Huemul

An evocative modern woody musk which is meant to evoke the smell of a Patagonian deer. The main player here is the natural extract of the massoia wood, which has a slightly lactonic greenish smell. This is surrounded by grassy notes, synthetic musk and jasmine. The scent is spot on in evoking a deer running among trees in a green forest. The unisex scent has moderate sillage and very good longevity. Beautiful!

From afar this is the most realistic brewed rooibos tea scent I've smelled. period. Huemul captures the herbal facet and the aquatic moisture of tea leaves well. This has a tinge of herbal sweetness. Close-up though the musk can smell too sharp and unrefined, and the experience isn't as pleasant. I don't think this is something I can wear and enjoy smelling all day. Very interesting composition regardless.

Not really a review This is the perfume that grabbed my attention towards Fueguia and that got me keeping making sample orders to try more. It's really not a complicated perfume, to simply put it: it is a lactonic perfume; a musky fragrance with a cold milk note and a dab of sugar. To be fair it reminds me of an asian vegetable too, that presents itself as white, watery and fibrous on the inside. Yes you will get the beautiful Fueguia botanical pheromone feel. Overall I wouldn't recommend it as a blind buy or as a formal fragrance; while there are offerings from the house that are suitable for this I think that the whole line is based on mental associations and the chemistry between human nature and nature itself and such bond constantly remodeled by our past individual legacies. If you like a discreet milk note and are looking at Fueguia for the first time, this is where to start.

A modern, synthetic, woody-musk with (very) subtle floral facets. If you expect something in the same vein as Musk Tonkin or Muscs Koublai Khan, stay well away from Huemul. This fragrance is closer, both in concept and execution, to certain deliveries by Geza Schoen or Le Labo's Another 13. Animalic and musky in the meaning of woodyamber or ambergris as opposed to the fecal aspect of other warmer musk-driven fragrances such as the Lutens or the Parfum D'Empire. Too simple. Rating: 5.5/10

Altogether an aquatic, green, spicy musk of unripe. With a clear coconut milk and fruity sweetness at first it quietly, settles more woody, dense, but still quite sweetish. This is clear, subtle, clean, comforting and present for a long time. With my skin the sour sweetness is amplified, which makes it pleasant. Too much. Too much to get boring. It looks best on clothes. More diurnal, young, shrewd and gaunt.

I want to love Fueguia, but every scent I have tried sits so close to the skin even everyday soap may overwhelm it. Due to Coronavirus the samples I ordered had to be shipped from Italy,living in Oregon this was a long journey. Maybe it is possible the perfume was somehow damaged, but this seems unlikely. Huemul is absent of smell. I showered and used the entire 1ml sample, nothing. 0 out of 10

I tested this blind, and I quite enjoyed it. It had a dynamic opening, with notes of pear, pineapple, and a lovely floral note all happening quite quickly. Milky notes followed, a lactonic fig impression. It dried down with leather and a leathery, vetivery musk. One of the more interesting things I've smelled in my blind testing project for 2018.

Huemul is a green-woody or woody-green plant musk perfume. It is a true skin scent that is super light and ethereal. It is very natural and rather nice. I see it more as a layering base rather than an independent perfume.

I’ve smelled 130 different Fueguia fragrances, and this one ended up being my favorite.
