Franck Oliver Sun Java Men EDT opens with a moderate projection of sweet, citrus, spicy, fruity, and woody accords. The opening is citrus fresh, breezy, and pleasant. The bergamot, orange, and mandarin create a great, sweet, sharp, and citrusy note, very natural; the mint is also prominent, it adds more to the freshness of the fragrance with its cooling green and slightly spicy note; the watermelon is the sweet, fruity note, noticeable, smooth, but intense, and it feels delicious. I bought Sun Java for men years ago when I was in search of a fruity-tooty watermelon cologne. The price for this goes for $20, so I figured it was worth a shot. Unfortunately, the watermelon has such a minute, synthetic sweet presence. The best summary of Sun Java: a cross between Le Male and Dunhill Desire. It's not as pungent nor metallic as Dunhill Desire and it's not a milky-brown vanilla I detect in Le Male. It opens with a rush of powdery sugar sweetness similar in Dunhill Desire (red bottle). The citrus notes are all there, bright and present. The citric notes settle down and a barely present watermelon note provides a fruity sweetness to the already powdery sugar sweetness existing. The watermelon feels like the faint scent of watermelon juice that has dried on your upper-lip/mouth area after eating a slice of the water fruit. But again, it's a very minute part of Sun Java. Sun Java then dries down to a sugary amber, sweet wet-musk laced with mint. The pyramid states mint is a top note, but it doesn't really appear until the heart and lasts until the basenotes. The mint is very refreshing in this fragrance and not medicinal. This is absolutely unisex, and would be lovely on either gender. It's be playful and seductive flair on a male, and on a female, I would imagine it would be just as fun and sexy. I would recommend this if you like Le Male/Dunhill Desire and sugary sweet fragrances.

Re visiting this one after a few years. It’s not a bad scent at all. In fact, it’s quite well made for a soft, sweet scent, definitely gives off a youthful, vibrant energy. I’ve realized this can definitely be classified as a “clubbing” scent for young men, and thoroughly falls into the “bubblegum” category of sweet, modern designer fragrances. It’s very, very sweet, but it’s well made. I could easily see it being unisex and definitely will be too sweet and soft for certain men, so try it out before you buy it! Overall I do like it, as it’s a very pleasant aroma. Fruity (not sharp citrus but I get a more watermelon/strawberry type vibe from this one) and floral, with fresh vanilla (not so much creamy vanilla, but pure/raw vanilla) and possibly some green elements, but mostly I get a VERY colorful, vibrant, radiating vibe. It’s called Sun “Java”, and don’t let that name mislead you, because it smells nothing like coffee, and gives off none of the vibes I get when I hear the word “java” (dark, creamy, sugary sweet, chocolatey, etc). Honestly a more accurate and representative name would be “Sun Vanilla Fruit Flavored Green Tea” haha. It’s actually a very well made scent, pretty much completely unknown and unheard of, so no one else will smell like you, and the longevity and projection are both good.

I like this stuff a lot. It's one of my summer go-to's. Amazing staying power, and sillage. Always a compliment getter, very unique also. Only one problem, if you find this at a mall and then offer this to you to sniff, if you like it, don't buy it from them, by it on the internet for what it's actually worth. When they asked who Franck Olivier is they said "Oh, he's a French designer who designed ray bans". I looked googled "Franck Olivier and Ray Bans" and there was no association between the two. Also, they claimed it was worth $95 but they could give it to me for $70. I stupidly said okay and walked out because I loved it. After having it a few days, I did some research (some info noted above) and not only did I find out he had nothing to do with ray bans but it was only worth $25, maybe less. Then I figured out what they do, they push these brands off that no one knows from to suckers for outrageous prices (when it's only worth $15-$30) and they get a nice healthy commission off of it. So I'm just warning you, if you have any doubts about something they offer, do your research. If you like it, and they claim it's expensive, google it, if it's $15-$30 dollars, buy it but not from them.

Love this unique fragrance to my senses. Starting off I get a very pronounced orange/mandarin that’s both tart and sweet. This along with a refreshing touch of mint. 5 minutes after these first few notes I get a cool, sweet, fruity watermelon with which I believe to be the musk it’s not a lot of it but I can smell out the musk. The watermelon note is very well done! As the scent life heads into an hour and for the rest of the life you get a beautiful vanilla, watermelon, hint of woody sweetness fragrance. This scent is an all around scent day or night, all seasons. For an excellent price it’s a GEM. Get this if you like fruity or vanilla scents. Highly recommend. Scent- 10 Longevity- 9 lasts 10 hours 7hours and beyond it is an up close or slight scent. Sillage- 8.5 scent bubble within first hour is at 6 feet approximately, then at about 3 hours you get to arms length projection. Finally for the rest of the duration it is a personal up close scent. Projection- 9 projects beautifully you’ll get whiffs of this on your own and others will smell it radiating. Good projection dies down at about 6-7 hours.

Spray lightly, or you'll over-sweeten yourself. This feels like an after-shower, white t-shirt scent if your partner has a sweet tooth. It's clean and powdery mixed with a sort of ambiguous soft-sweet artificial fruit note. It doesn't smell like a freshly cut watermelon, nor a freshly cut orange to me. It smells synthetic-fruity-clean in the way an air freshener or a 'tropical' laundry detergent might. It's entirely unisex, and great value. Again, spray lightly (one to two sprays) or you may reach a critical mass where it begins to smell sickening. Reading other reviews it sounds like some people really caked it on — at which point I'd agree it is sickening. Maybe people are over-spraying to try to get additional longevity. This scent is youthful in a daytime appropriate way, but I think the short lasting power and the cleanly feel make it more suitable as a 'watching TV before bed in a hotel while on vacation' type scent, so I would say this works both night and day.

I don't have a sophisticated nose that can pick out individual notes unless they are obvious. With this I get vanilla, watermelon, and orange citrus. In any case, I think it smells great. At the price point, I'm quite happy. Citrus and watermelon opening and then vanilla. I've seen some reviews that say it's too sweet but fortunately most sweet scents seem to somehow tone down on me. I'm good with it but it very well could be too sweet based on body chemistry. Love vanilla fragrances and I think I may have found one that I'm actually supposed to be wearing for this time of year (late spring, summer). Up until now I have just worn what have been considered fall/winter cologne because it's what I like. I guess now I'm wearing the right stuff for the season.

Has to be one of my favorite cologne of all that I own.. very clean and sweet. The watermelon in it makes for a unique scent. Also if you're looking for a not over used panty dropper, this stuff will do you well. Sex in a bottle. And can be worn all year long. But I prefer it for hot nights. Lastly if you can find Estelle ewen in red.. these two are perfect for layering together. But alone this thing does an awesome job. And you don't smell like everyone else.. if you can find it.. try it.. also watch out for fakes.. Key thing. Women love this fragrance! Trust me. Or test it out on random ladies at the mall before you purchase. Let them decide for ya.

Sun Java-Writing my first review because could not stand this cologne when I first wore it last year. Too sharp, too cloying. I could not understand why the many good reviews. Forward one year and tried it again few days ago and OMG it is gorgeous!!! No more sharpness, no cloying. It is softer and sweeter and warmer, and makes me keep sniffing at it while I write this review. Very confused as to why. Then it just dawned on me that this cologne works for me in the cold weather. I feel very guilty for hating this cologne last year, so had to register just now so I can write this review to shed some light into this little discovery.

As soon as you spray it it enlightens you in almost a chocolate sense, but that's the Amber and Vanilla being mixed. It's such an elegant cologne. After about 10-20 minutes when it's dried down a little, you start noticing the Mandarin Orange popping through, and the Musk beginning to pop it's head in the scene. I know usually I would recommend this for Winter or Night time, but the citrus notes in it allow it to be used throughout the rest of the year, and honestly just transform the scent as the year progresses. Which makes it a very versatile cologne.

This is really nice. Sun Java has a very refreshing vibe to it. I really enjoy the citruses in this. They don't come off as generic like so many other fragrances. The opening sort of reminds me of Diesel Plus Plus Masculine, sort of sugary and powdery but not as sweet or harsh as Diesel. Sun Java has a more calming effect. The citrus and the sweetness balance each other very well. I also feel you could pull this off year round. It's not to heavy for the heat and it seems to hold up very well during the colder months.

WHat a lovley blind buy!!, the smell of this scent is gorgeous,sweet and fruity, opens with with citruses then i get a lot and i mean a lot of peppermint and a little hint of watermelon, the vanilla is there but not loudly as the peppermint, projection is low and longivity not bad. I think both genders can use it but i think it fits more for the men, any age can pull this fragrance specially the young folks in any season(it's versetile in my opinion) unless you don't like sweet fragrances. THUMB UP.

Ok where do I begin... I have so many memories with this bottle. 2012-14 My wife loves this bottle and she calls it 2013. Citrusy fresh... I love it.. Young and fresh. Pimp juice on a budget. This fragrance is one of my beginner frags that made me a collector now. 20-30 a bottle I actually keep a backup new bottle. But because of the great memories I only wear this on special occasions with my wife. I have so much respect for this cheapy.

One of the most underrated fragrances ever imho. Could be considered generic. But it is classy enough to make a mark. Beautiful smell, awesome performance. Casual as well as sophisticated. All year round versatile fragrance. Definitely a blind buy worthy. Had this be marketed by YSL or Prada, it would have been a bestseller.

Shares a bit of mint and vanilla of Versace Eros, but has a lot of added citrus and is just overall a lot fresher. If the sun is shining and it's t-shirt weather I would choose this over Eros any day.

Not my best scent but one of my favorites, its kinda unique n different....all I do know is when I put this on women go nuts a definite head turner to women

Very good inexpensive fragrance.

First of all, if you are a woman and want to get the softer counterpart of this one, you might want to get Paris Hilton Passport in Paris because it smells like the female version of this one. They both have the mandarin note in the opening and the amber, vanilla and musk in the base. In the opening, you could straight away smell the mint and orange, really pronounced, but the odd thing is that you also smell the amber and vanilla in the base notes from the beginning. The watermelon just gets lost in the process. I like fruity scents for men but this is too much sweetness for me. Definitely more of a warm winter scent than a fresh summer one. The longevity is moderate as well, lasts up to 6 hours tops. Good and unique but not to my taste because the sweetness gets almost bitter in this one.

I bought this based on the hype for my quest of finding the ultimate under $30 fragrances. The opening and first hour to my nose is amazing. Fresh fruity clean and sweet. When it's totally dried down it smells kind of like an old hard candy wrapper. Really sweet. Not totally bad though. I got compliments. It does stay a skin scent for a while, but doesn't project very long. I do like it overall. Scent 7/10 opening 9/10 Projection 5/10 Longevity 5/10 Price 10/10 Solid

Non descript spring/summer day time juice. Not overbearing. Not offensive. Just nothing to it to my nose. Last about 3 hours on my skin with limited projection. It is slightly powdery to the nose for what its worth. Update. After smelling again, on day 2, it now comes to me. This is similar, in the dry down, to Roberto Verino VV Man (2004). I mean it's almost exactly the same.

Very fresh, musky and clean smelling. Like maybe some watermelon shampoo and then you wash your body with a greeny citrus soap. Cheap and long lasting, can be used anywhere. I like this stuff it just isn't anything to write home about.

I get a weird orange smell from this. Not my thing but makes a good air freshener when Im cleaning the house before my wife gets home. Do not blind buy.

Womens loves this fragance this is sexy sweet very delicious

This stuff is absolute garbage. Way out of balance in the worst kind of wannabe cool water sort of way. I smelt it at the store and on the test strip it seemed nice. So I took a bottle of it home. Low and behold yes on a tiny piece of paper this stuff is ok, but I sprayed it on myself and it has the most over the top opening it's almost unbearable. I thought maybe it would calm down, but it never really did. Strong sillage and seems to never stop with the out of balance aquatic fighting with amber. The people at the store couldn't stop singing this stuffs praises and why I do not know, but rest assured I will never trust what sales people say about fragrances again. Part of me wonders if they get paid better selling this stuff vs a more recognizable and better brands. Couldn't get rid of it quick enough.

Very overrated.. a big source of headaches

I've had this fragrance for a little over a year and I love this scent so much. I live in a very warm and tropical place so this is always a dumb reach frag all year round, especially on those hot days. Don't spray too much as it can come off as cloying and synthetic but if you find that happy medium this fragrance is an awesome wear. Depending on location you could wear this all year round because it does have a fruity/juicy watermelon sweetness that lingers around and can even cut through the cooler weather which works even during the colder seasons. This is a sleeper "clubbing" style scent and would invigorate the ladies' attention in those environments. The demographic that would wear this is someone in their late teens, 20's, and mid 30's. If youre older than that I would probably give this scent a skip because it gives off a more youthful/playful type of vibeand I cant imagine a more mature audience to rock this scent. Projection is also very good considering the price point of this cologne, I purchased it for around $20 for a 75ml bottle. Due to the powderiness and fruity combo of this dna, it does project fairly decent for at least 1.5-2.5 hours and slowly gets closer to the skin. Longevity wise this scent lasts a good 6-7 hours and can still notice it after I finish work. Although it's categorized as a men's fragrance I feel that women can definitely pull this one off, making it more of a unisex fragrance. Overall rating I would give it a respectable 7/10 for what it is considering its cheap price point.

Franck Olivier is the king of affordables that outdo their inspiration. It’s the famous beauty that is ”artistic nineties” conceptualized - born again. Remember Picasso Minotaure? Or if you like the similar, but way creamier and sweeter, Roma Uomo from Biagiotti) both from 1992. While many popular frags have followed this remarkable style like Nikos Sculpture (95), Dunhill Desire (00), Fragonard Desert (06), they are more sweet leaning to me. Bogarts Silver Scent (06) is this theme but on steroids, overdone and quite unwearable. My favorites are Picasso and Sun Java that are dryer, but the Picasso sadly has glaring longevity issues. SJ then becomes the very best choice. Olivier took the sweet and dialed it down, making the acidic fresh citrus fruits standout more. This is more modern (less nineties vibe) and a bit fresher like a summer fragrance. It dries down to a GREEN base, to what reminds me of the more contemporary releases Superman or Popeye (16) and a hint of Eros (12). I also feel that when the sweetness is toned back like this it becomes much more masculine and wearable in more situations. It smells quality, Franck Olivier somehow knows how to avoid the overly synthetic cheap vibes while still keeping prices affordable (look at passion for men, blue touch). I CANNOT convey enough how I love this. The watermelon is so yummy. The feeling I get is summery, positive, playful, festive, orangey and bright.

I had a bottle of this several years back, so this is going off of memory. I recently got my nose on Blue Talisman from Ex Nihilo, and it smelled familiar to me. After sniffing it a few times and going through the rolodex in my mind, it came to me - Franck Olivier Sun Java! Let me be clear, I am by no means stating they smell the same, nor am I insinuating that Blue Talisman is inspired by this fragrance (Sun Java came out years before); however, the overall scent profile is similar. Sun Java is also reminiscent of fragrances like Nikos Sculpture, Lafayette Street, and Erba Pura. I know Erba Pura does not particularly smell like Lafayette Street/Sculpture, but the fruitiness of Sun Java reminds me of Erba Pura. Of those mentioned, Blue Talisman is the least similar. I would say Sun Java is like a child of Sculpture and Erba Pura, with Blue Talisman being more of a cousin. Okay, all that out of the way, what does Sun Java actually smell like? Simply put: watermelon and citrus supported by a vanillic amber. Sun Java does smell synthetic and a little juvenile, but it is pleasant. Fresh enough to wear in the heat, but not so fresh that it would feel out of place in the cooler months. Performance is solid, especially considering the price. TL;DR: sweet, fresh, and playful. If you enjoy fragrances like Lafayette Street, Blue Talisman or Erba Pura and want a cheaper alternative, this is a solid option.

This is my comment for Sun Java White for Men (Different from this original Sun Java) Normally, I quickly dismiss Frank Olivier fragrance because I was not impressed with what I tried in the past. For instance, Eau de Passion Men was just okay. So recently, i give this brand another try. This time, Sun Java WHITE catches my eyes. On my skin, I get a lot of citrusy accord but it all dries down to just that fresh blossom smell of some sort that reminds me so much of Silver Mountain Water. It's very clean and cool aromatic scent. Then it turns really musky (but nice and sweet) that lasts a long time for such an inexpensive fragrance. Next time when I come across this again, I will give it a second test to make sure that My mind doesn't change. At this point, this is a very likely a must for me and would be my very first Franck Olivier in my collection.

OK, so I was going through a box of cheapies I picked up many years ago, trying to decide what I was going to throw out. I came across this one which I bought maybe 10 years ago. I sprayed it on my wrist, lots of perfumers alcohol for about 30 seconds. Then magic happened, it started to smell very nice. I kept telling myself that this smells very familiar, but could not figure out what it smelled like. Then it hit me, I knew what it smelled like. I brought up the main accords of this and what I thought it smelled like on Fragrantica, the accords were basically the same aside from ozonic, aquatic, and powdery notes. The fragrance it smells like to me is Allure Homme Sport Eau Extreme. I happened on a cheapie gem I have had for a lot of years

The opening spray smells as if Febreeze tried to make a men's scent. It's a blast of very sweet fruit, It's all over the place and unfocused. But as it dies down a bit it definitely mellows out and is a bit more focused. The watermelon stays sweet throughout the whole dry down process and more masculine undertones show itself. I feel as if this scent is too feminine for a fragrance marketed to men and I've given it away because of that. It's a very immature scent and slightly unfocused scent but to say it's bad is too much. 6.5/10

I tried it and thought it reminded me of something I had before,, hmm.. well all I know is it smells deep and great and last all day. I also have the sun jave white as well, totally different but another great clean scent. This really is funny how juices that cost so little last so much longer than the high price houses. The opens are big and the dry downs are clean. Both the regular and the white sun java are awesome, watch the prices go up..lol

هندونه! قارپوز! watermelon! بوی ملایم ، با پخش کم و ماندگاری تقریباً بالا بوی هندونه ش غوغا میکنه! من که باهاش حال میکنم در عین شیرینی یه تلخی خاصی هم حدود نیم ساعت الی یه ساعت اول داره که به نظرم به خاطر شمعدونی باشه. کمی شبیه سیلورسنت ، ولی شیرینتر و وانیلی تر. به نظرم خیلی بهتر از سیلورسنته. البته اگه صرفاً به خاطر بوی هندونه میخرید ، احتمال ناامید شدنتون هست.

For me this is a pleasant soft citrus bomb (excluding lemon which is a good thing as that tends to go in the direction of pledge furniture polish). Amber & musk is subtle but there - it's very well blending to be citrus forward. This is my 6th Frank Olivier fragrance, never disappointed, amazing value, smells like quality and punches above its price point.

Nice opening for the first five minutes then turns into a synthetic amberyvanillamelon mess. While it smells all right it's just way too synthetic for me, I can't stand it. Great notes list, I wish the execution and quality of ingredients was better.

This has a very youthful smell, guys and girls both love it, it's only down side is it goes away kinda fast, so you have to bring it with you and reapply very often, but it's not expensive so that's not really an issue for me

In my opinion the scent is 5/10; however, my wife loves it and it gets compliments whenever I wear it. The first thing I notice is a strange disharmonious opening that is sometimes pleasant and sometimes not.

Horrible synthetic smell. Smells like many others, absolutely no originality or class. Cheap. Very similar to Pal Zileri Uomo.

As a woman who sell perfume in a perfume shop, this is by far one of my top ten favorite scent for men.
