review from my wife New York (Gabriela Hearst) Fueguia 1833 Vibrant, joyful, stirring—a promising start! Petals of blooming cherry blossoms swirling in a dance around with the wind's gentle touch. Juicy cherry clamped between the lips of a morning dessert. Powdered sugar rising from a sharp spoon touch, sticky maple syrup, a hint of vanilla pod in almond cookies. A sip of black bitter tea from bone-white porcelain. The morning of a new day. Today is when yesterday's experiences can be enriched with something new. Pink lush roses smell tender, delicate, and sweet. Touching a petal feels like touching the silky skin of a person. Elusive soft musks. A just-smoked Virginia tobacco cigarette. And a wooden box, like in Paysandú here. The same freshness of green plants and flowers. The feeling that the first scent carries an even greater load of the city's productive industrial day. After a few hours, the tobacco and cigarette smoke increase, the floral-fruity beginning disappears, giving way to strong golden alcohol, a pinch of black pepper and grated nutmeg, a slice of bitter chocolate, the coolness of the thick night that has descended on the earth. The fragrance evolves from the freshness of early morning to the sultry darkness. And it clings to my "cool" skin similarly. A complex, beautiful story that is interesting to observe and wear. Relatively feminine start, relatively rugged base. Therefore, I recommend trying it for both men and women. P.S. And yes! The marshmallow-pink transition from glossy to matte on the bottle cap suits it very well.

the opening smells like Marvis toothpaste -weirdly sweet & minty. it also smells of raw wood that was left out in heavy rain for days. I don't like the opening tbh. Once it warms up, the sweet, complex pipe tobacco comes in; it’s a sweet, fruity/bubblegummy tobacco, altho it smells very natural. I also get a prominent palo santo & a syrupy, mellow maple vibe; that minty fir stays, too, but it's much quieter now. The longer you wear it, the clearer and cleaner the tobacco becomes. In fact, it gets extremely realistic at one point... if I smelled this in a room, I’d make a comment about someone smoking indoors and ask to open a window:):) falls to dry down within less than 20mins & then just stays there. The tobacco gets more rounded, cast beautifully with creamy sweet florals, very light musks, and sweet vanilla/tonka touches, my fave stage. reminds me of Mugler's Pure Tonka, but a much more natural, polished, upscale version. fun fact: the musks listed here are actually Muskara - a plant-based musk molecule that acts as a scent amplifier; it was engineered by Bedel and is said to interact with our skin pheromones, thus creating a unique fragrance experience for those wearing New York. a true rockstar, this Bedel

This fragrance is honestly a masterpiece. I’m such a fan of this house, and I have the utmost respect for the quality of their work, the materials, the blending, all of it. I took a chance on a blind buy with this one and I’m thrilled to have it in my collection. It really takes you on a full journey from the top through the drydown. The finale is a fruity woody vanilla with a touch of syrupy maple in the most sophisticated and elegant way. It is not a big projector. It stays closer to the skin and lasts a solid 6 plus hours on me. I have no idea why this has a 3. whatever in ratings?! I am seeing mostly wonderful and thoughtful written reviews and this one absolutely deserves them.

Oh this one is so beautiful! It starts out with this strong burst of tobacco and a hint of florals, a little bit of leather and spice, that makes you think of strong but sweet masculinity. But after a half hour or so it mellows into these super bright florals that are so feminine I’d say it might be a /little/ much for a straight man. Normally I’m not so hung up on gendering fragrances (y’all do you, I love me some androgyny) but this one kinda forces your hand. The right charismatic and confident guy could totally pull it off, but I’m more inclined to say this is perfect for a woman with a punch of rambunctious masculine energy. Either way, unique and complex and beautiful!

Woody, boozy, tobacco-y, with a touch of sweetness.. a masterpiece of a creation. Don’t even bother looking at the ratings here - if you’re into any of the aforementioned notes, this is a must try. It exudes elegance and masculinity, and it was an IMMEDIATE love for me when I first tried it at the Fueguia boutique! I’m not sure how readily available this perfume is, because it was sold out in 3 different boutiques that I visited before I was eventually able to find a bottle. It also commands a hefty price tag, so do not blindly buy this without trying first!

Perfect on all fronts, a complete masterpiece and rivals to be my favorite from the Fueguia collection. A wide-appealing, all-encapsulating smokey gourmand. The fruitiness and sweetness here offers a compelling balance with the woodier / smokier notes on the dry down. Could this be a new trend-setting cultural perfume? Quite possibly, unsure if I want it to though, I have been looking for this perfume my entire life. I do not believe in signature scents but this is making me reconsider. I can’t get enough of it.

Straight man here, wearing it daily as my main perfume. :) Fell in love with it by accident, by getting a tester from my perfume dealer when purchasing The Hedonist. From the first moment the jacaranda & fir notes got to me, over opening woodiness and tobacco upon dry down. Absolutely love the complexity, the melancholy and the bohemian energy it brings. My favourite perfume ever. Got a bit scared away when looked up the price for the first time, but eventually I could not resist it and ended up buying it still.

This smells exactly as if you've caught the scent trail of an ancient female deity passing through the fallen leaves in a forrest on a chilly autumn day. I don't know how else to describe it; there's something raw but powerful about this fragrance. New York is a true work of art. I cannot think of a better aromatic woodsy perfume. In echoing the sentiments of the reviews below; this is a masterpiece.

Had to buy this after waiting a few months to see if I still wanted it. Its gorgeous. It meets the price point with its elegance and does something to a sweet boozy tobacco scent that Tom Ford and Initio attempt to but can't do - performs without being cloying. This is masterfully done and I just can't get enough of it. If you're on the fence, buy it.

I am having difficulty describing this fragrance. I have only worn it twice but I find it to be a very pleasant floral, woody scent. There is nothing challenging here. The jacaranda, maple and fir balsam are an interesting combination. I really like this a lot. It could be a love soon

Never been a fan of sweeter scents but New York is a beautiful blend of woody and tobacco notes with a note of vanilla that does not make a scent too sweet. I would describe New York as a very non-offensive gourmand scent that is just beautiful for the upcoming fall/winter season

Fruity, boozy, light but has its weight good enough to balance. A masterpiece!

I checked out this perfume at the Soho Fueguia 1883 NYC location on a recent day out. According to the staff there were two versions of this apparently? But they only had the previous iteration available and I liked it. It was a little pricy and decided not to purchase til maybe I got home and check online if they have the travel size available. ($35 = 5mL vs $415 = 100mL). I was gonna get the smaller size but never checked out. Fast forward to this Thanksgiving holidays and there were so many discounts /sales. Bergdorf carries it and they had $100 off purchase of $400 with Rakuten benefit of money back too 👀! This was an incentive if there ever was one. The perfume I received didn't seem like the one I tried in the store. The scent in itself is very floral + woodsy. When it 1st hits the nose, cherry blossom and woodsy notes like the Palo alto and cedar DEF hits hard. Then the latter notes of rose, vanilla, and tobacco hits next. The scent stayed that way probs for at least 3 hours! It lasted so very long, I love it! As it dried down I think I smell floral and woodsy, smoky coconut jam? Idk why, but it did to me.

I'm confused by the low ratings. This scent is stunning and sophisticated without ever being "too much'. A perfect mix of florals, woodiness, sweetness, and gourmand touches. Encapsulates the essence of autumn perfectly.

I bought this fragrance at the Fueguia 1833 store in Manhattan and I am IN LOVE with it. It's now (in my opinion) the most beautiful smelling perfume in my collection. Even though most of the notes are woody, it's somehow very sweet but not sickeningly sweet. I had my friend smell it and right away she said "my nose is confused, I don't know what I'm smelling!" and I would agree with her, it's hard to place your finger on but it's just beautiful, that's honestly the best way I can describe it. Even though this perfume is very expensive, I would say it's a safe blind buy. I can't see anybody not liking this scent, there is nothing not to like about it. It's just a masterpiece!

This house usually makes perfumes with only a few notes but the scent notes here already is painting a picture of Central Park during the fall months. Sounds interesting.

It's really good... wonderful why does it smell like The Hedonist by Ex nihilo?

Dry down reminds me of BDK tabac rose (vanilla/tobacco)
