Francique 63.55

First, I have to disclose that this review is based on initial spray and 3 days on the shelf. I will update as time passes and the fragrance has time to mature. A few months back, I purchased Liam Grey as a blind buy and I fell in love at first sniff. It has quickly become my favorite fragrance. So much so that I intended to purchase more bottles for backup. Then, I thought maybe I should try other offerings that attempt to mimic the Gris Charnel DNA. So, I purchased this... Francique 63.55. I have also acquired Aroma Concepts Ministry of Oud's Oud Beyond The Wall. I really don't know what I was expecting... but, I surely wasn't expecting a better experience than the one I had with LG. Francique 63.55 is the most exquisite fragrance I have ever put my nose on. In a comparison, because I feel it is the best way to get my point across, Liam Grey takes a much more spicy route. That's not to say that LG is too spicy. But, it has a much more pronounced, almost peppery note, Tea and Cardamom forward. That does die down with time and certainly mellows out with support from the Iris, Vanilla and Sandalwood. But, it does maintain that spiciness throughout its duration. Francique takes a much more mellow approach, leaning more Vanilla, Iris and Sandalwood forward with the Tea and spices in the background. Creamier and more velvety, if that makes sense. The scent cloud is glorious. Performance... I will not speak in terms of comparison as it is not a fair fight a this point. Liam Grey is a great performer. Only time will tell for the Francique. Be on the lookout for Oud Beyond the Wall. Its a peculiar fragrance. The addition of apple is interesting. The first hour it struggles as a clone of GC. But, one hour in, it is a beautiful take as Francique with juicy apple in the background. Another frag to look into if you like the GC DNA is Lattafa Velvet Musk. I bought it for a musk addition to my collection. I was taken aback by the fact that it is Liam Grey with a much stronger white musk and coumarin note in the background. Performance is stellar and beyond even LG. Update to come.

Just got it in mail. A lady was selling it for cheap, full bottle. First of all the packaging is really stunning, it looks sturdy and expensive. This is amazing. During the first 5min I smell black tea, fig, cardamom and a bit of iris on the back. Its not sweet but I feel the sweetness of the fig coming through. The black tea is kinda metalic and cardamom ads some warmth. It also kinda smelled like tobbacco? Its kinda manly, which I love. After like 30ish min to 1h it becomes softer and more tea-like, and more feminine. I can still smell it on my skin after a few hours, its very close to skin, but retains the same a bit bitter tea note. Its smooth and not sweet at all, no cheap sweet drydown, amazing! Ive tried Gris Charnel Intense in the shop few months ago and it smelled so divine. Just referring to my memory the Intense was more creamy and fuller, but this one is very similar and the same type of fragrance and vibe. I wasnt really sure if its suitable for summer when I first sprayed it, but as it settles quite fast it can be worn maybe during summer nights. Its not really a perfume for heat in my opinion. Im curious how it will feel during colder weather. Ill try it again on some rainy colder day and Ill update here.

Fruity aromatic tea. Elegant, put together, while remaining laid-back. I'm personally not a big fan of sweeter scents, think Invictus or Born In Roma and this strikes the perfect balance for me. It smells fruity, you get fig and I surprisingly also detect a hint of cherry which isn't listed here. All this is beautifully balanced by the woodiness and spice you get from the cardamom and woods in the base. I'd say the tea note is more of a supporting actor, along with the vanilla it smooths out what would be more of a contrast between the fruity and heavier notes. Lastly the patchouli and iris add these subtle aromatic floral notes that finish off this blend beautifully. Wearable all year round. For me, this fills a similar niche as Dior Homme 2020, they smell different of course, though both are sweet, woodsy but not overbearingly so, due to the inherent freshness/lightness present, in the case of the Dior that's mostly due to citrus, with Francique, it's the green and aromatic notes. Unisex, maybe leans a slight bit fem. For the price it's a great pickup imo

I bought this on a whim because I love Gris Charnel and wanted to try something similar for less expensive.. well let me tell you it's a love for me. It's 85-90% the same, and you might not know the difference unless you have them side by side, but it's a tad more sweet and airy and dare I say even a little more feminine? (Of course anyone can wear it like any fragrance it's still leaning unisex) Gris Charnel is a little woodier and thicker and fully unisex, someone else said Gris Charnel is creamier and I don't think so, but it's denser. They're both pretty creamy. I am so happy with this one I don't think I need a bottle of Gris Charnel as this one gives me what I love about the OG and also I love the bit of added sweetness and feminity. Liam grey went the opposite direction and made it more masculine like the extrait, but this went the other way and made it a bit softer. I also love the bottle for its simplicity and solid quality feel. And also the fact that it can double as a weapon if anyone sneaks in and tries to steal my perfume collection.

Side by side review with BDK Gris EDP. BDK opens with a peppery scent even though it's not listed in the notes. I do like black pepper scent so I do prefer this opening more than the Francique's. Francique when I sprayed on paper, it was pretty shocking to me how close it is to the OG. However, on skin, the middle notes tend to grow a bit "citrus" to my nose (which I don't like that much). But, the base notes actually nailed it, so close to the OG. In my country, 1 bottle of BDK can buy around 6-7 Francique bottles, so this is a really great value. I haven't got the chance to compare these 2 with Liam by Lattafa, but I do enjoy the performance of Francique so I guess I will buy the full-size. Edit: Already bought the full-size. Maybe previously because I was spraying from a decant so I couldn't smell much of the peppery of the Francique; However, now it's there. Can't complain. I love it so much.

This stuff is delightful. I like fig a lot so I thought I'd give this a try and it has a super clean quality to it, like a really high end soap with coconut oil, fig and maybe some oat milk in there. That drydown develops into a vanillic cedar and it's just the shit man. Reminds me a lot of Garnier Ultimate Blends oat shampoo. I did consider Liam Grey first but I just thought the atomizer was nicer on the Francique after watching some reviews. Francique is a very safe choice for a guy if you want to give off a clean well-kept aura and it's not super sweet either, more powdery and naturally sweet if that makes sense? I can't say much about longevity as I need to spend more time with it but the first impressions are strong; nice box, quality bottle, decent cap and it has a nice pressurised atomizer - as seen on most French Avenue/Fragrance World perfumes.

I am a Gris Charnel enthusiast, and Francique 63.55 is super close. I agree with the other reviewer that it leans a bit more feminine but is still very unisex. I am currently wearing Francique 63.55 on one arm and Gris Charnel on the other. The Gris Charnel has a bit more of a spicy bite from the vetiver, and I think the cardamom stands out more. Francique 63.55 is not as sharp, has a bit more vanilla, and is a tiny bit sweeter. If I didn't know what the notes were in Francique, I don't think I'd be able to pick them out individually, whereas Gris Charnel's notes are a bit more obvious. I actually like this about Francique because it makes it feel better blended and mysterious. Highly recommend.

This stuff is incredibly smooth and we'll rounded. I've personally never tried the original Gris Charnel, but I have sampled the Extrait version and I think this is very close to that one. I'd imagine that the original is going to have a much more pronounced vetiver note than this or the Extrait, and to me this one just smooths out the added depth of the Extrait making it just as well rounded, but slightly less powerful and possibly just a tad less masculine in scent profile, as they are both pretty unisex to me. I've been very impressed with Fragrance World's French Avenue line and I hope that they continue to improve their quality while keeping their prices competitive.

Je l'ai reçu ce matin et vraiment je l'adore, comment dire, c'est un parfum intimiste, pas de ceux qui se projettent, non! Je ne connais pas gris charnel, donc je ne parlerais que de francique. Je n'arrive pas à arrêter de sentir mes poignets, il y a comme un légère odeur de papier d'Arménie, et j'adore ça.On pourrai penser qu 'il s'agit de l'odeur corporelle d'une personne, mais une odeur attractive, je ne sais trop comment le décrire, il n'est ni fleuri,ni fruité,ni sucré ,ni salé, ni rien d'autre, c'est comme un parfum de peau naturel, il agit en alchimie avec votre peau et vous fait sentir bon!

Nose Note #506 It wasn't what I expected, but it's very good as it is. I thought it was going to be a light scent, the fig, the tea, but it's medium to heavy. It's long lasting. And the quality is outstanding. I don't think anyone would think this costs what it costs. This is niche quality level. Great, just great, but my initial impression was better then it is now. I got used to it and I must say the scent is very memorable. And I realised it's just too niche for me. It has something itchy for me, reminding me of pickled cucumbers, something about them pickled cucumbers. 8.5/10, what a scent

My preferred Gris Charnel alternative. Mostly similar to the EdP with a touch of the Extrait. Francique highlights the black tea and spicy-woody notes. The fig note feels similar to the OG. Overall, it feels cozy and comforting to me. It feels like Francique feels well balanced, and provides comfort very cozy and inviting. I used to have Liam Grey but that one was too synthetic and vanilla-heavy for me. I've had Francique for about 9 months now. Although it was great straight out of the box, and it's gotten a bit smoother and longer lasting with time. I get around 7-9 hours at this point.

BLIND BOUGHT IT AND I LOVE IT😍 I don't know how gris charnel smells, I was just intrigued by the notes. I definitely needed something with tea in my little collection. It leans unisex, it has that drop of masculinity in it, but that's not a problem for me because I really like it. Will update the review with info about longevity and sillage in a few weeks. 03/16 - moderate longevity and sillage

I'm commenting straight after spraying it for the first time. On me it smells like masala chai in a good way. It is like tea with spices, in this woody, dry way. The only sweetness for now seems to be coming from cardamom and light vanilla presence. It is very unique and I think it is a pretty safe blind buy, considering the price

Guys don't be shy about getting this, irrespective whether it leans feminine. you can pull this off easily, and it's a really nice fragrance.

Warm and inviting, with a spicy, woody heart and a soft, powdery finish. It’s incredibly comforting, like wrapping yourself in a cozy blanket

Almost one to one with Lattafa liam grey but less sweet and slightly better in quality. I like this DNA for evening wear. Very sophisticated

Much better than Liam Grey, but doesn't get the same hype as the Lattafa. To me, this is fantastic stuff.

This is indeed the superior fragrance compared to Liam Grey. It's basically the same thing just blended better. I wish my bottle hadn't arrived smashed. Fuck Evri. Edit: I bought Liam Grey at the same time as Francique 63.55 and at first, the 5ml or so that I decanted out from what was left in my bottle of Francique was hands down, way nicer than what Liam Grey was spraying. It's been six months now though and idk how Francique 63.55 would have matured over this time, or if it would've kept up with it's superiority over Liam Grey, but as it stands Liam Grey has really grown on me and is now in my regular rotation as it's nicer than either smelled originally.

Just received mine this morning and on first spray it's lovely...but it's VERY sandalwood forward at the moment... I will let it rest a while and see if it evens out🤞🏼I'm hoping the fig and tea become more present..I have high hopes for this one! Oh and the bottle is beautiful, simple and elegant 😍 Update 01/06/26 I've had this for nearly 9 months and at first I loved it from the bottle but on my skin it was just a bit too much! ...but now... It's softened, it's mellowed, it's creamy and gorgeous.. To me it's a rainy day or Autumn / Winter scent..calming and uplifting. Soooo glad I waited! 😍

Only tested decant so far. A lot of tea notes compare to Gris charnel EDP. Opening is almost straight into Gris charnel mid note. It doesn't have have that fig opening that wow you like Gris charnel. But it really close to Gris charnel DNA at least. When you smell this in the air definitely really close to gris charnel. It much more airy though not as creamy/powdery like gris charnel so it is slightly less cozy but also less cloying in the summer in that sense.

Dry, slightly sweet green fragrance. Unisex, maybe slightly more masculine due to the dry woods and prominent cardamom, although the tea note is dominant from opening to drydown. My go to for an evening outdoors, hanging out in a park, meeting friends on a terrace, or an evening walk in the neighbourhood. Relaxing and natural vibes, with some depth and complexity. It's an absolute bargain, smells luxurious and niche. Smooth and enjoyable from the first spray.

Have had this for around 6 months with the top off; this is Gris Charnel with noticeably more brisk green tea and partially ripened fig. It's fresher, doesn't lean as creamily as its inspiration. Stays a bit above arms' length, lasts around 5-6 hrs on the skin. You can wear this all year round.

I have this and Liam, and these are both amazing fragrances but I personally like Liam better. I'd say the main difference is that the vanilla and tea are turned down in here, being more spicy (in a peppery way) and a bit of a stronger dried fig/fruit feeling.

This is similar to BDK Gris Charnel and Liam Grey but this is much more smoother, well rounded velvety version. I would say it’s more fem leaning than the other two. IG/Tiktok: @wilddew_vibes

Weirdly addictive. It reminds me of a fragrance sample in a magazine, the scent mixing with the smell of the pages, in a good way

The cardamom is lovely, but the black tea is disappointingly absent. The final dry down is nice, but unremarkable - smells similar enough to Musamam White Intense that this would add little variety to my collection. This is a unisex, everyday easy-wear fragrance, likely to be blind buy safe if not blind buy wow. Projection is high-moderate with moderate sillage. Longevity is good ~6h, could still smell it after a brisk walk in hot weather.

The sample I got of this is okay. This is a more unisex and sweeter version than Liam grey. The quality smells a bit better than the lattafa one, but does not last as long. I prefer the spicier, touch more masculine direction of Liam. While it projects decently, it lasts around 5 hours max. I haven't smelled GC in a while to be able to say which is closer.

The scent is essentially the same; the only difference is in quality. Liam, naturally, like most Lattafa and Maison Alhambra fragrances, has lower quality, but not by a large margin. With normal application, the difference may not be noticeable. However, if you spray heavily, Liam can become suffocating. With regular wear, you probably won’t notice. For this type of fragrance, heavy spraying might be necessary because it is light and doesn’t last long. Scent 95%–99% the same

Wow -- this is really, really beautiful. Usually I find that fragrances with cardamom in the top notes don't put the cardamom front and center enough and therefore it's usually always too weak for my liking as I'm a cardamom fiend. I'm happy to report that in this fragrance, this is not the case. It's a sweet, seducing and intimate cardamom black tea-fragrance and on my skin the vanilla is prominent as well. I finally found the daytime equivalent to my nighttime scent 'Star' by Mauboussin. This is one of the best scents from French Avenue -- and that's saying a lot, since it's one of the better value-for-money fragrance houses.

For me, it's really calm fragrance, leaning masculine. But it's weak, really week. You'll need like 20 spritzes to actually smell it on you. I get a lot of cardamom in the opening (if you don't like it, stay away), a bit of tea and fig and woodsy base. That's it. It kinda lacks personality. There is potential - but it doesn't quite reach it. If it would be a little bit stronger, with more fig, or even more prominent tea, it would be really great. Ends up generic, powdery and woodsy notes, leaning slightly masculine. I probably won't keep it because I'm a bit sad every time I use it because of what it could be and isn't.

I agree with the comments below saying it is slightly more feminine leaning. It’s a sweet-spicy fresh tea-like scent. It’s creamy (in a non-lactonic way) and I’m sure it’s because of the sandalwood. If anyone has made homemade chai, it smells kind of like the spiced water + sugar without the milk. Definitely has the DNA of Gris Charnel Extrait just less unisex but I prefer this one.

A honeyed, milky fragrance, nice for autumn, with excellent projection and impressive longevity. It leans more feminine to me, and it does smell way cheaper than Gris Charnel. At first I liked it more, but after some months, I ended up giving it to a friend.

I just got it, it’s too masculine for my taste. Reminded me of Gentleman by Givenchy (probably that’s the iris vibe)and all I got yet is fruity ice tea with iris bomb and a shot of cola. I’ll leave it a while for macerating.

Could someone tell me, does it improve with time? I m a bit disappointed, it's rather weak, and i can only smell the cardamom and the wood and the wood is dry..🫤🫤 i was so excited about this
