Malena

It is a fragrance described as musky, in the official catalog of the brand, but that has an herbal aspect, in my opinion. This review will address the Parfum version, tested on the skin. Although unisex, I consider it a little more feminine than masculine, somewhere around 60% by 40%. But, obviously, it depends on numerous factors and does not compromise the fact that it can be shared. Malena is part of the Harmony collection, which treats fragrances created from single accords. It has notes of musk, cassis and Magnolia, respectively, top, heart and base. From the moment it touches the skin, the sensation is green, herbal and refreshing. Looks like we're in a great area of green and well cut grass, those that invite us to lie down and enjoy the sky. In a few moments, I actually thought about the existence of fig leaves in its composition. It's pretty linear and the only noticeable change was after about 1 hour, when the floral nuance of Magnolia emerged. The projection is more behaved, but has a very good durability on the skin. A very nice perfume for warmer weather and sunny days.

A refreshing scent centered around the cassis berry and leaves. The scent opens with musky notes and heads to the central cassis heart, green, fruity, slightly herbal. As the perfume settles one can detect notes of a beautiful magnolia. A perfect hot weather scent, the slightly feminine leaning scent has moderate projection and good longevity. Simple, linear and natural heat relief. Enjoy!

This perfume opens with a somewhat masculine musk. As it develops, it becomes more feminine. The cassis adds an herbal pepper-like aspect to the scent. After about an hour the magnolia blooms, its dewy and fresh. Very lovely perfume although a bit pricey for such a simple composition.

Weird indeed, this one has the usual Fueguia musk base in the background (green, indolic, sandalwoody, steamy, calone-y, wooden barrel/closet) and focuses a lot on that, to the point where it smells almost aquatic. It reminds me, again, of Aqua Magnoliana. A comment below mentions clothes locked in a suitcase and, honestly, I agree with it. Fueguia seems to be recycling a lot of their ideas - especially for their musky florals and fruity offerings - just blasting their signature base into a mix, then adding something extra or reducing an aspect and then calling it a day. Should also mention that their signature base is FAR from being universally pleasant, so if you don't like it you'll probably hate this one. With this brand it's always best to sample/test first before buying a bottle.

I loved this at first because as far as Fueguia goes, this is a more feminine scent and is unique, floral but fresh, and a tad aquatic. However after having my boyfriend smell it, he pointed out that it smells like retirement home and I can't un-smell it! It has a grassy and musky scent that is often characteristic of retirement communities and now I can't wear it without thinking of my dead relatives. So...that's a no for me, I guess. Too bad, because it's a great fragrance. Would work great on someone who hasn't had this memory!

as my gold standard has been #19, but I'm feeling kind of restless and wanting to explore, i've been hanging around neimans and saks trying loads of things that aren't quite right. but today i found what i've been craving. i literally found a sample on the ground where i'd been sweeping right in a sidewalk crack, just waiting for me to pick it up and spray its wonderfulness onto my skin: Jo Malone lemon, basil and mandarin. just gorgeous, the basil does amazing green earthy things to the bright citrus notes and nary a blossom in sight which is fine by me.

fun fact: Malena was inspired by Argentinian tango and the sound of bandoneon (its like accordion, but with buttons instead of piano keys) a feminine fruity-floral; sweet but fresh, almost transparently aquatic. Green cassis and creamy, musky magnolia on a signature fueguia base. Very elegant. p.s. unfortunately, after some time it smells like clothes that have been locked in a suitcase for a while. kind of savory, semi-sweet, semi-fresh, not necessarily unpleasant, but just a really weird scent to be worn as a perfume.

This is a really nice fragrance, right off you get a really tart black currant almost herbal, maybe from the leaf. It develops into a fruity-floral with a clean musk undertone. average longevity and projection.
