Sake

I had long forgotten about the bottle I still have of this once beloved scent until this morning. I'm so happy that I decided to give it another whirl! It's the epitomy of a 'clean' aroma, but with a stimulating ginger and grapefruit bite! While those are the most pronounced of the notes, I feel the sandalwood is a grounding element and keeps Sake from being too cloying. It is certainly not your standard 'citrus' fragrance. What I think is most satisfying about Fresh Sake is that it lingers close to your skin, but is JUST present enough for you to catch the occasional whiff of yourself and think 'Gee, I smell good'! It's a refreshing, cooling tonic of a scent that has, at least in my experience, solid longevity. Perfect for when you want to create an uplifting yet subtley polished air about you via scent!

I tried Sake on a whim, and it has quickly become my most reached for scent. Sake is a gorgeous mix of citrus, ginger, peach, osmanthus, and lychee, with a heavy dose of white rice underneath it. I'm surprised rice isn't listed in the notes or in the reviews below, because the rice stands out so strongly on my skin! The rice and ginger (and sandalwood, I suppose) keep this perfume from being a simple fruity floral fragrance, and lend the scent a lot of comfort and warmth. To me, white rice is really nostalgic, and this scent feels downright cozy on my skin. It almost reminds me of a mango sticky rice type dessert. Sake is the most grown up of the Fresh perfumes, and with its excellent sillage and staying power I have become a devoted fan.

I really, really love this - I came across a tester in Sephora, only to find out it's being discontinued for reformulation and thus unavailable. However I managed to track down a current, full-sized 100ml bottle. It smells absolutely lovely on my skin - fresh and not overwhelmingly sweet, but perfectly well-balanced instead, and the drydown into a gentle vanilla-y musk is very cozy. I find the longevity to be pretty good even in my tropical country's hot, humid weather - sprayed on in the morning, could still smell it on me in the early evening.

I love this perfume. It is so different from what I usually wear, which are florals. Fortunately, I do not get the grapefruit vibe. Nothing says grapefruit like 3 L'Imperatrice, which I hate with a holy passion. The dry down is a great body scent that is a musky, vanilla-ish, with a whiff of lotus thrown in. Wears like a comfy favorite sweatshirt. My skin just seemed to absorb it. I don't necessarily see this as a man's scent. This is for women who are sure about themselves. Definitely not for the wishy washy.

My nose doesn't interpret this as a citrus, or a floral, or a fruity. The drydown of this is pretty vanilla-oriental-gourmand. It is LOVELY, and one of the few light vanilla fragrances that isn't too sweet. There is DEFINITELY a rice note somewhere in this fragrance that's not listed here. It's extremely obvious in the drydown and smells like an aromatic Thai rice pudding or something like that.

This is my go to scent when I'm looking through my frags for what I am in the mood to wear. I think this should be categorized as an oriental. I don't think of florals when I wear this amazing scent. I even use the bath soap which is also amazing! LOVE LOVE LOVE THIS ONE!!

Nummy chypre sillage akin to Cristalle, but with fizzy peach freshness up close. Next-day lasting power with an extended drydown like Caron's Le 3eme Homme. Just lovable.

It's 5am and the first rays of light are warming the small pond in a zen garden. A fresh, brisky breeze rustles the dry reeds. No other plants nor sounds around. There are geometrical designs drawn in the fine sand around 2-3 big smooth rocks. The sand still bears the faint memory of sea salt. You breathe deeply, finish meditating, and go dress up for work - in a light grey pinstripe, wide-legged and soft pantsuit. This is what this fragrance evokes for me : order and focus, but in a calm, meditative way. I don't get the name at all, there's nothing sharp or boozy about this. It is so well balanced: slightly powdery-mineral, slightly aquatic, very little floral or plant scents in it. Grey, geometrical (but rounded) harmonious, a tad dry, slightly salty. My first review below (as Manya) is from 11 years ago and my perception maybe changed a bit since. It is one of the first perfumes I bought for myself, years ago, and I still have about 30ml in the huge round bottle. I guess the scent could have changed and mellowed with time? It is possible. I still wear it every once in a while, on cold spring mornings.

I had a splitz of it at a local department store this afternoon. To me Sake opens up with a special scent, but could already detect a hint of peach. Peachy enough, it went go till the end of the middlenote, plus a bit spicy scent for me - smelt like pepper - though there's no pepper from the ingredients mentioned, except ginger. Anyways, it's now vanilla i notice that lingers on my skin. I didn't expect to have found a bottle of 'sake' as I was looking for more of a zen kind of perfume (surely not ZEN from Shiseido because it makes my head dizzy) but am glad I did, and am surprised at its lasting power.

I used to wear it non-stop for about four or five months when I got it, but it is definitely more of a summer fragrance. Not too citrusy, not too sharp, not too sweet - a perfect balance of flower and fruit notes with a woody drydown. It becomes a bit "flat" after a while, not really changing or developping, but still very enjoyable. I find this fragrance to be quite serious, none of the loud candy-fruity fun you get in pink bottles nowadays. If it were a colour, it would be white! It is quiet, and feminine. It does smell of rice water a bit. You will enjoy it if you like moderately tame scents.

Complex frag: both gentle and assertive. Softness from osmanthus and lotus. Peach mingles extremely well with osmanthus. Cheeky and strong personality from sake and ginger wafts. This bears tiny resemblance to Tesori d'Oriente Fior di Loto, yet quieter, finer and devoid of that fabric softener obviousness.

In the beginning it's very pleasant, a bit fruity but you can detect another note that makes it quite different from other fruity scents out there. I thought it really did remind me of sake, and was happy to have found an original but relatively safe fragrance. Unfortunately, after a few hours, it now smells exactly like a car air freshener and just a whiff of it is enough to cause me a headache.

Firstly, I have no idea why this is called 'Sake'. The name is utterly confusing to me. I bought this edp looking for a peach scent - which is undoubtedly is, with sweetness and a decent amount of osmanthus thrown in. Some might say its a bit artificial. Whilst I like it, be warned it comes on VERY STRONG indeed. Every time I wear it, it unfortunately gives me a headache.

After looking around for a fragrance that contained peach and vanilla, I came upon this. I spritzed some on myself in the store to test it out. At first, I did like it, but it wasn't really anything special. The peach stood out. But a few hours later, the scent has died down to some weird hairspray-handsoap smell. Not a fan of this for me.

Green scent with hints of milkiness. Grapefruit and osmanthus emerge shortly after. Soft musky-milky drydown and it smells kind of funky. This is highly overpriced perfume:( it doesn't even last long enough 2 hours max and it is extremely light. edp-No, Cologne yes

Sake' indeed! one spray of this perfume and I smelled as if I'd been drinking all night, fell asleep in the same clothes, sweated a ton, and then rolled out of bed to drink some tea. Ugh, not appealing (for me) at all.

I liked Fresh Rose Morning and Fresh Life but found them a little simple, and so thought that this fragrance might be even better since it seemed more complex. I did like it quite a bit for the first couple of hours, especially the peach component (which smelled like real peaches to me), but really the mix overall was lovely. (Even at this point, my husband said that he found it to be overpowering though - not bad, just really strong, even though I had used only a tiny spray.) But then after maybe 4 hours of wear, it turned into something just horrible for me. The only good thing is that I didn't sense that smell in my environment after I showered, because I would not have wanted to go on smelling that. I found that very perplexing. Maybe it just doesn't get along with my personal chemistry, I guess.

Sake is one of those fragrances I always come back to and fall in love with all over again. While there are a thousand fruity floral compositions on the market, I've smelled none quite like this. I first tested Sake several years ago in a small boutique and was drawn to it for its lovely Japanese-inspired packaging (they've since changed the bottle design to match the others in the line). I sprayed it on my wrist while shopping with a friend and later that evening during drinks, I found myself enamored by the bold, juicy, vibrant Sake. First of all, longevity and sillage are absolutely perfect. Seriously. Not too much, but enough that I can smell it myself and others near me can enjoy it as well - and I don't mean those within a few inches of my neck - this reaches, on me, out to a distance of about 18 inches I believe. Additionally, it lasts and lasts, transforming from its opening of gingery-citrusy-effervescent peach to a beautiful osmanthus-lily-sandalwood with a touch of vanilla and a little of the peach that started the whole affair. I adore ginger and eat the candied variety as a treat so that may have something to do with my adoration of this fragrance - though, I will say that the ginger here is subdued and well-mannered; it doesn't steal the show and rather lends an effervescent quality to the fragrance. Perhaps this is an association with ginger ale or soda, because of the sweetness of the scent. The sweetness, however, is 100% natural to my nose. I don't get anything synthetic whatsoever in Sake. While I find it to be 100% original, I will say that I believe this is the re-vamped, modern version of Gucci Rush - a Gucci Rush Light if you will. While Sake has none of Rush's jasmine and gardenia, it's structure is quite similar, and the lactonic peachy notes are present in both. I fell in love with Rush back in the day so it's no wonder that this scent captured my heart as well. I always come back to it and it never fails to make me smile. My true signature scent. Beautiful. Original. Performs well. Garners compliments. Lifts the mood. If your nose has become jaded by all of the fruity florals out there that eventually begin to smell the same, don't write the category off entirely before giving this one a sniff! ;)

Fresh SAKE offers another bright and shiny, uplifting opening from this house. I've never smelled anything quite like this before. I would not call this composition a fruity floral so much as an aromatic chypre of sorts. It's definitely far less sweet than STRAWBERRY FLOWERS and more complex and unisex and less floral than PINK JASMINE. The assertive citrus opening subsides within a couple of minutes, giving way to what another reviewer identified as a fruity chypre similar to DECI DELA, and I definitely see her point. The texture here, more than the specific notes, strikes me as that of a chypre. It must be the ginger which makes this creation seem more unisex than feminine to me. The lotus, too, may contribute to the cologne-y feeling in the opening, though the overall longevity is that of an eau de parfum, with the chypre aspect lasting far longer than the aromatic opening. Anyway, I like it, though it's weird in that it doesn't really fit in any of the standard categories. SAKE is fresh and natural smelling, as I've come to expect from this house, and worth a sniff by anyone, since it really is something out of the ordinary. Those who mourned the discontinuation of DECI DELA will surely welcome the drydown of SAKE!

Fresh and sparkling, Sake opens with a citric tone followed quickly by osmathus and a little sweetness from white peach. The juice is a tad spicy from ginger. What amazes me here is a minty flavor that isn't mentioned in the notes, which is very refreshing and creates a quite strong resemblance to Mandragore from AG mixed with Aqua di Gioia from Armani. I can also smell some fresh cut wood and greens in it. Excellent for summer time and casual days. If it was a drink, I don't think it would be Sake, but rather a nice icy glass of Caipirinha ( a Brazilian beverage made from Agua ardiente, crushed mint leaves with ice cubes and fruit juice ). Silage and lasting power are a little below average on my skin. I got it in a swap and it's a keeper for me!

I'm another fan of how Sake opens; it's like a breath of fresh spring morning air. Citrus, when not hindered, always makes for a pure, enlivening welcome. So I happily went about my morning, making a cup of tea and eating lasts night's unfinished slice of banana cream cheesecake from the Cheesecake Factory, when I detected something more indulgent than my choice for breakfast. Something has gone awry with the base notes. I know what sandalwood, vanilla and musk smell like when done with love. Here they are done with chemicals, and I think that's whats making my nose curl. The result is something discordant and harsh, not at all what I want to experience on my still, Sunday morning. But at least the cheesecake was good...

I bought this last Summer because I wanted to try a new fresh scent for warm weather. At the first whiff I liked it, it seemed interesting and different. But as soon as I started wearing it reminded me of the scent of the Deep Woods bug spray I use when I go camping. No joke! After that I couldn't wear it anymore without thinking of Deep Woods. I even tried spraying it on my male friend and it smelled the same on him. I've kept it because I can't part with my perfumes- bit of a fragrance hoarding problem here. I might give it another try or give it to my dad. Bottom line, the smell is a bit too chemical and artificial. Also I do not smell rice vinegar or sake at all.

A friend suggested I try this fragrance, and I admit- I'm impressed! This is one of the most intriguing scents I have ever encountered! It is definately a green fragrance, but is it also gourmand? It seems to be an amazing blend of both, which is puzzling and gratifying at the same time. This is a wonderfully optimistic scent, with its crisp, fresh citrusy- green opening. The ginger note brings to mind a bubbly glass of refreshing ginger ale. Then I get a comforting, sweet rice pudding and vanilla accord as the perfume dries down. I agree wholeheartedly with nattonline, who stated "there is nothing else like it." I will be purchasing this incredible concoction!

It's embarrassing to write this, but I got Fresh Sake because someone told me it was a good perfume for dining out. Back before the Covid shutdown of 2020 I was concerned about what scent I could wear to a restaurant without competing or clashing with the food. Turns out, that's not a great way to select a fragrance (who knew?!?) Fresh Sake is not a sheer, rice-centered neutral that plays well with a variety of entrees. It's a robust ripe peach floral that laughed and laughed at me when I sprayed it on expecting lightness and subtlety.

Musk, "perfume", tangerine zest, and white sandalwood. I wonder what that perfumey perfume smell I smell is so many perfumes actually is. It's like, the most tingly, basic part of most womens perfumes I come across. Fresh but also VERY ...perfumey. I tend to like perfumes that don't have that basic perfume note. I'll have to figure out what it is.

Oh no. This really does smell like rice wine spilled on one's body. Kind of fermented and fresh at the same time, like some kind of cleaning product sprayed on a kitchen floor after a bowl of month-old rice was spilled. No powdery or pretty rice notes in this one--it's mostly astringent alcohol. Not very pleasant.

Is this called "SAKE" or "SA-KÉ"? I thought this was SA-KÉ like a Japanese rice liqueur, but I didn't get that at all. I wasn't even sure what I was smelling. Something fermented? Floral citrus? I had no idea, but It was interesting however. There is nothing else like it. It smells nice for whatever it is.

I love, emphatically love the Sake Dry Oil (even though Fresh gave up the very essential glass pump bottle). So I am quite disappointed that the Sake fragrance smelled nothing like the dry oil. Just an FYI.

a warm sweet scent that will envelope one's senses.. a bit rum like unsure how to describe it love it and wears it to sleep very comforting makes one feel secure..

I generally have loved the fresh scents I've tried. This is not one of them. I tried this ages ago and picked it up again tonight and still... I am not a fan

I love Fresh Sake, it is crisp, citrusy with a very light musk to it but a musk that lingers more on a sweeter side. I love to wear this in the summer!

For me it's too artificial. But the simplicity itself can be charming. It's exactly like a free peach candy you can get it from cheap bistros.

This smelled interesting at first, but dried down to a lot of sandalwood. Not very sophisticated, and does not remind me of sake.

Fresh light citrus, but perhaps too light for me.
