I have to admit that I needed to refer to the EdPFM website to see what was driving the creative vision of this perfume. Keeping the name Promise in my mind while I let it take me on an olfactory journey was confusing. Reading the EdPFM blurb on the website, it appears Monsieur Malle was a bit confused as well, and now I am even more so: "Promise is an amber perfume, illuminated by two roses. It is a tribute to the Middle East and the sacred bond represented by a promise between two people. Frédéric Malle chose to celebrate this unbreakable connection through two precious varieties of rose: Bulgarian rose essence and Turkish rose absolute." So, let me get this straight... it's a tribute to the Middle East, using what is effectively two Eastern European roses and not Arabian roses, that is also supposed to represent the vow that comes with a promise between two people - which holds no cultural distinctions since that is very much the same no matter the culture? Hmm, certainly not clear to me what we're going for here. In a different blurb on the website, it says this: "An olfactory illusion, PROMISE is a masterly perfume by Dominique Ropion for the Desert Gems collection, which recreates the alluring power of oud. Emblematic of Middle Eastern culture, oud is a natural treasure. A "black gold" with a deep, faceted scent that fascinates master perfumer Dominique Ropion. With PROMISE, he recreates all of its nobility with cypriol, a plant native to India, accompanied by precious essences of Turkish and Bulgarian roses. An olfactory celebration of the strongest bonds that can join two people, this scent induces an irrepressible appeal that connoisseurs of fragrance would be able to recognize from a crowd of a thousand." So it's a tribute to the Middle East, but its main message is that of a promise? It's an amber perfume, but really it's an oud perfume tributing its importance in Middle Eastern culture, by using cypriol from India instead of oud or agarwood from Arabia? Whatever. I don't get it. So, I'm going at this on my own. First, let me say, despite the confusion all around, it is a wonderful and weird perfume. The opening upon application is really quite bizarre - I have yet to smell anything like this accord - which is plenty of sweet red apple, in addition to dry and dusty yet slightly milky spices like saffron and clove. There are likely some other spices in there that I can't pick up. These top notes sit like a brightly colored, heavy yet silky soft blanket over the base notes that also announce themselves from the first second: a very bracing, smoky, funky oud (or cypriol according to EdPFM). It doesn't matter how thick, heavy, silky, or bright colored the blanket is, when it's draped over a camel you aren't going to be able to hide the fact that there is a camel underneath the blanket. Dominique Ropion is not trying to make the cypriol hide itself, nor does it seem he's even bothered to politely ask. After these dry down, after roughly just over an hour, here come the roses... sort of. The Bulgarian and Turkish roses are quite strange. I think I'm smelling them, but I'm honestly not sure; if I am, they are the darkest red and most indolic roses I have ever smelled. I think, at this point, I'm beginning to understand what Ropion was technically trying to do with this perfume: by adding deep, dark, indolic, and peppery sort of rose notes over some very resinous and smoky cypriol, he has, in effect, created oud without using oud. Combine these two notes with earthy patchouli and labdanum, et voila. Final thoughts, with the lesser coming first. Be careful when applying this perfume; I put one spray on each wrist and one on my neck and that is plenty. This perfume is a monster of longevity and projection. In addition to this, it is quite crass and crude in nature; sure there is great technical skill and olfactory evolution, but it is also rough around the edges, very pushy, and has a heft and deft to it that makes it the olfactory equivalent of a sledgehammer. Secondly, and most importantly: I still have no idea what this perfume has to do with promises. I still don't know how it's a tribute to the Middle East. It's not an Arabian rose-oud-leather-amber perfume, or any other similar/related combination en vogue. But, what seems to have happened at least as far as my nose can tell, is that Frederic Malle and Dominique Ropion have created perhaps the best straight oud perfume I have smelled in a very long time, and what's extremely impressive about that is no oud or agarwood was used. Malle and Ropion have collected some characters that are extremely familiar to us - apple, Middle Eastern spices, roses, cypriol, patchouli, and labdanum - and taken very specific notes from each of them to create the accord of a perfect oud in all of its fruity, spicy, floral, funky, smoky, earthy, woody glory. At least one part of one blurb is right: "This is an olfactory illusion." It's an illusion of the highest caliber. So convincing and so beautiful, you don't care in the least that it's not the real thing.

WOW....Gonna have fun breaking this one down. An instant favorite! The opening is a super tart, juicy like apple cider. A bit of freshness provided by the pink pepper. This slowly and I mean slooowly transitions into a interesting camphor/minty herbal combination of rosemary, dry clove nails and saffron that adds so much omphf to that opening with all the saffron characteristics you'd expect from it... earthy, sweetish, warm, something reminding you vaguely of leather/metallic. Man, this opening is a something else. Mysterious, and like a loving warm embrace at the same time. This opening stays for a good bit like 15-20 minutes before the a very distinctive spicey/green roses pops up. Bulgarian rose and Turkish roses are probably the most ''unrosey'' of roses.The soft floral aspect of rose is still there but you get something like honey and lemon and a slight clovey spiciness with more greenery. Turkish rose is kind of like that but more citrus like and deeper. They're a variety from the Damask species. Which probably has more recognizable qualities so it's understandable that rose doesn't jump out here for many even tho there is a lot of it in here. That mid has so much life to it. It feels green, warm, slightly sweet and very musky. That base pushes out very early giving so much lift to it. As time goes on it increasingly takes on earthy/woody quality with a VERY present earthy patchouli push along side a deep, rich castorium/labdanum amber giving a heavy, lively warm leather effect. Great use of ambroxan that you don't really pick up on by itself, but you can tell there is a strong construction in the base because of it. This won't come off easy, you can tell right away. The whole fragrance is a masterful play of rich powerful, deep notes. There's complexity to it. Emotion and character. It's for sure way more youthful and playful than lets say something like Musc Ravaguer. It has lots of transitions that come to life the longer it sits. Even tho it's dense and dark there's an playful airy composition and balance to it that allows you to breathe and not overwhelm you. A super noticeable odd smokiness is slowly creeping up on me. Actually, no it isn't straight up ''smoke'' but actually way more like a cold start diesel engine exhaust if that makes sense. It sounds weird but it really is straight up exhaust smoke. It has an accord of petrol like fume that's really pleasant. I'm in love with it. Lots of surprises. While writing this review I really had to wait a while for the next transition. The rose is now fully gone. That castorium beaver is starting to build dams now. Way more leathery. And I get something oddly piney that I can't put my finger on. The musky aura getting increasingly more animalistic. It's by no means a animalic scent. But the musk is very much alive! Some slightly sweet green balsamics that are unmentioned... I am so certain could be olibanum.. Labdanum doesn't do that. Damp soil/woody quality is now a main stay till the end. As mentioned before. This is far more youthful and mysterious in character. It has some peculiar edges around it so I can understand people not vibing with it. But this is niche as niche can be. Super artistic while being wearable with lots of confidence. Stupendous projection and longevity that we expect from FM. Lasting on myself all day, even the next day when waking up, could smell it constantly. Impossible to not get noticed with I had ecstatic compliments while wearing it. Don't wear it if you plan to be indoors for long duration tho. I can see it choke people. Unisex for sure. I think this is for someone who wants to experience real parfumery while wanting something bit more out there while remaining youthful. Lots of expression with this one. I can almost call it gothic in a way. Hands down a masterpiece. Full bottle worthy. MASTER PIECE !!!!

I got a 100ml bottle and I don’t know why because, in my life, and with the amount of fragrances I own, I will ever finish this bottle. Spolier alert: it’s potent. First of all. The myth of being a hard to wear fragrance. I waited a while to finally buy the scent. Why? Because some people here didn’t like it, or wrote things a bit harsh about this scent. Well, a way to weed the grass is to check the collection of those commenting. A big majority never owned or have them in their collection. Others that said positive things, I check their profiles and have the same type of fragrances I own. The scent. Tar green apple on the top with the rosemary, and spices, mutes any sweetness. The rosemary in here reminds me of Amouage Interlude Black Iris. Middle notes. Roses. It’s not prominent but smooth things out. The floral is not jammy or off putting. Heart. This was the part always worries me, but it’s the interesting part of it. The cypriol, what I does, I think extend the green apple smell and amplifies it. The castoreum is not funky, but as in other fragrances musk is used, this one gives a bit animalic character, but not to scare people if you are used to more creative/niche houses. Longevity and projection. Beast. When I test a fragrance, I apply it on the top of my hand to check how develops, last, etc. I was aware of the potency by just smelling the sprayer. I am glad I controlled the atomizer to not fully spray. It filled the area immediately. I didn’t need to check projection. It was beaming. It was projecting for 3-4 hours without the need to stick my nose on my hand. After that it mellow a bit, and by hour 7-8, after washing my hands twice, it died down. Full wore a week after, and I only needed 2 sprays. One on each hand, and then pressed my pressure point on my neck. Don’t get discouraged by those who only wear panty droppers, compliment puller fragrances that YouTubers make you buy using their affiliated links. Sample it. Try it. It’s better to spend a few bucks to get a sample (that will last you a few wears), than regretting blind buying. Cheers

So I feel like I have bit of a different attitude to other perfume enthusiasts: I fell neck deep into fragrances due to how I enjoy scents on myself, how I can accentuate how I want to feel any given day thanks to them. I have no imagination for how others might react or smell me, I have no idea and usually pay no mind if something is suitable for the occasion. Promise is so beautifully multifaceted that it really answers all my moods. I wear it while I gloomily work for 16 hours straight, it fits perfectly when I go out for a drink at night or when I chill with a book on crisp spring morning or when I'm running around the city while at the movie festival, all under the scorching sun intersected with intense bursts of air conditioned halls. And during any of these occasions different notes tend to take stage. Humid fall is for the roses, during winter I feel extra cosy when it dries down to its base notes and summer is when apple takes stage and it hits with such a sweetness it almost feels like a rot (...and I love it!). At the same time if you're any similar to me, it is not a fragrance which potency can be safely ignored. It will be there before you enter the room and long after. To tell you an anecdote: for some time I used few samples of it, bought directly from established perfume shop but after that I became tempted by decants. I got one, it smelled perfectly fine but I got really anxious I bought a dupe and I started to test it extensively. I wore 1 spray, 2 sprays, 3 sprays... wrote down how it all behaved... then I thought to ask my coworkers whether they feel it when they enter the room. General consensus was it's not only felt when someone enters the room but people can deduce where I was sitting up to 48 hours after I left my workplace and after many other people sat at the exactly same place. After that I toned my usage down. One could possibly turn somebody insane due to it during any long flight.

I wore Promise for the first time to a local performance of Cabaret at UCCS ENT last night, and it felt almost too perfect, like the scent and the show had conspired backstage. The fragrance was a long ago blind buy that had been set aside for a special occasion. As I walked into the dimly lit lab theater with hues of dusk from the fresnels, the air already thick with red velvet and anticipation, Promise unfurled its first act with that deep, boozy tart apple and jammy rose accord. It didn’t so much bloom politely. It prowled. By the time the orchestra struck the first Willkommen note, I was enveloped in what felt like a private aura of seduction and defiance. The pairing made sense. Cabaret isn’t about sweetness; it’s about the beauty of decay, the glamor of rebellion, and the ache of pretending everything’s fine while the world trembles outside. Promise mirrored that emotional layering of rose and oud twined together like lovers who know it can’t last, each breath steeped in both pleasure and tension. By intermission Promise had settled into its quieter phase of ambered, spicy, and a slightly resinous raspy whisper of forbidden fruit. Sitting there, I realized the fragrance was performing its own narrative arc for me by opening theatricality, deepening into longing, and closing into a hush of moral exhaustion. By curtain call, when Sally Bowles sang her last desperate “life is a cabaret,” my scent had turned introspective. Wearing Promise to Cabaret felt less like accessorizing and more like quiet participation with two works of art, one on stage and one on skin, both daring me to keep can-caning as the world falls apart. Veblen good indeed.

Promise is one of the most elegant “suit fragrances” I have ever worn. Everything about it feels refined, confident, and incredibly attractive without becoming loud or flashy. It has that perfectly dressed, well-groomed energy that instantly gives the impression of sophistication. What makes Promise so special to me is how smooth and luxurious the composition feels from start to finish. The blend of rose, spices, patchouli, and warm amber creates a scent profile that is both rich and approachable. It smells mature and charismatic, yet still modern and easy to appreciate. Despite having a niche character, I think Promise has a surprisingly high level of mass appeal. It smells expensive, clean, confident, and inviting all at the same time. It is one of those fragrances that easily gets compliments because people around you immediately associate it with elegance and presence. Performance is also excellent on my skin. It projects with confidence without becoming overwhelming, and the dry down stays beautifully smooth for hours. To me, Promise represents modern masculine elegance at its best. Sophisticated, attractive, luxurious, and effortlessly stylish.

According to my wife, this "smells like a souk"— and I’d add: drinking apple cider in a souk! Now, when you part with a significant chunk of cash, you expect the full experience. Promise delivers it all: it's distinctive, smells luxurious, and performs like with a bold projection. Wear this, and people will notice you. Overspray, and you will be projecting for 5-6 hours! That apple note combined with rosemary results in that "apple cider" vibe. The “souk” part probably comes from the spicy mix—think pepper, clove, saffron, and roses. Having sniffed my way through most of Frederic Malle’s lineup, I’d say Promise is one of the safest introductions to the brand. It’s niche, yes, but without veering into those funky, animalic territories. Oddly enough, it bears a strong resemblance to The Moon, but Promise is way more approachable for the uninitiated (and considerably cheaper). While I don’t usually play the gender game with fragrances, in this case, I’ll make an exception. Guys who shy away from florals, don’t worry, you’re safe. The roses here, especially in the dry down, are blended in a way that feels decidedly masculine. As for when to wear it, anytime you want to be noticed. It’s strong and complex, more suited for special occasions or evening wear. If you’re a more mature gentleman, this could even be your "secret weapon" on a date night.

Absolutely sample before trying! The cypriol is a very unique note, and it's kind of medicinal and overpowering at times with this perfume. I purchased a sample pack from the FM boutique in NYC, and this one stood out. In the beginning, it opens with a crisp apple and the medicinal cypriol, which lingers throughout the entire experience. It is almost reminiscent of standing in a damp forest, very difficult to describe if you've never smelt it before. Near the drydown, the apple is nonexistent, but the patchouli slowly makes its way in and melds with the cypriol to form an almost church-like incense vibe; maybe the labdanum is also making this effect as well because it is slightly leathery and damp. I love love love incense-based perfumes, so this one gravitates towards me heavily. If I were to find a comparison to this, I would recommend Niche Emarati Khalid by Lattafa, which is supposed to be a clone of Falcon Leather by Matiere Premiere. To my nose, Promise instantly reminded me of that, however, because I am picking up a similar and powerful cypriol, which in Emarati Khalid's case, combines with a powerful and creamy leather. Anyway, Promise is a very beautiful and dense perfume that is quite calming to my mind. Would absolutely recommend this to people who also love incense-based perfumes or perfumes that are dark and mysterious.

Promise is not an idea of a more or less beautiful rose: it is a temple. The moment you spray, you find yourself inside a nave of green jade and crimson drapes as dark as wet blood. At the center, the rose as mistress of the house, opulent, juicy, wrapped in a sugary, tea-like accord of apple. This is not sweet for the parlor: it is sharp, vibrant sweetness, almost a dramatic apple that foreshadows a more passionate love than it seems. The structure is classic Ropion: Turkish and Bulgarian roses in the foreground, green spicy apple (pink pepper, clove) that gives edge, and a base that works through an illusion of oud. There is no real oud, but its soul is here, reinterpreted through smoky cypriol, patchouli, castoreum, and labdanum. It is an earthy, ambery, almost medicinal smokiness that soils the rose and makes it intriguing, dangerous. My feeling is that Promise is the scent of a blood-red queen of the East, who does not ask, but commands. It is the promise of keeping one’s word, the sensation of something still suspended, not fully withdrawn. A promise not forgotten, but charged with tension. It is a fragrance for war, crimson red mixed with the wet red of blood. Juicy apple, indolic rose, resurrected oud. If you need a floral that does not ask permission but declares, this is your temple.

Welcome, night. You have gently settled upon the world, and now, it will never be the same. The sun has baked the rocks, and the wind has smoothed their surfaces. The sand has fed on its heat and now that you’ve arrived, night, it gives that warmth back to the world. In a hollow of Wadi Rum, protected from the night’s cold breeze, romantic lanterns dye the air with a velvety, vibrant red. A sumptuous bed of roses, passionate and decadent, cut at the peak of their magnificence, lies helpless, eyes turned to the stars. Beneath them, a bukhoor made of exotic woods and ancestral resins slowly begins to breathe... to live. The skilled hand of a berber pours over this union a fruit syrup dense, dark, and spiced, which slowly descends toward its destiny. The moment it touches the scorching surface of the adorned bukhoor, smothered in roses, it caramelizes, thus completing the potion. The scent reaches the nostrils, the brain’s synapses decode it, and emotions shape its morphology. Decadent opulence, baroque magnificence, carnal exoticism, infinite abyss. A dialogue between light and darkness.

Dominique Ropion creation Frederic Malle Promise is WOW super elegant an absolute masterpiece. Opening with a spicy and almost boozy apple, having a rose-"oud" where the oud is replaced by a combination of cypriol and patchouli, pink pepper brightens the composition and adds sparkle fell, while the clove and labdanum add a bit of dark sweetness, Ambroxan makes this fragrance last a ridiculous amount of time on skin with good scent bubble. The performance of Promise is nothing short of exceptional. It lasts 5-6 hours as a solid scent on my skin, and a few hours more as an intimate woody dry down. The sillage is very long, lasting for many hours. If you spray on cloths, it lasts more than a day. MOON and Promise are the best among the Desart collection, also they are non-offensive frag compared to other desert collection list as they have more oud blend. Scent: 10/10 Silage: 8.5/10 [ 4+ Feet radius for initial 1+ hour] Longevity: 7.5/10 [ 2-3+ Hrs afterwards it becomes skin sent which last 6+ hrs] Bottle: 7.5/10 Price: 7/10

It's like if someone sprayed Portrait of a Lady into a cigar lounge, spilled apple cider on the floor and cleaned it up with a leather jacket. Absolutely gorgeous, so dark and mysterious, so alluring. I don't find the apple accord to be as strong as people make it out to be. People make it seem like it's the only thing you can smell. The things that I smell most are Patchouli, cypriol, leather and rose. Rose is a pretty prominent note in this to me, seeing a lot of people say it's barely there but I smell it quite strongly. The rose kind of blurs and softens all the sharpness from the other notes and makes this smell very smooth and blurry. The opening is actually really funky too, quite dirty and animalic, you are also met with the apple accord strongest in the first 15 minutes. This stuff is definitely massive, one or two sprays and you are good to go for the whole day with a strong sillage. Scent: 9.5/10 Sillage: 10/10 Longevity: 10/10 Overall 9.75/10 I really love this stuff.

Revisiting this difficult fragrance after a couple of years. Last time I wore it, I got bin juice (I used to get smilar effects from Overture Man). This time, it's not bin juice, thankfully. First thought is, portrait of a lady made brutally masc-old school. Then, it reminds me of rose de russie, which is much less harsh, and is easier to wear. After that I start to smell massive woody amber in the base, which reminds me of Ropion's other, cheap as hell oud accord in Oud Malaki, which I can't stand. Promise is a good perfume, but it's basically unwearable for me, I don't want to subject anyone to it. Enormous headache potential here. I have 10mls, and I'm glad I have it, it'll last me a lifetime. Update: smelling a 2025 batch now, this has been totally ruined by reformulation. It smells bland and generic for the genre. Criminal.

This is my first niche fragrance. I’m mostly a fan of dupes—you could even call me a "dupe demon"—and I have an extensive collection of them at home. Yesterday, I decided it was time to treat myself to a high-quality fragrance instead of cheap knockoffs. I chose Frederic Malle’s Promise. After a long time spent debating whether to buy it (I’d already smelled it in stores and was on the fence)... I said "screw it" and bought it. It smells absolutely amazing; I’m wearing it right now, even in the summer. I’m not sure yet about its longevity—I wore it to the movies, and after two hours, it was barely noticeable in the air—but I’ll keep testing it out. It’s such a fun fragrance; it feels like I’m enveloped in pleasant spices—really excellent stuff. I think my next fragrance will be The Moon, from the same collection.

I think this is the best perfume I've ever smelled in my life. I owned a bottle of oud aquilaria by Oman luxury (very similar scent by same perfumer) and sold it because it didn't have the abrasive powerful character promise had. Bought a 50ml of promise this time last year-ish and sold it again because the warmer months influenced my opinions on this scent in a negative way. In that sense I've learned my lesson. For me if it's no longer dark by 5pm anymore it's time to put this fragrance away until next year. I have an association with this fragrance with the colder months and I felt an urge to smell this so I dug out a 1ml sample i still have (a testament to it's strength) and this time I feel an urge to purchase a 100ml. It's just that stunning. Nothing smells like this

my favourite among the desert gems collection and a true masterpiece. Rich, yet refreshing with the photorealistic green apple note that doesn't fade for the duration of the wear and rests firmly on the lush rose that you expect from a FM release. Cypriol (with the help of patchouli) firmly grounds the composition and gives it a stable foundation while amplifying the tart aspect of the apple. In my opinion this can be worn throughout the year, day and night and surprisingly works pretty well in the heat. Performance on this is next to none, it doesn't need more that a single spray. If you enjoy this unique DNA i also recommend Ramon Monegal's Alhambra oud as a more clean cut and mass appealing alternative, as Promise is undoubtedly quite divisive.

I bought this back in 2022 and I don’t think I ever wore it, and I've tried it on now, and it smells completely different on my skin to smelling it from the bottle. This smells divine from the bottle but upon application to the skin I get a very powerful Patchouli that borders on the smell of Brasso, or some sort of synthetic abrasive metal polish. Now don't get me wrong, it smells nice in that kinda way, in the same way someone likes the smells of Petrol or Gas, but I don’t like to smell of it. I asked my other half, and she is apparently smelling the Rose, Patchouli and most of the notes, so it's as if we both are smelling two completely different scent profiles. I will leave the review as it is now and update again at a later time.

Smelled it on test paper and fell in love then I bought it straight away without even testing on skin (already full of other perfumes)! Tried it the next day and it was gorgeous on skin as well. The perfume is really potent. I put a spray on each of my wrist and I could smell it for the whole day. 12+ hours for sure. I believe 1-2 sprays are more than enough for this perfume, especially if working in office. It's really interesting how perception towards scents could change over years. You may like something you don't before and vice versa. I remember smelling POAL before thinking it's just alright and way too mature for me but then now I fall in love with Promise! Maybe I'm more mature now. Probably will give POAL another go.

I have it in my collection for months. It is my honest review. It is not for me at all. Smell of roses in earth with something I can’t easily describe... something leathery with chemicals. I tried it in different occasions and seasons. Yes, it has big sillage and strong longevity. If you spray it on clothes it would be smell for week. But it is too much. Also it feels old dated. Something from previous chapter of history made in a modern way because of materials. Rose doesn’t have any fruit or floral accent the same story with apple. They exist without touch of freshness, fruitiness

To my nose, this fragrance is more female than male. The sour apple note is prominent, but that hint of rose and warm earthy note immediately cuts through the tartness which I find quite intriguing. This perfume has a roundness to it, as you get the experience of being exposed to nature, picking up scents of floral, fresh earth, grass and scent of small animals. It's such an intoxicating scent, and as it progresses you begin to understand the importance of that apple scent. It ties everything together in a dark forest with the promise of an apple. Dominique Ropion's idea was to recreate the intensity of oud and I think it's beautifuly done. You get all the facets of oud, the dry woody tone, the resinous facets, some slight animalic from the castoreum. All of this on a base of green earthy patchouli, beautiful raw rose. The heaviness is balanced with fresh crisp green apple. The fragrance is perfectly blended and balanced, it meshes into a beautiful composition, not a superposition of notes. Its very powerful and smells very "niche", you probably won't like it at first. It's a fragrance that you slowly fall in love with.

Just WOW ! Do test it on skin, the subtle animalic dry down tones do not show up on paper. It’s sort of like a modern-updated-fresher-juicier version of POAL but with less rose; ideal for men. The fresh, light, apple start makes it plausible for year round wear. Everything about this perfume is full bodied and well rounded, no sharp edges, like a vintage Porsche 911. I feel it can be worn year round and I recommend two sprays (or more) to really bring out the best in it. One of the best three fragrances I have come across. I love it.

Promise is a great woodsy, smoky perfume, it is beautifully blended, and has its own unique character. It is elegant in its subdued and understated nature. The best part is the nutty drydown, which is delicious. I don't think it tells an especially new story, but maybe that is also where its quiet beauty lies. It doesn't make you fall in love with it, it doesn't stand out, but that is probably the idea, to make a perfume which is excellent and very high quality but that never tries to upstage the person. Elegance without words.

Promise is a promise. Such a masterpiece fragrance i ever smelled. What a masterpiece ingredients. And well blended. This one smell no synthetic. All natural, real apple, real saffron, real rosemary, real rose, and real Patchouli. The SPL is insane!! I sprayed this perfume on my clothes, and after 3 days, the scent still lingered (even though I'd already washed them at the laundry ). It even smelled like I'd just sprayed it on 3 minutes ago, even though it's been 3 days. What a crazy fragrance!!! Trust me. No bullshit!!!

This perfume is exquisite and smells to me so luxurious and feminine but definitely dark feminine. The apple scent hits you right away then it fades to something more complex and smoky, I really love it. Also a small spray lasts all day, I forget it is so strong and then enter a place and everyone says they knew I was there cos they could immediately smell me! I find this scent complicated and definitely isn’t for everyone. But if you like unusual, heavy, sultry scents it is just so beautiful.

Starts off with apples, which can be quite surprisingly refreshing. The apple note seems to fade after 1-2 hours and the cypriol takes over strongly from there, where it becomes somewhat reminiscent of motor oil or asphalt. Very alpha scent. It’s indeed eternal with strong projection even with a very light spray. I would be careful with this in closed environments or warmer days, where it can get cloying or slightly irritating.

I blind bought a 5ml decant of this fragrance and fell in love with instantly. It's sophisticated, warm, sweet and makes me feel so luxurious. It's got a shadow of our even though it doesn't contain any, the dry down is very rosey. I don't wear this to the office, but often wear it as a nighttime scent or for the weekends, even for bedtime, as it's very cozy, warm and makes me feel comfortable.

I would strictly consider this a masculine scent, It is nothing I would enjoy my woman wearing. It starts with a dab of green apple and beaver then dries into what I would describe as a moment in time. It smells as if you grabbed a handfull of wet leaves in the fall at a monument and a homeless man is within feet of you slicing open a fresh green apple. Unique and strange.

This is one of the most beautiful, and heart stopping fragrances I've ever smelled in my life. Not very many things in this world can provoke certain feelings inside me, but smelling this masterpiece , and wearing it , does. I sprayed the inside of my wallet with thisover a month and a half ago when I went to sample it. The smell is still there , very strong too. 10/10.

The green apple and rosemary are very prominent. Overall this perfume gives a green, fresh, forrest vibe to me. The scent still radiates from my puffer 2 days after I sprayed it and it seems to still fill a small room, sillage and longevity are off the charts. Pana Dora Swedish Wood Extrait has similar notes but slightly on the warmer side which I prefer to this one.

I can say that this is one of the best cration from Dominique Ropion this one is perfectly unisex and verry well blended this was instant love for me ,definitely adding a backup bottle in my collection because someone told me that they are changing some formulations of some Fedric malle fragrance and if thats true i m on my collection journey for older bottle

I love this scent but not on me. I find it very masculine, elegant, sophisticated and surprisingly edgy. It is the type of fragrance that would stand out in a room full of people at a black tie event in an opulent venue when one catches it’s scent briefly but cannot forget that moment for the rest of the night. It is capable of leaving a lasting impression.

Incredibly addicting and intoxicating scent. Can definitely see how it is a divisive profile, though. One of my recent favourites. Fell in love with this upon first application in store, but still did the proper thing and examined how it performed on my skin throughout the day. Went back on the same day and bought a full bottle.

Rarely do i ever Feel a Fragrance, and i mean FEEL. a Fragrance. feeling like a different person for a whole day or two. Rarely do i ever smell Something so well blended that i cannot smell different notes, i just Feel a presence. Promise by Dominique Ropion gets me there. this is a fucking masterpiece.

Cut stems and astringent but photorealistic rose that is neither soft and powdery nor fresh and bright. Harsh, cold and totally devoid of any emotion. More like roses sitting on the cutting room floor of a florist than something you’d smell having buried your nose in a freshly received bouquet.

The more you spray, the bigger the effect. Roses also are a big note. But not over complicated. The right amount of floral, right amount of raw meat sitting on the counter top. I like it. No, i love it. The animalic note is like blood and raw meat. I laugh at myself for liking it so much.

This fragrance is amazing. Long lasting, powerful musky scent with a hint of that Rose and Pepper. I absolutely love this fragrance. Would buy it again and again regardless of it's price. However for new buyers I would be wary, it's not for everyone. Is not suitable for a blind buy.

Sophisticated, otherworldly, and mysterious. Ropion’s masterpiece. It’s hard for me to believe that such a wonderful creation exists. The saffron is the star here, providing an exact balance to the fruitiness. Exceptional quality ingredients and exceptional blending. 10/10.

Very very different on paper vs skin. On skin its much darker and smokier. On paper it is fruitier. I enjoy both, however it would probably remain a scent which is used for special occasions only and a certain mood. With that being said, I would still want a bottle of it.

wow. immediately drawn to it when sniffing the atomiser. i managed to spray the last few pitiful droplets of the tester bottle on the inside of my elbow, and the scent was still enormous. the oily, spicy rosemary opening is intoxicating. need to get a sample...

What a beautiful creation, it’s one those scents that reminds you why you came into this hobby to begin with. Complex high quality ingredients great performance keeps changing nothing is over done here, Oud, smoke, some rose, a little sweetness ah heaven

This is a STATEMENT MAKER SCENT! I lost my words to tell how much I love this! Starts with a boozy apple and spicy pink pepper. Later, musky rose appears, and the best part is the wonderful animalic amber. It's incredibly addictive!

Powerful and enigmatic on a woman. My signature evening scent when going out to social events. A good alternative choice to Musc de Ravageur, which is almost too sexy for public events because people (man and women) will eat you up.

WOW!! This hit different! This remind me the vibe i had the oily feel of Amouage Jubilation XXV back in the good old days, This doesnt smell like Jubi but the vibe similar and the oily quality to it OMG Full bottle worth it!

Strong tart apple at the start that slowly transitions into this woody base which I assume is cypriol. No rose for me. Very the more I use it the more I enjoy it. Was on the fence when spraying it in the store.

This isn’t a fragrance, this is ART. Worth the price? Yes. Perfect blend of the ingredients, Dominique ropion is a mastermind and this fragrance single handedly proves it. Unique, rich, very long lasting.

Best fragrance ever? Just a masterpiece of apple, wood, smoke...lasts and projects for hours on end. You really only need of well placed sprays to announce your magnificent presence. Well worth the price.
