Entre Ríos

Entre Rios is perhaps one of Fueguia's simpler formulations, as it is very citrus forward and fresh. That being said, it has several exotic notes that set it apart from the pack. The perfume pyramid as it is now does not do Entre Rios justice. Lemon and bergamot dominate the opening, soon giving way to green, fresh acacia farnesiana and acacia caven (listed above as mimosa but also known as needlebush). Julian Bedel goes out of his way to include ingredients native to Central and South America whenever possible. South African Buchu leaf adds a mellow herbal note. There is also rosewood in the mix. Despite the "floral" and "powdery" accords listed, I find this to be quite unisex. Entre Rios is straightforward and linear. Longevity is an issue, starting off strong but weakening noticeably over a couple of hours. This could be a result of Fueguia's dedication to natural ingredients, and the light molecules found in this mix. I find that dabbing the skin with argan oil (or even unscented lip balm) before application helps. Entre Rios is rather expensive, but I don't regret purchasing it one bit. The quality of the ingredients is second to none, and the fragrance is at once familiar and exotic.

I had an amazing time visiting the Fueguia 1833 boutique in SoHo. It's a beautiful space filled with an astounding number of fascinating fragrances. Seriously, Julian Bedel's output is remarkable--I think there are something like 60 perfumes in the collection. After circling the table (a few times!) and keeping track of favorites, Entre Rios made the list of ones I wanted to try on my skin. I got a sample and it is really lovely. The notes listed on the website differ from those listed on Fragrantica. Maybe the formulation changed for a new batch? Bergamot, Rosewood, Lemon--these are notes that would lead me to expect a light citrusy scent but what we actually have here is a lovely fresh scent with sincere depth. I get the feeling of green woodsiness but with a mellow roundness, almost akin to honey or wax. This is unique and wearable and is now a contender for a favorite to use on the daily. I've worn the sample three days or so, and it continues to fascinate me. I haven't committed to the full bottle yet, because I want to explore some of the other woody fragrances before making a decision. Highly recommended!

Entre Rios is like a breath of fresh air on a crisp, clear morning. Instantly uplifting and soothing at the same time. Bergamot is dominant in the first 1-2 hours or so, but the lemon is also noticeable, adding a tangy touch to the opening. Fades down to a smooth, almost sweet woody scent lasting 6-7 hours on my skin. Love this!

It actually smells of an old, desolate train station in the countryside...
