Beagle

Thus far, my favorite fragrance. What Fueguia has done here is magical. Sillage is excellent and upon spraying you're met with strong a combination of sweet oak mixed with smoke (from the gunpowder) with a very slight hint of metal when you smell it close to the skin. Longevity is at several hours and the strength slowly mellows out to a woody and boozy scent, with the rum emerging as time goes on. Can be worn night or day, male or female. I've worn it throughout the year with lots of compliments received but it does seem to smell a little better when the weather is colder, fall/winter/spring. A little goes a long way and it does stick to your clothing. Ordered directly from Fueguia, excellent customer service. Came in a beautiful, hand-made wooden box, bottle was wrapped in parchment paper and nestled among wood fibers. Amazing attention to detail.

Smashingly made! Gorgeous - Gunpowder with rum on a woody base... smooth ... just that simple. Only let down per se is its slightly weaker in performance that its stable mates but that still makes it better than other brands. Make no mistake - Fueguia is one of the highest quality niche brands with left field (i.e not typical) but not confrontational designs (unlike Imaginary Authors and Zoologist whom try too hard). The fact that some batches sell for more as they improve says a lot. Jacaranda, Basilicum (limited production) and Humbolt are my favourites with no parallel for scent.

All time frag. It's like wearing a story. It leans male, but is unisex enough. Unlike others, I don't have an issue with longevity. Pricey though.

This was a fairly random test for me, as I liked the idea behind it, but caught me on a hook for sure. Initially, my impression was that something about it reminded me very much of Tom Ford's Black Orchid without the patchouli, so seeing other reviewers mention floral notes isn't very surprising. While there seems to be more going on than the simple pyramid suggests, the three notes of oak, rum and gunpowder are definitely eminent. Beagle is woody and boozy, with a slight sulphur like smokiness, that works better than one might think. It is very creamy and the booziness has to me more of a cognac feeling than rum, as while creamy and smooth, this definitely remains woody and never gets particularly sweet and I think contributes to the floral undertones this scent has. While fairly linear, with the gunpowder slowly dissipating, the staying power and projection on this scent have been very impressive for me, which is good because my 30ml bottle was pretty expensive. Makes me think of boats and pirates more than Darwin, of sun aged wood and barrels of alcohol. Worth a try for anyone who likes boozy woody scents or unisex florals like Black Orchid.

I love it how this one starts out sweet and goes toward a more dry and smoky smell while almost all others perfumes I've tried does the opposite. Interesting variation. The top, middle, and base notes are very clear and distinct and according to description. Might be that I also detect some flowery and aquatic notes in the beginning where I would have liked an even more concentrated woodiness but this perfume is still very beautiful and has a nice and strong personality.

A woody slightly boozy fragrance designed as a tribute to the HMS Beagle, that Darwin used in his South America explorations. The scent is mostly about oak wood and mahogany and to this is added an interesting combination of rum and slight metallic notes ( to invoke the feel of the armory used). The masculine leaning scent is mostly sweet and pleasant and has moderate sillage and very good longevity. Recommended for gentlemen who have slight softer sides as well. Enjoy!

It starts with a gentle wood and a sweetness mixed with a fresh/mineral touch in the back. As it dries it becomes more dry and mossy but keeps the warmth. It blends beautifully with my skin. It's strong but very elegant, i would say despite the warmth, it is a bit distant/formal. It reminded me of Chêne by Lutens but made more clean and sober.

I’d purchase a full bottle if it projected and lasted better. Very masculine fragrance, the rum and gunpowder are unique in a way that makes you curious. This is a great summer fragrance but it’s just too intimate.

In my search for a gunpowder fragrance, I had high hopes for Beagle given its fragrance pyramid. Beagle opens with a sour type of scent which isn't citrus-y. It quickly evolves into a clear oak scent. If you've ever worked with oak trim or flooring, you'll recognize the scent immediately. As it dried down, I really didn't notice any rum nor gunpowder. The scent turned into a somewhat oily - machine type of fragrance. The oak was only slightly still there, dominated by the oily-machine smell. There was also a very slight mineral type scent - I suppose that is the gunpowder contribution, but taken as a whole, there was no gunpowder scent. Longevity was only moderate - maybe about 6 hours while projection was nothing exceptional. Overall, the fragrance was a disappointment.

The gunpowder adds an excellent touch. I love the fragrance, not impressed with the longevity. I tested this and 2 hours later it is barely there. Not fbw imo, for €250 it’s terribly overpriced, it only stays with you for an hour or so. Worth checking out maybe if you are interested in the gunpowder note like I was but do not blind buy.

Despite it is said to withold explosives , this is nothing to be dangerous of ! By just reading the notes - oak, rum and gunpowder, these would have kept me from ever trying it, but ohh I'm happy I did. And even if these three notes must be the key ones , this is giving you so much more ! The first burst has such a lovely flower note, it could easaly have stayed some time longer ! This morphs into a dry lovely chocolate note, it seems to me anyway. Well here starts the oak/wood, rum and gunpowder history, where tve sweet rum in the middle stays the longest... The gunpowder is not easy to pick , for me but that lovely subtle liquorise, pavement after rain and musk must be it ! Please join this ship of my dreams- it is a lovely journey of unisex not turning to mailish or strong and even if the pirates and danger is near, it securely sails you through the storm into the sunset. This is more of a skinscent than what I would have thought by just reading the notes! This Argentinian based house did really surprized me - ♡

I just purchased Beagle this past saturday 11-30-13 and the day after I wore it, it didn't smell as good as it did in the store. Maybe I tried too may Fuerguia scents at the same time and got a different smell but yeah. I will say this, the stories behind the scents are exact, they smell exactly like how they are supposed to. It is interesting and has gun powder as one of the ingredients if you look it up. The gun powder and the Oak are very prevalent throughout this fragrance from start to finish. immediately when you spray it, you get the blast of Oak and then right after,about 4 minutes or so in, the Gun Powder is there fighting a battle with the Oak for first place. There is rum in there but it's very slight. I well say this, I believe that this is a cold weather fragrance only because I noticed with heat, the Gun Powder and the Oak together can smell off and annoying a bit.

It’s giving accessible “manly” scent. Has a bit of a sporty aromatic quality along with the woods that make it surprisingly un-challenging. I think the “gunpowder” might be giving it a mineral clean edge that feels almost aquatic. I like it but it is not made in my kind of style

The scent of ship moss, old port, and oak trees. Unfortunately, the performance is disappointing in all of the house's fragrances.
