No. 17 Laundrette

Love at first smell! So clean and minimalistic. Like lying down in freshly laundered sheets, but even better. Very good staying power. You feel calm in it.

I luckily received a mini size of this through a giveaway by Frau Tonis hosted on Fragrantica, so thank you! I was interested in this scent initially for the combination of notes which I liked and with the name, Laundrette, it seemed to me I couldn't go far wrong with it. No.17 Laundrette very much delivers on it's inspiration. This fragrance does indeed smell like freshly laundered clothes, not in the sense of that outdoors fresh air smell, but more of that laundry detergent scent. Saying laundry detergent may not sound that appealing, but it is fresh, clean, powdery, a bit soapy, with a distinct freesia note at the heart. The blackcurrant here is green and exactly like a very old L'Occitane Blackcurrant fragrance from the 90s, that featured it as smelling like a tart liquid soap. This fragrance also reminds me of a much higher quality Bath & Body Works Sea Island Cotton, a small bottle of which I finished long ago. Laundrette is perfect for easy days, work or interviews (where I have worn it myself), where it's refreshing presence can easily pass under the radar. It is simple, versatile and well executed and does exactly what it sets out to do. As an added bonus, this is really pretty strong,it projects and maintains well, ideal for a fresh scent. I like my mini, it's great to keep on hand for situations when you don't want to necessarily smell perfumed or for a minimalist aesthetic.

Not typically a clean musk perfume sorta gal but this one feels like freshly laundered linen and doesn't give me a headache. Works great with a casual daytime activity that you want to feel a bit more put together for.

It totally fits its own description. Clean laundry, maybe a bit more sharp that I'd expect, but still. Unfortunately, the samples came as sprayed pieces paper (??!?!?!) , not in mini vials (and we paid for that - what a disappointment! :/ :( ), so I can't tell what my skin chemistry would contribute to it. Minimalistic, clean, unisex. I won't buy it.
