Frida Kahlo Eau de Toilette

Got this last week. Ok.....I got it based on my admiration of the woman/artist Frida Kahlo....and the artsy bottle and packaging.....and the various notes listed in the fragrance. I am very pleased with the scent. It does go back to the "classic" type fragrances...IMHO. The notes are all "in there" at different parts of the wearing. I would say the lily of the valley pops up...then retreats...as do the other floral aspects in this, and IMO, the florals are kinda dusty/dry aromatic...herbal touches. (the lavender?) and ..a tad of underlying sweetness. The rose is spicy dry...not "rosy" per se. There is a certain green vibe going on....like mossy/leafy rather than bright fresh green. The performance is moderate on my skin. I really like the vibe of this scent. Pretty easy to wear, but may not appeal to everyone...due perhaps to it's "bohemian" side....again, IMO. It does "remind me of" some other fragrance, which I cannot pinpoint at the moment. Further wear needed. A very nice blind buy for me.

I absolutely love this. I stumbled upon it at a JCPenney, and I'm so glad I did! Obviously, I am a huge fan of Frida Kahlo, so I was immediately drawn to the color, the statuette, and her image. When I smelled it, it was sweet, kind of earhty and musky and fresh. like you're in an old home at the beach or an old village. I am Lebanese, and it made me think of home <3

First 1-2 seconds I was Ugh!! Blind buy booboo. Too green. Then.....literally second 3 -5 rose- white florals sweeten the citrus. I LOVE IT!!!!! Patchouli in the base. The more I let it develop the more I like it!!!!!

Frida Kahlo wore Shalimar, which I own and love, so I'll stick to that. I wonder what Frida The Communist would think about this.

It's nice, doesn't last long though. Very air freshener type smell. Nothing worth a repeat buy.

Always feel like buying samples of perfume in the summer is a mistake (and yet its one I keep making). This one sat in my mailbox in 90degree heat so I wonder if thats what killed off all the amber and left only a very syrupy rose. I usually spray on a tissue and waft that for a bit to see if I like it and on the tissue its pure Rose Bath Oil thats been left in a bathroom since the 70s. on actual skin its toned down but (my roomie put it best).. ALMOST flowery. So probably nothing I'd wear. Was so excited to see what the base notes and clove/pepper did to this but alas, I get none of it. I will try it in a store one day and see if its truly this bad or if the summer sun killed my sample. In addition the company hasn't responded to questions about whether Fridas' estate okayed this.

Places this reminds me of ; a funeral home, a grandmothers closet, an eccentric gift shop that sells incense. People this reminds me of; a beloved relative who is wise and mature. Emotions it evokes; Nostalgia, Solace, Comfort, Security. Prominent notes; Rose, Lily, Geranium. Overall this is a nice, classic feminine floral that is not going to get many compliments, but also not going to offend anyone. Extremely average fragrance for the 1970’s and 80’s. The patchouli is done exactly the way that I love and is blended perfectly. Doesn’t project, and lasting power is okay. I imagined this is what Frida Kahlo would’ve smelled like, so I have to commend the perfumer.

Smells like a classic floral from the 80's (I think), that has a million floral notes and no hint of sweetness to it. if that style of fragrance is appealing to you, then this is worth trying out. It does not remind me of Shalimar or Tabu, as others have mentioned b/c to me, those are a bit more spicy and ambery whereas this one doesn't smell spicy to me at all, even though there are pepper and clove notes listed. The rose comes out more after a few minutes.

I don't know if I got a bad bottle, but this does not smell good :( To me it smells like a bathroom air freshener/very strong potpourri. I love the bottle, love Frida, but I will not be using it.

Makes me smell like somebody’s abuelita who owns a botánica. EDT so very little lasting power. But I’m a Frida Kahlo Stan so I HAD to buy it ❣️

Got this cheap from Macys. I like it. It’s nothing to brag about, but the more it sits the better it smells.

A spicy violet and geranium fragrance, it does have that doll head smell from childhood. I really like it.

The bottle looks exactly the same shape at Victoria’s Secret Bombshell perfumes
