Mbucuruyá

I wasn't expecting to love Mbucuruya, but it's turned out to be one of the best fruity fragrances I've ever tried. The milkiness is most noticeable when I first apply it - it's sweet and creamy, a hint caramelized. Condensed milk is what comes to mind. The fruits are definitely what dominate this fragrance though, and they're gorgeously realistic. The juicy, bright, pulpy passionfruit and citrus are evident from the first spray, blooming wonderfully on my skin. Beneath the profusion of tropical fruit is a comforting tea-like, earthy base. Vibrant, delicious and unique, with great sillage and lasting power. It's rare that I find a fruity fragrance I truly enjoy, but this is a standout fruity scent in a fragrance market that seems to be heavily saturated with mediocre fruity-florals. Mbucuruya went immediately onto my want list the first time I tried it.

Very bright, citrusy, realistic passionfruit that starts off a bit green. After a few hours it kind of melds with my skin and becomes more creamy and less sour. Wearing it feels fresh, natural, fun, sunny, youthful. I love it. I have edition XXV and I just ordered XXIV to see if I can detect any differences. Such a cool perfume house, excited to explore more! It’s the most I’ve ever spent per ounce, but I was happy to learn that 40% of profits go towards a local (Argentinian) charity, that they are so meticulous and creative with their extractions and sourcing, and have such a thoughtful and unique vision as a perfume house. It doesn’t feel as arbitrarily overpriced as many luxury or niche brands can be.

I love it so much! It's became one of my number one fav summer scent. Rich milky - creamy but very juicy and fresh tart-sweet tropical heaven. So so uplifting, sparkling and smooth! Holiday like, sweet juicy citrusy fresh, lush and creamy. (Sweet, but perfect choice for summer for gourmand lovers like me, not cloying at all.) It's like they closed in to a bottle the warm and bright tropical sunshine which is melted in to a silky and thick skimmings based tropical coctail.

I'm not sure what they call it exactly, but I got a bottle of the "aged" version of this. It's dated like wine...the one I have is from 2016. This is pure heaven to me. I don't get milk per se, but it's more a creamy, tart, tropical concoction that is not-quite-gourmand. The reference in the review below to parsley is totally understandable because the tartness here is a bit green in nature. Stunning to my nose.

My latest new acquisition. This perfume is a vice. It is a strong presence but pleasant fragrance and is not heavy at all. In the opening and in the dry down can smell patchouli . For the duration of the fragrance (over 12 hours) feel the aroma of dry, sweet, fruit like prunes. Fully recommended. It become my new signature fragrance!!!!

Punchy, oversweet passionfruit somewhat toned down by the creaminess of milk. Despite being borderline cloying, there is something fresh and unexpected about this one, and it's one of my absolute favorites. It's milky, fruity sugar, best worn on sweltering summer days to get the full effect of overripe fruit in the sun.

Mbucuruyá is fascinating. There's something boozy and smoky in the notes that reminds me of a craft passionfruit cocktail with a torched (brûléed) citrus finish. The Passionfruit is thick, syrupy, and sweet. I usually do not like lactonic notes, but the pampa milk note is beautiful and cuts the sharpness of the fruits.

I just got it and love it , if Baccarat Rouge 540 is iconic, this is another line in the same range as BR540. It reminds me Sisha/hookah smell . Absolutely in love. It stays long too. Happy to find this because.

Since I first read about Fueguia (right here on Fragrantica) I was obsessed with this company. I couldn't wait to get one, or two or three! But which ones? So after searching carefully, I decided to get Humboldt and Mbucuruya. I'm a guy, so choosing mbucuruya was a little risky, even though the fragrance is unisex. Well, it opens like a sweet passion fruit marmalade, or smoothie or any other sweet concoction. I'm surprised to not see any "honey", "amber" or "vanilla" as an ingredient, because this is definitely a sweet perfume, I also detect something like 'rum'. You get a lot of passionfruit and a huge dose of sugar too. It's what its name implies, but is it unisex? I have to say no, even though I like it and I would love to wear it, the whole time that I was testing Mbucuruya, I had the feeling that I was wearing a women's fragrance. Just to put it in a simple way, this is an exquisite, unique, with lots of personality fragrance and still a very sweet, sweet, sweet passionfruit.

During a blind testing session, I was really surprised to learn the fragrance was from 2010 — that felt quite bold. It’s basically the forefather of Delina and similar scents — all about tropical fruits. There’s passion fruit in it, and I picked it up as “soda, summer, green stems” — a super cheerful, uplifting scent. Honestly, back in 2010, I’d have given my soul for it. I liked it a lot — but then again, I’m a big fan of this whole olfactory direction. 😊 But to me it doesn’t look like Micalef’s Mango.

For me I'm not getting much of the lactonic notes. This smells like citruses with a touch of tropical fruits and dirty musk. Would not blind buy

I don't know why La Cautiva is in the reminds me of section. They smell NOTHING alike

Brother eeuuughh... I don't like this at all. Gave it an hour but that's more than what I can handle. It smells like am extremely sour, musky, dirty piece of fruit. There's hints of nuts in there as well - probably caused by Fueguia's usual "aged booze-cedar-barell" base. It's very strong, headache-inducing and just doesn't smell nice. I wouldn't want to smell this on anyone, much less myself.

I was so excited to try this based on reviews that I made the mistake of purchasing a full bottle. This smells absolutely awful on me. I just get an overpowering, unpleasant, sickly sweet vanilla caramel scent. Maybe a hint of passion fruit but without the tangyness that makes real passionfruit so good. No citrus, nothing but saccharin condensed milk.

Thanks to Wichapi, I got stuck into this line :)and my wallet will feel the ache of my experiences. This is the second out of four that I have sampled and this is the second one I really cannot do without. I am not much of a gourmand fan. I appreciate them for invoking happy feelings but generally find them too sweet and too simple. However, Fueguia proves that gourmand can rock the mind as well as the emotions. Yes the ingredient list is short and sweet but it doesn't smell short nor too sweet. It starts off as a blast of passion fruit, heady and sweet, unmistakable passionfruit. As it dries down, it becomes this intoxicating smell that entranced me as much as it soothed me...finally my memory triggered, it smelt exactly like the sweet sour powder we Asians like to dip our slices of guava in or the powdered preserved plums that are favoured in South East Asia. This scent coloured my dreams beautifully for two nights in a row. The longevity and sillage are unquestionable even from a tiny sample. This one has hit the want list for sure.

Not pleasant at all on application, but improves substantially over time. Actually, to me, it is quite offensive when first applied - an uneasy competition of sour milk and passionfruit flower. After a few minutes, a marshmallow note comes through, lessening but only slightly, the offensive sour milk smell. After about a half hour, it settles down to a very appealing creamy, marshmallow scent. Quite a drastic transformation, of which the middle and ending I like very much. This was from a sample of 10 EDP Fueguia frags that I ordered from Lucky Scent and it has made it to my purchase list. I will be purchasing the "absolut" concentration, not EDP, from the store in Buenos Aires. I will update the review if this concentration differs from EDP.

I was already a devoted fan of passionfruits (many different Passiflora species) and their products, purées, juices, and jams, ice cream, muffins and pastries flavoured with the pulp, sometimes with the seeds baked in for a light, delectable crunch. However the sweet, tangy, milky-buttery intensity of Mbucuruya's aroma has still basically blown me away. I never thought about it this way before, but a very ripe, concentrated aroma of passionfruit is almost more mango than mango itself. Like mangoes (or peaches?) sauteed in sweet butter. Gourmand scents don't usually make me hungry for what they smell like, but this one does. (That may be a bad thing.,.) No, seriously, ...this was just an incredible gourmand olfactory experience.

The sillage of this perfume is enormous!! We ordered Fueguia's travel sprays with my best friend and she got Mbuquruia as well. She wore it several days when we were together and every time she sprayed it on, I could smell her from the other room. Also - very longlasting - 8-10 hours. A captivating summer scent, a bit similar to Cruz del sur ll, which I own. XXIV edition

rich, faty milk with tropical sweetness. it's a wonderful scent, but it's just *too* sweet for me. the sweetness is borderline sickening, you know? it may actually be the passionfruit here, but by and large, it's just TOO darn sweet. the milk is a nice touch. not enough milk in perfumery these days...

Mbucuruya is not an ordinary fruity floral oriental. On my skin from the very first seconds Mbucuruya smells like sweet crackers. Later on somebody sprinkles fresh green parsley on it. In the base I get a sweet and mild crackers-parsley combo. Unusual, interesting. The staying power is very good.

@alexandrarua You're not going to know if they sell single samples unless you reach out and ask them. I'd pick up the phone and call one of the two Fueguia 1833 boutiques in NYC and ask them directly. You can get the phone numbers in about 10 seconds by just Googling: Fueguia 1833 NYC. Good luck.

Help! Does anyone know the difference in the smell between the 20th edition and 22nd? ...I smelled the 20th but they’re out of stock and only have the 22nd edition. I understand the edition can make a big difference in this brand

This is sooooo strong, i am argentinian and fueguia's scents are cheaper here so i usually get the 100ml. But with this one i got the 30ml, is so strong you wouldn't use a full 100ml bottle in your entire life.

Is anyone willing to sell a little sample? I really want to try this, but I don't think Fueguia sells single samples.
