Mezcal Chocolat

Mezcal Chocolat is a true shapeshifter. On the first spray, it hits like a salted lime shot. Bright, zingy citrus with a margarita vibe, sharpened by chili pepper and a whisper of smoky mezcal. It feels electric and almost fizzy. As it begins to settle, a rich dusted cacao rises up and for a moment I was convinced this is headed straight into gourmand territory. Dark, rich cocoa with a boozy warmth, like sipping mezcal alongside a square of chocolate. The real magic lies in the final dry down. The upfront sweetness melts away and you're left with something far more sensual. Creamy woods, & smoky vanilla remain leaving a soft suede-like texture that is 100% addictive. This fragrance reminds me of a sultry beach vacation filled with string bikinis during the day, and form-fitting dresses at night, dancing on the beach to Latin music. This fragrance is completely genderless, (duh, all fragrances are But the real question is - Is this the scent I'm going to wear for a night full of dancing, or is it what I want my partner to wear while they're pressed close to me?

I absolutely LOVE this decadent chocolate gourmand that hits a spicy smoky accord at first sniff, and then drifts into this creamy delicious chocolate that just marinates on my skin so beautifully to create a cozy wonderland I get lost in. Some people I know think cacao is polarizing to wear as a scent but I personally love indulging in it. I feel like I want to bite off my own wrist every night when I wear it and the dry down is so decadent and also seems to last forever. The clothes I have perfumed it with get to a nice Cade oil smoky vanilla late late into the dry down and I just think it is so pleasant. Highly recommend and if you do, definitely wait and let it sit!! The initial hit is a great old rickety bar with chilis limes and cocktails and then the dry down is so decadent gourmand deliciousness.

the opening is a bit sharp, you definately get the chili and salted lime that can feel punchy on the nose - but as it dries it has this feeling that is boozy and almost has a liquor chocolate note to it which i find interesting and enjoyable! it transitions into this creamy woody chocolate thats almost a little powdery - sort of like smelling the powder you'd use to make hot chocolate or bake with not just pure chocolate. there's definately a smokiness to it that doesnt read campfire to me at all, just very sexy and dark a lot of people wouldnt wear this in the day, but i would, i think the powderiness of it makes it a little more wearable for day, just certainly not in the dead of summer lol

I literally said wow out loud when I first sprayed this onto my skin, and that was before I'd even lifted my arm close to my nose. This is an absolute love for me. The smoky, boozy, cocoa/dark chocolate is so deep and sexy, this would be a perfect evening out scent (I wouldn't wear it to the office, and definitely not in summer!). It lasts very well on my skin, and has a strong projection - with one spray on each wrist I can easily still smell this after a few hours. Will be adding to my wishlist for sure. Love!

I thought I would hate it according to the notes but I am fighting for my life not to buy a full size right now. The opening smells like tequila with lime, after one minute it changes to dark chocolate with orange peel and a just a hint of tequila but the dry down... omg the dry down smells like sweet incens. It leans more masculine I would love it on a man but it is wearable for woman too. I will test it for more days and probably buy full size for fall.

I love it so so much. It is pure sex for me. Seductive and addictive. This will enter room first and departs long after you. Mescal is present would probably loved a bit more of that. I like this perfume house already ordered two new ones and can't wait till I'll get them

I was hesitant about French Cowboy and their perfumes for a few reasons. One being the very obvious fake reviews for Pear Pavlova here on fragrantica (still up as I'm writing this), the other being the marketing consisting of tiktok / insta videos that look manufactured precisely to go viral (especially towards a gen z audience) to the point of it feeling inauthentic; almost industry plant like. I am saying this as a fellow zoomer. Oh, and the potential usage of AI for their instagram ads because (to me) it looked suspicious and had some telltale signs of it. I was happy to get free samples and I find that very sweet, but you could probably tell why I was a bit nervous with trying the perfumes out especially with seeing some other mediocre reviews. Right off the bat though I can tell you that Mezcal Chocolat is pretty nice! When I first sprayed it I immediately thought of three words, being: lime, pepper, chocolate. There's also a noticeable frankincense in there for sure, which I adore. It's such a unique combination imo, the perfume isn't too sweet either which is really ideal for me. I find gourmands much more interesting when they're sort of unusual, more unique with their composition or have a story which I find that this perfume does to some degree. There was also something in this that kind of gave me the impression of something typically "perfumey", which I believe now is what is the boozy aspect of the fragrance. I ended up sleeping with this on me and the next morning it had turned into a skin scent. More of a pleasant creamy vanilla in the drydown and has good longevity to it, basically. Overall I am pleasantly surprised and I would say that I'm into it; and 90 euros for a 100 ml? That's actually incredibly reasonable and pretty affordable compared to other "niche" fragrances on the market. HOWEVER. I am still not sure if I would buy a full bottle because of those (potential) fake reviews and the (potential) AI usage. I say potential because I can't -prove- anything, but to me it seems incrediblyyy obvious which is so disappointing for a brand that doesn't need any of it; especially if the perfumes are good like this. It's hard to explain, but the fragrances themselves also feel weirdly made "to be trendy" with their concepts, but that could just be me tbh. TLDR: Good chocolatey fragrance with a punchy opening, unsure if I would support the brand as I find some things suspicious and need to see how things develop.

The bottle and vivid colours are beautiful and look stunning with other perfumes on my shelf. The scent itself - I’m not usually a fan of chocolate as it feels too overwhelming, but this is great. A dark cocoa (someone mentioned it smells like the Abuelita chocolate which couldn’t be more accurate) with a vibrant, sharp mix of peppery notes, chili and lime, topped off with booziness. Smelling it up close makes my nose sting as if I’m actually smelling a spicy chili pepper. To me personally it lacks just a touch of smokiness or darkness for depth, but it’s nothing layering can’t fix. In the drydown, the scent becomes woodier and creamier, with vanilla, rum and olibanum getting more present. Incredible longevity and quality overall, the samples are also free on their website so I highly recommend giving them a try

Few days ago I got both of the samples, this one dried down so bad on me...all i could smell was mezcal and smokiness and I couldn't stand it. On the other hand, my brother put it on and it was completely different, it dried down to be refreshing with salted lime coming through but also kinda creamy and warm. Also our whole kitchen smelled like this perfume after he did only one spray on his hand. Not for me, but love it on others!

the opening is very chocolatey rich and boozy, however the dry-down is so much like Replica By The Fireplace. it’s really hard to tell them apart. I do like this scent but i think i outgrew that phase in my life hence why I am happy with the sample size. It is very pleasant though, I would love to smell it on a man.

it started off as very chocolatey and slowly changed into something smokier with a strong hint of cocoa powder, it smells almost like a campfire to me so I would say it is very unisex. its not sweet enough for me on its own but I think it would be delicious paired with something vanilla and caramel themed

Unsure about this. First spray is SUPER chocolatey and synthetic, but not unpleasant. Dries down to a nice spiced scent. Definitely agree about the Abuelita similarity. Smells really good paired alongside a cigarette--def recommend. It's growing on me the longer it lingers on me.

This is delicious dark bitter smoky chocolate. If you're only interested in bakery gourmand chocolate with a ton of sugar look elsewhere. The initial spray is quite harsh for about 20-30 mins but then settles into a nice aromatic scent that leans masculine. Lovely drydown.

The opening is sweet and fruity, reminds me of a very local italian christmas treat (Panbriacone), but after the first hour you have this soft vanilla surrounded by smoky and woody notes, like a sweeter and higher quality version of Cypress & Vetiver by Proraso

i really like this, though i don't think i would ever wear it, if that makes sense. pretty dry and powdery, and i wouldn't call it warm either. to me, it's chocolate and lime and green wood.

A very accurate encapsulation of Mezcal Chocolat! Lots of cacao on initial spray and very much an earthy gourmand, and then it quickly became a gritty, earthy, spiced cacao with a touch of bitterness. I do love the dry down- woody, vanilla, with a touch of something like incense and remnants of ground up cacao. It'd be interesting to smell this on a man.

A bit nauseating when first sprayed, after couple of minutes you can smell the fruits. After 2-3 hours on my skin it smells similar to Bianco Latte with woody notes. I would wear it during very cold winter evenings and definitely not every day!

Mezcal Chocolat doesn’t smell like mezcal or chocolate for me so much as it smells like the memory technology of chocolate. Specifically the waxy, chemical approximation of “chocolate” you encountered as a child when a teacher rewarded you with a sticker shaped like a smiley face. The chocolate note here is flat and plasticky, with that unmistakable paraffin-meets-cocoa-powder profile that instantly transports you to a classroom bulletin board circa 1987. It’s not edible chocolate; it’s instructional chocolate. The kind meant to suggest flavor without ever risking realism. The mezcal note tries valiantly to add depth, but instead of smoky agave, it reads as the same faintly solvent-like undertone that lived beneath every scratch-and-sniff sticker, an aroma that said, “This is technically scented, please don’t ask how.” The smoke isn’t campfire or charcoal; it’s adhesive smoke, the ghost of glue sticks and laminated worksheets. What seals the comparison is the texture. The fragrance has that peculiar dry sweetness that sits on the skin the way those stickers sat on paper: present, cheerful, and completely two-dimensional. You don’t smell like you’re wearing perfume; you smell like you’ve just rubbed a sticker between your fingers and can’t stop sniffing them out of nostalgia and mild concern. Despite being better than their Pear Pavlova, Mezcal Chocolat smells less like a drink or a dessert and more like a childhood reward system with one star for effort, zero stars for olfactory realism, and an A+ in triggering a deeply specific Gen-X memory you didn’t ask to relive. My eight-year old niece would love this perfume!

Not for everyone, and certainly not for me. The concept is genuinely interesting, but the execution lacks refinement. The opening is extremely strong and synthetic - a very intense, almost nauseating chocolate that comes across more like artificial cocoa than a rich gourmand. As it dries down, it transforms into a sticky, spicy mezcal accord with a smoky warmth that becomes more interesting, but it still feels overpowering. Worth noting: it also seems to react very differently depending on the wearer. On my skin, it leaned heavily toward spicy, boozy chocolate, while on my colleague, it developed into something much more incense-forward and resinous. I can see this working better as a bold fall or winter fragrance, especially for someone who enjoys intense, unconventional scents. For me, though, the overpowering opening and synthetic edge make it a pass.

The first spray on my wrist—it’s a very strong, overpowering scent, and, dare I say it, sickening. As time goes by, the scent fades and softens, but the damage is done: the whole apartment is contaminated. My boyfriend burst out laughing; he thought I’d messed up a dessert. The smoky wood scent is too overpowering. The concept was interesting and very original, but unfortunately, it’s not for me. I wouldn’t recommend wearing it to work, or you might get sent home or quarantined.

A dark, waxy, processed chocolate instead of the creamy cacao I was expecting. There is something so bitter in this that it makes me gag...

Just got a sample of this as i blind bought Pear Pavlova and now Im thinking it should have been the other way around. This is a beautiful chocolate scent! Also looked up the chef who they worked with for this and ummm yeah I could stare at that all day 🤣🥵 i get a sort of salted chocolate with a slight boozy lime but like the other review said really not much smoky mezcal, more a light fruity side of it. As far as chocolate scents go I really like this, not so artificial smelling like a lot are, it’s fun, playful, wearable but still unique enough.

I do get a lot of mexican chocolate from this scent. Have you seen these chocolate tablets sold by the name "Abuelita"? these are very nice...this scent has something very similar to that type of chocolate. Unfortunately it also comes with a ton of cypriol and some harsh notes. Not Oud...more like synthethic amberwoods or Ambroxan/Ambrofix...something harsh like a solvent. The Harsh notes get milder in the drydown but never go away. Sample it first.

Wow I think this is going to be one of the best seller 2026 guys amazing realistic chocolate 🍫 but I have to say I don’t get any of the smoky mezcal that is in the name but still amazing 🤩

As a stand alone it’s too smoky too heavy for me. But hear me out. This + vanilla for breakfast together 😉
