La Tierra del Rayo

This fragrance is a total work of art, if you’ve been to Mendoza, Argentina specifically inside a winery where they have the huge French oak barrels full of young wine waiting to blossom in to an aromatic and gustatory poem, the semi humid cement aroma that combines with the oak and the wine become one unforgettable soothing scent that once you experience you can never forget. Being a Mendoza native makes the olfactory experience of smelling “La tierra del rayo” a total trip down memory lane. Everyone is going to have a different interpretation of these notes based on their own experiences, and that’s absolutely fine, but to me this particular fragrance depicts a vivid memory of my hometown. Having said that the most prominent note to my nose are the red wine, the oak, some sweet undefined notes, a very soft tobacco that is there to add complexity and not to stand alone. Sillage and longevity are fantastic.

It's gorgeous, long-lasting, unique. Also, it tends to provoke all kinds of associations in people. Be ready to find out that your environment perceives La Tierra del Rayo completely different than you in terms of what the smell is about. Pros: ✅ Such a unique smell! Evocative yet abstract, it challenges your brain, not your nose! To me, it's neither fruits nor vegetables (nor spices), so initially my memory suggested "something in between": Japanese quince. But "wine" 🍷 is also present, for sure. Fiercely persistent, especially on thicker clothing. Cons: ❎ Feels "transparent"; questionable projection; due to its abstract character, the associations evoked by it differ wildly (for example, some get a scorched accord - not me).

I got this bottle sent to an AirBNB place we had in Hameenlinna as it was the ONLY place in Europe I had an address for when I bought the bottle -- it sat waiting a few months for me, and then, during check-in, I was able to claim it! Deep, royal port wine, mixed with a crisp, tart white wood, fragrant tobacco and warm, delicious dried fruits. It's not an everyday scent, but I'm glad I have a small bottle, more than I will likely ever use, but it's part of my collection and really REALLY enjoy using this, or even just sniffing the nozzle. The dried fruits pop up on a few Serge Lutens scents, so they will ring a bell for you, but by and large, it's a very booze-forward, gourmand masterpiece. Definitely recommended...

This is an amazing fragrance. I don't understand the negative reviews. I collect niche frags and have to say that I love this brand. It's expensive, but after buying 3 bottles; La Cautiva, Mbucuruyá and La Tierra del Rayo, I'm smitten. I get different notes than what's listed in the description though. On my skin it opens up with a minty warm wood accord unlike anything I've ever tried. The red wine and fruit notes, (maybe guava or passionfruit?), create a rich woody warm gourmand with just a touch of tobacco that lasts 8-10 hours. It's totally unisex and I'd wear this day or night in all seasons. Update: The brand's website describes the fruit note as being quince.

to me, this is the best release from the house so far. this is inspired on the smell of the barrels that pinot noire wine is aged in, you get a really strong wine-honey-tabacco vibe REALLY GOOD, also it lasts 12+ on my skin
