273 Rodeo Drive

This is primarily a tuberose sweet scent that is heavier on the tuberose than the peach - in the first hours of wear. Later, as this perfume moves into the heart of the fragrance, the middle peach notes emerge and it is totally gorgeous on the skin. I love this perfume. It is really special - and the peach notes are what separate this perfume from the other tuberose perfumes that I've tried. This is totally gorgeous - I love this perfume! The first 30 minutes to an hour of wear - this goes on like the 1980's style potent perfumes. You need to allow this some time to breathe before attending a meeting or date. It is a little over the top during the first hour of wear, but as this dries down - this becomes an irresistible perfume. Lovely, very alluring. If you are into perfumes that have tuberose and are a sweet fruity floral, this perfume checks most of the boxes. With my chemistry, 273 Rodeo Drive is much different ON - than Christian Dior's Poison or Giorgio. I wouldn't compare this with either of these perfumes. It is really its own scent. I agree with the comments that I wish I had found out about this sooner, as in the 1980's! This is one of those that really works well with my chemistry! A LOVE! ------------- Although I truly LOVE this fragrance, it is a little bit much for wearing to the office or to events where you may be in enclosed spaces. If you love tuberose, but need to tone it down a bit -- I recommend Rare Gold by Avon. It is a truly lovely perfume which is a bit more grounded and wears closer to the skin; it is still pretty potent the first 30-45 minutes of wear, so this may be one that you'd want to spritz a half hour before you plan on being at your meeting or on a date. (273 launches off the skin and wears much more bright and sharp - this is great on when you are going to be in a less tight space or outdoors).

This was ubiquitous at discount stores when I was a teenager and for whatever reason I assumed it was not for the likes of me. It inspired in me not even a scintilla of curiosity, only disdain. It was for someone who was both conventional and trying too hard. One of my pandemic projects is revisiting scents of my youth, including ones I rejected. I love tuberose above all else and 273 kept popping up. I’m pretty sure my teenage self would have rolled her eyes and gagged at first sniff, but who cares what she thinks. This is great! Big, brassy, old school 80’s tuberose, with a side of ripe stone fruits and a glass of Pinot Grigio. For the first half hour, I swear I get white wine notes which I attribute to grapey-jasmine. I even caught my husband giving me the side-eye after I applied it this morning, so other people pick up the booze notes too. As this dries down, I get more powdery iris and spices but the tuberose and gardenia are there throughout. Occasionally I get wafts of fruity but non-sweet cocoa powder. Other times, it smells rather soapy. Overall it’s a great scent that morphs continuously as you wear it. If you love classic, bold tuberose scents check this out. It certainly doesn’t smell conventional anymore. If you prefer subtle scents, this will not be your jam. There are probably a lot of people who would hang the “old lady” tag on this one, but who cares what they think anyway.

Yes! I finally got a bottle! This was my first perfume I REALLY fell for in 1989. It is so passionate of a scent. I love gardenia and tuberose so much I feel they are sexy together. It used to linger for hours but I'm finding myself reapplying every 4 hours which is not good. This lasts on clothes longer than the skin. But Ooooooh la la it's a sexy lush vavooooom type of scent. At first it's very strong and a tad indolic ( which I loathe) but it fades into a Aussie hair spray grape fruity, soapy kinda coconut (even though it's not listed) sexy scent. It's luscious. Delicious. Almost forbidden. It does seem a little different than it was in 1989. It fades faster and the dry down is unpleasant. It's not as refined and powdery as it once was but it's still wonderful and I am happy to own a bottle again. Finding a lost love feels like I found a treasure I longed for. This scent evokes so many memories of me and my older sister. We don't speak anymore ... but I think of her when I smell this and I always will. This is a high class in a bottle. Never thought I would say this but this is not for teeny bopper girls or immature teenagers. This is a powerhouse of a scent for mature women that knows what she wants. Mmmm is so warm and ambery with the white flowers and sandalwood so seductive. This is a must have for me. It's to die for! So creative and yes it smells like Elena from AlRehab.

I smelled this on a coworker one day and was thinking, it doesn’t smell fancy or expensive but it smells amazing. Luxurious, ingredient-wise I mean. I couldn’t make out the notes or the fragrance but it smelled to me like creamy coconut but not the obnoxious chemical kind. It smelled real, like sunscreen too and expensive shampoo. Just gorgeous. I had to ask what it was and she smiled before she told me. She’s probably gotten a lot of compliments which is understandable. It’s been a while since I’ve been impressed by a fragrance and it’s always a vintage and this is no exception. I wear this to work (lightly) and it lasts for HOURS and before bed. It is so lovely that it has a relaxing effect. I don’t think this fragrance can’t be worn today. It just smells like you got out of the shower, clean, but not fresh like lemon, fresh like a nice body lotion or shampoo. I LOVE this and hope I’ll always have it in my collection :) Edit: I know the list doesn’t show any coconut but something is translating to my brain that way. Anyways it’s very creamy and floral. Absolutely gorgeous and lasts for HOURS. Note: I mix this with a sweet vanilla (I use Vanilla Seduction) and it’s heavenly :3

273 starts with a beautiful blast of spicy peach. It dries down to a warm spicy sandalwood/jasmine with a faint tuberose base. Hours and hours later there's a hint of floral amber clinging to my skin. It's just delicious on me and my very favorite daytime scent. I just can't get enough of it. It drys down to a lovely floral that's smells like a woman - not a girl. I can wear it day or night. It makes me feel powerful. My husband gives it an 8. I had the good luck of being able to try this scent before it was released in 1989. My good friend worked as a chemist where it was produced and he sent me a vial. He didn't know what the name was or anything about it. I went crazy for it and it was my signature daytime scent all through the 90's. It'a definitely a strong scent and it takes a strong, confident personality to wear it. Everyone loved it on me. Rarely did a day go by that someone didn't ask me what my fantastic perfume was.I got away from it for years because of some of the memories it brought back, but I've recently gotten a bottle and fallen in love with it all over again.
