Biblioteca de Babel

This has been my all time favourite comfort scent since I found it by a fluke in a department store in my country back in 2010 or perhaps 2011. I think it was the first time I ever smelled a niche fragrance and this absolutely mesmerised me and has kept mesmerising me to this day. I bought the bottle right then and there and it cost both an arm and a leg and I was a student at the time so I did not have a lot of money. But I just could not go home without it. I understand this is not the scent for everybody and I’m sure there are more sophisticated woody tobacco like scents. But for me this is absolutely special. And I have tried to figure out what it is that to me is so intoxicating about it. And for sure it’s scent is not the scent of books or even old books per se. But about what good books can do to you and where they can take you. And the magic about this scent is not really about the vanilla background cinnamon either. But to me this has the smell of an intoxicating dream or a fantasy coming from an old book that you have opened in a beautifully lit library that takes you to an adventurous place where nothing is really familiar but everything at the same time still feels comforting and warm and sensual and safe. Like in the arms of a loving father for the first time or sitting under a tree in the sunset watching the slow tide in a country unknown to you. In a way a kind of comfort that can be found in a child that feels safe and surrounded by comforting smells and sounds. And it’s within these images where I sort of find the one thing this woody vannilic scent has that I have not found in any other in a note that I don’t see many people either mention with this scent. But that is so prominent to me. And that is that it has a bit of salty ness over it. A sweetened salty ness like what I imagine salt water taffy melting on an open fire place must smell like. Which to me embodies both the warmth from a summer night with the cosy ness of a night by the fire place with the comfort of a child surrounded by love. And still to this day this is the scent that can calm me down the most and at the same time open up my mind and senses the most. I don’t even need to always wear this scent, I also love to just keep the bottle near by and sniff it when I need a boost of calm and relaxation and a moment to dream away... I hope this scent will live on forever and the only thing I don’t like about it is it’s name as the connotation to the Tower of Babel does not really do this scent justice. It is simply too divine to be connected to Babel... To me this is more a whiff of heaven if anything or at least what I hope the shores of heaven will smell like... 😘

This is one of those fragrances that can excite you! At least for me it is. My mom hates it. Lol. That is the interesting thing about fragrance design. It is an art just like writing or food or traditional oil painting. The art of fragrance design is no different. Biblioteca de Babel was a surprise to me personally. For some reason, it has blown me away. I really really really really like this. And before I put it on, I was judging it and thinking I wasn't going to enjoy the old library style. Boy was I wrong! When you actually get a chance to experience the juice for what it is, it's a stunning surprise because it is more than what is expected. There is a similar tonka bean, cinnamon and lavender aromatic sweetness that occurs in Naxos you may be able to pick up on. I say this just so you can imagine the profile while I describe this further. Sweetness is front and center for me. Surrounding is the mahogany and cedar that provides the fragrance the balance necessary in order to make it wearable. All of this without the patchouli that is almost inevitable in most other brands. Thank God Julian still has a brain. Again, I say this in a sarcastic tone because there are many fragrances I would like very much if it were not for the patchouli base note that seems to be like a filler rather than an intentional placement. I digress. Biblioteca is not forced in any shape or manner. It is beautifully simple and elegant. Julian takes his time and it shows. Edit edit edit. There is nothing here that is unnecessary. Most people don't know it is more difficult to create something that has less than something that has more. The less you have, the more that is exposed, whether it is structure, hierarchy or simply your talent on display. I think this is exceptional and I am upset I was not exposed to this sooner. This entire brand in fact. I'm excited to explore further.

Frankly, Biblioteca de Babel is an insane Borges story to base a perfume off of -- perhaps better would be the 'obverse side' of his piece, "Poema", from 1981: You were asleep. I wake you. The vast morning brings the illusion of a beginning. You had forgotten Virgil. Here are the hexameters. I bring you many things. The four Greek elements: earth, fire, water, air. The single name of a woman. The friendship of the moon. The bright colors of the atlas. Forgetting, which purifies. Memory, which chooses and rediscovers. The habits which help us feel we are immortal. The sphere and the hands that measure elusive time. The fragrance of sandalwood. The doubts that we call, not without some vanity, metaphysics. The curve of the walking stick which the hand anticipates. The taste of grapes and honey. I usually go for much more in-your-face scents, so initially I was not very impressed with this perfume. But, like the poetry of Borges -- for a long time considered unemotional, old-fashioned -- there is a world of beauty to be found in slight sensations, in the "habits which help us feel we are immortal". When considered with carefulness this scent is transportive. You are examining a dusty, clothbound book between towering stacks, and in the aisle over, someone passes you wearing sandalwood perfume. You think of the elements and the moon and hexameters and honey. This is a quiet scent that you wear for yourself, but it's somehow so deep, seductive and tender. It touches you like a poem would.

If there is a fragance that explains perfectly what WARM means, is this one. Not too sweet, not vanilla-ish, not overwhelming. Just perfect. I got a sample and i HAD to use a little bit everyday on the back of my hand to take it with me. I just cant stop smelling it, its really addictive. I find it a very masculine scent. A very elegant and classy masculine scent actually. Upon application you get some spicyness, but not pungent. After a few minutes you get a very cozy, warm and slightly sweet gourmand feeling from the cinnamon, yet not edible, just... inviting. The dry down is INCREDIBLE. You get a more smokey and oriental aspect that had been hidding there all the time but you couldnt just recognize it. If ther is one thing in particular I love about this fragance is its development. Unlike many modern perfumes, its not like a linear photography, but more like an evolving, complex movie. To me it brings images of a very old, victorian library, decorated in bordeaux velvet with a warm subtle light. Smelling of antique wooden furniture, old books, some rhum and oriental spices. Definitely my so far favorite scent from this house (I must say i like this house a lot)

This is such a creamy but clean sandalwood-type of woody scent. Its craftsmanship is impeccable. Don’t be confused by the library title, it doesn’t smell like books nor paper, it’s the most perfect sandalwood-type of scent I’ve ever smelt, even better than Profumum Roma’s Santalum. It’s vibrant and lively from the tangy green cedar with the spices (not in a gherkin/pickle way), but it’s also oh so creamy and soothing, thanks to the Cabreuva wood (a South/Central American mahogany). I don’t get cinnamon, as this is in no way sweet nor gourmand. It’s clean, bubbly soapy and soothing, liked creamed mahogany/sandalwood. My best way to describe it: imagine a creamy white, fine French soap smushed into a soft mush and smeared onto a freshly-cut slab of cedar wood - aromatic perfection! The only downside is the longevity, as it doesn’t last for more than around 5 hours - which makes its £300 price range a considerable factor.

Up until now I didn't think I enjoyed "gourmands." I tested my sister's CK Euphoria earlier today and was so nauseated by the vanilla (still looking for a vanilla that I like). That being said, this is woody-gourmand-- very gingerbread or spice cake as others have said, but it is absolutely intoxicating and I LOVE it. My eyes roll back into my head when I sniff this. One of the wood notes, I think it's the mahogany, when blended with the cinnamon almost turns into an incense that wafts right up towards pineal gland. There is a mustiness too it too that is so hypnotic. My first words were "wow! this smells like history!" Even so, will I wear this? Probably not, As enchanting and timeless as this scent/concept is, I'm not sure it is for me. I could see this on a very intellectual man-- a visiting professor from an exotic, faraway land. Bravo Fueguia 1833!

There are some days where I regret purchasing items from FUEGUIA 1833, and then there are some days, like today, where I am undeniably excited. I would not be here, if it were not for Julian Bedel. I know that to be true. I would not have even come across the name of the author for BIBLIOTECA. It is quite incredible how little I do know. That's when I realize I'm not just purchasing a fragrance. I'm having an experience. I'm learning something new and something I can use from now until eternity. Something worthwhile. And I am grateful for that. Thank you. Sincerely I thank you. One thing I do wish is that the book be translated into English and be readily available at your local Barnes & Noble bookstore. Amazing that this brand is still so under the radar. I purchased Jacaranda and even purchased the 6ml oil bottle for $700 - a rare instance of me paying top dollar - so exceptionally well made and with just 3 dabs a scent bubble that lasts 48 hours. I travelled to their boutique in NYC desperate to try every scent they made. A few stood out as exceptionally unique - Beagle and this... So another small purchase. Amazing sweet syrupy shaved wood - to me it has a port wine accord even as per Liquides Imaginaires though ironically this does it better especially in longevity and Sillage - thanks to the cinnamon. Hats off to Feugeuia - I think another 6ml concentrate purchase is in order.

The most perfect scent created for a professor, this woody beauty immediately takes you to a cozy recliner besides a bookcase lined with the most beautifully bound volumes of books. The main player here is the Cabreuva wood (a type of South and Central American mahogany) which is surrounded by cedar and cinnamon. Also in the mix are faint traces of tobacco and leather making for an unforgettable experience to a library of rare leather bound books. A nice mahogany reclining armchair and perhaps a tobacco pipe. The slight masculine leaning scent has moderate to strong projection and good longevity. Incredibly spare, and infinitely artistic. Enjoy!

I have a couple of descriptions for this: Construction paper drenched in milk and/or a brand new dresser with cedar lining. At times, this smells slightly smokey, slightly java, and a tad bit powdery. This is one of the best fragrances that you will not be able to fully enjoy. Biblioteca is a "nothing burger" in the longevity department. Clocking in at 90 minutes is enough to piss anyone off for sure(especially when something smells as great as this). Is it worth a buy? Not sure. This is at least worth a blind sample. Try it and let the Babel begin....

Loved it. Got teak and mahogany and all sorts of fine old hardwoods, bit of dust and polish, slight shimmer of sweet beeswax and some musty spice, all in the most delicious and discreet way possible. Just smells of pure class and lasts like a champ. Sillage discreet. Organic and natural and doesn't clash or go bitter on my (female) skin. Really very special indeed. Oh Fueguia 1833 - where have you been all my life, why don't you sell in the UK, and why can't I afford all your scents? This slays me.

I am a notorious blind buyer. I passionately love the thrill. Whenever I buy from Luckscent or Nose Paris I will try out samples—something that sounds interesting but isn’t currently on my list. I am at the point of my collection where I can live in the space where an interesting fragrance carries more weight than mass appealing or the typical run of the mill niche houses that everyone is in to. Biblioteca de Babel seemed like a a fantastic idea on paper. After all, jacaranda by Fueguia was amazing, and I enjoy a nice dusty fragrance so I had a lot of high hopes for this one. This was love at first inhale. It was soft but gorgeous. I was thinking this could be a place that I exist in. But let’s be clear—at 2 and a half plus tax almost 300 for a 50 mil bottle, the performance is trash. So much so there is no reason ever to purchase this fragrance. This is not like BR540 or PDM Kalan where I get about 3 hours before going nose blind but at least others can still smell it and if I search for those scents after spraying them I can find those fragrances in the air, on my clothes, on my skin. This is not like FM La Parfume de Therese where it becomes a skin scent before I’m ready. BdB is gone before I can begin to form a real opinion. Not on my skin, not on my clothes, not in the air it is just gone like it was never sprayed. I can live with a fragrance not lasting all day but 30 minutes to an hour is ridiculous. An hour and a half before it’s non existent...COME ON MAN! I’m glad I got this as a “free” sample because I would have been mad to have spent money this.

Starts out with wood and some kind of herb or spice - a medicinal scent, but not sharp. It's not eucalyptus. It might be cinnamon, but it's not as spicy as cinnamon usually seems. The opening is not bright; if anything, I'd call it dusty or melancholy. It leans towards powdery as time goes on, with a soft scent of incense. The wood is all mahogany; I don't pick up on any cedar. The overall impression is of wrapping up in a light but warm blanket, one that's extremely soft - maybe loosely woven cashmere or angora - while sitting in a cushy armchair. I don't actually smell cashmere or anything of animal origin; it's a texture rather than a scent. Projection is minimal on me. Even right after applying the fragrance (a reasonable amount of it, too), I needed to hold my wrist no more than half an arm's length from my nose to detect it. As a skin scent, it lasts about five hours. I enjoyed this one, though not enough to consider a full bottle. The performance is too low, at least with my skin chemistry. If it projected just a bit more, I might wear it regularly. As it is, this would be a nice fragrance to wear to bed, or while spending an evening reading or listening to music.

The first time I tried this scent I thought (as it has already been written by someone before) it did not smell like old libraries at all, that it smelled more like a dark-brown dessert and that it was too sweet for my taste. Months later I started reading Umberto Eco's Foucault's Pendulum, a first edition from 1988 that was gifted to my mom by my dad and has been in our home library since. I immediately thought this book smelled so good - and usually I think old books just smell dusty - but this particular one was addictive. Then I randomly tried Biblioteca de Babel one day and BOOM! it smelled exactly like my Eco's book. It also quite reflects the atmoshphere of the book's plot: old castles with heavy velvet curtains, medieval knights, rooms stuffed with heavy furniture. It is now a sweet smell I like to wear during Winter and that evokes good, though quite weird, memories.

After finishing first sample of this, I'm still confused how I feel about it. It opens soft, very soft, so when I wear it first time I ODd it. Smell very nice, like freshly washed clothes on cider hangers. Within few minutes, however, it turns very potent with heavy projection and sillage. After half an hour cinnamon undertones start arriving, and it turns smelling like wooden table in pastry shop that was just swiped with dirty wet rug. Can't say it too unpleasant, but definitely not great. In 2 hours it morphs into very pleasant scent, but projection and sillage become nowhere close to how they were on previous stage, and gradually it becomes great and truly unique skin scent. At this point I cannot even make my mind if I want to buy second tester. Probably will wait until winter in hope it will performs better, as I attempted to try it in Spring.

Contrary to what some reviews have said, I don't think this smells remotely like old books or antique furniture. To me, "Biblioteca de Babel" smells like a thick, spicy slab of gingerbread, the hard kind that nearly snaps your teeth when you bite it. The sweetness is that of toasted brown sugar, with a dark, peppery cedar accord that gradually becomes more pronounced as the initial burst of cinnamon wears down. I keep getting reminded of the warm, yummy gingerbread tones in "Like This" by Etat Libre d'Orange. However "Biblioteca" is far less nuanced than "Like This" and doesn't develop past it's opening, remaining fairly one note throughout. So even though this is very wearable and unisex, it just doesn't feel complete and isn't worth the price.

This is coming from someone who usually avoids woody scents. I don't actually think it smells altogether like old books. I do think it is gender neutral. It is not at all perfume-y, but rather establishes an atmosphere. I am glad that the mahogany is predominant rather than the cedar. This perfume is very dry. At the outset this scent is almost like wooden planks. The cinnamon is most assuredly the base note, intensifying over the hours. There is a hint of sweetness here, but it really is just the faintest hint. Biblioteca de Babel threatens to be harsh at the outset, but quickly withdraws to a more gentle, yet quirky, spicy skin scent. Definitely worth trying for anyone curious about stepping beyond the mainstream.

I was looking for a Eau De Parfum that encapsulates one of my favorite Head and the Heart Song: I'm drawn to that sorta library magic Whisperin' through the dusty aisles Watchin' all the thinkers read Tryin' to keep a grown mans quiet's like Pulling teeth on a winter's eve Cracks and pulls and unfamiliar roads... This scent captures the smell of an old dusty library with crumbling leather bound books so well. The only issue I have with it is that the one sour note in the perfume that I think aspires to be ink, smells more like weevils. I like it a lot but not necessarily as a wearable perfume. It is very dry and I do not get any of the cinnamon note.

Update: As I said below, this is no library nor is it an antique shop.. This fragrance is however a wood-filled bakery making gingerbread.. I picture something Germanic which is odd considering the ingredients, something blonde and red in the face from too much gingerbread. I also detest most things "Germanic." Two accords: Wood and gingerbread when applied liberally. It's "well done" but nothing to write home about. Again, I still see a honeyed effect going on here that resembles Mechant Loup but that was only after applying a tiny amount. If you go generous with the nozzle or splash you'll find that it's more gingerbread and wood.

I have a beautiful lacquered scent of Caubreva wood, cedar, maybe guajac, patchouli¿ and that sweet cinnamon powder with animalic nuances and that takes me straight to a desk in a leather armchair, brown, worn, warm and disheveled. It could be in an elegant library, with books around and a correct coffee to drink without haste. Simple. He tells me this and does it well. Pleasant, sweet and tasty for a long time. Unisex. More masculine in the opening and more feminine in the drydown.

This is great and very high quality - smoky, woody but also thick, sweet and kind of powdery/dusty and ashy. Great longevity and sillage. Original as well but frankly I do not get the reference to the library and old books, however, it makes me calm, peaceful, relaxed. This is really a great scent. Beautiful. I thought I would not buy the following bottle after finishing the first one last winter. But I guess this is a must, I miss this frag in my wardrobe.

Spicy opening (I got more pepper than cinnamon, but almost like the smell of fresh table saw-cut wood - smokey, metallic, woody). Oh, and then the scent of wood. Warm, antique varnish, with a subtext of leather. It manages to maintain it's warmth without slipping into sweet territory. Scent harmonics. One note soars, combines with another note, retreats, followed by another. Repeat, repeat, repeat. Ever-changing. Lovely.

The notes made me order a sample of this it sounded so wonderful. It just has a vibe I don't care for. Almost gourmand but not really. I feel like it's a non sweet cinnamon powder poured on a raw fresh cut piece of dry wood. It's got a super super dry feeling to it. I've tried wearing it a couple of times now but I just can't do it. I'm sure the house has some other gems but I will not be buying this one

My friend recently brought over some palo santo. Having a cinnamon broom in my home right now and burning the palo santo together instantly reminded me of this fragrance. I'd say it's much more mature than I originally reviewed months back, however I'd still say that the fragrance isn't something I'd wear, rather it's a nice, relaxing, atmospheric piece.

My grandmother owned an antique store for over 40 years and had a personal study filled with old books... This is not a library. The smell does not represent one. This is mechant Loup almost to a fault. I enjoy this more yet enjoy neither. It's honey and maybe even hazelnut.

This is some simple, yet serious perfume, I can see it being inspired by Jorge Luis Borges. If I were to add a scent to the emotion of his literature, it would be this. I find this more on the masculine side and quite attractive. +

It's oddly peppery, given its listed notes. The note list from this site, the note pyramid and brand quote don't match. Note list here: "Top note is Cedar; middle note is Mahogany; base note is Cinnamon." Brand quote here: "It contains notes of cedar, cabreuva and cinnamon. The fragrance contains notes of cassis, ylang-ylang and patchouli." Cabreuva is Cuban Mahogany and I don't know exactly what it should smell like because I haven't smelled it as an EO, but this just smells like Pepperwood. I chose it for the name but it's named after a short story by Borges which is really more about infinite possibility and the human reaction to it as religion than about books, despite being set in a fantastical library.

These are not the woods of the open forest: piney, sappy and balsamic. They are interiorised: soft and subtle, cleansed and oiled, polished and spare. Do not expect an opening "hit" or a tantalising dry down. This is a fairly linear sequence with a faint spasm of something spicy in the tail. There is something rather sterile about this fragrance. If it's a library, it's an empty one: rows of polished desks and shelves full of dead books which may never be opened. Fueguia's fragrances are vastly overpriced and, perhaps, rather hollow - like luxury condos, built for profit, but empty of life.

Very gourmand, it smells like some sort of spiced cake sitting on an old library table rather than the books themselves. Interesting, but not for me.

Cheap synthetic and disgusting. I get a fecal animalic oud that makes this unbearable.

Fuegia 1833’s Biblioteca de Babel is a fragrance inspired by Jorge Luis Borge’s story describing the universe in terms of an infinite library in which books contain every possible combination of letters, spaces and punctuation mark. Everything that has been and will be thought can be found in a forsaken corner of the endless library. Some believe this story is an allegorical meditation on the endeavor to live one’s best possible life in a universe that can seem hopelessly confusing and disordered. I think I had hoped for a bit more mystery with this scent, something reminiscent of clandestine quests for esoteric knowledge, sort of like the film The Ninth Gate bottled as a scent. But with Biblioteca de Babel, what you get is a lot more straightforward and mundane. A cracked and worn leather chair with a threadbare woven blanket tossed over the back, a handmade cedar chest passed down through several generations, the sort of soap you can buy anywhere for less than a dollar, parchment scrawled not in magical inks but rather in the practical strokes of a no. 2 pencil with directions on how to install a washroom faucet. It’s not even parchment, it’s just a crumpled post-it note, thick with dust, the writing so blurry and faded with time you can barely read it anymore, but you know each word as though time has etched them on your heart. Your grandfather has been gone for twelve years now, and he never saw the faucet you eventually installed and you don’t know if he ever read Borge’s story, but you console yourself by thinking that if you had ever conversed with him about it, it might be recorded in an obscure tome tucked away in one of those imaginary rooms. It’s true, Biblioteca de Babel is not a really exciting scent, but it’s warm and familiar, sweet and safe in the way a hug is when you need it most, even when the arms are frail, even when you suspect the weight of your body is the only thing keeping the person hugging you on their feet. I would do anything to feel that hug again. And even though this cedary, sweetly vanillic, woodsy musked scent smells absolutely nothing like my grandfather, it somehow conjures the most beautiful ghost of those hugs. I'll take it.

i'm utterly mesmerised by this scent, purely because it doesn't smell anything like a generic library or bookstore scent- it smells exactly like the beautifully grand old library i use to visit when i was younger. back then i used to wish i could have the scent of that library bottled up, because it was so distinct and calming to me. i finally found it! this fragrance dries down into a very smooth, creamy almost gourmandy scent that reminds me of baked sweets with lots of cardamom, nutmeg, and cinnamon- which i wasn't expecting for a fragrance of the notes that it has! this scent is a living time capsule for me, and i'm still amazed i was able to find anything like it. it feels like fueguia 1833 has reached into my nicest childhood memories and bottled them up in the form of biblioteca de babel. i need to get my hands on a full bottle as soon as possible. personal experience aside- the performance of this is also great. smells beautiful and is never underwhelming or overpowering, and will last you a while if you spray it in the right way. definitely give it a go, but not a blind buy.

Biblioteca de Babel is a nice scent. It is very Fueguia smelling (those familiar with the brand will understand), it has that unmistakable Fueguia 1833 DNA. To me this fragrance feels more like a memory than the actual perfume: a memory of a place that I visit and love. I am happy to have a small amount of this fragrance just for memories and nostalgia. I would have definitely purchase this fragrance in larger bottle if performance would be better on me. Most of fragrances from Fueguia are not strong by any means (on my skin and clothes), but some are stronger performers than others. Unfortunately, Biblioteca de Babel is not one of them. As a scent, this would be great in fall and cool spring. I believe it is a fragrance for yourself, not for others.

Amazing projection and longevity! I fell in love with this after just one sniffing. It's a fairly linear scent that doesn't develop much on the skin. What you smell is what you get. But that in itself is plenty! Slightly sweet but mostly dry smell like dry fragrant grass, old yellowed newspapers, a hint of coffee and pepper and freshly sanded wood furniture. Ahhhh... I like how Danceforjoy described it creating an atmosphere, I think it's a great way to describe this perfume. It doesn't feel like something you would like to wear as a personal perfume but it's wonderful to step into this scent and it makes you want to linger a while and hope it catches in your clothing and so you end up wearing it anyway.

Hugely disappointing. I was looking for either the library/books smell or the spicy gingerbread in a wooden bakery and got neither. I got a wood-forward aggressively loud perfume with powder notes and citrus or something equally bright and shiny. It's so different from what the notes suggest that I wonder if my sample is wrong (though I've never had LuckyScent go wrong on me). And it dried down to baby powder. Not as advertised, not what the other reviewers experienced. Try before buy: it's not a safe blind purchase, especially if you're looking for a book fragrance. You're better off with Demeter's Paperback (get the oil) which is a least the papery gentle vanillic idea of books.

Perfectly gender neutral, woodsy, but not in the way of green, living, sappy trees—this is an old finely-made bookshelf, with a hint of varnish, a whisper of something that might smells like what I imagine to be vellum, and a hint of a spice on the end (not overly identifiable as cinnamon, in my opinion, which keeps this from feeling too much like a holiday scent). This is warm, and feels well-suited to fall. This fragrance evokes a traditional idea of academia. It has minimal projection, I find, but moderate lasting power. I will be tempted to buy a bottle when my sample runs out, though it is pricey. 8/10

The opening of this perfume evokes an old desk, like you're a child that has snuck into one of your parent's "grown-up" work rooms and have peeped into an old desk's drawers. To me, it is less library, and more expensive, antique furniture. This mostly dissipates but lends a slightly medical quality to the fragrance, that is otherwise an enjoyable and accessible woody perfume. The cedar-cinammom combination pairs beautifully and evokes some creaminess. Poor sillage, decent longevity. Pairs well with fabric and catches on the wind.

opens with creamy figgy notes, reminds me of a more refined le labo santal next up i get a big spice note, i want to say cinnamon along with those decadent leathery inky figgy wood notes the creaminess lingers & after 3-4 hours there's an occasional waxy cosmetic note like iris good quality, agree with the reviewer before me that this is an "oily" woody fragrance, 4-5 sprays medium to huge projection that lasts all day

I tried this one again and got cinnamon, Screamwood and a gentle nice vanilla dust note that I do like. It's pleasant even with the screamy wood alcohol note that lasts the whole life of the scent. Ends as a tangy vanilla wood scent. I really like it, but it’s not worth the money for this much screamwood. I can never get away from that rubbing alcohol note in this fragrance. Too bad, the rest is great.

If you've lived in the tropics and have actually handled freshly cut hardwoods like teak would recognize this sappy, oily but sharp wood tone. This is a very authentic recreation, that said it does feel more like an accord than a complete scent.

This is soooo innovative and weird in a good way... The name suits it fine, as it is redolent of a musty old library and yellowish pages... LOvely if you like the smell of old books, though I don't think it is for everbody...

Great scent - can’t believe Vetiver isn’t listed as a note because that’s all I smell with the addition of cinnamon and some citrus on the top. Great comparison point to this is Nishane Sultan Vetiver and Beach Geeza Bay Rum

No old books here. Smells like woody gourmand. Not too sweet cinnamon and vanilla mixed with warm, soft mahogany and cedar. Not too extraordinary, just nice.

The description above says it contains notes of cassis, ylang-ylang and patchouli, so why aren't these picture notes included?

Powdery cinnamon bark with light airy cedar on my skin. Linear and very nice.

Smells like Santal Blush by Tom Ford to me.
