HWY 190

I was curious about this one, but wasn't willing to invest. Ordered a few samples of it, instead, and glad I did. At least for my nose, this one is in no way unique or distinct. In fact, for first impressions, it smells almost identical to Floral Street's Arizona Bloom-- and possibly the dry-down of Commodity's Gold. If I hadn't known what was being sprayed, I would have guessed either of those. All the same, I love Arizona Bloom & Gold, so it's no surprise Hwy 190 is an instant winner for me. A balmy, sweet, woody profile that is fantastic for warm days, maybe even for warm and cooler evenings. BR540? Similar only in the dry down. For my nose, BR is honestly more masculine, with a salty mineral profile. Hwy 190 is sweeter by comparison, and more feminine. The pepper in Hwy 190 is noticeable, and floats around immediately after spritzing— but doesn't last long. The citrus and florals keep the scent balanced. The labdanum and vetiver are like a warm embrace from an old friend you've missed dearly. Just sweet enough from the vanilla, and the slightest salt undertone to retain a unisex profile. Update 9/1/25: This one has grown on me, and it's apparently become much more noticeable. I've had multiple people approach me to tell me how 'amazing' I smell. The scent is still naturally addicting, so I'm becoming more swayed to take the dive on a bottle. Have tested multiple days now, and can safely say this lasts about 4-6 hours. Adequately named; a desert highway where the florals are intensified by solar waves. Soft, but smoldering. I can’t get Fleetwood Mac’s “Dreams” out of my head whenever I wear this. A shame they don’t offer travel sizes. If you’re not willing to dish out the money for this one, I personally recommend the travel sizes of either Commodity’s Gold Expressive or Floral Street’s Arizona Bloom. They may not meet the exact profile for others, but for my nose they do, and they’re more affordable than this one and BR540.

The beautiful resins and oils are doing most of the heavy lifting here, and they are doing some of their best work here in this fragrance. The opening is stunning: all balsamic, sweet, spiced resin that smells like a much more expensive perfume. Absolutely captivating. Unfortunately, that dissipates very quickly on my skin - this left only what I believe was the freesia (and some disappointment) for a few minutes, but which then opened back up to a sandier spiced vetiver. An acceptable result at the end of a weird, short journey, but I was sad that that opening disappeared. On clothing, thankfully, that opening stays with you and surrounds you in a cloud of sticky, slightly sweet resin with a base of warm spices. I can't say I really smell the orange and the vanilla is truly a backup player here supporting everything else. I get some of the comparisons to BR540, but I think this is different enough that people who find BR540 too feminine might enjoy it. I didn't even think to compare until I saw the comment section here. Thinking of comparisons, I think it takes a lot of what I love about Scorpio Rising from Eris and calms it down into something a little tamer. I really like this. Man, what a way for myrrh, labdanum, and cypriol to shine. 8.5/10.

This is my signature scent; I absolutely love it. It reminds me exactly of the imagery F&R uses—a long road trip drive with the open road and all possibilities. Its earthy, woody, warm, with a tiny touch of floral from the freesia and bright sweetness from the orange. After a few hours it mellows into a solidly woody scent with a tiny touch of spice. I find this to be an all day scent, and easily transitions from work to going out. Its very unisex, although I find on me (f) it can bring out a touch more of the floral notes and lean very slightly more feminine

If it’s in my collection, I love the perfume. HWY 190 feels like an exciting drive through Death Valley. The moment I spray it, I get a bright, cheerful scent that instantly lifts my mood. During its dry-down process, the fragrance reveals a warm, inviting richness that feels comforting and grounded. There’s a lovely balance of sweetness and earthiness that keeps me intrigued.This makes me feel adventurous and outdoorsy (I am NOT outdoorsy lol), It’s versatile, elegant, daring, unique and one of my faves.

My paternal grandmother lived in Northern California, in the Central Valley, and smoked cigarettes her entire life. HWY 190 reminds me of standing outside her house at night as a child, frogs croaking in the yard, the smell of juniper and sweet dry grass mingling with the faint scent of cigarettes wafting from the screened patio door. I am not sure this scent would please everyone, but I think it's fantastic.

Chat has lost it in this comment section. There is no rubbing alcohol smell. There is no doctors office smell. Y'all must have the most plebian pallets because this fragrance is beautifully deep. Woody, sweet, spicy, and masculine. Incredibly complex with great sillage and longevity. Its giving aromatic wood and dry air. Desert plants and sun baked stone. Smells like a sexy skater boy from California.

Very airy and light but clings to your body chemistry with excellent projection. I’ve had this bottle for a year it’s incredible stuff. I can see the similarities to bcr it has that cotton candy ish vibe but this is not synthetic and cloying. It’s a unique compliment getter especially for the warm weather. It’s sweet but not gourmand, with that warm earthy woody without being too woody. 10/10

I love this fragrance. This fragrance was recommended by social media star Daniel Rene. The orange citrus and myrrh is so clean that it’s always a first. I get compliments all the time. I don’t get rubbing alcohol. This is a must have fragrance for men and women.

BR540 all day...maybe a touch sweeter. If I want a br540 dupe, I'll get one for less than $200. Smells nice but pricey for it's lack of originality.

As a man I'd sooner wear this than BR540. Yeah they smell similar but HWY 190 is truly unisex—its sweeter too.

That first 10-15 minutes after spraying it is surprisingly VERY savory, almost boozy or bread-y, before settling over time into something a little more floral forward and ethereal. That savory is still there as an undertone, and combined with the slight spice and zest of the myrrh and pepper it honestly makes me think of champagne or something similarly bubbly. It was sort of like going from a dusty middle of nowhere gas station where someone had spilled a six pack on you to a sunlit party somewhere warm and comfortable. It's grown on me quite a bit but I think there are other F&R fragrances that beat it out over time.

Sweet first, woody second. I naturally smell like pepper (and I smoke cigarettes) so I try to get things that compliment that, but I've only had people notice/comment on this scent when I really lay it on, combine it with something, or when they're very close. I honestly find less intense fragrances easier to control (I sneeze around too much perfume) so I enjoyed how it's not overpowering. It's tough to use too much of it. It's kind of like sangria served out of a cedar cup. Could possibly be too sweet if you're looking for something masculine.

Testing. Green woodsy. Like the whole tree with a dry breeze, little pop of fruity floral but very back ground. In dry down the vanilla comes out. Opening is more male, dry down more female so I’m calling this unisex. I think this is a good breezy summer evening scent- outdoors casual More like the western part of HWY190 - going through Springville in the dry summer, lake Success on the left, Seqouia Nevadas on the right . I like this one! Fruity-floral, with a sparkle of pink pepper and a metallic base note that feels somehow metallic or stone-like to me. I do get the echo of BR540 many people have mentioned, but the freesia note makes this distinctly different.

For some reason, this fragrance in particular reminds me of pumpkin patches. It's certainly a summer fragrance, but I have the slightest tinge of autumnal appreciation for it. Pleasantly surprised with its quality.

Opening smells very close to BR540, to me, disappointing since it doesn’t seem to have the lasting that BR540 does. Nothing new here, not outstanding, Not worth it, buy the BR540 instead.

My initial impression of Hwy 190 is that it’s woody, a little smoky, and a little green. It really does trigger my scent memories of camping in Death Valley, which it was inspired by. As it dried down, the creamy vanilla note became more prominent. I was worried about the vanilla becoming too heavy but that wasn’t an issue. I would describe the dried down scent as a slightly smoky/spicy woody warm vanilla. The projection was quite weak. I expected it to grow stronger the way other Fulton & Roark perfumes that I’ve tried did, but it stayed weak. I will acknowledge the possibility that I could be a bit noseblind to vanilla since I’ve been using the Trader Joe’s Ultra Rich Body Wash Oil (the one that’s a Sol de Janeiro dupe) and that has a vanilla orchid scent. The longevity was not great either. After just a couple hours, I couldn’t smell it on me at all. Again, it’s possible I’m just noseblind to vanilla. Overall, this is a “won’t buy again” from me. I really liked this scent when I first sprayed it on. To me, it smelled unique and really did remind me of Death Valley. Even so, it didn’t feel on-brand for me personally. The dried down scent was really generic, and the quality of the perfume in terms of projection and longevity wasn’t great, especially given the price tag of a full bottle.

I bought the deodorant version of this so I can only speak for that. One time while wearing this scent I got road rage so bad that I drove someone else off the highway. This scent is pungent. It makes me angry. I wont lift my arms anymore. At first I was getting Hollister model with some notes of incense. It wants to be expensive but it feels pretty cheap and synthetic smelling. My dad used to wear Curve Crush, its like a cheap version of that. It’s unmistakably masculine. it’s pretty difficult for me to get any vetiver, vanilla or floral notes even after it dries down. HWY 190 reminds me of the kind of guy who’s gonna bring you back to his studio in the Burg, light an incense, show you his record collection, and leave you feeling empty at the end of the night. Definitely not reminiscent of Death Valley. Maybe he visited Death Valley once when he was 15 and wants to tell you all about it? Sometimes I’ll be wearing this deodorant while I’m sleeping and it will reek so bad it wakes me up at night. I really hope all the other lines from this company aren’t this dreadful... Stay tuned though, I might play the fool and keep testing them out.

Hello all... I tested Hwy 190. I agree that the first few minutes it smells just like you rubbed your skin with isopropyl alcohol. That scent did die down within just a few minutes to the point I do not detect that scent. The overall scent profile is not very strong after the alcohol smell dissipation. The scent did have an outdoorsy type of feel. Especially if on a road trip with the windows down. After 30 minutes I barely smell anything on me. I personally would not buy a full bottle since the staying power does not seem good for me. If anybody else does want to try, I recommend purchasing a sample if possible. Again, I warn you you may smell strong isopropyl alcohol at the very beginning.

This is one of the scents I liked best in my 5-piece Fulton & Roark discovery set, but it doesn't bring anything new to the table. I agree with others in that it reminds me A LOT of BR 540 and it's many dupes on the market. HWY 190 is just woodier than most but still very pleasant and solidly unisex. I'll opt to stick with Jasmine and Cedarwood by Sand + Fog when I want a more affordable version of this fragrance profile though.

Got this as part of a sample box. The marketing for this is way off; there is not one bit of this scent that is evocative of desert air. It smells fresh, very citrus and myrrh forward. My first thought when I smelled it was that it smelled like the Catholic church I went to with my parents as a kid.

Not bad. I got this in a sample pack. I don’t love it, but I don’t dislike it either. I’m indifferent I guess. I wouldn’t be buying a full bottle. It’s a nice scent to wear to go to bed I think.

BR540 dupe if that's your thing

in reading the comments here, I had to double take - am I smelling the same scent? Yes, it is HWY 190 from the FR sample pack, but I don't get any of the notes indicated. On my skin i get a blast of hand sanitizer alcohol. which then fades to something along the lines of dentist chair plastic. after 20 minutes i can detect the most faint hint of amber peeking out from under the chair. the good news for me is that this is altogether nearly undetectable after 30 minutes. this one was not for me.

This is a "cool cousin" to Baccarat Rouge 540, which similarly does not mix with my skin chemistry at all, but if you like 540 or Ariana Grande Cloud you'll likely enjoy this scent.

It's okay! Nothing ground breaking and a steep $200 price tag... There is better out there for WAY cheaper and longer lasting... 4/10

Got this in a sample pack, and hated it so much I came to warn others, but on reading the other reviews I’m wondering if there are just bad batches going around. What I got is so overwhelmingly alcohol, there’s no room for anything else. I let my fiancée smell it and he said it smells like a cologne that guys with huge gold chains wear to the gym. I’m afraid I have to concur. It smells so cheap & synthetic and the sillage is STRONG. I was hoping it was just the initial scent, but after 30 minutes I’m still not getting anything other than alcohol. If I stop by a department store that carries it, I’ll be sure to update because this almost feels like a practical joke and I hope not every bottle smells like this...

Horrible. Smells like the strongest Isopropyl alcohol concentration available. Like the kind they use to sterilize hospital equipment. Painful experience, never again.

One of an innumerable amount of BR540 clones with an added note of freesia? Unfortunately adds nothing to this overused formula and smells low quality.

Hell yeah. Just got this in today and here I am giving it a review. Right off the bat, yes, it's a baccarat type of fragrance right in the opening. It's about 90% or more similar in the opening. But it dries with a woody accord that is not present in baccarat and for that I love this one so much more. Baccarat is a very nice fragrance- but it's too feminine for me, so when I learned that the extrait was more masculine, I bought it but was let down because the extrait is the same as the edp, but just not as loud aka less projection (the trade off you get for a higher concentration). HWY 190 fixes that problem. It truly is the "more masculine" baccarat. Price is crazy though. Thank god I shop on the great market amongst a handful of trusted sellers/resellers.

This fragrance is so beautiful. This is a gorgeous blend of woods and florals with a touch of spice. Although it is unisex it has such powerful dark feminine energy! Whenever I smell this I picture Salma Hayek in “From Dusk Til Dawn” dancing on the table with a snake around her neck! This is a beautiful scent for date nights. I understand why it is compared to BR 540 but this is much darker, it is spicier and even more of those woody notes shine. I would say they are only 40% similar. The lasting power on this is eternal and it develops so beautifully into the skin hours into wear. It creates a beautiful spillage as well!

Dry and woody with a touch of sweetness from the myrrh and vanilla. The orange and floral adds just enough brightness where it doesn't feel heavy. Feels like a cozy sweater fragrance on date night. Makes you want to lean in. Inoffensive and easy to wear.

@Bananapeel you're calling people "plebians" but you don't know the difference between a pallet and someone's palate? It's "giving" juvenile. Learn your seventh grade vocabulary before you start acting like the god-emperor of fragrance analysis.
