Just a couple of minutes in, I was stunned by how much it resembled the celebrated Valaya from Parfums de Marly. The fusion of soft citrus, musk, and jasmine gave off the exact same vibe, though Muse feels much airier—almost like Valaya’s little sister. While Valaya packs a punch with its bold musk, Muse is light and breezy. Jasmine in this composition doesn’t push its dominant side but lends a free-spirited sensuality, just enough to elevate the overall blend. The base is all about the strength of musk and a wisp of clean vanilla, swirling gently to support the airy florals in a smooth, delicate embrace. At some point during wear, the composition unfolds into a fruitier dimension, which further supports the playful, outdoorsy nature of the fragrance. Let’s all agree that white florals never go out of style. Whether paired with musk, woods, fruits or even incense, they remain highly popular and effortlessly timeless. Muse is a spitting image of Parfums de Marly’s esteemed Valaya—but without the punchy musk. It’s an airy, carefree version that doesn’t hit as hard but still wraps you in its aura without overwhelming you or others. I own Valaya and tested them side by side—the resemblance is uncanny. Muse softens more quickly and leaves delicate trails, while Valaya continues to project its musky aura for much longer. If Valaya feels too florally-musk-forward for your liking, then Muse might just be your perfect match! It offers the same vibe, with less musk, at a fraction of the price. I’m just quite surprised it has been two years since its release and it’s not resonating as it should within the fragrance community! It’s a bargain no one should pass up.
