L’Humaniste Extreme

Not all fragrances for which their perfumers make extreme or intense versions deserve them, but this one really did. The original L'Humaniste from Frapin is a gentle, mellow, elegant masculine fragrance which was pretty low-key, and after sampling it I very much wished it had come in a stronger version. Here it is, and you get the fuller sense of the notes with the beefed-up formula: the cardamon is still here, but the juniper and alocohol notes are much more evident. This smells like a relaxed club atmosphere: it's the rare scent that evokes a gin-and-tonic without seeming alcohol soaked, you could actually wear this to work without smelling like you've had a nip in the parking lot beforehand. Rather, it just projects calm and elegance. Very nice, and probably worth a full bottle.

Starts off with a bit more lemon up top than the original. The first time I sprayed it the lemon was all I got. Very cleaner-like lemon. But I let the sample sit for about three weeks and decided to just give it a full wear yesterday. Very surprised to find the lemon note more subtle and blended in a bit more. The majority of the wear very much resembles the original with its ginger-apple and citrus brightness but this one has a very nice dusting of spices and clean woods as it dries. It gives a little more depth than the original and sets itself apart from the (some might say) overly simple structure of L'huministe. Performance was probably a little better also but still not nuclear, nor would I want it to be. Strongly considering a full bottle.

This new creation takes the original to a deeper and much more interesting level to my nose. This starts off pretty fresh, green, some bergamot and perhaps some anise, classic stuff. In the dry down L’Humaniste Extreme goes warmer and here the magic begins. It’s a fusion between a classic scent and its own dna which I simply adore. Lots of spices, tonka, patchouli and slightly minty. On the improvement, Frapin managed to extend the longevity substantially on this one, thumbs up Frapin. Recommended stuff, their best release so far.

Indeed it's not as fresh as the original, but i do find it's a very nice and sexy fragrance! For me personally it's an improvement! I do detect the distinct spicy coca cola aroma Mike is talking about. This fragrance smells soo damn nice and has alot of versatility to it. I think you can wear this one whenever, but do think it's most suited to a cooler summer nights or in between seasons. Frapin really has a winner here and I think women will really like this!

We have a beautiful scent that is both fresh and woody. ideal for all 4 seasons. It’s a no-fuss perfume! Frapin worked on the longevity of the perfume, the perfume lasts much longer than the classic version. we directly feel that the raw materials are of quality.

A solid, high-quality scent, masculine, fresh, but also warm. Citrusy top notes balanced with balsam which makes the whole composition warm without being sweet. Medium longevity and projection. Ideal for warm weather nights.

Yum! I like this on me and would loooove to smell this on a man.

Well, I need to try this whenever it comes out.

Sparkly citrus and quince come at you immediately, with pepper showing up throughout wear. Sparkliness fades in the first half hour, but quince character and base notes last. The formulation feels base-note heavy; resinous, voluminous, almost chewy. I like it :)

L'Humaniste is pretty amazing perfume (even with its old and overplayed DNA) and I don't see the point of releasing such a derivative flanker, especially after 15 years. This one is denser than the original and definitely has some slightly funky amber underneath. I can't detect quince at all, but I agree with someone below that this has common root with Guerlain L'homme Ideal line. Could be released as L'Homme Ideal Elixir or something. Even the longevity and sillage in both this and 1270 Extreme are nothing to write home about, yet they have the audacity to charge 20€ more. Stick to originals. Edit year later: I revisited, and I think that the drydown is this super intoxicating musky amber, imo superior and more pleasant than the drydown of Roja Burlington 1819, and you can get find these with a decent price on discounters, so I think it's worthy to sample this one.

I haven't tried the original but had a sample of this. I like the fresh, spicy and almost fizzy lemonade smell. Although the dry down I do not like as much, it smells too non-interesting to me, almost like a cheap handcream you would get free.

A citrusy, deep composition with a distinctly masculine character. It evokes associations with a classic cologne.

I own the original which I love, so I was curious about this new flanker. The extreme label suits it as it's denser and not as green as the original. The sweetness is dialed up a little and there an interesting citrus fruit scent to it that's not typical (assuming the quince). This version IMO brings it closer to xerjoff's Uden as it is sweeter, spicier and creamier than the original. Not sure if I would pick up a bottle since I do own the original, but it's different enough that I wouldn't feel too redundant. Overall it's very solid. Edit: On skin it's different, definitely sweeter and has more amber woods. Also the spices really kick up and give it a type of funk (similar to BDC l'exclusif), so my comparison to Uden is off, this is more of a fall early winter scent. Pretty different from the original, but I by far prefer the original.

I do love the scent profile, among a sea of citruses, this stands out for me. The lemon top is done right, there is a powdery sweetness, but the overall feel is bright & zingy. I haven't smelt the og, but I believe this one is a slightly better performer. The performance level is soft to moderate on my skin, works for a hot weather scent. Really reminds me Guerlain's L'Homme Ideal Intense, or something similar to that spicy cola aroma. Sticky sweet ambered base with a dark, woody patchouli note. Not something I was expecting. Feels like a classic profile but I just find the Guerlain version a bit better. Might be more here to get excited about but it's kind of dull for me, although executed well enough.

Full disclaimer. I have not sampled the original. first spray reminded me of lemon cake. IDK. but then it quickly moved into a spicier space. two hours later it was squarely in an incense-y realm. Balsam, maybe? This was the long lasting dry down for me...A very nice easy wearing fragrance.

Same as HugoAlfie. I just tested it today and while I had quite the same vibe as the original, after a few hours the drydown became unpleasantly mossy on my skin. Too bad, I'll pass and stick to the original I LOVE despite its longevity...

What a name! The time has come for it to appear in our time, when the world definitely suffers from the lack of humanism.

Not as fresh as the original with warmer dry down. I prefer the original.
