Hesperides Grapefruit

Finally! A citrus scent done right! I received mine as a gift from a very kind member here - thank-you! Over the last month, I've tried two other citrus based scents and they could never hope to hold a candle to this one. Those other two garnered negative reviews from me but this one is going to be positive. Have you ever had one of those days where you just don't know which fragrance in your wardrobe to grab for? On those days, this is the one I reach for. It's so perfectly blended. The notes harmonize with one another to create something so clean, clear, sparkling and fresh. I love the touch of sourness and tartness this has. Really beautiful! The grapefruit really is the star here and I couldn't be any happier with it. Puts me in mind of hot summer days. Sitting at a picnic table with a gingham table cloth draped over it. In front of you; a big, clear, glass pitcher of ruby red grapefruit cocktail juice filled to the brim with ice and slices of yellow and pink grapefruit! You reach for it because you know it's what you need. The perfume is no different.

Hesperides is a dose of juicy fresh bright ripe grapefruit and all that is delightful. I have worn this off and on for years (since it was in the tall skinny bottle)...yet STILL every time I put it on I want to say "mmmm" out loud. It is a simple fragrance, yet very well done. There is nothing to really decipher or figure out....it is just to be enjoyed. It doesn't cause you to see Cleopatra and her cat or give you any sort of hallucinatory benefits (as I see happening in reviews for other more "complex" fragrances. Are some of them laced with LSD or something?). But Hesperides sure smells awfully good. If you like grapefruit, citrus or anything remotely of the sort...buy the biggest bottle of this that you can find, you won't be disappointed. I will put it this way...whenever I am disappointed in a fragrance that I just blindly purchased (even the $200+ kind)....I wash it off, neutralize, rinse, repeat. Then spray myself down with Hesperides and all is right with the world again.

This is actually called HESPERIDES GRAPEFRUIT and was renamed this many years ago. It's a wonderfully JUICY, ZESTY grapefruit-leading citrus fragrance. Sooo refreshing, makes you feel like you just got out of the shower! I adore citrus fragrances and used to own this. Here's the kicker though...this did not last more than 20 minutes on my skin. And I mean it completely vanished after 20 mins. And I used to spray on a TON of it. It was so frustrating! But boy were those 20 minutes wonderful. Sometime around 2010, I had a perfume by Fresh called BERGAMOT CITRUS and it was DIVINE!!! It was a peppery lemon scent, I was so in love with it. Much better longevity than Hesperides. They discontinued it and I was crushed. FRESH, PLEASE BRING BACK BERGAMOT CITRUS!

I don't know what it is about my body chemistry, but perfumes last a long time on me. If I put something on in the morning and don't shower at night, I will probably still smell it the next day, albeit very weakly. Every single perfume. Except for this one. Which is a tragedy, because this is citrus PERFECTION. If you are drawn to citrusy fresh perfumes, this is absolute heaven. It's not spicy and only a little bit sweet. Fresh without being too tart or too feminine. But it's fleeting; less than an hour and it's gone. I never detected any of the base notes described here, probably because I was reapplying so much, but I also don't have the most sophisticated nose. If this lasts on you, consider yourself lucky.

I purchased this fragrance years ago, before I got into fragrances. I fell in love with it at a Sephora in Planet Hollywood Las Vegas. It always reminds me of wandering around shopping in Vegas. I think this is the ultimate office scent. It is beautiful, but also very mild and inoffensive. It dissipates quickly, which could be seen as a negative, but I just look at it as an opportunity to spray a bit more and enjoy that lovely opening over and over again. Years later I still love it and wear it when I'm not sure if the people I will be around will be the type who get angry at perfumes. I've never met anyone who found this perfume offensive. Everyone I have shared it with, through multiple gifts, loves it.

I didn't have much to add to the previous reviews until today. I love Fresh Hesperides so much, but it has absolutely no lasting power. Doesn't matter how many sprays, doesn't matter if I spray it on fabric, it is gone in 15 minutes. I don't think it's much better than a body spray, and for the price tag, it's ridiculous. So I was on a mission to find another fragrance that is similar, and I found it! Moschino I Love Love has a very similar zingy grapefruit note and it lasts much longer. The price is also better, when you compare equivalent sizes. If you love Hesperides, but hate the lasting power, give I Love Love a try.

This is my absolute favorite smell! The initial spray is so tart that it leaves my mouth watering. Grapefruit is front and center of this perfume and the citrus, rhubarb and musk add just enough undertones to make this stand out as more complex then a bath and body spray. My only complaint it that the wear time is horrible 1-2 hours MAX! I will start using this as a bed time spray to smell my favorite scent as I fall asleep. Fresh does sell a set with the body wash and lotion which I am excited to purchase and use the full set to see if that increases the length of scent.

I love this grapefruit spray so much that I am on my second bottle. It is light, airy and wonderfully citrusy. It gives a strong pop of grapefruit initially and then becomes very mellow. It doesn't last a long time but on my skin/cloths it can still last several hours which is perfect for me. It doesn't give me a headache and just makes my day happier. I love it for summer but really it can be an all year scent for those living in warmer climates. As others have mentioned, it layers well with other scents. Just one I come back to again and again because it is so magical.

I love this scent, but it isn't lasting. It's one I keep on my desk and reapply when I need a pickup while working. I wouldn't wear this if I wanted something that would last. It really is "fresh" smelling, and definite grapefruit. Fresh perfumes were one of the first brands I got into after trying them in a Sephora during a trip to Las Vegas. Now this scent always makes me think about wandering around the casinos.

I love this HESPERIDES alot, I am not fan of pure or sharp citrus but this grapfruit citrus got some sophisticate sweetie combination of scent itself. Um juicy sweetie and on my skin+cloth, it lasts 6-8 hrs even not lound but closed to skin; and its top-base note are quite linear from the beginning to end. Love it and will buy it again after emptied for sure.

Sad to say but this doesn’t last at all but oh so good! It smells really, really good! The first time i smelled this, i immediately thought of freshly squeezed grapefruit. This is realistic! I like this more than atelier’s pomelo paradis coz of it’s simplicity. It’s just straight grapefruit scent which blends well with my skin.

I am always happy to wear Fresh Eau De Parfum Hesperides layered with Acqua di Parma Blu Mediterraneo - Mandorlo di Sicilia. I adore this grapefruit scent, which is fizzy and makes my mouth water. It's like bottled sunshine with a touch of sweat, but in a good way! I just wish it lasted longer.

Smells so lovely! Fresh, zesty, uplifting - a really natural smelling, grapefruit. So sad this has no lasting power on me, like most other citruses. I sprayed this on at Sephora and by the time a got home a half hour later, it was gone!

So good. Perfect pink grapefruitiness. Doesn't last long so use this one to wake up! I suppose you could try to extend it by slathering on moisturizer before using but short is the duration of citrus.

Wonderful natural-smelling grapefruit. Fresh, zesty, light. I so wish it had more staying power on my skin. I still have a sample and spray the wrist just to make me feel joyous and smiling.

A gorgeous daily scent! Very pure grapefruit, citrusy. I often get headaches from perfumes, but this one has not caused any. Barely lasts though :(

A highly unique scent. Fresh, floral, and fruity, but doesn't actually smell like grapefruit or straight citrus to me.

Juiciest most perfect grapefruit. Linear. Seems to not last long though...Safe blind buy for a grapefruit lover.

Ugh! So good! This is the perfume I want to reach for everyday in the summer! Sparkling pink grapefuit with a touch of sweetness and musk. So refreshing! Great pick-me-up scent to get your day started off right without the extra calories of a glass of juice. As others have said, citrus perfection! I wish it lasted a little longer--I get 5-ish hours. I picked up that d/c B&BW grapefruit to compare and that one is MUCH sweeter--like candied grapefruit. Hesperides is much fresher and more natural. She's basically a love....why fight it?

I was resistant about having this in my collection. Like I needed another light citrus? Yes, indeed I did. The smell of grapefruit brings about a positive/optimistic attitude, so a spritz here and there does wonders for the mood. It does stay close to the skin. I smell the dry floral of lotus and the bite of rhubarb. The mixture of grapefruit and orange is what I mainly smell as it runs thru all the notes. This and cannabis santal are my favorites in the line. If you like Jo Malone lime, basil, mandarin you may like this one too!

This is a nice, well-balanced citrus scent. I think part of why I like citrus is that the natural essential oils are inexpensive enough to be used by perfumers so they do not need to resort to synthetic molecules. It is fresh and energizing, and not annoyingly sweet like some other ":Fresh" fragrances (the Sugar ones and Sake--which had the potential of being lovely but isn't, for me). It layers well with the floral scents by L'Occitane (Pivoine for example). Divine accompaniment to my day and safe for work.

Absoultely love this fragrance which I have in the EDT (which I think was discontinued) and the EDP. Unfortunately neither has much, if any longevity on my skin or clothes whatsoever, as with most of the Fresh range I've tried. Shame, for the price I would not repurchase but one thing I will add is even though this is a citrus scent, it's never caused any problems with my allergies, despite spraying a lot.

Citrus doesn’t always work well with my body chemistry, but this one is done right!! Initial spray is a fresh burst of sweet&sour grapefruit which slowly fades as time goes by, but never fully disappears. The dry down is yummy and fresh musk and peach. A little sweet. Love it. Not my most favorite scent, but it’s very enjoyable and summery. Longevity and sillage are okay. 7/10!

Super strong right off the bat sour grapefruit. This was my first perfume for a while. It will always be a favorite because of how it dries down and blends into my skin, becoming more sweet and inviting. If you aren't into sour, citrus scents, this is not for you. I was always a bit afraid that it was too overpowering or too sour for others. Personally, I liked the smell!

This is a really good citrus. Unisex, warm weather friendly. It has a sourness to it probably from the rhubarb that really stands this apart from other citrus'. The dry dow is very interesting as well. The sweetness from peach and the aquatic lotus notes make this hang on my skin for a long time. Big thumbs up, I will always have a bottle in my collection.

Thank you so much for adding this!! I think this is one of the best gourmand citrus scents out there. You have to like grapefruit for this, and if you do I highly recommend it. Nice uplifting and crips. This doesn't last a real long time like most citrus scents, but the silage is good (not strong but it's there). Great for really hot summer days.

The opening is so nice: a sweet juicy grapefruit! Unfortunately I'm not a huge fan of the dry down: a musky-peach that is a bit astringent. Without the top citrus notes to go with the dry down, the base ends up smelling a little bitter and generic. 6/10

Lovely, "juicy" grapefruit scent. I get a bit of sweet orange and lemon at the start, but the dry down reminds me of sweetened grapefruit juice. It does have poor longevity, and is gone after a couple of hours. However, it is pretty while it lasts.

This is an amazing and FRESH grapefruit. Literally just as refreshing as cutting into a giant grapefruit on a hot summer day. The only issue is that this last a max of 30 minutes on skin, it’s so sad.

Love it - does not last but not sure I care. Will definitely be buying a big bottle. I find the grapefruit really uplifting on a dull day and very refreshing on a sunny one.

Of the four citrus notes listed, I do get grapefruit the most—obviously the name of the fragrance says so. It is pleasant and refreshing.

I love this! Much different than Sugar Lemon. Fresh, bright and lovely, yet it has a cozy layer to it. Very nice.

It’s the PERFECT grapefruit but it only lasts about an hour. It’s more aromatherapy than perfume.

Very fresh and uplifting. The citrus notes stayed throughout, only mellowing to something floral at the end, but keeping the citrus notes. Not sure if I want to smell like this all the time. It could get very sharp and harsh.

I adore rhubarb, love grapefruit scents in the summer and have had good luck with many Fresh scents. Unfortunately this one is a big disappointment. There is something artificial and too sharp about this--it seems like some kind of disinfectant that has lemon added to mask the unpleasant smell. There are enough positive reviews that this is probably a personal chemistry thing. Onward and upward. If you ever wondered what detoxed water which has fruits In tastes and feel like this is exactly the same Let me explain When you see a detox water with fruit slices inside of its your first time trying it you will be disappointed it tastes like water with less than hint of taste Now here it’s exactly wow grapefruit and all this stuff but when you spray it It doesn’t last for an hour A literal waste of money as if you are burning your cash Do not buy get pomelo paradise instead infinitely better

Another bright and shiny citrus offering from Fresh, HESPERIDES is initially all about grapefruit, both juice and zest, until the classic Fresh base kicks in, which I happen to love, so naturally this is another winner in my perfume book. From the reviews I've seen, people seem pretty much divided as regards Guerlain's PAMPLELUNE: some smell in that composition cat pee, while others find it divine. Those in the former category still looking for an excellent grapefruit fragrance should definitely give HESPERIDES a try. More generally, anyone who likes citrus scents really must check out the house of Fresh, since they do them better than just about anyone else. Natural, juicy, with enough depth and quality to count as haute cologne in most cases. But the non-citrus scents--CANNABIS ROSE and CANNABIS SANTAL--are bona fide perfumes. Of all of the contenders in the "don't worry, be happy" group of perfume houses, Clean, Philosophy, and Fresh, Fresh, I am now prepared boldly to assert, is by far the best. Let's all keep our fingers crossed that the founders of this house do not come under the nefarious accounting influences of their supercorporate master... 5.05.11

Hesperides smells like a pleasantly scented grapefruit Summer magic play set or unicorn toy for girls. It smells like a grapefruit vitamin C lozenge (minus the menthol). It is sweet, though not in a cloying or excessively cheap way, but there is no depth whatsoever to this fragrance. It is a matte, pale yellow grapefruit pillow. It would be a nice first perfume for a girl between the ages of 8 and 12. If I had to choose between Hesperides and Sugar Lychee, I would definitely go with the Sugar Lychee. Though it is also synthetic, somewhat linear and lacking in depth, something about that particular rendition of lychee makes it fresh, palatable, and quite memorable, capable of transcending the boundaries of its target audience. It's a tall glass of pink lemonade Kool-aid. Sometimes that's just what the heart wants.

I am a fan of grapefruit so when I was in Sephora today, I picked this up and smelled it.. It was love at first whiff... It is tart and sweet. Soft but strong and just smells fresh and fruity and citrusy.. This scent is fast becoming one at the beginning of the rotation. I buy at least a perfume every week (must stop) and since Amazing Grace and I fell in love this is the first fragrance that I may see on the side. I can't wait to wear this on a hot day and smell that grapefruit wafting up to my nose.. If you like grapefruit, you won't be sorry you bought this one.. It does tend to fade quickly but I have found that fragrances that wear off quickly, to rub a little mineral oil on before applying. The mineral oil has no scent but gives the fragrance something to stick to and then you can rub it in if you wish.

I got this for free at Sephora, using my rewards points! It's SO fresh and fizzy. It's straight up grapefruit, bolstered by the other citruses, and grounded and edged by the tart rhubarb...but it's not completely tangy, thanks to the light lotus note, making this altogether pleasing, fresh, and a breath of clean air. It's uplifting and crisp, perfect for those days when you're just completely tuckered out. I take it along with me and spritz when I'm feeling exhausted in the middle of my work/school day. It's definitely a wonderful pick me up...but don't count on it to last too long. I can squeeze about a two hours out of it, with three spritzes to the arm.

Not as sharp and sour as I was hoping! This is sour and bitter, but it's quite sweet, like the juice of a ripe grapefruit. Kind of leaves my nose with a cozy feeling at the end; I definitely get the peach and musk. Maybe it will grow on me, but I had different expectations. Nothing like the lemon sharpness in Eros pour Femme EDT or even Light Blue EDT. Those are really sour and the lemon cuts into most of the sweetness from any other notes.

Hesperidies by Fresh is always in my summer collection. It starts sharp & bitter like grapefruit rind & dries down to a pleasing citrus. It's like the morning summer sun. Definately for the daylight summer hours. Hesperidies reminds me of Annick Goutal Eau de Hadrien, a citrus as well & also part of my summer wardrobe. But, Hadrien is sophisticated & layered, gentler, softer like the juice of a lemon. It's for the sunset and evening.

On my skin it smells like a sharp, warm and loud grapefruit. Tart and juicy, almost as if I had recently scooped the flesh out of a grapefruit, and left the juice running down my arm and leaving it to dry. When I have it on I can almost feel the stickiness of dried down juice where I last sprayed it along my arms and neck, though in a very positive, and nostalgic way (although my review might not sound as such hahaha)

The opening is indeed a blast of fresh grapefruit. There is also a candy/gourmand facet to this perfume. Nice and summery. As others have said, the longevity is the main drawback. Twenty sprays and it was barely there after two hours. Although, I did buy this on eBay, so it could be an old bottle as well.

I really love this one. It's bright, crisp and dare I say fresh. It keeps it's opening throughout yet middle notes give it enough complexity to make it interesting. I noticed this on my coat after a long day and the dry down was perfect. It's grapefruit but better.

Unisex citrusy and fresh. ...even fine for kids to wear to wake em up before school. Smells good on men and women alike. This is kind of a no perfume office scent or a summer refreshing scent or the one you would grab if you need one with zing

A secret garden of grapefruit trees and fresh flowers, Hesperides Grapefruit is like walking through a grove of your most sacred memories... transient, but oh so sweet. Pairs well with sunshine and white linens.
