Flores Negras

I simply adore this perfume; it might be one of those which you utterly hate or just can't live without. And that, in my view, is awesome. I'm tired of perfumes which have no DNA of their own in a pathetic attempt to please everyone. Generally, my policy for buying a full bottle is "love or nothing", and I have purchased this one. Also, I have to say, this was quite an expensive perfume for me (not in the sense that it's not worth what it costs, but it's actually higher in price than what I can really afford). Only once have I received a compliment on it; I don't know whether people don't get it, it doesn't project a lot or it's just so sexy that no one dares to mention it (my favorite option, since I can't believe otherwise, hahah). Have I ever regretted purchasing it? Not even once, not a single penny. The friends who have paid attention to it described it as "dark", "woody", "sweet smelling" and, that one time, "a piece of wonder". All of them agreed that it smells quality. I agree 100% with the dark smelling thing, deep red or crimson, I would say. I also get wood in the middle notes, but it's not like any wood I've smelled before in perfumery: actually, I think the woody feeling is related to the date listed, its meat and stone, and it makes me fall in love with it again and again. "Sweet", I don't know. Again, it might be sweet, but definitely not in the boring and repetitive way that we women are so used to finding in the perfumes marketed at us (also, all perfumes by Fueguia 1833 are labeled as unisex). More than sweet, I would say it's intoxicating, just like wild flowers and fruits in spring are. And I would add that there is a tart note too. I find it utterly romantic, it plainly makes me fall in love with myself. It's a perfume I wear to dates, not because of the compliments, as you can imagine, but because of how it makes me feel. Also, once I have it on me, I can smell it all the time. Like, A LOT. I don't think it's invasive to other people (if anything, the opposite might be the case), but I just don't buy perfumes if I can't catch whiffs of them on myself throughout the day, and this one is one of the best at that. So, to round up: will you get tons of compliments on this one? Probably not (the best perfumes usually don't, in my experience). Should you give any f***s? Definitely not. I am already saving to buy a new bottle when I finish this one (which will probably be in some years, since you only need a few sprays of it to smell it for hours and hours). Just do yourself a favor and at least sample it.

I personally think that it is acceptable but wouldn't wear it myself. However, it is one of the most unique scents I've ever smelled. I am a perfume enthusiast and tested more than hundreds of scents and I can't find a similar one. There is a sourness/bitterness? probably created by dates and it balances out the sweetness of frangipani. The creation indeed wowed me. Perfumers should create unique frags like this instead of repackaging identical commercial "success".

Dark, tropical, oily, greasy stuff, fermented rose, dates... not very digestible at the start, improves in the drydown.

i got this along with a few other samples with my order of a small bottle of 'xocoatl'; being an australian living in hong kong, fueguia doesn't send to anywhere that is not the U.S. or the E.U., so, as i was in finland recently, i got this sent there and finally got the chance to buy their stuff. anyway, this sample was chosen by me, mostly because of the listed ingredients. with a lot of perfumery, i come out and freely admit that yes, i have NO CLUE about genuine raw ingredients. some things, though, i do know about, and frangipani/plumeria is one of those. i've grown them from seed, taken cuttings and all other manner of horticultural things for over 13 years. i know what they smell like. i've grown them and i've smelt them, i've travelled all over the world to see exclusive gardens etc, so, without sounding arrogant, i know what frangies/plumies smell like. how a plumeria obtusa singapore obtusa smells like a completely different flower to a cindy moragne (both frangie/plumie varieties), and this 'frangi/plumie' component is one of the best i've smelt. i've bought A LOT of samples with plumeria supposedly in it, and almost all miss the mark. this one is passable, and as such enchanting. the dates accord reminds of l'artisan's "al oudh", most likely both use the same raw ingredient, no doubt. this scent requires some multiple wearings to really get your head around. the dates strike an interesting accord with the plumeria, and as such you need to sit with it for a while. a long while. gonna try this one out again and again...

its absolutely incredible how oily it smells. thick, dense, almost fatty, unlike anything I have smelled before. Amouage's Opus VIII has very similar oily feeling, but still, compared to fueguia, that one is super light. apart from pronounced oily base, Flores Negras also has a dense, meaty sweetness of medjool dates and a delicate, beautiful frangipani heart. I dont get any lactonics or rose. signature Fueguia's base is barely noticeable compared to other offerings from the house, although still immediately recognisable.

To my nose this smells like raspberries and liquorice.
