Meringue

All the others I've tried from this range (all, including the men's, except the green one so far) have been good to go fresh out of the box, so I sprayed this hoping it was no exception. Right now, all I can smell is bitter suede and sour birch wood. I wouldn't wear this perfume as it is. Will update my review if/when time in the perfume cupboard changes Meringue. Here's hoping. Edit: Lmao, I forgot I was planning to 'macerate' this as the green one just arrived, so I pulled it out along with the pink one to admire the set all together and play with them a bit, doing side by side comparisons and whatnot. It's literally almost exactly 24 hours after yesterday's review and Meringue is already smelling SO much better. On blotter paper: It's still bitter and very suede and birch forward, but the vanilla and the sandalwood are now present and it's become creamy and just altogether a much more balanced scent. The lack of sweetness here is really sexy too. On skin: I didn't want to shower again today, so just sprayed over the few pumps of Stash (SJP) I put on this morning, and wow. I smell incredible right now. If you own Stash, you should try this. Unisex. Intimate sillage. Will update longevity.

This is really beautiful fragrance. True unisex that is good example of being perfectly in the middle. It is very leather-y fragrance that has some warmth and cosiness.It reminds me of a smell of car that has leather sits, and it standing all day in hot weather, and you have that sweet vanilla car freshener, and you open a door, and sit inside and get concoction of smells. Warm leather, slight sweetness, creamy smell that could be overwhelming. Old leather jackets use to smell that way,you could nearly detect sweet smell coming from leather garment itself. That type of leather smell I call true leather smell, that modern crafts like jackets,shoes and bags don't have it anymore, because of tons of coatings. Actually that kind of leather you can smell also in Guerlain La Petite Robe Noire Black Perfecto(but this one has also strong cherry note) If you like Black Perfecto because of that leather note you will also like French Avenue Meringue.

I love this fragrance. It needed months of maceration to get to where it needed to be, but now it smells like fruity suede. We’re talking a powdery, dusty suede (the same powder as you’d experience with Luna Rossa Black), with a sharp lime kick in the opening. I don’t get pineapple at all.

Beautiful, expensive smelling niche quality unisex soft leather perfume! Creamy. Cozy. Addictive. Love it. I don’t smell pineapple though, maybe it will resurface after time-out

It's incredibly close to Creme de Cuir by BDK - i would say at least 95%. Smells expensive and sophisticated. Pleasantly surprised!

Have no experience with that fragrance, I am judging Meringue on its own merits. This is a highly unusual but very intriguing hybrid fragrance. It's a citrus and leather DNA mix with very strong fougere liek notes as well. This blends citrus, vanilla, wood, musk, herbal and leather aromas very well, as the citrus and herbal notes soften the leather notes into more of a fresh suede smell. This is a lot milder than most original and clone leather fragrances on the market and that makes it much more wearable. It's good for all occasions and ages and is completely unisex, which makes its marketing towards women only very puzzling. The name could actually mislead women into thinking this is a gourmand fragrance when it's anything but. While quite softened, leather is still a polarizing note to some noses so buyers should be aware of what this fragrance actually offers. Presentation is beautiful which is typical of French Avenue and quality is high. Performance is average which is likely due to the more natural citrus components. Be prepared to overspray and respray occasionally. Otherwise, a very different and very good fragrance. Recommended.

This is a unique fragrance. Its really creamy, seductive, misterious, sweet and intriguing fragrance. This does not smell exactly like merenges dessert. This is something else. Its unisex and shows a lot of personality. Its really unique and perfect for very cold weather. Dont think sandalo here will be the star. Its a nice mix of all the notes, spesially: swede, sandalo, vanille and birch.

Who would have thought a perfume called "Meringue" would turn out to be such a suede-forward fragrance? The slightly creamy, musky woodiness is also close behind. Maybe not for me but I enjoy it enough. I think this could be quite unisex. I haven't smelled Crème de Cuir, but that'd be a good name for this so I imagine the vibe is quite close.

I think "French Avenue" got the name spelling wrong... From Wikipedia: "Merengue (Spanish: [meˈɾeŋɡe]) is a style of Dominican music and dance." Given that this isn't a "Dessert" type fragrance...the other spelling would make much better sense. Review: Okay, this is a nice fruity light-leather fragrance on receipt/Arrival day!! I am DEFINITELY liking what this frag is presenting on opening the bottle! On paper...you get the opening of fruit and birch and it pretty much stays there until it disappears. Like a less sweet Aventus with Suede leather... On skin, however...you get a nice bright but creamy pineapple with a smokiness in the background when it's sprayed. There is a bit of a bite to the tone of the frag when it's first sprayed and you really get the burn of the birch in it. But it softens up pretty quickly and starts releasing the Suede, Musk and Sandalwood. This smells REALLY great!!! It doesn't seem to project a lot right now, but I just opened the bottle and tested it out. If it gets better from here it will be a "Love" instead of a "Like". Update: Wore this to take my son to get a haircut. 4 sprays to chest, one to each inner elbow. No compliments or anything, but I know I was noticed... Sillage is NICE with this frag! And it isn't overly sweet like a majority of fragrances these days!! At first...this reminded me of "Bond no9 - Bleecker Street" but with leather added. I kept getting nice puffs of the fragrance from under my shirt and had a nice scent cloud around me. It has a nice dry musky fruity tone with the soft smooth Suede holding everything together and the Birch giving it a smoky bite. Will give it a full wear tomorrow for the last day of the week!! Update: Still on the fence about this fragrance. It is a nice base layer, but I require something....more...with it. I've been wearing it, layering it with various vanilla fragrances on top and the bitter sour birch-leather seems to be the only thing this fragrance leaves behind on the skin. I'm hoping maceration has an effect on this bottle because that sour-tinged leather skin-scent after 7 hours is frankly vomitous. I'll check back in 3 months after this frag settles into it's chems... In the meantime, I've got "Suederal" aromachem on the way and a large 50ml decant of "Tom Ford - Vanille Fatale" on the way. I'll build a properly balanced spicy-vanilla-leather frag while I wear "Vanille Fatale"... Update: Yeaaaaaaaaahhh...I'm not certain this is the "Leather" for me. It just dries down SO DRY!! Like "middle of the sahara desert covered in salt and chemical dessicant" level dry... I'm going to archive this and keep searching... For now, my homemade leather fragrance and "Vanille Fatale" will have to do.

Nose Note #742 It's not bad, but to my this doesn't offer anything interesting or alluring. To me this is definitely a feminine scent, not sure how this can be unisex. Suede, vanilla, musk, some fruits very very far away. Just meh. It's not bad, just really unimpressive. Not pleasing, nor very pleasant. I'd just say it's a niche scent. Judging blindly I'd say this is something from Juliette Has a Gun. All their fragrances give me exactly the same vibe as this - just super meh. Almost OK for the summer. Imagine Dior Sauvage, but made for women. For some reason this comparison came to mind. Like a bad translation of something masculine into the feminine territory. 6/10, I think many people will like it. I'm just not impressed personally

The pineapple is done as dried fruit, so the sweetness is structural instead of being a decorative flourish. Without the notes in front of me I'd say this smells a bit like the young, sappy needles of a fir tree. I wouldn't recommend a blind buy, there is a balsamic quality that may smell like insect repellent for some people. For the right person, this is a great cool-evening fragrance that would be particularly nice in an intimate setting - spray lightly because this has legs and is likely to walk around the room. Projection and sillage are high-moderate, longevity is about 6h.

The leather is between new car and suede. I personally don't enjoy the citrus and pineapple in this, I find it a bit harsh. However, this is not an unpleasant scent. It's unisex. Good for fall, winter or cool evening. Long lasting, projects well and is priced about $35-$40. I'm reselling mine on fb.

Sparkly, almost fresh and juicy babycat/rifaqaat. Salty. It’s the same animalic, resinous, sueded vanilla as the foundation. However, I’d say this has a salt and pepper element to it. Idk how to feel. I think I’d like this better on a man.

This isnt exciting or interesting. Smells like pepper off the top honestly even though it isnt listed. I'd pass on this given a second chance.

I got a decant of this one because the notes on paper intrigued me. Fruity, leathery, a vanilla base and wood? Sign me up. However when I tried I smelled like a 25 year old well-kept car that just came out of a multi-story car park valet where they applied the most generic leather polish to the seats. That was the point in my life where I realised I never had and never will have the desire to smell like car leather polish.

This was way more masculine leaning than I expected, and much drier too. Despite being named after an airy dessert, this is not sweet or light. Meringue is very much a strong leather fragrance, with an unexpected petrol-like note. I really like leather fragrances and knew I wasn’t getting a fluffy gourmand scent, but this one is harsh and lacks sweetness to balance it out. A blind buy fail for me.

OG vs clone: Crème de cuir blends a creamy suede with a subtle sweet pineapple in the background, the whole thing being spiced up by a bright pepper note. Meringue is very similar but amps up the pineapple and tones down the pepper. It's a simpler version. An almost gourmand pineapple supported by a subtle creamy suede note. The pineapple used to be aggressively synthetic but has evolved into something quite nice. The scent then slowly turns into a pleasant musk before fading away around the 7h mark. Very happy with how this one turned out, especially for a "clone". But it took a long time to get there. Definitely let your Meringue macerate!

Jesus!! Merengue is whipped egg whites with sugar!! if you whipp them long enough the egg whites rise and it becomes hard enough and you can cover your desserts with or pastries with the mixture but it has to be cooked at least for a while because you can get salmonella if eaten raw. Just like everyone that likes eating batter its typical that people lick the the spatula and the bowl with merengue its just not recomendable, but its good.

I am in looove with this💜 i tried creme de cuir about 2 years ago, and i really liked it, but would not give that much money. I will pay for a full bottle of this beauty very soon, and i will enjoy wearing it. It boosts my mood and confidence. My husband says it is a perfume for men, for me, a lover of woody smokey perfumes, it is completely unisex.

The name is misleading. It's not a sweet, fluffy scent like a meringue desert. Sorry Fragrance World but you shouldn't toy with gourmand lovers' hopes and expectations ;) Edit: You can give my comment as many blue stars you want, this won't change the fact that this fragrance has nothing to do with the dessert with the same name.

it reminds me a lot of Emporio Armani Lei, although they don't really share notes. It is smokier or more leathery, more refined and leaning more masculine. the presentation (bottle & name ) is totally misleading

@Detman101 merengue is a dance, meringue is a type of cake. Get your facts straight. The spelling is correct.

When I first smelled this, I was reminded of Prada Luna rossa black. Anyone else get this vibe?
