Yaken

Yaken is a tribute to the Chilean Paramela, a sweet herbal slightly narcotic smelling flower. The central Paramela note is surrounded by a salty animalic ambergris (another spot on recreation of the smell of sea life that’s constantly in the air on the Chilean coast) and the senecio plant ( St John’s Wort) another herbal flowering ragwort common to Chile. No other perfume reminds me as much of my travels in the beautiful country of Chile as this strange utterly indescribable beauty. The unisex scent has moderate sillage and very good longevity. Mysterious, earthy, haunting. Enjoy!

This is a constant surprise. Feminine, with a fruity and tropical opening, then clean floral and sweet ,yellow, and then green, free range... It's like this for about 12 hours on my skin, with pleasant unexpected puffs. Exotic, attractive.

There are many facets to this one, and I had to give it about three tries to even wrap my mind around what I was smelling (not because it's weak - it's quite strong - but because it doesn't quite smell like anything I've tested before.) I haven't ever smelled sideritis or saint john's wort, so I can't say how faithful the fragrance is to these ingredients, but I smell something like pine needles, sap, maybe eucalyptus. Ambergris gives it a definite marine note, but it's realistic, not the artificial kind you'd smell in a cheap blue cologne. Green, woody, medicinal. Reminiscent of the seaside without being fishy - it's almost metallic. Floral notes are hard for me to pick out, but there's a slight sweetness present. I love this conceptually, but it comes off as very masculine on my skin, so it isn't right for me. Nevertheless, I love what Fueguia is doing with unconventional botanical notes, and I'd love to try some of their other offerings (if I can afford to!)

First time trying Fueguia, and must say Yaken lived up to high expectations. The composition is rich, potent and complex. I almost get a sense of Kerosene-complexity, but this is of course something entirely else. I think the reviews below have already painted a fairly good image what this perfume is about. Although, it's of course impossible in only words to say what this is really like. In the best case, words can put you in the right direction of imagination. I would like to supplement with some additional viewpoints, and first of all I would like to emphasize one ord used below – earthy. Do not make the mistake thinking this is your typical sweet, fruity-tropical and carefree summer fragrance. It's not. The composition has something quite heavy, and dense about it. Contributing to a bit of mystery? Yes, I certainly get that too. It has a certain depth, that makes it too strong for higher temperatures. In higher temperatures it will become overwhelming, like a fruity-patchouli Almairac composition – which I love, but are sometimes difficult to use, since they are so strong. However, I think the words herbal, yellow, sweet, fruity, tropical, sweet describes the first impression of this composition. Then comes the earthy, almost patchouli-heavy base. Yaken is both sweet and carefree, and earthy-heavy. Something very potent and strong in the base, which will make it last well throughout the day. The longevity and overall performance is not an issue. You will get noticed, so take care to apply with moderation. Leaning somewhat feminine, but I don't think anyone should care about that. Wear what you like. I love to wear this.

this reminds me of 'mare' by slumberhouse for no other reason that they occupy the same region (roughly). sorta like how if you met someone from uzbekistan you'd mention borat because, hey, they occupy the same region (roughly). green, medicinal and syrupy thick. it smells thick. there are moments when it comes across as 'sweet', and others when it's green. one foot in each category, if you will... if you're familiar with mare, this should remind you of it...

It just smells like tits to me idk I think it’s the ambergris note tbh
