Touch for Men

Sprayed this on my arm and noticed a resemblance to the Hanae Mori hm variety and then when I did do a side-by-side they were Incredibly Close I'd say about 80 to 90%.....Both smell very similar to each other I hope someone else takes me up on this and confirms that..... but I will say the Fred Hayman is not as strong as the Hanae Mori......I would give this Fred Hayman touch for men and 8.0 for the scent itself and 6.5 for longevity and silage..... have a nice day

Another one that agrees with the similarity to Brut, although more complex and longer lasting. It's a very beautiful fragrance, and sadly it's been discontinued.

Dear Lanier, good friend. Cross with a child of mine? What have they done? Tell me please. I know they are misunderstood. At times I have to come out and defend my creations as they wander and stumble through the world. In 1994-1995 while I was at Parlux I created Fred Hayman's Touch for Men. After 20 years I can't recall which essential I house I worked with on it but at the time Givaudan, Firmenich, IFF, Creations Aromatic, Florasyth, Fragrance Resources, Quest and Takasago were all in and out of the office. Who knows where it is made now, or whether the scent has been tinkered with...I would think not. One of the first things to note is what a success this scent is - Touch for Men has its devotees. 20 years later and still selling. That is a lot of bottles. If I had to guess over 20 years somewhere between 200,000 and 250,000 bottles have been sold. That is a lot of spritzing, and fragrance on skin out in the world. Fragrances without a following die a quick and quiet death. Not so with Touch for men. And back to the scent - the direction from Parlux management for this fragrance brief was very very specific - make a Brut for men. Take Brut and enrich it, make it stronger, more bold and Brutish. I can see myself in the hallway right now in a passioned all-male conversation about Brut for men, I hear the words as they were said."the best scent ever for schtupping" There you have it. Go forth my child. The world is yours.

Well Jeffreydame, I just got your creation and wore it, and I think it's a great, smooth, sweet, joyful Brut-ish fragrance. I don't understand how that negative review below could be explained, other than the juice in his bottle had turned. I sprayed my modern Brut Special Reserve on card to compare. This Touch is a lot more sweet. In fact, since my Brut by Brut Parfums Prestige has "Sweet" listed as an accord, Touch for Men should also have a "Sweet" accord listed. I thought there was pretty significant divergence in profile, but the Brut DNA is definitely recognizable in Touch. I like it.

Bright opening - I get something more like citrus than lavender - and fairly rapid dry down to amber. After a couple hours a mild spice note kicks in for me as well. This has a simple structure and is very pleasant to apply. It's one I will wear in its own right, but it's also a nice one to keep at the front of the collection for those days where I changed my mind about my advance selection from the night before but simply can't make a decision on what I want to wear instead.

A hidden gem cheapie nowadays. Haven’t tried HM EDT but will look into it. I’ve been in a Neutrogena Rainbath” quest as well - and while this has similar accords, it’s just not structured the same. But this is still very pleasant from opening to dry down, and it does have that vintage tinge/fougere /barbershop edge like Brut. For under 20.00 most places, it’s definitely one of the better frags for the price - a solid pick up for any collector.

A more concentrated version of classic Brut or Revlon Pub. That's really all you need to know --- if you like Brut or Pub and like a stronger version of it, you'll like Touch. If not, you probably won't. For myself, I enjoy it once in a while, but it's not a scent I wear often.

I said this is 90% Hanae Mori HM- EDT. I also got the Hanae Mori HM- EDP, which is much harsher than the more recent formulation of FH Touch. FH Touch is a smooth delight. I don't find it disastrous at all.

I bought this for $5 Australian for 50mL. I agree with Renato about this smelling like Brut. For the price it's not bad, but it's not earth shattering either. I wouldn't go out of my way to find a bottle.

Wow! So I stand by my statement that this smells nothing like BRUT in its current formulation, but it sure does layer well with BRUT. Touch has an amber sweet note, linear and pleasant. It really jumps along side with BRUT and the lavender note, but mostly the Ylang-Ylang aspect. I often spend some attention to my aftershave/perfume combo. Obviously I don’t want to combine polar opposites, so I use clone versions of an aftershave, or a similar profile. Sometimes I can only use one or the other depending on the performance. Once in a while however, I might just find a nice layering effect. This is one of those cases for sure. It really takes the neutral sweet base of Touch and gives my BRUT aftershave a touch more sweet amber spin to make it surprisingly wearable today. So off I go now to assault a public audience with my Frankenscent creation...Wish me luck.

With all the BRUT comparisons I quickly blind bought this. So, for sure I have the “current” formulation and it is nothing like the scents indicated with the old school bravado. I get amber, lavender and a citrus kind of note. No depth, no spice, just a flat safe scent. Not offensive, not challenging, just a pleasant boring scent. At this time Brut, Jade East and Canoe are in top spots. Low votes, but dang, so off on the current version. Really disappointed in this one, wearing it to work, which is fine because it is pretty work safe for sure.

“Your advertising's just dandy... folks would never guess you don't have a thing to sell.” Bonnie Parker Faye Dunnaway might as well have been talking about Touch for Men by Fred Hayman when she said those lines to Warren Beatty in the classic 1967 film “Bonnie And Clyde”. The bottle for Touch was so pretty and elegant that I was seduced by its classic apothecary bottle design. I bought it blind and on the promise of the notes it claimed to have. Three notes to be exact, Lavender, Spices, and Amber, a simple yet masculine Oriental Spicy, right up my alley. It sounded uncomplicated and elegant and like something that might hark back to the glamour of Beverly Hills in the 90’s when Fred Hayman was a big name people still remembered on Rodeo Drive. Then it arrived..... I opened the package and took one look at the box. Not good. It was rather gaudy... Oh well it was the 90’s after all. I unboxed the bottle... Now it looked a lot better with its oversized black cap and the red plastic “wax” seal with an H stamped on it in the center of the bottle... no name just the stamp. Well that is kind of classy; if you stood back a few feet and squinted. Then I opened the bottle. I spayed it on and in a Newport Beach second I morphed into Summer Roberts from “The O.C.” “It smells like Chino, Ew!!” It stank like the inside of the plastic head of a Jerry Mahoney ventriloquist doll. I know because when I was 12 I smelled my cousin's Jerry Mahoney Doll, and it smelled BAD. What is that, Lavender? I have never smelled lavender like that. Plastic flowers melting on a sidewalk in the summer. The spices were from the back shelf of an old taco truck abandoned on the old I 5 just north of Gorman. Amber? No not amber but something akin to burning tires in a junk yard in the San Fernando Valley. It not only stank but it stank in the most obvious way. IT WAS CHEAP! Was this a joke? All I could think of was Divine in “Lust in the Dust.” Divine: Yeah, I came here for the gold, because I've been poor all my life. Marguerita Ventura: You've got it all wrong, honey. You've been cheap all your life. Divine: Cheap? [picks up a chair, and breaks it over Maguerita] Divine: This furniture is cheap. I have no idea how long it lasts because I had the hazmat team in here giving me the “Dr. No” decontamination scrub down about thirty minutes after the first spay. Lets just put it this way, It had me, and not in a good way, at “Ew”. NO STARS

This one makes me angry. I bought it as a blind buy because everyone swore up and down that it smells like the fruity, herbal spiciness of Neutrogena Rainbath. News flash: It doesn't. Thank God I only bought a mini! I think it smells very CITRUSY with a base of amber. I smell no spice at all, not even a fine blend or essence. Good sillage, though. 8+ hours.

To me this is for the first hour a little similar to YSL Rive Gauche, then it turns more spicy oriental, maybe there is some Brut in there too. I like it. A nice oriental indeed and very, very strong. I love the lavender.

Bought it blind because of how cheap it was and how much I love Hollywood by FH. Disgustingly powdery and disappointingly flat. Couldn't have given this away faster! As in throw it away!

Vintage fragrance lover-but this! this is crap like Zino, Bijan. nothing pleasant here like hell this is like Brut. And yet these stay in the market and other masterpieces get discontinued or butchered. go figure.

I would first like to preface this by stating, I can't for the life of me see how this fragrance bears even a vague resemblance to Neutrogena Rainbath shower gel. In fairness, I'm sure it's been reformulated since the 90's and that my current production version has been neutered in some way. Either by IFRA or corporate bean counters. However, I doubt that it changed THAT much. If the 90's version legitimately smelled like Rainbath body wash than the current version is quite literally a completely different fragrance. To my nose, this smells vaguely similar to Banana Republic Modern Man. It's VERY very light. There's probably a 0% chance of offending even the most olfactory sensitive folk. In fact, it's so light I'm struggling to pick any notes out of it. Definitely a slightly ozonic/aldehydic overtone, and maybe tobacco blossom (a little like Versace the Dreamer)? It has a sort of fresh wetness to it that reminds me of Nicole Miller For Men and Dunhill Edition, and also lends a light soapy note. There's lavender in there, but it's not a very forward lavender as would usually feature in a men's cologne. I can't detect anything spicy whatsoever. Maybe a slight, SLIGHT, hint of black pepper (maybe)? Either way, I'm somewhat betwixt on my feelings toward this fragrance. It's definitely not bad, and it's definitely wearable. However, in a 120+ bottle collection I don't see myself reaching for it much. I'll definitely keep it because, well, I keep everything lol. One of my favorite parts, and one of the biggest parts of collecting fragrances for me is the history. So considering it was cheap and it's from the 90's, it definitely has a permanent place in my collection. Mainly, I'm a little bothered by the fact that it smells (to my nose) absolutely positively nothing like Neutrogena Rainbath shower gel, which is one of my favorites. I find it odd that a Googling of "cologne that smells like Neutrogena Rainbath" yields this as the most cited answer. What's even more funny still, however, is that the day after ordering this online I purchased a bottle of Coty Musk For Men from my local Wal-Mart. When I sprayed it, HOLY SHIT. An absolute DEAD-RINGER for Neutrogena Rainbath (to my nose). It was PERFECT. Of course I thought to myself "Damn, now I guess I'll have two fragrances that smell just like Rainbath? Oh well,". My fears were unfounded however. This is a light, pretty fresh, and very linear fragrance that doesn't aim to please, nor offend. It's chinos with loafers and a blue blazer. If Fred Hayman Touch For Men were a radio station, it would be an "MOTR" (middle of the road) station with a predilection towards acts like the Eagles and the Bay City Rollers. If you're looking to make an impression or get compliments, go somewhere else. If you're looking for a badass retro fragrance that typifies the 90's, look somewhere else. If you collect retro fragrances, or need to bump up your cart total for that free shipping, however, I suppose it's a decent enough buy. Not much of an endorsement I suppose, but, what're you gonna do?

Without a doubt, Touch (Parlux vintage) smells like a slightly stronger, slightly smoother 80s vintage Brut. The only difference is that instead of skanky musk ambrette, its musk is on the cleaner, mossier side, though it does have a decent warmth to it. Its lavender isn't as sharp and minty, either - it smells softer and has a light, somewhat bitter coriander note tucked in next to it. Its coumarin is dry and diffuse, only faintly sweet, with a cool talc effect, which reminds me of Rive Gauche PH. Lovers of traditional barbershop fougeres must try this, although unfortunately I can't comment on the silver-capped reformulation, which is no longer made by Parlux. Update: I've given Neutrogena's "Rainbath" shower gel a try, because it is so often compared to Touch (and vice-versa), and I must admit, it does smell very similar to Touch, and Brut by proxy. However, what also came to mind was that Touch and Rainbath smell rather similar to Dana's Canoe in some ways as well, particularly in how the lavender is handled. The lavender in Canoe is softer and "sparkles" more than the crisp minty lavender in soapy Brut.
