Jacarandá

As mentioned, the notes listed here on Fragrantica are not correct for Jacaranda... interesting... Bergamot, Patchouli, Cedar, Moss. I find it interesting because the notes listed for Jacaranda on the Fueguia 1833 website lists the notes as, Rosewood, Mahogany, and Spruce, which seems more in line with what I experienced in wearing this fragrance. I wonder if there was a reformulation or something? Anyway, this is a nice woody, aromatic with some excellent wood notes. It starts out with a strong varnished woods presence. It is quite potent, but has been thoroughly enjoyable to me. There is a sweetness along with the varnished wood notes in the opening that makes it different than the varnished smells of D.S. & Durga's Bowmakers. Jacaranda has strong projection for the first few hours. My wife and I went to a basketball game this evening, and she complained that my fragrance was too strong. I disagreed with that assessment, as it smelled wonderful, but she said it had a sweet note she didn't appreciate and it was too strong. I didn't find it too strong, however, I did apply from my sample quite liberally, so perhaps it's best to sample this one in smaller doses than I did tonight. The opening is nice, but the dry down is what I enjoyed the most. It becomes quite coniferous in the dry down and the spruce really ahh..."spruces" thing up quite a bit! It is really nice for someone who loves coniferous notes and fragrances...like me! I was pleasantly surprised by that wonderful dry down. Now I've found another coniferous fragrance that's on my list of must haves! It's so exciting!

I purchased this last year and forgot about it until today, I remember at the time of purchase I spent over an hour smelling all their fragrances and using the coffee beans in between, while the SA tried to lean me more toward the feminine fragrances I kept coming back to this one. It reminded me of a smell from my childhood I couldn’t quite place it but I knew it was a fond memory that was an attached it. Spraying it today I realised it reminded me of my favourite uncle and his love for cars a masculine clean alpha scent. The smell takes me back to those memories when he would bring his latest new car to take us out for a spin in it, he would always be freshly groomed and buzzing with happiness and pride with that new car smell and warm petrol and oil smell. I’m glad I purchased it no regrets at all especially as it’s jogged a happy memory for me. I have nothing to compare it to in my collection and can honestly say as a fragrance it is quite unique. You will either love it or hate it!

Wrong pyramid - this is rosewood, mahogany and spruce. Simply put this is the most true-to-life "sauna" scent I've smelled. My friends who accompanied me sampling at Holt Renfrew Vancouver a few years ago agreed. It's layers of aromatic woods, one on top of another. It's deep but not ambery, more "piney" and can almost strike as "synthetic wooden floor cleanser/varnish" if you apply too much. I find this to be true with all Fueguia 1833 scents in general. I recently obtained a sample vial. When my partner first sniffed the vial he thought it smelled of "cough syrup" - really was just his way of saying how dense the perfume is lol. Today I wore it, and across the room on his gaming chair, the man exclaimed "Wood! Is that you?" :) My point is, just don't overspray and make sure there's ample of room for this perfume to diffuse... you won't be disappointed. Decent sillage and longevity.

This is like getting up close and personal with universal wood—intimately smelling it while admiring its grain, whiffs of varnish that has polished its surface. It could be a red cedar, it could be knotty pine, maybe its cherry or mahogany, spruce or rosewood. Perhaps it could be all of them, an ode to all the sharp and briskly fragrant woods of the world, distilled and lacquered into a polished monolith. The intrigue here is in the overtones of licorice root and sweet balsam that temper the sharp, terpenic pungency of its wooden core. I will agree with others that have smelled this that it evokes dry saunas, mills, carpentry, guitars and violins and such. It is truly satisfying as the ultimate "timber as object" sort of smell—wood that has been cut, carved, molded, and made into something. It is a delight.

This smells like a box of good quality pencils. Love it. Gives me the same art school vibe as the wildly expensive Muskara Boswellia (not on the database) that exactly mimics the turpentine smell when you open an old box of oil paints. What makes it so expensive? Pheromones... so yeah. Gimmickry aside, these two fragrances complement each other very nicely.

To me this is a very unique masterpiece. I love the clean mature woods so much in this scent. I get a licorice smell that transports me back to the late 80s time I spent in Belgium. This is a great dress up fragrance without being formal. Price is high but I fell in love with it. 8 hours on me with slightly over moderate projection. Highly recommend

Jacarandá is the third Fueguia 1833 fragrance I've tried and by far the most interesting and the first I really liked. It opens with a strong tar and turpentine type of scent that's almost bitter and not at all sweet. Over the next 30 minutes as it dries down, Jacarandá begins to lose the edge on the tar and turpentine and transforms into more of a resinous pine scent. Even more surprising, a touch of sweetness also appears, making the overall scent much more wearable. Although classified as unisex, this is without a doubt a masculine fragrance. Thoroughly enjoyable. Projection was on the high end of moderate. Only sprayed this on my hand and did not wear it long enough to judge the longevity. Will have to give Jacarandá another wear to get a better idea. Will update this review at that time.

Lovely scent. It's the smell of newly manufactured classical instruments. Mahogany wood gloss coated with sleek varnish with hints of spruce and creamy rosewood. Bowmakers is similar, but Jacaranda is more refined with much more depth. Still, the problem here is wearability. I can't think of any occasion I'd want to smell like this.

Gone after 3 hours, otherwise a very nice “wood” fragrance. It’s not a fragrance that has “wood notes” or is “woody”, it’s literally the smell of freshly cut wood. Very soothing. Do not make the same mistake I did of buying a full bottle...sample first. I’m very disappointed the performance is so poor. P.S. I’ve mentioned this in another review but I’m actually not very happy with this house, their perfumes on average have poor performance and they also failed to reply to my email. I bought a bottle in store and they don’t give out any samples. I do love the concept (their perfumes are wrapped/boxed so beautifully!), but for how expensive it is overall experience has not been satisfying. Just my opinion.

Initially this fragrance seems harsh, like newly-applied furniture varnish, and then, as it fades, I feel the need to apply another coat of said varnish, because all I can smell is wood. It's an enjoyable woody smell - though polished and artificial, rather than raw and natural, - which paradoxically is spoiled by reapplication ... because I'm back with the turpentine again! Put it another way, this fragrance has a bracing immediate (woody) impact but fades all too soon and there's nothing to sustain it as it does so.

A fresh wood, pine like with a sweet resinous/liquorice undertone. I like the dryness with an almost creamy scent but this is not a standout, at least not on my skin. When it dries, it reminds me of a carpentry workshop but as a fragrance, it lacks complexity.

Close relative of Seis Accordes with a dark rosewood in the foreground, tuned with a citrus top, turpentine,cedar, fixatives and a resinous base. Hard and heavy woody with sometimes disinfected tones. In the drydown it hardens further. Just one...Accordes.

Rosewood, mahogany, spruce. These are the current notes listed by Fueguia for Jacaranda'. An aromatic wood fragrance that causes a turpenic-hypnotic vapor to rise from your skin after application. It's effect is mesmerizing. I could detect the vapor vibrating, evaporating, leaving a strong wood afterglow. The smell is clean, brisk and unusual. This Brazilian Rosewood is known for a beautiful grain pattern. It is very popular in making musical instruments and fine woodwork. I've seen mention of violins in some descriptions of this fragrance, and it reminds me of D.S. & Durga's Bowmakers, a perfume meant to evoke the aroma of rosins and shavings in a shop making violins. Jacaranda' has the same effect, with an equally enthralling smell. The woods in Jacaranda' are more exotic, and there is a sweetness at the core which reminds me of the sugared resin that weeps from the stems of balsam. This perfume is meant as an homage to the mighty tree that blooms with ethereally purple/blue blossoms. Native in Fueguia 1833's Argentina, it's name means 'fragrant'. The combination of it with mahogany and spruce exudes a pungent wood aroma. As if you were sniffing raw splinters flush with rosin, just hacked from the trees. A natural exotic wood experience!

I purchased this online from the Fueguia store in New York as the bottles I sampled at Holt Renfrew in Vancouver were way overpriced. I got to smell nearly every single offering of theirs at the time (and there was a LOT), and although many were amazing unique scents, this particular one was so obviously my favorite it was a hands down win and I knew I had to get it ASAP. I used to work at a Cedar shake mill and LOVED the smell on my work sweater when I would come home, just reeking of freshly cut Cedar. It was a natural perfume I wanted in a bottle, but never found until this. I find most woody scents don't have a dry enough tone like I want, though some sandalwood perfumes get close (Le Labo Santal 33 is fantastic) they are often accompanied by too much sweet and vanilla or spice. If you love the smell of a dry chunk of cedar mixed with a hint of patch and some Bergamont (though I don't think it stands out nearly as much as the Cedar) then look no further... for me at least my search for that scent has finally come to an end.

I get tons of patchouli. The patchouli that I get in Jacaranda are not bright, they are wet and earthy. I also get a mossy nuance with a tiny bit of wood, but the main player, to me, is earthy, wet patchouli. I much prefer other fragrances from Fueguia. The performance is ok: moderate longevity and moderate sillage especially on clothes. A good fragrance to try for the lovers of natural smelling earthy patchouli.

Lacquered dry wood, boozy tones layered over a super rich and sumptuous patchouli. Gets a very realistic and tarry shade of moss as well. Feels like a spiritual brother to bowmakers from ds and Durga but from a natural perspective instead of a synthetic one

It has a strong anise odor and is terpenic. I would describe it as a sesame leaf-like scent. It also smells like cumin, cedarwood, and Cyclacet.

None of these notes are in it now. More like mahogany, sandlewood and either spruce or rosewood.... A very nice woodsy fragrance.
