If u are then enjoy babe love u 🫶🏻 Mmmh don't you just love the smell of a skanky sexy time on sweat-soaked red velvet sheets? Lipstick stains, rose petals, and melting sensations. In the dim lights of your lair, your partner’s face is obscured by the darkness but their unmistakable sweet delicious musk sure is wafting in the air with every motion. Moments like this call for minimal lighting, almost pitch black, to really set the mood because with just one flick of a light switch, the bright lights will expose your partner’s true identity—the pillsbury doughboy :D 🤘 yipee anyways i was just doing an impression of how some yall sound like when you’re glazing this fragrance, so now imma just write random words so the punchline doesn’t end up sitting right at the end making it too obvious woop woop distraction skills. Ok, now the review. Hmmm sorry but this isn’t what any of yall claimed it to be. Sex beast sex god sex blah blah or maybe some of you were just too horny when yall smelled it 😩 because there’s nothing remotely sexual about it. I expected warm spicy, sweaty, dirty animalics but this is simply an avalanche of baby powder and a thunderstorm of baby oil. Sorry, how many of u associate sexy times with baby powder and baby oil... “that’s weird that’s suspicious” - cardi b I’ve always wanted to challenge myself when it comes to sniffing new things but god this is like returning to square one back when I obsessed over aldehydic scents like girl this is in the same sweet, soap-ish, baby powder impression you’d get from byredo blanche... Sure, maybe it’s quite dirty but that’s only on the initial spray where it smells like the raunchy scent of greasy unwashed hair but duh that’s not enough to justify almost everyone’s claim on how “filthy” this thing is because that skanky beginning quickly develops into a cinnamon flavored gum. The funny thing is we don’t even get to mingle with the cinnamon gum for an extra 5 seconds because the baby powder on steroids is just way too pumped and excited to take the spotlight and sit on the drydown throne for the next 12 hours. Oh, and please, stop waiting for that “dirty” aroma because this thing is super linear once u reach the BABY POWDER ON STEROIDS stage. This thing is soooo FULL-ON powder that it reminds me of that one Mean Girls scene where Janis told Cady she smelled like a baby prostitute 🎀 like at this point I know it was canon for them to name this as anything that’s associated with “powder” but when i picture “1000 bottles of baby powder by Frederic Malle” it’s sooo not their branding so they wanted to be edgy with 😈musc ravageur🤘 but did it make sense? Was it really a devastating musk? No. In my opinion this isn’t devastating in the sense that you BADLLYY wanna hump someone because they smell “sexy” 😭 girl be fr do u find baby powder the scent of seduction? 😭 do you guys find baby powder sexy? 🤨🤨🤨 DO YOU??????????? Ok maybe it is subtly sexy for some people but like where do people find the “hot sex” in this fragrance? WHERE?! 👹 because all i’m getting is a lady all dressed in rococo—HELLLLLL this would’ve made more sense if it was the actual “Portrait of a Lady”. When I smell this all i can think of is the painting entitled “The Swing” which has some naughty details but nothing too sexual. That’s just the amount of sexiness in here, not some raunchy sweaty sex like some of yall claimed. Surprisingly tho, despite it being such a linear baby powder on steroids smell, there are times when I get caught off-guard because when it’s wafting through the air I get a very subtle smell of milk tea 🧋 Yes Milk. Tea. but fully coated in BABY POWDDERRRRRRR It’s not like a gourmand milk tea or whatever but it’s a really creamy black tea scent, almost like the milky tea you’d get from Gris Charnel but sweetened it with—of course I can’t stress this enough—BABY POWDERRRRRR. Regarding similar scents, I did get this in the hopes of getting a dirtier CK Obsession for men (and I LOVEEEE that fragrance) because some people voted it as similar. Is it truly similar? hmm, honestly, it’s confusing. It’s there but quite not there. CK Obsession has that same sweetened baby powder smell of FM’s MR but the sexy whisky + cola note in CK’s OfM is just way too loud. They smell more similar when ur just randomly catching it in the air I guess? Tho I do get MR in Obsession for Men if I really have to dig my nose through it and find that MR aspect in it. It’s there but it needs corrective lenses for clarity. I’d say Bal a Versailles is a closer smell to Musc Ravageur more than CK Obsession. It has the same sweet BABBYYY POWDDERRR loudness. As a bonus, BaV is where the missing “skankiness” in Musc Ravageur takes action. Bal a Versailles is literally how y’all explained Musc Ravageur to smell like. BaV is where the hot sweaty sex is at 😭 I wouldn’t say it’s a 1:1 dupe but they sure do have some similar facets !! My only problem with BaV is that she can smell a bit too “grape cough syrup” that reminds me of a nostalgic pissy bed (she does smell a bit pissy too) and childhood fever dreams but it’s a great alternative if ur craving Musc Ravageur but want to save ur wallet from the hefty price tag (and yes CK Obsession for Men could also work). My beautiful take on these similar fragrances tho is that MR, BaV, and OfM aren’t triplets but more like an erotic trilogy Musc Ravageur - Before sex Bal a Versailles - During Obsession for Men - After Maybe mixing the other two can make them smell more identical to Musc Ravageur? Umm i guessssssss. Another fragrance that reminded me of MR was Kenzo Jungle L’Elephant except you replaced the extreme clove sweetness with suffocating baby powder. Again, not a 1:1 dupe but super similar in character !! It’s like they have the same milk tea/chai latte base but they said “Hey, so we have two test subjects. Let’s choke one sample with the sweetness of the whole population’s supply of baby powder and douse the other one with the sweetness of 983646383975449 cloves” It’s crazy how I even thought the arm I sprayed with Kenzo was Musc Ravageur after 30 mins of wear because they have the same intensity of sweetness 😭 However, the sweetness of this fragrance isn’t the only thing intense about it, the performance is also very INTENSE. help i only sprayed this three times and 5 people on the train had to cover their nose as I sat near them, ofc, I heard some coughs, and I totally saw how some people stood 1 meter away from me. I felt sorry for them but at the same time I was giggling abt it bc i know i was the reason - hoobastank like i felt so powerful lmao 😭 Maybe the musc isn’t what’s devastating abt this, it’s the people’s reactions around you when you wear it 🥸 but do we care? No !! 🥰 so be unapologetic and leave their nostrils devastated YIPEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEE I now name this “People’s Nostrils Ravageur” 👹 well that’s enough yapping Tl;dr - I love this fragrance 💅 9.15/10 edit: I realized this just now that it kinda smells like my nivea lip balm

SoTD - Musc Ravageur by Frederic Malle "A sensual perfume, powerful yet perfectly controlled, dramatic and mysterious. Composed by Maurice Roucel as an “act of seduction and generosity”, Musc Ravageur is an uncompromising Oriental, which trumps current fads. Its explosive departure of bergamot, tangerine and cinnamon is set against a backdrop of vanilla, musk and amber. A sexy, turbulent perfume, in one word: ravageur." I can't tell you how much I enjoy reading the superfluous, often false marketing that perfumers and brands come up with to describe their fragrances. Partly because I too, am afflicted with the same disease of verbose nonsense, and in part because they're often wildly off base, and a less evolved part of my being enjoys laughing at them in secret. However this time, it is all too accurate. Abstractly, perhaps. But accurate nonetheless. Musc Ravageur is an incredibly difficult fragrance to describe. It is deceptive, and takes great pleasure in tormenting me, and every time I think I've got a grasp on it, something throws me for a loop. Is it frustrating? Hardly. No, the experience is very much enjoyable, like trying to catch a glimpse of something mythical and fleeting. Musc Ravageur is incredibly simple, yet infinitely complex, and it is within the nuances and depth, that Musc Ravageur truly shines and displays itself as it is. And it needs a great deal of observation to truly appreciate it in it's entirety. One needs to smell and smell again (hardly a difficult task) to find the bite of cinnamon, the heat of cloves and the deliciously edible vanilla, but the impression, by and large, communicates a delicate mirage of soft skin, silken sheets, cashmere blankets, hushed whispers, and low lighting. It is sensual almost to the point of debauchery. It is warm, inviting, criminally seductive, almost like (and please pardon my bluntness) an erotic novel unfolding on the skin. Truth be told, if Casanova had a fragrance, this would be it. Onto the fragrance itself, in slightly more detail, before my train of thought drags me further off track. The fragrance opens with a blast of citrus and spice, in the strangest manner. It can't be described as fresh, it can't be described as spicy. The opening is fleeting, but it sets the tone for this (admittedly bottom heavy) fragrance in the perfect way. It is difficult, if not impossible, to explain how this is the case, but it is. They come, they tease, and then they disappear, giving way very quickly to the cinnamon and clove in a beautiful symphony of warmth. And just as the spices truly begin to bloom, they're joined by musks, vanilla, woods and amber. And here, in the "base" is where Musc Ravageur truly becomes the legend it is known far and wide as. Every note mingling in perfect harmony, becoming something that transcends "just perfumery" and becomes art in earnest. The spices, the deep amber, the sweet vanilla, the warm musk, makes for a blend that defies all description. The vanilla is sweet, almost like ice cream, and would perhaps be too much by itself. But the dark, almost bitter woods balance it, lending a bite to the base, even as the amber adds depth and gives the impression of a golden twilight on supple skin. And supple skin is truly what shines through as the light dusting of musk makes it's way through the blend, trickling through, almost ghostly in it's prominence. And the musk itself, while hardly animalic, is far from neutral, just raw enough to pay homage to it's name. The dark, velvety cloak of seduction that one dons when they wear Musc Ravageur is truly dangerous, to others, and to the self. It smells unapologetically of carnality, and unmistakably of sophistication, and in doing so toes many lines, between prim and debauche, between soft and loud, between innocence and sin, and between mortal and the divine. There is nothing quite like this, to my nose. And I seldom wear it, not for lack of want, but for fear of being enslaved by it's soft whispers. I have rarely, if ever, called a fragrance flawless. But to me, Musc Ravageur is just that. True perfection.

@ahmednaseri I’ll add some perspective from someone who has gone through a substantial amount of Musc Ravageur over many years and across multiple eras of the fragrance that was, for a long time, my signature. From direct experience, I can state plainly that every post 2015 bottle of Musc Ravageur is a crap compared to what the fragrance used to be. There were variations between 2000 and 2014 of course, but those were nuances, balance shifts and stylistic differences, not fundamental changes. The animalic core and overall structure were intact. In 2017, Frederic Malle noticeably experimented with the formula. Those batches smelled different from both earlier and later versions, not necessarily bad, but unmistakably stripped of the raw animalic character that defined Musc Ravageur. This change wasn’t limited to the animalic facet alone, the entire pyramid was altered, with notes rebalanced, muted, or replaced, resulting in a fragrance that behaves very differently on skin. This aligns closely with IFRA-driven reformulation constraints, where the reduction or removal of key animalic (fecal/indolic) molecules makes true continuity impossible. Once structural components are gone, the fragrance simply cannot be the same, something we’ve seen repeatedly with other reformulated classics. (Aventus, Kouros, Antaeus, etc...) The real breaking point came under Estee Lauder’s ownership. From 2015 onward, Musc Ravageur was fundamentally altered, and batches from 2021-2022 onward are not even remotely similar to the original composition. At that point, it ceased to function as my signature simply because pre Estée Lauder versions are no longer realistically available on the market. In fact, L’Erbolario Meharees today smells closer to vintage Musc Ravageur than Musc Ravageur itself does, which speaks volumes about how far the scent has drifted from its roots. This isn’t nostalgia or collector bias, it’s formulation reality. Musc Ravageur wasn’t gently softened, it was effectively dismantled, and what remains is a shadow of the animalic masterpiece it once was. Those who experienced Musc Ravageur before these changes will understand - for everyone else, this discussion doesn’t really exist.

Hello. I'm Helsinki, and I'm guilty as charged. Here's my story. I lost my Musc Ravageur virginity this evening while bar-hopping. Thought that Idole d'Armani or Divin'Enfant was my ultimate confidence fragrance. Bollocks. Ravageur is remarkably musky-sexy-magnetic outdoors. When indoors, you get the erroneous impression that MR is stifled and nonexistent. No, no. All the while it's working like charm behind your back. It's like a [well-trained] dog. It does tricks that serve and please its owner. Ravageur unleashes its animalistic side when "hunting" and also in private. It's not loud but therein lies the... devilishness.. of it. The closer, the hotter. Scene #1: A twentysomething couple passes me by in the stairs. The woman turns around and wants to have a look at my shimmering scarf. Then she sniffs at me, asks what I'm wearing. The next thing I know she kisses me on the lips and says to her boyfriend "I'd do her." Scene #2: This happens minutes after the first scene. I'm walking up the stairs, making my way out of the bar. I'm feeling very flirtatious. A man grabs me. Hugs me, presses me against him. (I give in.) Kisses me on the mouth. I smile devilishly and simply walk away. Scene #3: Next, I go to a very loud, crowded and well-lit British bar called "The Grill" which I've never dared to go to before because it's always full of forty/fiftysomething businessmen. Tonight, I felt like I had the cojones to do anything. (I blame it on Ravageur.) I had a chat with a handsome guy. When I was leaving and intended to give him two cheek kisses, he tried to kiss me on the lips - I dodged. An hour later, I see him at another bar. He notices me, walks straight to me, and kisses me on the mouth. Victoriously, he winks at me. _ Just before saying "I'm Katie Puckrick and I smell", you'll hear the words "When I wear Musc Ravageur, I feel... PRAWW." I'm not a big fan of Katie, but I have to admit: She absolutely nailed it. Praww.

Mouse011, I have bottles from pre-2008 all the way to 2021. The fragrance has gone through several formulations, but not all formulations mean it’s a bad thing. One bottle I have from before 2008 (very old bottles have no batch codes or production dates on the bottom so it could be anywhere between 2000 to 2008). This one has the most pronounced synthetic animalics of all the other bottles I have. It’s actually not my favorite because I find the overuse of the synthetic animalics makes it unbalanced. Then there’s the second formula from two bottles I have; 2010 and 2011. These are IMO the best smelling batches of Musc Ravageur. The intermix of the sweet notes with the animalics convey an almost phantom honey note. Another bottle I have bought in 2014 post-Estee Lauder acquisition, this one has the current shiny cap that FM use to this day. This is my least favorite formula. It’s too powdery and dry, with amped up cloves (not 100% sure if it is cloves) that drowns out the phantom honey note. This formula ran between 2014 to 2018. I have a 30ml bottle from 2018 that smells exactly the same as 2014. Then in 2019 FM reformulated the fragrance again. This time, they brought it back closer to the 2010-2011 bottles. Most of the time, it’s hard to tell them apart as a standalone, unless you compare them side-by-side. The only difference I can discern is the newer formula has an added transparent woody note that rounds out everything and makes it slightly less vintage smelling. This formula is the same across all the 10ml bottles I have between 2019 to 2021. The phantom honey note is also less obvious, but all in all, I’m very satisfied with the current formula. It’s very balanced and stays true to the original scent and I wear it often. As a summary, MR has gone through at least 4 formulations from the bottles I have: - Pre-2008 - 2010/2011 - 2014-2018 - 2019 to now

Due to the high price tag of this fragrance, I decided to purchase a 5ml decanted tester to start off. A blind buy at that price is too risky for this guy. I haven't a lot of time with this fragrance yet so I review based on my experience so far. Right off the hop I get a deer musk scent. Almost a doe estrus like scent or buck musk or maybe tarsal gland mixed with cinnamon, warm spice and a little vanilla. I get very little sweet gourmand and almost no citrus/fresh scent from this at all. I think this is due to how well it is blended as none of the notes really stand out alone. Strangely, I get the citrusy-sweet notes when I splashed warm water on it in the shower... odd Update: I get the cinnamon bun gourmand notes that a lot of other reviewers seem to mention only when I smell the atomizer. I believe many are mentioning these notes because they are reviewing this fragrance after being sprayed on a test strip or clothing. The fragrance creates a much more sensual, soft vanilla spicy, musky scent when applied to clean moist skin. I never recommend applying fragrance to clothing as it doesn't allow the fragrance to mix with natural body chemistry creating a cheap feel to the fragrance. I absolutly love this fragrance and how well it is blended. The notes come together seamlessly to create one single unique and very sensual fragrance. As of yet, I am unsure of the sillage of this fragrance, it seems fairly intimate and a little weak after about an hour of dry down time and a skin scent after about 3 hours. I may possibly have gone a little nose blind after a couple of hours. Be that as it may, the dry down is absolutly amazing! Warm spicy, a tad gourmand, lightly musky and animalic with a little vanilla all expertly balanced into one outstandingly sexy fragrance. Definitly one for the collection.

musc ravageur smells a bit like syrupy medicine, but in a sexy way, not a sterile cold & flu way. it's less "dimetap" or "vaporub your parents put on your chest at bedtime when you were a sick child" and more like "if you were in the dark ages and consulted the village witch (due for execution- gotta be quick) on how to seduce the hoes, and she brews you a concoction from an ancient apothecarial formula, for centuries put away as a safety precaution." musc ravageur is wine-tipsy chemsex with your dominatrix with a live organist playing toccata and fugue in d minor in the background (safeword=fidelio), or highly competitive strip chess with a cult-gathering audience, or the feeling when you notice a woman out at dinner, church, or a cemetery (her wantonness-inspiring allure makes the situation irrelevant). in the opinion of a macabre-obsessed, very gay woman, musc ravageur is as sophisticated as it is filthy. irrelevant note: i have had a feud with my sibling since december last year about this fragrance. he hates it and thinks it smells like urine which inspired me to, from time to time, wear it and ask him the loaded question “what do you think of my perfume?,” (which is a question one might hear from me literally every time i put something on), feigning an innocence he unfailingly caught each time, saying to me, "i know this is the toilet perfume." well, i wore it today, having already accepted my failure in trying to deceive him into liking it. then suddenly mid-conversation he makes a face, sniffs, and says “i quite like that perfume actually,” without prompt. i won the feud. this is also why i returned to this page.

I was on the fence the first time i tried this at Neiman two years ago. And if there's one thing i learned during the past 4 years of my fragrance journey, the "on the fence" perfume will almost always turn into a "can't f*cking get enough of this i need to bathe in it" perfume. This is refined eroticism—cosy and enveloping, but erotic, untouchably so. Opens with a blast of cinnamon, lavender and bergamot, then unsweetened vanilla and the most fluffy cat fur musk emerge from behind. I don't usually like animalics but the skank here is very soft, balancing out the sweetness, adding depth and complexity. I'm glad i took my time to appreciate this scent because it's my cold weather signature now, can never leave the house without it. Contrary to popular opinion, i don't actually think this is strictly an intimate time perfume. It's too complex a personality to be reduced to nothing more than a tool of seduction, and that warm musk + soft spices combo gives it a come-hither quality that's just too proud to make the first move. It does have incredible prowess, however, and you either have what it takes to own it in broad daylight or you don't. My only complaint is the vanilla; i feel like it can be a little thicker, creamier, more decadent while maintaining that unsweetened quality. Maybe i've been spoiled rotten by the indulgent Guerlain vanilla, but to me this smells more like vanilla powder than actual vanilla beans.

I think I belong to the category of the late-to-the-party enjoyers of Musc Ravageur. Wherever I read reviews, people always seem to regret the earlier formulations, before Estee Lauder stepped in. I personally have never smelled the earlier versions, so I do not know what I am missing, and maybe I wouldn't like this new version so much if it had the original amount of animalic notes in it. I am a big fan of subtle warm vanilla and also unique, almost weird fragrances, and this one checks all my boxes. To me Musc Ravageur is a subtle masterpiece and definitely something we need more of. I've grown to love it the more I smell it, and weirdly, my brain has associated the smell to the mobile game "Infinity Blade" because I was playing it a lot when I wore this. It is one of my favorite childhood iOS games, so it's fine with me. On my skin, Musc Ravageur develops very softly, with the initial spray being very strong and then it quickly calms down to a warm skin scent. The "cat piss" note I hear some people talking about is noticeable during the first few minutes after spraying, but I've gotten used to it, being part of the weirdness of this perfume. Unfortunately this doesn't last very long on my skin at all. I think you would need to overspray this if you have the money to do it. And if you do, maybe go look for a longer-lasting fragrance... actually now I'm curious to smell the OG one.

I had heard so much about this fragrance that my expectations were sky-high before I even sprayed it. Thankfully, it didn’t just meet them—it surpassed them. From the very first spray to the final stages of the dry down, everything feels seamless and beautifully composed. The blend is exceptionally smooth, with no rough edges or awkward transitions. The amber facet particularly caught my attention, occasionally reminding me of Grand Soir, although this fragrance ultimately carves out its own distinct identity. What impresses me most is the quality of the composition. It feels luxurious, refined, and meticulously crafted—a true masterclass in perfumery. Every time I wear it, I discover another nuance that makes me appreciate it even more. Performance is excellent. The projection and sillage are noticeable without being overwhelming, and the longevity is outstanding. There’s no denying that it’s expensive, but this is one of those rare fragrances where the price feels justified by the experience it delivers. If you’re on the fence, I would highly recommend sampling it. To my nose, this fragrance is simply spellbinding—captivating, and utterly addictive. The kind of scent that keeps drawing you back for another sniff and reminds you why you fell in love with fragrances in the first place.

@planroom02 From my many years of experience with fragrances, it unfortunately keeps proving true that older is almost always better, unless the scent itself has actually gone bad 😄 If you manage to find an older version (anything pre-Estee Lauder is enough, it doesn’t even need to have the matte cap), I’d strongly recommend picking it up at a reasonable price, of course. You’ll immediately understand the crucial differences in the scent and just how much the reformulation has damaged what Musc Ravageur used to be. What people are discussing today under the name Musc Ravageur is something I honestly don’t recognize at all. I’m especially puzzled when I read about its supposed "animalic" character. In the current formulation, that animality simply isn’t there. At this point, it feels more like a form of subconscious suggestion, fueled by older reviews rather than the scent itself. Sometimes it seems as if the word "animalic" is being applied so loosely that even something like Dolce & Gabbana Light Blue could qualify. Truly animalic fragrances still exist on the market today, but Musc Ravageur, in its modern form, is simply not one of them. It used to be an animalic beast. Now, it’s something else entirely.

Everything I want my skin to smell like. An ode to desire, to sweet, sensual human warmth. It is French olfactory sophistication meeting the spices and ambers of the East to create sensuality in its purest form, elegant, dramatic, and utterly captivating. Musc Ravageur gives the impression of being inevitable, as if it simply could not have been composed any other way. The balance of its accords is truly sublime. It opens with a light, gently sparkling freshness, somewhere between lavender and tangerine, but almost immediately it is enveloped by the creamy sweetness of vanilla, enriched by the spicy warmth of cinnamon, all resting on an endless amber and musk base that evokes the scent of warm skin. It feels deliberately crafted to suggest that this is the most sensual scent the human body could naturally exude, a theatrical reinterpretation of carnality that is sweet, intimate, and deeply seductive, yet never excessively torrid or vulgar. The quality of the musk is remarkable. To my nose, it gives the skin an almost three-dimensional presence, making it feel startlingly alive. This is my personal ticket to the journey of love through the world of perfumery.

Wow this is breathtaking. To me it smells like if grand soir and tobacolor had a baby, it's the best version of both of those. Now, with that being said, I don't really like tobacolor, but I really like grand soir. This takes away everything I don't like about tobacolor, and adds everything that's missing from grand soir. The performance of this fragrance is to me, perfect. It lasts a really long time. Anywhere from 10-12 hours on skin, yet it doesn't project like other fragrances. This leaves a clear scent trail, but even sitting in my car it's hardly noticable. It's really non-offensive, and the people around you won't smell it all the time, but will get beautiful whiffs of this. Price to me is subjectively worth it. I am not shy of spending quite a bit on fragrances, and this is one of the ones I've felt is worth the steep pricetag it holds. Here in my country there aren't a lot of discounters, so retail is usually the only option, leaving this fragranve significantly cheaper than anything from for instance Amouage. I remember seeing someone say this smells fluffy. Like a fluffy vanilla. I like that description.

Having spent time with this fragrance, I find myself agreeing with Maurice Roucel. Musc Ravageur is not a musk perfume in the strict sense, but rather a deeply sensual, oriental-spicy composition with a noticeable musk accent. The animalic nuances play an important role, yet they do not define its character. The scent leans toward the gourmand territory, though in my view it ultimately resists easy classification. The same applies to gender: it is difficult to assign Musc Ravageur to either side. I would love to smell it on the neck of someone I love, yet wearing it myself felt more than comfortable. In this respect, Roucel’s creation is nothing short of remarkable — and, on the surface, deceptively simple. If there is a drawback, it may be the relatively subtle development on skin. Yes, Musc Ravageur evolves, but within a fairly narrow range and at an unhurried pace. Still, considering how multifaceted it is from the very beginning, this hardly feels like a serious flaw — more a minor quibble. My rating: Highly recommended! (7/7)

Updating my review from finding it 'okayish' to 'love' this fragrance. This perfume is the epitome of masculinity in a bottle. When I first smelled it, I didn't like it at all, and thought to myself how do people even like this perfume. Anyway, I bought a 10ml travel spray of this perfume, and give it a few wears, and I fell absolutely in love with this masterpiece. This is highly masculine, dirty, animalic perfume. Not everyone would appreciate it, but this is what I would wear on a date night. I finished the 10ml spray, and bought another 30ml travel spray, as I was getting it at a cheaper price. Definitely a bottle worthy fragrance. I showed this perfume to my girlfriend, and her first reaction was 'wow, this is very manly'. She liked it a lot, and loves when I wear this perfume. It is long lasting, with good projection and silage, on me lasts for around 6h. Few things to note about this - Not a safe blind buy. Def. test before you buy. Not for teenagers or people in their 20s. This is def. suitable for older audience 30-35+

Haven’t tried old formulation mine is from 2023 at least it says so when I checked the badge code. I’ve tried it in a department store and purchased in online a few days after. I love it has so many facets to it. On my skin unfortunately it sits really slide to the skin almost like a skin scent 😭. On my skin the musk, vanilla, lavender, clove and cinnamon are the stars. It has this candle waxy quality to it which u love. Like perfumed candle with lavender and vanilla sprinkled with bits of cinnamon. It has very very slight warm dirtyness about it which I love (not at all extreme). More like the leftovers from a perfume on the skin of someone u just had sex to. It has this warm human skin quality to it which I somehow really like. If only projection was a bit stronger 😭😭. Will update later about the longevity. Lots of people here say it’s really long lasting hopefully on my skin too.. Update: at some point I get this slight masala chai smell at least my brain associates it with it. I do like it.

Oh, this is big and enveloping. Perfectly unisex though on me it feels feminine - my skin amplifies the sweet notes. Warm, mysterious, grown up. Musk dominates, together with amber and guaiac wood that I love. Vanilla sweetens it. To a lesser extend notes of lavender softened to a nearly unrecognizable flower by tonka beans are also present. Somewhere far away something feline, animalic lurks. Vanilla and cloves equal tonka and lavender. Smaller dose of orris gives it an earthy, powdery feel. Sandalwood, cedar - these notes I can also pick up. Worth the hype. It has also gently floral facets with peachy osmanthus and soft rose. A great pleasure. On my wish list it goes. It is such a joy to perceive so many parts like in caleidoscope. Yet the warm base notes stand up front. Perfect for winter, possibly o.k for a cold autumn, too. But for winter? Wow. It will be equally good on a male, for sure. Through the powdery and warm sandalwood it reminds me of Satine by Lalique.

I have no idea why it took me so long to test this fragrance even though I knew it for a long time. I never made it to ordering a sample and never had an opportunity to smell it in a fragrance store. But a week ago I finally did order a sample set and oh my god this is good. It's different from what I anticipated, I thought it would have been ...dirtier I guess and also weirder. It has some notes that I see as "masculine" and it definitely reminds me of some scent my husband used to use when we met (maybe penhaligon's sartorial or some other a bit older thing they have/had). But it's still very unisex. I smell also honey even though it's not listed. And this is a rare fragrance for me as it does not have a single note that bothers me in some way. It's like a shoe that doesn't give blisters or need wear to feel good. Straight to my I-need-this -list (a list that very ofter waits for good deals and this too is so expensive)

The white musk is taking me down memory lane but I can’t quite place the why. Its mysterious. Reminds me of my grandmother. Maybe her country club? Were white musks popular in the late eighties early nineties? The mall in the early nineties... probably white musk from the body shop near the high end fashion. Well as high end as the midwest gets. Anyway clean 90’s country club vibes topped with warm spicy. Took a minute to get used to but now it’s pretty addicting. For some reason i get more late summer vibes off this than early fall more than just fall/winter. Also more day than night so I’m all sorts of backwards on this one. Think I might be nose blind to the animalic scents here everyone picks up. I get maybe a light sweat from this - maybe from the tennis courts of that country club. People wearing white tennis outfits. A little further off kids splash in the pool. Ace of base plays on the radio.

What a masterpiece of a fragrance man. It literally makes me feel warm inside, never had that happen before with any fragrance. It starts off old school masculine with lavender, citrus, and a bomb of cloves. It eventually dies down into a spicy, ambery cinnamon roll to my nose. It sort of stays like that, but this furry, raw smelling musk comes through and makes a bubble around you. It is strong and projects very well. I took a shower around hour 8 so at least 8 hours performance. I literally said "ooooh wow" at the first sniff of this. I do have a bad association with lavender/clove combo though. Im allergic to bug spray so the "natural" repellant would be clove and lavender essential oils. So, at times it can remind me of that bug spray but only if I think about the cloves aspect of this. But, that doesnt take away from the masterpiece that is Musc Ravageur. 10/10

I feel kind of sad because everyone says that this smells sweet and like vanilla, but I smell zero vanilla, which is partially why I wanted it so much. To me it smells very animalic, while the cloves, musk, and patchouli are all very obvious to my nose too. It’s very hard for me to describe the smell fully, even though I swear I’ve smelled this before. Like a warm day and you’re horseback riding, and you lean it and smell your horses mane. Not sweaty and nasty, but clearly animal. But it also smells like an old fur coat that was left at a pawnshop, and the person who used to own it burned incense often. Those things probably don’t sound good, I know when I described it like that to a family member they made a face, but I LOVE IT. Animalic, dirty, spicy. Sexy, even if the way I describe it is anything but that. I wish the larger bottles weren’t so expensive.

I believe this is probably the greatest fragrance in its category of all time. While it is a love it or hate it fragrance, when it is love, it is obsession. It smells like lust. It smells like innocence. It smells soft. It smells rough and dirty. It smells like a rock star. It smells like a porn star. It smells vintage. It smells hip and trendy. It smells light and it smells heavy. This fragrance is a contradiction in every sense of the word. It is magnificent. I have unfortunately only smelled this on myself. If I smelled it on another person I am afraid I would stalk them and hide in their bushes and peep in their windows. I am not even going to attempt to describe the notes because it is different for everyone. Musc Ravageur is not simply a fragrance, it is an experience. One you will never forget. Love it or hate it, you certainly won't forget it.

Ladies and gentlemen. Once you are able to appreciate Musc Ravaguer you are in the fragrances end game. You on S tier, and you will have a hard time finding the next scent that is this complex. This is a real definition of carnal. This is what those “pheromones-scent” aspire to be. This is what sex panther would smell like if it’s real, in a positive manner. But wait, there this zen-incense vibe that this gives too. This can smell religious. It smells of someone completely zoned in. You can wear this to church/temple/mosque or whatever place of worship you belong too, and YET head out to Berghain and get yourself in a 3-way because your smell is going to turn some switches. This is danger. This is confidence. This is comforting. This is a 10 out of 10 scent.

My 2023 bottle just came in. I had a vintage over 15 years old perhaps. As someone else said their old bottle turned. The old vintage had a stronger musc. Some saying it was the sexiest fragrance. Perhaps, but I don't want to smell too sexy most of the time :) The new version is more wearable for me. The musc is more in balance, and understated. That beautiful accord is still there of musc, cinnamon, clove and vanilla. Very nice nuances of lavender, and coriander. Touches of orange peel, and a tad of florals, to soften things up a bit. The dry-down gets even better. The vanilla intensifies, in a cinnamon, musk, vanilla accord. The new version is very close to old vintage bottles. I think I prefer it. Rating: 9.25/10 God bless. On my skin, Musc Ravageur is a spicy sex-bomb: it opens with fiery cinnamon and clove over a creamy vanilla/amber base, then softens into a warm, subtly animalic skin scent that feels like vintage oriental meets modern musk. It’s sweet but not a sugar bomb – more like spiced rice pudding and warm skin – with just a hint of dirtiness that makes it dangerously addictive rather than polite. Projection is strong for the first couple of hours, then it settles into a seductive halo. Longevity is easily 6–8 hours, clinging to clothes the next day. This is definitely not a fresh office fragrance; it’s more “lights down low and come closer” territory. If you love spicy vanilla-ambers and grown-up musks, this is a masterpiece.

It achieves a perfect harmony with its light powdery and animalic musk notes, along with the cinnamon and clove scent that reaches my nose. As it dries down, the musk and vanilla come to the forefront. While the animalic notes were more prominent in previous batches, now there is a more refined use of animalic musk. Personally, I liked the old version better, but now it appeals to a wider audience and still smells good. You can wear it in cold weather, in elegant settings, or even when meeting up with friends. Regarding the price, yes, it is expensive. But I think a 50ml bottle of this perfume will be enough. We won't use it all the time, but when we do, it will liven up the atmosphere. 10/10

6 months thinking 🤔 about this fragrance,very expensive released nearly 3 decades ago so l was reading comments about reformulating version cuz l was scared,you can admit that this must be reformulated at least 5 times and couple days ago l see this on discounters for 170€ which is not too expensive for this brand and immediately purchase on blind buy and maaaaaan😩😍 l can admit this is Masterpiece , addictive,rich old money vibe🔥✨ that all talking about for a reason so my batch is nearly 1 year old and l can smell on my hand next day on one spray only so happy for his successful blind buy for this one more Masterpiece in my collection 🙏🏻🔥✨

I thought this would be a beast mode fragrance and beast mode scent. It actually turned out to be a very gentlemanly scent. amazing scent. starts off strong and then tones down. the dry down is amazing as well. it doesn't project as much as i would like it to. it does create a pretty good scent bubble but for very close encounters. definitely could be considered as a signature scent. I did sort of bought this without watching any reviews or reading much about it - i remembered smelling it a few years back, at some counter and that was it, i actually blind bought it. this is what i wanted Orpheon to smell like. 9/10

Rock Rose on a bed of vanilla and cinnamon. I had a cat named Silver, She recently passed away after 25 years on this earth and although I've had people pass that I've known in my life, nothing shook me like her passing did for whatever the reason. Silver loved to cuddle but when she was tired of me she'd definitely let me know that she was the queen and I should do as she says. Musc Ravageur smells like the fluffy tuft of fur I used to nuzzle right under her neck. I will "God willingly" always own a bottle of Musc Ravageur to remind me that I was lucky to have really loved something.

This is so complex, I feel like I'm being taken through a **'~cinematic journey ~'** It's a Benjamin Button perfume, perfect for the ADHD kiddos who will stay occupied with the different notes in this scent for a good 2 hours. Fun exercise spray it on two arms, do one arm, then wait 15 min do another. The difference in the stages that the 2 arms are in is palpable. I think I've gotten it down to GREEN > CINNAMON/ CLOVE/ SPICY ROSE > AMBER/ COZY SPA. Slightly nauseating, but I want to keep smelling it. I might need a psych eval or a retreat with a caramel lollipop now.

I’m gonna make this short. The reviews here are divided into two groups. So there is a high possibility you will fit into one of them: 1. Young people that think this smells like cat piss and grandmas old clothes. Their favorite perfumes are Aventus and Imagination 2. Mature people that are not virgins anymore, who think it smells like straight up sex in the drydown A little side note... Malle himself described this to be sex in a bottle and was never meant for a younger audience anyway What do I think personally? I think it’s one of the best creations ever released

As years goes by the reformulations gets more polite and easier to use My bottle is 10 years old. Musc Ravageur is a DARING fragrance that require multiple prerequisite before wearing: 1. Perfect weather 2. Perfect mood 3. Perfect outfit 4. Perfect occasion It so powerful, thick , fluffy & furry slightly animalic deer musk feel With undeniable strong Gourmand core of Cinabon/Pumpkin Spiced Vanilla Absolute In addition to hints of aromatic notes of lavender and some florals to support the backbone. I love it , but I know it got limited uses. Cheers

I love this one. The opening hits hard with clove and cinnamon, then settles into a smooth mix of vanilla, tonka, and musk. I had a newer bottle, and the animalic edge people often mention in older batches wasn’t very noticeable. It’s toned down, which makes the scent more wearable and, in my opinion, more appealing. Performance is still solid with the newer formulation. Five sprays easily gave me 7-8 hours. I only let this go because I own Le Lion, which fills the same role in my collection and is the one I reach for more often.

The sexiest, more animalic, sugarly sweaty - in a good way- skin-like scent with, unfortunately the most intimate sillage. What I would like shalimar to smell, spicy, a little vanilla, spicy minus the civet. Spectacular! Leans, to my nose, a little bit more feminine, but unisex nontheless. It s really shame it does not perform well , not only for the outrageous high price but for any price. I can appreciate the idea and the structure etc, but I want to smell me after an hour or two. Is this too much to ask?

I smelled this a few years ago and it was delicious and sexy but animalic and slightly challenging. I loved it and I could not get its sexy carnal nature off my mind for a good while. I smelled it again a few days ago in the same shop as before and it smelled sweet floral and ambery, it was inoffensive, even somewhat mass appealing with no sexy musk and nothing animalic or dark. Was I having an off day or has this been reformulated again?

In very simple terms, this is one of the best if not the best ways to enjoy musk. This is somewhat complex delicious ambery, vanilla like musky scent. Similar to Guerlain's Shalimar. Very classic IMO and can be enjoyed or flaunted. Lasts all day no problem. It's a very beautiful scent but please sample before you acquire. For me personally, this is going to be a staple scent. Gorgeous scent for real but takes a while to understand.

Really beautiful perfume—opens sweet and warm and spicy, and I start to pick up the animalic notes after a minute or two. I wouldn’t necessarily call myself a fan of animalics, but I can’t stop putting my wrist/shirt to my nose when I wear it. On clothes, the spices come through for much longer, which I really enjoy. Definitely sample first! Could see myself getting a bigger decent followed by a full bottle

Musc Ravegeur is an impressive Gourmand. The issue with gourmands in general, and ESPECIALLY modern-day gourmands is their inability to balance their sweetness (I’m looking at you, amore caffe, italica, and bianco latte). Musc Ravageur has this almost primal sweetness. It almost smells like having sex on a thanksgiving table which has pumpkin pie, root beer, and egg nog on it. So unique and addictive

If you enjoy Manhattan EDP from Roja Dove, you'll like Musc Ravageur. They are similar in spice notes, but Musc Ravageur is softer and slightly more feminine leaning IMO due to the soft lavender note that lasts from initial burst to dry down. It's a beautiful scent that sits close to the skin with a calming narcotic quality that draws you in. It is sexy and powdery. Definitely blind buy worthy.

Definitely in the vein of Shalimar (more EDT than EDP as far as the notes), smells like the opening and the first half of the drydown. Bright, almost minerally citrus opening, becomes a warmly sweet vanilla and cinnamon with a leathery musk on the drydown. This is a great autumnal and winter scent. My sample is quite strong, beaming up from my wrists. Full bottle worthy.

Softer than I expected, powdery, semi sweet and interesting. Feel it really meshes with natural scent. It seems mostly inoffensive , but still somewhat addicting. Definitely has depth and evolves over time. Reads slightly on the mature - ish side to me, but I don’t hate it. Sensual, a little organic, pheremonic. Smells like going to a nice dinner and working out after.

I picked up a sample and all I got was barnyard. I couldn’t get past that sharp animalic, almost urinal smell. Came back later and it was a beautiful, powdery musk and vanilla. No explanation for the transformation, but I fell in love. Just got a FB from a discounter and can’t get enough. Amazing warm amber. Just perfect for Fall. Top tier stuff.

I have never had more men, specifically, come up to me when wearing a fragrance and tell me that I smell amazing. especially potent in a low-lit, slightly warm bar in winter. sticks to clothing and skin and is so warming. loooove 9/10 smells extremely different on everyone - it either smells insanely intoxicating or too powdery/ammoniacal

I love this perfume sprayed on the blotter, it's simply fabulous, a little bit fresher and cleaner dan Shalimar imo. I would have bought it, but after trying it on my skin I found that it smelled just like Shalimar, which I already own. This isn't the first time my skin has disappointed my expectations of a perfume... :(

Older formulation doesn't always mean better... This is my favorite fragrance of all time. However I have a decant from a 2025 batch, It's way more potent, funky and amazing than my bottle from 2021 which is too heavy on bergamot and lavender and has nowhere near the funkiness or longevity of my much newer decant.

musk ravageur is a sexy work of genius. sometimes i long to travel back in time to before i was born and experience the original formulation, which, as testified by those lucky enough to have experienced it in the early 2000s, was apparently even more beastly and scandalous than the MR we know today...

Incredibly addictive spicy ambery vanilla with a smooth patchouli base. Gosh, this stuff is super sexy on both men and women. And it's so smooth, for a scent profile as heavy as this, I can literally dig my nose into my skin and not feel the slightest bit of harshness. 10/10

@Mouse011 Yes I'm aware 2021 is not THE old formulation. What I'm saying is that older does not always mean better. It's very different from the brand new batch I tried and not as strong, long lasting musky or good in general. I would love to smell the original formulation.

I heard some people saying it smells like a cat's piss or a sweat, but to me it smells like a cozy winter day, like a cinnamon bun with chai latte. It's so warm and spicy and immediately makes my day better when I wear it. Bought my 4th bottle today! Best perfume ever.
