An Equestrian Series Pierce

I bought a decant of this from Misty Mountain Decants on Etsy...they got a bunch of middle eastern brands they sell so I don't have to blind buy. They're some pretty cool people too sending gift samples I didn't ask for 3 times with the order. With this fragrance THE QUALITY IS THERE. I love Perseus and this smells exactly like it. This is smooth and the citrus is really good. Undeniable quality here. When the decant arrived it didn't smell great, I sprayed a few times to introduce some air and then tried again a week later. BEAUTIFUL. I would say the main differences (which are subtle at best) is this has brighter citrus and has a better vibe for slightly hotter weather. You get vetiver for sure. When Vetiver is in fragrances it has the potential to smell like body odor in high concentrations and you don't really get that here. Its smooth. The white floral come in brighter in this one as well. Fresh and clean. How close is this to Perseus....I'd say like 90% close...Perseus is slightly more wood and less bright. This is more bright and toned down just a touch on the woods and vetiver but only a touch. IF YOU WANT Perseus on a budget....just get this bros... I have no need for the other equestrian lines. I'm not looking for the Haltane clone they have or the Delina clone. I want to take a vacation overseas and wanted to have a decant of Perseus before leaving...its still better than getting a full bottle but this satisfies the need so perfectly well. Like I said I introduced air to my decant and then tried a week later it was perfect. But it had a little alcohol harshness when it first arrived. if you buy middle eastern fragrances you already know this is how the game is played. (Spray 8 times at least, introduce some air, wait a few weeks, and then try again, repeat). This didn't take that much only a week. Its well with the money and smells so clean with the choice of white forals that smells just like perseus. French avenue is not bad I just wish they sold samples but I guess they make more money off of blind buying. Overall 8.9/10 because they got the profile so incredibly close. Super bright and fresh and most of all SMOOTH.

Been testing French Avenue Pierce for the past couple days and here are my thoughts. It’s a clone of PDM Perseus and opens with an invigorating blast of rindy grapefruit, kind of like the sharp scent of an unripe fruit peel. As it dries, you start to get more of the actual grapefruit, tart, sweet, and citrusy, and that bright note carries through most of the fragrance. About five minutes in, the vetiver starts to peek through. This isn’t a grassy vetiver, it’s an earthy one, reminiscent of Terre d’Hermès. In the mid, you also get some subtle florals and a touch of elemi, but the grapefruit and vetiver are absolutely the stars of the show. Projection is a little better than moderate for the first two hours, then it sits closer to the skin. Longevity for me has been about 5 to 6 hours, but that’s before the fragrance has had time to mature, so I’m expecting it to improve. Quality and performance feel right on par with Perseus. I think this shines best in spring and summer, but you could definitely wear it year round without it feeling out of place. Overall, very well done, and I hope they decide to do a Percival clone in this same line with pierce

I originally purchased this one in July. I decided to revamp my collection with new warm weather scents over the summer. In Texas, summer is between March and some time in the last 3 or 4 days of the year, with brief interruptions of sub-fifty degree weather. That gives me a good reason to find the best citrusy and fresh options out there. So picking up Pierce, I expected it to be a new take on that style of fragrance. What I found initially was something that closely resembled another clone I have called Sceptre Malachite. It’s a representation of God of Fire. The rhubarb in that fragrance needed time to relax. Much like the vetiver in Pierce. I revisited Pierce today and I must say, it has improved greatly. The notes have all come together and found a new way to get along. The vetiver is very enjoyable and smooth now. If you enjoy GOF and scents like it, this one may appeal to you. I found it on Amazon. 8/10

Short review: Longevity: 7-8 hours Very nice fragrance. It is fresh with a bit of sweetness. Very unique scent profile. Doesn't really remind me of Terre D'Hermes Eau Givree or Eau Vetiver Intense a lot. Similarity to Perseus: basically identical to my nose, I feel like the clone drydown is stronger than OG. Quality of ingredients seems a bit worse in the clone at drydown, but it's very insignificant. Projection: Opening strong, projects 3 feet then gradually dies down to about 1,5 in 1-2 hours. After 6 hours it barely trails and after 7-8 its nearly dead being a skin scent. On clothes it can last for days, but sticks close to the fabric. Value: worth every penny Bear in mind it's not the easiest to like, having gathered opinions, some love it and even would consider buying, a minority doesn't find it enjoyable because they relate it to a raw, sour lemon up their face.

It is a fragrance that in my opinion has the dominant note of cashmeran with grapefruit next to it. If you have smelled Alhambra Monocline 05; you will understand what I mean by the cashmeran note. The cashmeran note is a note that most people may not know what it smells like. Nose Note #704 Oh yes!!! Art of Wood has nothing on this. This is straight summer scent. Art of Wood has this impenetrable layer of something that's anything but summer. Pierce is a lot like Terre d'Hermes Eau Givree which I love, but it doesn't have this wonderful metallic undertone and it doesn't feel as soapy. Otherwise - the quality feels just on the same level, not a bit worse. Wonderful super fresh very bitter and naturalistic grapefruit. Strong. Love it. 9.5/10, for Terre d'Hermes lovers

I've never smelled Perseus, but I can say it's not that similar to TDH Eau Givrée. Sure, they share the same concept — citrus and vetiver — but Pierce is sweeter and stronger, thanks to the Ambroxan and Cashmeran. To my nose, it smells more like a mix of Zara Vetiver Pamplemousse and Jo's Rhubarb on steroids. I prefer the scent of TDH Eau Givrée, but Pierce is more versatile. For now, it's going to be my work scent. It's fresh, easy to like, simple, and long-lasting — well worth its price.

This is like Aether with a hint of citrus. I have both of them, and when I first spray this, straight up Aether with added citrus on top. Inoffensive fragrance, suitable for office or afternoon use. The dry down is full of vetiver and neroli. It’s safe to say that this is in the same line with TDH (but without that graphite feeling) and similar to Perseus. Great scent, but not totally unique. The presentation is great on this one, the hard box feels like it made out of actual wood.

AMAZING! Thanks I love perseus but the price tag is just not worth it to rebuy. This is exactly what I wanted, because I like to use eau givree during the day at high heat and perseus on nights out. They nailed it thanks French Avenue! Hope you now make a Layton clone love the bottle.

A grapefruit explosion further enhanced by vetiver, with good projection and great longevity. The quality is definitely there and the smell extremely faithful to PDM Perseus. On top of that both the bottle and the box look nice and the price is on the low.

I love this bottle. The scent of grapefruit is so exact to a real grapefruit, very freshy, slightly fruity sweet. For the 1st week you might not fall for this scent due to its moderate performance. But from the 2nd week on, you surely love this scent.

Photo realistic grapefruit with a slightly powdery musky dry down. Its light airy and elegant. I dont know if its just my bottle but the atomiser sprays in the shape of the cap on mine. Really strange.

Very similar to Perseus, like REALLY similar. The performance is good. 10/10, french avenue is crazy, best clone branda right now.

This is a review without having smelled Perseus. Straight away, I'd like to mention a couple of things before I get into the scent profile: 1. This does NOT smell anything like Eau Givree. I'm trying to wrap my head around how anyone could conflate those two profiles. Eau Givree is dominated by juniper berry and lemon, and Szechuan pepper. Pierce is dominated by grapefruit, and other grapefruit-like aroma chemicals + bergamot. Their drydowns aren't even the same, as Eau Givree doesn't really get earthy and it isn't utilizing vetiver in the same way (it's very understated in Eau Givree, only traces). If I had to make a comparison, I'd say Pierce almost smells like Middle Eastern clones of Bvlgari Tygar that I've bought, or similar to Light Blue Forever clones. If compared to the TDH line, the closest resemblance I see, as a couple here have mentioned, is the Parfum version. 2. Smells NOTHING like Eau Intense Vetiver, I would question one's mental sanity if they told me those two smell similar. Jesus people. Pierce isn't anywhere near as orange or patchouli-forward as Eau Intense Vetiver, totally different scent profile and experience. What does it smell like: Very nice, natural smelling grapefruit, methyl pamplemousse, and bergamot top. Very light and understated vetiver comes out in a little while. Like Light Blue Forever, the grapefruit here can turn a little sour on the skin after some time. It smells really good but feels a little unsubstantial, a bit like a body spray. It doesn't feel finished, if that makes sense. It's one of those fragrances that you swear you can't smell, but an hour or two later you catch a brief whiff of it, and then it's gone again (so it's still there, just going anosmic). Aside from the vetiver and the musk, you can still get a little bit of the grapefruit aroma chemicals in the dry down. Out of all the clones I've smelled of grapefruit-forward fragrances, this one smells the least synthetic. You can tell they're trying to make a classic men's fragrance (ones that have some rose, lavender, oakmoss, and bergamot) into a more modern, less-earthy style). This is a fragrance I might spray immediately before I walk into a room because the opening is just that nice even if the projection bubble dies down rather quickly. Not unlike a thin body spray. It's so cheap though that it's worth just carrying around a decant or a bottle and respraying later. So in my opinion, the scent profile is worth buying a bottle and carrying it around for what others may see as longevity and performance problems.

The grapefruit–mandarin opening is the star moment for Pierce and the best part: very forward and truly realistic. This is where it beats Art of Wood, although it's generally less woody than Lattafa. It later fades into a vetiver-led powdery citrus with cashmeran. The opening had a texture; the heart is more like someone just printed 'vetiver' on the back of the packaging. These notes aren't as natural as the start and come across more artificially, of medium quality. Performance matches the vibe: average projection, short-ish longevity. A couple of hours of presence, and then it becomes a close-up skin scent. Because of the powderiness and a fairly sweet base, it can work in colder months too, but it's mainly a summer product. It's very safe. The bottle is just decent with a good sprayer. Overall, it isn't really Middle Eastern — if anything, it feels too calm and clean with a white-shirt aura. The only 'Arabic' element is the powdery sweetness with vanilla, and that's basically it. It's clearly made for the mainstream audience: typical mid French Avenue clone warfare. In my view, it's missing a bit of a funky vetiver edge. I keep coming back to the same comparison: it wears like Art of Wood with a mandarin twist that feels genuinely juicy, mixed with something from the Terre d'Hermès line. It's definitely cost-effective. If you want something similar to Perseus, choose whichever clone suits you more and call it a day — they're similar enough. Picked up a decant of PDM's Perseus and absolutely loved it but couldn't justify the price of adding it to my collection seeing as I already have Terre d'Hermes Parfum, Turathi Blue, Burlington 1819, and a few other grapefruit/vetiver combos (this has become my favourite fragrance profile lately) and Perseus was far to similar but yet I couldn't stop thinking of it and going back to the decant I had. I was very happy when I saw French Ave came out with Pierce for a much better price point than Perseus, it's a good 80% similar to the PDM fragrance and at $45 I don't mind a bit of redundancy with other fragrances I already own by adding this one now. Beautiful realistic grapefruit opening, not overly juicy or sugary sweet but fruity and tart more like the grapefruit rind with a bright vetiver (green and aromatic, not dirty or earth) that stays throughout the wearing. Great daily wear, office, summer fun fragrance. Only issue is longevity, it only lasts around 4 hours and you really need to overspray to get any performance out of it. 8/10, longevity is around 4-5 hours with a light-medium projection. Edit: After shelving this bottle for a few weeks and then revisiting, the grapefruit/citrus has opened up quite a bit, projection is better and it comes across much closer to Perseus than it did when I first wore it. Definitely pleased with the purchase now.

Very similar to Perseus in the air, this nails the bitter rindy grapefruit/citron of Perseus/TDHEG but features it at a higher volume and it also has different molecular stuff in the base. This ruins the smoothness and creaminess that the og develops as it blooms on the skin, and makes the woodiness a bit harsher and more peppery, which in turn keeps the loud citrus part quite bitter for the entirety of the 6+ hour wear that Pierce offers. Eau Givree is a different animal, as it has an effervescent minerality that is also not present in Perseus. Haven't tested Art Of Wood so I only have an opinion on these three, which I have tested multiple times in the past year. Having worn Terre D'Hermes Eau Tres Fraiche, all of them seem good but not great. Will this satisfy the Perseus itch? Undoubtedly. But it is not as smooth and also has a slight medicinal dirtiness up close (similar to the base of Aether Extrait). It nails the profile but is a bit more challenging to wear. Perseus is not the most mass appealing PDM release, so I think people that love it might stick to the og, and people that don't care that much for it will spend their 30€ on a clone of something else.

A spot-on dupe of PDM Perseus, which falls right between Tygar and Terre d’Hermès in scent profile. It opens with an amazing blend of fresh grapefruit rind, dry woods and earthy vetiver and stays fairly linear throughout the drydown. The citrus notes fade away after a couple of hours and you’ll be left with a woody, slightly musky and ambery base. Definitely a refreshing fragrance, it smells clean and elegant, so it’s perfect for the office and hot summer days. It’s not too strong straight out of the box, but it creates a solid scent bubble which easily lasts 6-7 hours on skin and even longer on clothes. Just like with PDM Perseus, smelling it in the air is much better than up close. Overall, Pierce is an impressive and easily wearable fragrance that punches well above its price point. Absolutely recommended for grapefruit and vetiver lovers.

This is my second review, and there's something I just don't like about the profile. I wouldn't argue against its quality, but on me, I know this sounds strange, but it smells like if you took ketchup but then let it dry on the plate. I swear i am not joking. The opening is quite something else--would argue niche quality. But I just can't hang with that mid and drydown. And I love eau intense vetiver, so that tells you it's not about me disliking vetiver. That's just me though, maybe you have a different skin chemistry. (I hope I didn't ruin it for everybody?) I'll come back in a few week to catchup (see what I did there) on reviews to see if anyone's said, "There was this dude that said it smelled like dried ketchup on a plate and now I can't unsmell it!" hah.

Got the fragrance two weeks ago, i haven't smelled the PDM Perseus to make a comparison between them, but I can say that you get a very good quality fragrance for the money you will be paying (I've paid around 60usd for it). To my nose, it opens with a citrus (impossible for me to identify) and a strong neroli. After a while it start shifting and you can perceive the vetiver and the wood touches. Where I'm located, it's very hot (around 35 Celsius) and I must say that I almost drown my self after two sprays on the neck. Anyways, it was a good buy, not sure if I would recommend a blind buy. Clone of Parfums de Marly Perseus. I really like rindy citrus, so especially nose to skin this is awesome for me. Ultimately what I get is a photorealistic grapefruit rind, a deliciously bitter citrus that adds on sage and geranium in the heart before softening in to a vetiver and salty cashmeran base. This was designed to be worn on a very hot day, so I might spend a bit more time outdoors just to feel it pop off my skin.

Excellent grapefruit and vetiver scent. Never tried PdM Perseus but this is very nice. Opens with a photorealistic fresh grapefruit onslaught...juicy and bitter and then moves to a smoky, earthy and woody vetiver, reminiscent of Terre d' Hermes and a warm, musky amberish vibe. Brilliant longevity, I was still getting strong wafts at the end of a full work day and it last ages on clothing. Great for spring and summer.

Grapefruit and Vetiver. That's pretty much it. And it slaps. A great summer time fragrance that lasts a solid 8 hours in the heat, with decent wafts of it afterwards with a strong wind. Versatile for pretty much any occasion and nice to have a long(ish) lasting, nice smelling frag from summer outside of the usual blues you'll find this time of year.

It smells similar to Perseus. I strongly get the grapefruit, vetiver, and geranium. This performs 7 hours on my skin with moderate projection. I like it enough to wear, but I don't think I would buy another bottle. It's very versatile and would be great for most occasions. The blend smells of good quality

This is a great scent and more then worth the prize, in actual fact this is one of those that can be sold with another zero next to the amount. If you pour this juice in the PDM bottle it will fool even the trained noses. This is good and longevity on my skin is great. This is a keeper. These scents will get more costly in the future. I know this will even be better after maceration. Cant wait. 9/10 sofar

This is in the same vein as Parfums de Marly - Perseus. Very nice for the warmer months. Quite a linear scent : very rindy,bitter grapefruit, with some woods in the back, but the grapefruit is the main player. Also, this lacks the complexity, woodiness of Perseus. Longevity not great, max 5h. Sample before buying as this is not a cheap clone.

Not as citrusy as the original, for some reason it just doesn't 'hit' the same. I would much rather go for Art of Wood from Lattafa, even though that one is much sweeter and it's not for the summer.

An Equestrian Series Pierce French Avenue is a woody, citrusy, aromatic fragrance for men. Despite its refreshing citrus notes of grapefruit and bergamot, the overall composition is characterized by a harsh, synthetic scent that isn't well-balanced. I disliked the fragrance because of its harsh, synthetic flavor and the lack of smooth transition between the notes, especially in the opening, where the grapefruit and citrus scents are harshly pronounced. It's incomparable to Parfums de Marly's Perseus. Perseus is softer, more powerful, and elegantly sophisticated and is completely free of any harsh synthetic notes, making it a superior choice by all standards. Rating: 4/10

If you like the original, don't get this. No class. Smells cheap. Chemical. Synthetic. 2D through and through - no heft, no depth. Yes, it smells similar! Just that opening accord that they captured. But synthetically, without airiness, without lift. Without grace. Might smell good in the air to others. But I don't like smelling this cheap chemicals stuff on me. So what's the point? If you like the original, try: - Hermes Terre Givree - Hermes Terre - Jean Claude Ellena's other creations I like the original but it's way overpriced. Not gonna buy. But this one is even worse.

Sure, you can smell all the other notes if you pay close attention. But honestly, my first impression and thereafter have been comparable to being suffocated with bitter grapefruit rinds. I imagine the trail this leaves is where the appeal is, because up close it's a little challenging.

I love it. I don’t like at all sweetness in summer/citrusy fragrances and this one is sharp and bitter but nothing sweet on it. Is acid and bitter on the opening and it starts to becomes to a very clean fragrance on the drydown where I detect a ton of ISO E Super. I think this molecule fits perfectly with this kind of clean scent because the light touch of wood that gives the ISO E Super. I bought 30 ml but I’m decided to buy a whole bottle. About how close is to Perseus? I don’t test Perseus since more than a year or so but they are both identical in my memories but you know how false can be a memorie. Anyway I’ll try it again just to compare them properly.

If you like the original, get this. I have revisited the original over 10 times trying to decide whether to buy, but this scratches the itch without the hefty prize tag. I am very familiar with the original scent profile and I can confirm that this is extremely close. I’d say the citrus is a little bit dialled up and the vetiver is dialled down however this doesn’t mean it is non-existent. The fragrance itself is fantastic. It is not an overly sweet and cloying fragrance, it feels quite fresh and dry like freshly squeezed citrus juice. For under £30.00, you can’t go wrong with this.

This smells like moldy, slightly smoky and powdery citrus (grapefruity). I imagine this may be appropriate or even liked in the middle east. Potheads may also find this bearable. For a western world, most people will not care for this. Trust. Imagine a freshie that is trying to suffocate you. Gloomy citrus.

This stuff is fire. Perfect bright summer grapefruit fragrance. Last long. Was getting whiffs for a couple hours. The dry down is also awesome. Great summer signature. It’s simple but works great. One of my best blind buys. Highly recommend. Love it.

This is vetiver bomb to me very very similar almost identical to John Varvatos XX (silver bottle) or Grey Vetiver. Like it 👍

Smells good, but you need to give it time to show its true potential. Leave it for 2 months and you will see.
