Posh Affair

My final try of the current Frederico Parfums lineup, Posh Affair, a powdery, aldehydic, sharp floral blend with a lovely jasmine/orris center, flanked by resins (galbanum, labdanum), guaiac, and oakmoss. It’s somewhat fresh, opulent, and seems like it’s from an earlier era, a little feminine, but very well assembled, with just a bit of raw oakmoss, vetiver, and jasmine to keep it a bit wild, tempered by peach, albeit with a sort of funky quality to it that really makes it quite daring and unique. I find it quite powerful, overall, but I feel I would enjoy smelling it on someone else rather than me, and that it might suit someone else better, but it’s really a great sampling experience, as I reapplied it on my other wrist after letting it dry down for some hours on the first. The dry down is certainly a bit more easygoing, with the raw/funky aspect becoming more toned down over time. Posh Affair, like the rest of the house’s offerings, is parfum concentration, sold both via the house website and Perfumology. Its pricing is on the higher end, at $225 for 50ml (as is Silken Skin, vs. most of the house at $185), but the creativity, performance, and quality are very high. I’d certainly recommend sampling this via the discovery set. 7 out of 10

My final sample in the Frederico discovery experience. It is another that seemed to take me back to a vintage affair similar to PE. It could be the Aldehydes that always makes me feel like the fragrance has a gauzy quality. With the addition of the Orris it takes this fragrance to the 1920's dressing table of that darling actress who's sitting at her boudoir preparing to hit the speakeasy! As with other Frederico's this has nice sillage and great lasting power.
