Pampa Húmeda

This is wet green like a damp, cool morning in a biome rich with leafy organisms: plant sap, bitter juices, tingling ether. Think dew-dappled blades, oversized fronds, millions of sedges, and tall-eucalyptus camphor. It begins as no easy green in its naturalism, smelling like vegetation that you're not sure you should touch lest your skin is penetrated by prickles, plagued with blisters, or gets inflamed. But the smell entices me, making me dream of days gone by where one could run through tall, imposing grasses without fear of contracting a horrifying tick-borne illness. Wearing this conjures up images of gray clouds, the sound of distant thunder and ebbing rain. The moisture in the air delivers all the aromas: the low-lying juniper, wild herbs ready to be harvested, pregnant with oils, waxy berries floating in pools of rain water. It makes me think of how, in this life of abundance, how spoiled we really are, addicted to comfort and pleasure, when there could be the urgency of living off land, raising food, being locked into all the life that surrounds us, willing to take and give back, not taking any of it for granted, waking up early, just as the sun ruptures from the horizon, to worship it all.

I'm going to go straight into this. I don't want to read want anyone else has said about this because I already know they are wrong. I also don't care what specific notes are in this fragrance. This is all about the intention behind the conception. This is exactly and I mean exactly the smell of concrete after it rains. I have been looking for this for years! Every time I come up with a recommendation, it's not even close. I tried them all. Decided to give up. Today, I purchased several samples from this particular brand and this is the first one I grabbed by chance. Did not have any idea this was even in here. Wow! Thank you thank you thank you. Petrichor has never smelled the real until right now. Do yourself a favor and get this right now. It's like you just walked outside and are standing on your driveway right after a small thunderstorm. This fragrance is 100% natural as all of his others. And it's certainly helps here. Take my advice.

This smell captivated me, a wet damp spicy woody and menthol eucalyptus. It's a really unique scent. Very green, very damp. It smells like a rainforest. Proper tingles when I spray this one. It's quite challenging to wear, but the right polarising person can wear it, and wear it well. That'll be me.

Medicinal greens! Brilliantly quirky, intensely vegetal goodness really showing off Fueguia's gift for conjuring strikingly natural-feeling, realistically botanical notes. Woods and grasses and herbs, that's what they do best and most distinctively and this is a fantastic showcase of how they do it. At first it's so green it practically squelches, bleeding fresh, liquid, sappy notes of crushed grass and leaves, all very dewy and humid and moist (they called it 'humeda' because they really meant it!) Weirdly I thought of just-squashed sections of prickly-pear cactus - and remembered eating nopales in Mexico: it's that sort of very vegetal vibe, positively reeking of chlorophyll and vitamins. But this is way more complex than just a fresh green-grass springlike spritz, because then come a cavalcade of more aromatic things shading to dry and spicy. It MIGHT be just the mix of the eucalyptus, rosemary and 'green' mentioned above, and Fueguia's marketing makes a lot of their minimalist, simple-but-perfect note triads, but I could swear to you I also smelled tangs of artemisia, galbanum, mint, leather and even a bit of something like creosote in there. It does get more prickly later on. So perhaps there's a wider range of herbs in their armory hidden in that 'green notes' category. Smelled to me like a much more biodiverse bouquet, and the sheer herbiness of it might be a little much for some noses. At moments this almost smelled like I'd rolled myself around in a mountain of herbes de Provence (minus lavender) - mint? thyme? even marjoram?) - and was just waiting to be breadcrumbed and gratinated. So if you never ever want to be reminded of food at all in perfume, this one may be difficult. Because while it's all absolutely savoury and never sweet, in a way this is a weird gourmand - just a gourmand that's talking about the salad course not the dessert. So: it's really impressive, authentic, natural-smelling, not at all 'perfumy' but a perfect scent and sense of place. I've never been to the moist pampas of S America so can't say if this is a realistic scent picture of them, but it certainly smells like a realistic scent picture of SOMEWHERE - some open grassland, natural and beautiful. So it reminded me strongly of Olympic Orchids Arizona (aka Tucson) which is no smell-alike but has that same feel. The freshness and greenness here evoked Vuitton Cactus Garden (but without the citrus) and the eucalyptus shaded towards an infinitely more expensive and upscale and organic Bon Parfumeur 701. Probably best for warm to hot temperatures as its green charms might not feel big enough to sustain you in a cooler climate (like getting a cold green salad and nothing else for dinner on an October night in London). But if you love the natural, you eat and smell and always love your greens, and you're quite rich (the price is horrific), this is absolutely a healthy choice. Wouldn't call it 'overpriced' though as it's surprisingly durable, still making itself felt 6-8h in on my skin, though the juicy first phase only goes 2-3 - and it's so distinctive, individual and well made. Plant power! Personally I'd wear it happily any time but only if someone else was buying...

Therapeutic aromatic green scent unlike any other on the market. It opens with green notes of Patagonian grass alcohol. The center contains aromatic notes of rosemary and it settles into a woody camphorous eucalyptus and slight citrus. The feeling is like being in a spa from start to finish. The unisex scent has moderate to strong sillage and very good longevity. Refreshing but not conventional. Enjoy!

Lots vary a lot from one to another. On some you can find sage and thyme, others rosemary,origan... I'm testing one with a fresh wet green opening that reminds me of being in an ivy bush. This quickly turns into a spicy citrus between cajeput, sage and thyme. The latter is clearly distinguishable. Smell simple, strong and similar to other offerings from the house. Like a fortified base, but greener, masculine. Spicy but soft bottom.

I just have to counterbalance: I've been looking for a good camphorous (mentholated feeling) scent for a looong time. This is sheer delight, it put a huge smile on my face instantly. While yes of course it has the eucalyptus menthol feel (a la Vick's Vapor Rub) you can also tell it's a perfume. I get a lovely woody note I haven't yet put my finger on, and a green brightness that to my nose smells like it alternates between grapefruit zest and a very juicy (realistic) green apple. Perhaps the menthol tone is blinding some people's noses to these other notes but trust me, they're there and they're a delight. Also as I applied from my sample, the thickness of the liquid indicated that this has a pretty high concentration of oils in the mix, which is a good sign of quality/lasting. :) #instalove

I don't know if I smell anything but eucalyptus. Very sinus clearing, you could wear Vick's Vapo Rub for much cheaper and get the same effect.
