Marmara

The bottle design foreshadows which direction this fragrance goes; it is a clean, sharp freshness that quickly transitions into powdered & smooth elegance, it also has a mineral or metallic nuance that gets balanced by warmer, amber & musk base notes. Smells like being in an ancient bathhouse built out of beautiful ivory colored marble. And it evokes that feeling too. Clean, serene, and devoid of any contaminants, that could weigh down or muddle its ethereal, stoic, and transparent character. Marmara isn’t unisex but rather genderless; it is sterile and solemn, radiant and uncorrupted.

This is amazing. The powdery note and saffron is very noticeable in the opening and the bergamot is just in the background. As it settles, i smell more of that powdery note until the dry down where the musk comes along with it. I have not smelled the Amouage purpose 50 but the bois imperial i have a decant of, so i blind bought this with the scent of it in my mind and it did not disappoint. I’d say it’s safe in hot and cold weather but not safe for blindbuy if you do not have any idea of the two fragrances it is being compared to.

Very nice fragrance, but it definitely benefits from a long maceration. I left mine for 6–7 months, and the difference was remarkable. At first, it had a harsh metallic smell, but that has completely disappeared. It has now developed into a beautiful Amouage Putpose scent that I really enjoy. The performance is slightly above average, which is good enough for me. Overall, I'm very happy with it.

I tried Purpose 50 and Decision from Amouage and this one is closer to Decision....but lets put that aside. This does his own thing....and it does it pretty darn well. Such a lovely fragrance. Its like Amouage decided to do something mass appealing in the PP50 and Decision category. Also out of the box performance seems to be very good. Ill give it a 9. Such fun one and moreso DIFFERENT

I don't know what to make of this scent. I can't use it at work. It smells like a happy meal toy. It makes me laugh. It's such a fun scent. Hahahahaha. I think this is better than bois imperial and purpose 50 but if it's any consolation, it is far from both. I get the comparisons but if you have smelled all 3, to say that this is the combination of the other 2 is strange.

What a scent at this price point !!!! I have Purpose , Purpose 50 and Decision and I feel like this is in the same bracket smell wise but fresher and more wearable . It might become my signature scent . Smells expensive and I think I am addicted to it . I will get 2 or 3 back ups . It’s that good !!!! Love love love this one ! It was the best blind buy I ever made.

Really enjoying this fragrance so far. It is slightly spicy at the opening but then mellows out to a lightly sweet musky powder with a little creamy woods of the sandalwood. Will be wearing this a lot, good for any weather with above average sillage and performance.

WOW WOW WOW, this is a banger. One of the best smells I've ever tried. Masculine, soapy mass appealing fragrance.

I have Bois Imperial, add some sweetness and this is Marmara, absolutely fantastic!

Nose Note #988 I'll be comparing this and Purpose 50 side by side. Even though they are actually pretty similar, I'd say these are the differences. Marmara is sweeter, and the sweetness in Marmara is almost minty or some imaginary mineral lolipop-like (nowhere close to the sweetness of 1 Million or Ultramale, for example, yet sweet), whereas you can't really say Purpose 50 is sweet at all, many only a little. Marmara has a noticeable saffron note that firmly connects it to Ganymede DNA. Purpose 50 has no saffron, but instead it has these amazing spice or incense accord that makes it feel like an Amouage. So if you don't like saffron, that might be crucial. Purpose 50 also feels more complex, more interesting, richer, just more like a professional's work. Marmara indeed feels (not exactly smells) like Bois Imperial, i.e. feels like a cheaper, lighter, just a bit different version of Ganymede. Purpose 50 does not feel like Ganymede in the least. It does have a Quentin Bisch touch, but not Ganymede. To be fair though, in the air it does smell similar to Purpose 50, but if you know the scent well enough the differences are apparent. Cannot work as a substitute, maybe some people would say otherwise. Definately more masculine. Confidently strong, but not as strong as Purpose 50. Sillage is also very satisfying. 7.4/10, I just with it was closer to Purpose 50 and the depth and complexity were better. But at that price you can't complain

In terms of scent profile, it doesn’t really resemble Purpose 50 by Amouage. I catch a slight Ganymede and Bois Impérial vibe, but this one is much sweeter. Some reviews mentioned a "subtle sweetness," but to me, it’s sweet enough to be cloying in the spring. It might work for cool summer or spring evenings, but it's ideal for autumn and winter days. As for performance, even without maceration, both the longevity and sillage are quite good. It’s not a bad scent, but it’s definitely not a crowd-pleaser. It’s unique—I haven’t smelled anything like this before. That said, it didn't quite live up to my expectations; after watching the YouTube and Instagram hype, I realized it’s a bit overrated. When I first sprayed it, I was like, "Oh my god, what is this?!" In fact, I felt that way for the first two days. But by the third or fourth day, it started to overwhelm me. I don’t regret buying it, though. If I put it away for a long time and come back to it later, I’ll probably get that same initial "wow" factor again. I think I just need to forget the scent for a while. As someone who absolutely adores Ganymede and Bois Impérial, my advice is to test it via a decant first. This is absolutely not a safe blind buy.

Well, it really is a blend of Bois Imperial with a hint of Purpose, with the quality approaching that of Bois Imperial - far from Amouage, meaning it's sharper. That being said, for $34 it's naive to think you will get something at Amouage level of quality, which more often than not may not be achieved by more expensive brands. Regarding the scent itself, it starts with a screamy punch of spices with roses beneath them. Then this initial punch becomes quieter and blurs into a gentle, soapy creaminess that still reminds you of the aggressive start, but it comes under control.

Definitely super interesting, i quite like it. It opens a bit like bug spray but give it a couple moments and then it becomes this powdery musky soft and masculine scent, might have to get a full bottle honestly.

It's a good scent. But what kind of bozos are voting this as similar to purpose 50. I get that scents are subjective, but these 2 carries completely different vibes.

A stronger, sharper rendition of the Bois Imperial / Ganymede DNA. Makes a bolder statement and has more room presence than its 2 inspirations, and this is exactly why this fragrance isn't for everyone, especially women. If you believe this to be unisex, you're kidding yourself pro max. Ganymede has a distinct **don't f with me or I'll f you ten times over** vibe, and this one shares some of that charm. If a woman puts this on before a date, I recommend checking inside her pants right away. Sadly longevity leaves much to be desired... which is expected, considering its price is 1/5th of the originals'. As with all middle eastern habibi fragrances, a little maceration will go a long way. This isn't a safe blind buy. Do try first.

definitely in the same scent family as Bois Impérial and Purpose 50. It has that strong Akigalawood/Bisch DNA, but to my nose it's much closer to Bois Impérial—less incense, more clean and soapy. Overall it's an ok woody, soapy fragrance. If you enjoy this scent profile, you'll probably like it. Personally i'm not the biggest fan of bois imperial, since i find this overly synthetic-ozonic akigalawood kinda annoying, like some sort of strong laundry detergent synthetic smell 4/10

The scent is alright. The problem is the projection and longevity, it’s gone in less than two hours. Even weaker than the basic cheap blue ones. Compared to Purpose 50 which is the opposite and probably the longest lasting in the game this is a joke. Bottle produced january 26 but anyway it should be stronger than this. Probably need to sit until january 28’.

This is an unusual powdery one - for me, the saffron and pepper strike too metallic to fully enjoy. However, I can understand how fans of Ganymede et al may enjoy it. Longevity is fair - decent for the price. Not one I’d buy, but I’m glad I tried it.

I have never smelled the og but even from the first smell, I can tell this one isn't for me. It comes to my nose as a floral take on megamare. It smells metallic/minerallic with florals. It definitely isn't blind buy safe. 6,5/10

smells soft and extremely powdery to my nose, but I do get whiffs of sandalwood for sure. perfectly unisex too, I wouldn't wear it honestly, but I would like to smell it on someone.........

I really wanted to love this. French Avenue usually delivers absolute bangers. Since Purpose 50 is my all-time favorite fragrance, I had high expectations, but Marmara is a massive disappointment. Let’s clear up the confusion: this has zero resemblance to Amouage Purpose, Purpose 50, or Bois Imperial (as some reviews here suggest). Instead of that refined, woody DNA, you get a screechy, plasticky, and extremely synthetic fruity concoction. It smells cheap. And it is, frankly, one of the few scents I’d call truly unwearable. Save your money and spend it on something else instead.

"You couldn't pay me to wear this! Yuck! Not blind buy safe at all! Exclamation marks! Do not buy! Repeat, do not buy!" ...is what I WOULD say if I were not in love with nose burning, piercing musks that other people seem to hate! Alas! Turns out I DONT love those things, and I don't love this fragrance either! If you like it, good for you! Nobody else does! Excuse me as I go back to drinking my petrol!

I you are buying it thinking that it is a 1:1 clone of Purpose 50 you will be disappointed this being said this is really good. In the air it will be reminiscing of the Purpose profil with a lighter incense/akigalawood combo however it is not as spicy as Purpose as you will have more of a citrus/saffron opening with a sweeter citrus. All the other spices are tones down or none existent hence you will not have the massive and kind of animalic opening Purpose 50 has. Marmara is more linear and a less complex scent that will settle to a non sweet akigala (almost vetivery) dry down close to what Bois Impérial has. Overall this is a lighter and easier scent to wear that will give you something between Purpose and Bois Impérial. At first you could have told me that this is a cologne version of Purpose, however once you have Marmara on one hand and Purpose (the original or 50) on the other hand you can not be tricked. I have scored this one for 40€ and for this price this is a really good entry point for this profil. Ps: The bottle is really beautiful however in hands it can appear cheap, somebody said it's almost as if the soft plastic surrounding the glass has been 3D printed, it does not feel premium but at least it won't break.

With an exception of the powdery notes and bergamot... I LOVE Black pepper, Saffron Mush and Sandalwood in my scents... Ambroxan, I have a crush on! When I first smelled this... I was infatuated! It is ethereal. I had to buy it! Got it this Saturday... as the salesgirl was watching me like a hawk to buy... LOL! I gave her a sale... plus I said if I was going to shop today... I'd go to a particular perfume shop... I kinda wish I'd have gone to their other location but... oh well! I love this scent and wore it today at work! Very apropos! My scent indicates I mean business...

I own Purpose 50 and in comparison with Marmara, the latter is slightly sweeter. But in the air, it’s the literal same fragrance. Marmara to my nose, is a winter perfect spicy floral that smells of great quality; I haven’t sneezed, or had an allergic reaction to the smell which is leaps ahead of my recent experience with some new affordable releases. Marmara is definitely unisex. I am a ln ultra feminine woman and have worn it for 2 days in a row, while getting compliments. Lest I forget, Marmara lasts on my clothes for over a day (mind you, I overspray).

I completely disagree with ChiliOfTheVally, I think his review is biased. Maybe he doesn’t want people to smell like him since P50 is his signature scent, just saying. This definitely has resemblance of Purpose 50/ Bois imperial, not saying it’s a 1:1, but saying it had 0 resemblance is purely a lie. I agree that purpose 50 is more refined but that’s because I love the amouge DNA. Marwara tones the amouage DNA way down and adds freshness and metallic vibe that you get in BI or Ganymede!

Its metallic and powdery clean with some chemical sweetness. Its very abstract, it doesn't bring anything to my mind: no place, no nostalgia, no memories or feelings and emotions.. it doesn't lean heavyly on anything, you can't pinpoint any real smell, its all chemical to my nose. Maybe you could say it smells like how PEZ candy tastes like. Personally i believe this is just a safe office perfume and for any other occasion you want to just smell clean..

However, the scent has nothing to do with the listed notes. It smells like concentrated herbal notes with a touch of citrus. There’s no powderiness or any of the other advertised notes.

This smells like a more musky, sweeter and fresher bois imperial/Ganymede. It smells very expensive, bottle however is a bit cringe. Not as metallic as Bois Imperial which makes it much more wearable. Edit - compliment magnet. Men love this on me too. Projection is crazy. Please note this is nothing like purpose 50 not sure why people keep mentioning that scent profile - it’s completely different

Definitely Ganymede mixed with Bois imperial , nothing to do with purpose The perfume smells so good but take care Ganymede is a borderline perfume it has salty mineral rust like note which is gorgeous and so elegant but can make your stomach upset It's better suited for night in the summer and not for daily use

First spray reminded me of the mosquito spray, absolutely unwearable to me. It's a failed Bois Imperial clone, that's all. I'll let it macerate, but I don't think it will change THAT much tbh. A 2/10 from me, and I'm a fan of Bois

This is a well blended fragrance, honestly perfect for everyday or special occasions. I personally smell Bois Imperial a lot more than purpose 50 even though others have said otherwise. Still an amazing hybrid I'd give it an 9/10.

Ok I love both ganymede and bois imperial. This here is slightly similar to both. It is a touch sweeter in a VERY good way. This here is a GREAT if you like those two. They took that dna and made it far more mass appealing.

Smelt this from the atomiser of a tester and I got mostly saffron/rugged leather.
