Haunted Rose

This is one of the most well-done rose scents I've come across. The black pepper & saffron & ambroxan so beautifully accompany the rose. The rose is so realistic and gorgeous (as you should expect since that's the brand's MO). Upon initial spray, I fell in love and as it dried down I knew that I needed a full bottle! It reminds me of the best times in my life and the dry down is sexy. It is such a must-have rose for rose lovers or even if you're weary of roses. I need a FB.

I love this perfume so much! It made me fall in love with rose scented perfumes in a whole new way - I first had the purse sized tester from my subscription service, and loved it so much I invested in a bottle. The rose is sultry & sexy, and the saffron smells medicinal and hints at something dangerous just beneath the surface... put the two together, and there’s a hint of blood beneath the sweetness of the rose that really evokes vampires and all things nocturnal. 🖤💋🥀

The only downside of this fragrance to me is that it's inedible. I truly wish I could drink it. It is so many things at once - quenching, delicious, jammy yet slightly aquatic, warmed, pretty yet mature. As someone who grew up loving Lush's Rose Jam, this feels like a proper step to me. This is one of my absolute favorite roses, ever. Wearing this instantly puts me in a better mood and I admire the impressive longevity / sillage for such a pretty and spectral scent.

Haunted Rose just might be my new signature scent- this is so lovely! It's a very jammy rose with a beautiful dry down. You get all of the warmth from the sandalwood/ambroxen combo. I adore it! I put it on at 7am this morning and I can still smell it on my skin and my clothes at 1pm. I have a feeling that it's going to last the majority of my work day. Initial spray is very realistic rose and then settles into a sweet sort of vanilla-rose. So good!

Haunting, indeed. But depending on who wears it, this one might haunt the wrong way. From the cap, I get a warm, almost vanillic, peppery rose note, which is strangely alluring. The unique smoke and spice take this floral to a new level-- but there's naturally a catch, and it comes with the application. For me, I'm swooning until I apply to my wrists-- then, there's a jarring 5-10 minutes of the sensation I've transformed into a 70's-style wood shelf in a smoker's living room, and they've placed some kind of potpourri on top to mask the smell for guests. Is it worth it? For myself, it is polarizing. But I understand where others would find this either too powerful, or simply unenjoyable. It really is an acquired taste-- one that doesn't seem office-friendly, unless you're keen on making a specific statement. So far, I've yet to wear this one out. It is spritzed purely for the experience. I am wearing it as I write. There's a twang of something I definitely do not like enough to feel confident in wearing it around others. But as the scent continues to bloom, the vanillic, peppery amber that follows in the base is enough to keep me coming back for extra sniffs. This is where Haunted Rose is truly special and lovingly appreciated. Highly curious to see how this one macerates. Seasonality and time of day? I'm honestly not sure. For my nose, the spice and florals take on a life of their own. Trying to imagine someone other than myself wearing this and noticing them... It seems like more of an evening fragrance, late spring-- a quiet garden party. A bit masculine leaning, personally. But the fragrance is always half the composition-- it's the personality that shapes it. Update: I had a chance to see what someone else thought of this. "Strong. Like the inside of a brand new suitcase." I couldn't stop laughing. Maybe this is the perfect businessman's secret weapon for high-end meetings. It actually seems more fitting that way. Everyone's skin chemistry is different. If you're patient and love unique rose blends, this one will not disappoint, though it might have its drawbacks depending on its wearer. Definitely not blind-buy safe, and personally recommended to apply well before leaving the house, as it's strongest on the opening and lasts most of the day.

Leathery, Rosy, Slightly Spicy, Bittersweet, Creamy Smells like a steampunk Queen of Hearts writing in a leather bound journal by moonlight in the middle of her rose garden in June. You need to love florals and specifically rose to love this one as the rose note is present from first spray to dry down. I like that this presentation of rose is neither very lemony or powdery. There is a faint powdery-ness to it, but is more of a woody soapy presentation of rose, which is my personal preferred version. This scent is very dynamic and morphs from first spray to dry down. I notice the citrus notes in the bottle but upon first spray I get a heavy waft of leathery, spicy, earthy saffron and of course rose. As it morphs the heart is all fresh, bittersweet, woody, soapy rose, and finally by the end of the day you have a beautiful creamy vanilla scent from the sandalwood (sandalwood often leans creamy vanilla on my skin type). This scent makes me feel sensual, romantic, feminine, and slightly rebellious (think rockabilly pin-up girl on a date). Like this one a lot! It is at least travel-size worthy to me (if FS sold one) if not full bottle worthy. Sillage: 5/5 Projection: 5/5 Longevity: 5/5 Scent: 4/5 Leans feminine

Whoa this one is heady in a way that Carnal Flower was for me. Epinette has done so many great scents and had fun with this one. Creamy spicy rose with many notes I cannot discern, but I imagine some amazing hidden club with incredible music smelling like this, the scent being piped in with the smoke machine. I am one of the thousands who would say I am not a fan of rose, because maybe we were taught at a certain age that rose is for mature women only, but this is so creative. Maybe it's the leather, another note I would claim not to like, but you really should smell this and easily can if you just order a shower gel from this site in any fragrance. They will give you 2 large free samples, and you will be hoping one is this one (my other favorite is Floating Forest, a dewy figgy woody soft green). I will definitely be getting the shower gel in Haunted Rose and will consider the EDP.

To preface this review, I’m a small (tiny really) business owner and I make scented soy candles to sell mostly online (luningtonlabs, named after my beloved departed dog Luna Bedlington). I’ve liked some of Jerome Epinette’s compositions in the past. For my upcoming birthday a dear friend gifted me the Future Society discovery set and I’ve been testing out a scent each day. Upon smelling Haunted Rose I immediately knew I’ve smelled this before, and it’s actually my own creation in soy candle named “Rock n Rose”! The inspiration is “a little floral and a little rock n roll”. Of course it’s rose and leather, very literal there, but I also have pink peppercorn, patchouli, labdanum & vanilla in the note in my candle scent profile. I’m just so pleasantly surprised that something I cooked up in my own home studio could smell so much like a creation by a perfumer I admire!

If melancholy gave birth to a Rose it would be this fragrance. This is a truly beast mode Rose scent. It's incredibly creamy but almost in a sad spilt cream way. I think this would be a lovely goth girl spring scent. I am very picky about Rose fragrances. My favorite still being the bottle I cherish of Stella McCartney. And where as that is a soft creamy rose with vibrance, this is similar but melancholic (and no peony). The sillage and longevity is truly incredible. The first day when I sprayed it in the box I wasn't sure I'd like it. But every time I entered the room the box was in I was struck with a wall of roses. Not a safe blind buy, but absolutely worth the sniff if you want a deeper gothic rose for spring.

Another beautiful fragrance from Future Society. I’d describe this as Oud Satin moods fun younger sister. The sandalwood plays nicely with the rose giving it a creamy almost powdery smell. The passion fruit manages to still keep it fresh. Just a really well balanced and night time any season fragrance. The longevity is unbeatable especially at this price point.

A mysterious blend of something alien yet simultaneously nostalgic. It's a kind of nostalgia I can’t quite place. I wonder if I had an old toy or something as a kid that carried a similar smell. Curiously, it's both challenging and deeply comforting; although it leans more into comfort than other things I've smelled from this house.

Candied fruity rose, light and inviting. Reminds me of Turkish rose ice cream or rose flavored Turkish delight. Not at all spicy or dark on me, but in general saffron is light and refreshing on me. Smells very different on different people!

A sweet rose with a woody base. The saffron and pepper give it an edge. Yes there is a nostalgic vibe here, but one that never turns fully gloomy. It's a like, but not a love.

Something that would be released by Montale in a vein of intense cafe.

Personal: 6/10 - It's interesting, but I'd never wear it. Rose is a bit too bold. Mass appeal: 6.5/10 - It's a dark, woody rose. Not a crowd pleaser. Performance: 6.5/10 - IT's solid. Lasts fine for something so floral. Value: 5/10 - Indie pricing for something polarizing. Admirable craft, but you gotta LOVE it to justify it. Uniqueness: 8/10 - It definitely isn't a generic rose perfume. Dark, moody, and experimental. I gotta give credit where it's due. SCORE: 64/100 Full bottle buy? NO, too polarizing for me, and not wearable enough. Blind buy? NO, dark rose is divisive, and this isn't cheap. Recommend? YES, but only if you want a dark, gothic, moody rose vibe. Date night? YES, I think the right person could pull this off as dark and seductive. I can't though lol. Office safe? NO, too dark and unconventional for the boardroom. Pros: Unique, moody, goth, chic, and atmospheric. It's rose with real character. Cons: Too experimental for frequent wear. Not mass appealing, and steeply priced for what it is. This feels like a gothic cathedral mixed with a setting sun over a rose garden. It's dark, moody, experimental, and sets a vibe. It's not wearable to me, but to the right person it is. This is perfect for any females who follow a gothic aesthetic, and enjoy something mysterious. I really respect it for what it is, but it isn't for me. It smells like roses blooming in a graveyard. A sweet rose, certainly not haunted. This fragrance basically smells like a Turkish Delight and reminds me of a TF Rose Da'Amalfi. But it's not as sophisticated and more linear. Girly, youthful, and for tea parties. This is another fragrance (frankly, most of them) that comes down to skin chemistry. Always try before you buy, folks! I get the barest hint of something gasoline adjacent that must be from the saffron. But it alternates between that and rose candy. Not getting whatever notes others are detecting like wood or lilies. It lasted all day and was very consistently Turkish Delight after the wobbly beginning.

You really need to love florals, especially roses, to appreciate this one, as it's present from the first spray to the dry down. Compared to Oud Satin Mood, everything here feels toned down, but it still carries that same luxurious base. To me, this smells like a darker, more mysterious rose, perfect for someone in their twenties who wants a touch of dark-academia elegance. I'd describe it as the fun, younger sister of Oud Satin Mood. The rose itself feels sultry and a little seductive, while the saffron adds a lovely spiced dimension.

Creamy and decaying rose. Definitely divisive. I like it conceptually but not something I would want to wear. Reading another review, I do smell the burning rubber scent when on skin. Think this would be a nice pick for a femme biker or femme leather jacket wearing type.

Moody rose! Never experienced a smoky/fire rose. Green facets. Passionfruit creates a juiciness. Despite its natural balance, this is too obvious as a fragrance, and too loud.

This rose is definitely haunted. Dusty, almost like a graveyard. Yet somehow fruity at the same time.
