Corpse Reviver

I'm just getting camphor and cocoa, i.e. fresh herbaceous cocoa. It's really unique and fun, but it's hard to say if I'd ever wear this. The camphor thankfully calms down after 30 minutes or so but, for better or worse, it's present throughout the life of the fragrance. I don't think it's much like Slumberhouse Ore (besides the cocoa), which is smokier and puts more of an emphasis on woods. If you're looking for something similar to Ore, Ummagumma (which I love and wear all the time) is closer. Edit: This grew on me and I ended up getting it. I likely won't wear it often but it's an interesting invigorating gourmand that I'll enjoy from time to time.

Dark chocolate, booze, and then an eternal sweet-ish powdery dry down. A very slight aromatics edge keeps it out of diabetes territory. I also get whiffs of dried fruits, like raisins, barely there, and a deep richness that i can't tease individual notes from. I'm looking for the anise, an all time favorite note, but i can't pick it out. Civet always reads as powdery to me, i smell nothing fecal here. It's definitely a strange, twisted gourmand and i'm here for it. This one feels good. Unique enough to be interesting, but not weird or off-putting. My husband loved the sample on me so much that he ordered a bottle as a surprise gift!

If you had the opportunity to try the very limited collaboration between Bruno Fazzolari and Antonio Gardoni, Cadavre Exquis, and kicked yourself for not nabbing a bottle during the small window when you could have, fear not. Corpse Reviver is definitely a nod to Cadavre Exquis, though there's more of Bruno's aesthetic in his solo work. It's got herbal notes, dried fruit, boozy and a little animalic; a bit gourmand with the vanilla, dark chocolate, and caramel though I don't know that I think of this fragrance when I think of gourmands. I missed Cadavre Exquis. I'm not missing Corpse Reviver.

The initial presentation is a burst of citrus that settles quickly into a liquored-up chocolate. As the heart starts to come through, it becomes more nostalgic. Memories of antique stores and working deep in the archives of a museum. Vintage clothes, books that haven't been opened in decades, dust, cobblestone streets, black and white films... On paper, it stays chocolatey. On my skin, the civet comes through very strongly. Going back to the paper a few days later it smells like sweet maple syrup. This scent is a journey and, as one who has an affinity for history, it is a journey I love.

Missed out on Cadavre Exquis so jumped at the chance to buy this one and i'm so glad I did. Corpse reviver is great,it's pretty loud,heavy & almost 'sticky' with insane performance....you really need to go easy with the sprayer! I love it, but those around you might not -someone commented that they kept smelling something like curry around me...it was corpse reviver! Although not listed I'm getting an immortelle note here,there's a spicy maple-syrupy thing going on for sure. Big 👍s up.

Ooohhhh myyyyy Lord !!!!!!!!!! Just received this as a FB as Corpse Reviver... My goodness... reminiscent of Baque et al from Slumberhouse. Chocolate cake with a Booziness. A touch of liquor cherries. After thirty minutes a slight Animalic leather asserts itself. A proper Blackforest Cake - Schwarzwalde Torte! Ignore the over analysed reviews. Nuff said - exquisite scent, killer performance

My first association was black coffee with chili pepper. I was blindly testing this scent and it literally punched me in the face, but in a good way :) Super potent, dark and spicy but with a nice gourmand base. Follow me on IG: scent.guide

i was put off trying this for a while because the notes made it seem like it’d be sweet and gourmand, however its anything but that. its like an evil dark pumpkin spice latte, halloween in a bottle. i cant get enough of it!!!!!!!!

Sampling one of the latest two releases from Bruno Fazzolari / Fzotic, Corpse Reviver (the other being Zdravetz), a complex, creative perfume whose standout notes on me are camphor, whiskey, and chocolate: It’s dark, boozy, rich, somewhat sweet, and also loaded with camphor and woody, herbal undertones via some of the other notes. Like Ummagumma, it has the rich sweet complexity of a Slumberhouse fragrance. I saw someone make a comparison to Slumberhouse Baque, specifically, and that is a sound analogy for the mix of liquor and stewed fruits that is common to both fragrances, though I prefer Corpse Reviver’s overall character, which, at least on my skin, is a bit more interesting (with the chocolate, especially), than Baque, one of the few Slumberhouse offerings I’ve bought and re-sold. The performance is strong, what I’ve typically come to expect of Bruno’s work and choice in ingredients, compositions. Available through the Fzotic website and through boutique sites like Luckyscent and Twisted Lily, Corpse Reviver is priced at $145 for 50ml, slightly higher than most of the line, but in line with the previous Luckyscent exclusive, Fontevraud. I’m not sure it’s a fragrance I would wear often so I’ll have to give it some more time but I quite like Corpse Reviver. 7 out of 10

Corpse Reviver has a gorgeous open that features a dense, dark chocolate encased in a cloud of gossamer animalics. The chocolate evaporates within 5 minutes though, making way for a sludgy syrupy mash of fermenting dried fruit that carries the sharp edge of alcohol. After another 30 minutes the final stage of the perfume arrives, a kitchen spice melange of curry-like sweaty herbs and cooking aromas that really permeates the air around the wearer and lasts for hours. . It reminds me of the food court dry down of Santal Blush, and for me, that’s not a good thing. I do detect anise, which I enjoy, but there’s more.. and it smells like curry, cumin, and fenugreek. So, I adore the chocolate bit, like the stewed fruits bit, and was embarrassed by the cooking odors base and dry down as that’s not how I want to smell out in public. I’ll have to give this perfume an OK and that’s purely on the merits of the first half hour.

Picked this up after basically sniffing everything in sight in Chicago (thank you for your patience sales person). I got more funky, animalic, alcoholic-amber out of it than I do chocolate, and would never guess this chocolate per se. It does have a funkiness that not everyone will gravitate to, and maybe even off-putting to some, but I find it fitting for me, and probably just as fitting for an ornery, pissed-off gothy-witch, who may just likes the name. It does have a tude that suggests you're going out, somewhere, interesting, maybe a cemetery, but a darkly lit bar, or dark comedy, or seeing Rocky Horror yet again would be more fitting.

This one took me a while to get used to. I blind bought it for myself as a christmas gift (as one does) and was a bit disappointed at first. I started out by layering it with a light amber and/or a deep tuberose to balance to the richness of the dark chocolate but slowly became more equipped to smelling like a full on Parisian chocolaterie. Its strong on first whiff but allures you to smell deeper. The slight hint of dried berries and grapefruit levels the intensity of the almost roasted dark chocolate. This would be beautiful with a warm tonka scent as a layer.

FZOTIC may be my favorite niche house. Every sample of theirs I get I find myself sniffing over and over. My wife revolted at Corpse Reviver. Claimed she could still smell it even when my hands were washed and the sample was closed and in a different room. I wait for the day she leaves for a trip so I can wear it. My uneducated nose smells Tang powder. Not sweet, but citrus, almost like you are just smelling pith. An aspect that almost makes my brain think 'urine' but not quite.

I'm a huge fan of Bruno Fazzolari's fragrances. I have a full bottle of almost every fragrance he has produced. This is the only one I am sticking to a few samples. The sweetness is what I get most. At first it reminds of me pfeffernüsse cookies. I have been wearing if for about 8 hours. It is powerful and have had nice smells from it all day. It is definitely related to Cadavre Exquis, but I remember a lot more of the animal/civet in Cadavre Exquis.

Funky, boozy, dark chocolate and bitter orange peel. It makes me think of those chocolates filled with liqueur and chocolate-covered raisins. It has an odd fenugreek, syrupy type smell, but it's not offensive. This fragrance is also quite warm and woody. It's a bit too masculine on me, and I think it would be better suited for someone else. It's definitely a unique fragrance that will make you stand out.

Smells like you're somewhere expensive for the winter holidays. Prominent chocolate and whiskey but not overtly gourmand given the woody background. Unisex but leans masculine. A more interesting take on this type of scent profile than others I've tried.

It’s giving Jaffa Cake, which I normally can’t stand... but it’s just so fun and fruity! Chocolate and orange are definitely the top notes for me, but I can definitely smell the whiskey now I know it’s there.

It's deep, it's good at keeping a secret, it may win J'Accuse every time. There's a comforting holiday feel, reminiscent of Lush's Yog Nog. Whiskey and Neosporin soothe this morning's ski-disaster.

Very very aromatic and boozy in my opinion. Wish it had a little more chocolate scent on the dry-down to balance it out. Somehow very sweet but also not sweet at all? Interesting to say the least.

Interesting. Gourmand-like with some spice notes. Starts off a bit too sweet for my taste, but the sweetness quickly mellows and is ultimately balanced out nicely by the dry, spicy facets.

This smells like a really well done Halloween candle. There’s a bit of a animalic aspect in the drydown but it’s completely safe. A really nice Halloween themed gourmand.

Delicious! The same smoky gourmand vibe as Ummagumma that’s so addictive! I can’t stop sniffing my wrist OMG!

The base is a nice-quality, very delish powder/spice/musk, but the top notes are a no for me. Too chaotic. Excellent longevity.

Ok, I am wearing a sample now, so here are my first impressions. So far, it reminds me of Arabie by Serge Lutens which features dried fruit, clove, and dates. Maybe a bit too gourmand for me, but not bad - just not what I want to smell like. With a name like "Corpse Reviver", I expected something more like "Pomegranate Noir" or, at least, something with more camphor or eucalyptus. Overall, nothing special. And that's one of the problems with such a shocking name, the fragrance must live up to it. And if it doesn't, it comes across as just another pretentious wannabe. :-O

🪲 I wanted to like this perfume but there is... something intrinsically wrong with what im smelling. 🪲 it smells like the dirty diaper of an alcoholic who's been binge eating old dried fruits. theres a slight sweetness but truly it smells like overpowering urine. the smell of eating chocolate covered raisins soaked in cat pee. 🪲 I hate reviewing perfumes negatively but this one was so genuinely unpleasant that I feel sick.

I received a sample of this from Lucky Scent with a FB purchase of something else. The name intrigued and sort of scared me--and I love dark scents. Here, my fears were well-founded. This stuff just plain stinks. I don't get dark chocolate (which I adore) or much else that's pleasant. It smells of rot and booze, followed by rank animal hide. Roadkill hit by a drunk driver. No thanks, not what I want to smell like.

Loud scented candle vibes. There's something juvenile about Its composition as though the goal was "let's do ALL the ideas." While not entirely unpleasant in small doses, it's trying too hard, overly sweet and overwhelming. Fzotic offers lovely sample sets. Definitely not a safe blind buy.

I wanted to love this; I really did. Unfortunately, as soon as it hit my skin all I could smell was maple syrup. I haaaaate maple syrup. I waited a couple hours to see if that would change but nope. The maple syrup smell lingered for days, despite many attempts at removing it. Bummer.

very strange. expecting chocolate bc i saw it in the chocolate section of Scentbar. idk what to do say, but it's 5 different smells you can't put ur name on thrown together at once. sour? whisky-colored.

The Indian herbal hair oil my mother used to force on me, drying down to eau de lice shampoo. Not for me.

The aspirational aesthetic for me in this perfume is “elegant haunted convalescence” in a 60+ year old skilled nursing facility located in rural America. Here are the "notes" that immediately come to mind. lemon quaternary ammonium disinfectant; pressed linen; violet talc; incontinence supply closet; rear of the commercial kitchen food pantry; said commercial kitchen back of the house including docking area; medication cart chrome; carnations in decline; sugar-free lemon candies; hand lotion; and whispered nurse shift change at 6:45 a.m. This isn’t just a scrubber. This is a Silkwood emergency response protocol with a handle. Less ‘gentle exfoliation,’ more ‘prepare to be stripped down to factory settings’ in the corner of the room. Here comes the fire hose. I like stank. I'll layer Alessandro Gualtieri's Cuoium with Anubis AND 1740. The gods as my witnesses, this is not stank. This is what happens when hygiene becomes more of a suggestion than a practice. This is San Pedro Street in Los Angeles on the hottest day of the year.

Minty Hot Chocolate with something tart hiding in the corner. Once the whiskey crept in, it just seemed to be unpleasantly sour. Picture an old apartment building with carpeted halls that have decades of stains and smells engrained into them, but management deodorizes them with some maple syrupy chemicals... or a home trying to cover pet odors with chocolate dessert candles. You will smile politely while visiting these places and leave with the scent stuck in your nostrils for the next hour or two. It's an experience, but I don't want it on my skin. Interesting to test though.

Unfortunately a disaster. Stewed fruits with whiskey, chocolate and civet. The camphor and pine cannot overcome the nauseating decaying smell which I guess will make you smell like a revived corpse. The type of scent to wear to shock and repel. Almost unwearable. But some may enjoy the art here. Sorry not me.

I have never smelled a perfume that turned my stomach like this did. Sickly sweet with a nauseating boozy underside. Cloying, harsh. Unbelievable sillage. More corpse than cocktail.

LICORICE BOMB. Salty, salmiakki licorice- not the fake rubbery nonsense at movie theaters. This delectable treacle delight opens big with the licorice and French oakwood - syrupy, resinous, sweet like maple syrup and projected 30 feet away. My husband could smell me enter the dining room from 2 rooms away on a couch. Albeit, I had just applied this after a very hot shower because it’s freaking cold outside so it steamed off me in a delicious cloud of scent. That was 4 hours ago and now the dry down is barely a hint of anise, more chocolate, caramel, and woody notes blended smoothly with a hint of spice. Sillage is still medium, a nice respectable amount that doesn’t require reapplication despite my urge to revisit that salty licorice opening. Definitely worth a full bottle for me. Definitely. Thank you, Bruno! A sheer delight that perfectly dances that line between art and gourmand parfum.

It smells like coffee/cocoa powder. (Just like the picture of the cake on the bottle). It's almost close to Ore by Slumberhouse too (in terms of evolution on the skin); Both perfumes have a pleasant and surprising opening with a stylish cocoa accord, but their drydown doesn't appeal to me and the cocoa disappears. "Like" because of the realistic smell of cocoa "Dislike" because of its drydown and also that sweet and cheap base, which continues until the end. کلی بخوایم بگیم بوی پودر کاکائو/قهوه که روی کیک خامه ای میریزن میده یه شباهتاییم به عطر اُرِ سلامبرهاوس داره. هر دو عطر شروع دلچسب و سوپرایزکننده ای دارن اما تو پایانشون بوی شکلاتی/کاکائویی کمرنگ میشه و یجورایی رایحه بی مزه میشه. لایک به خاطر بوی واقع گرایانه کاکائو دیسلایک بخاطر اون بیس شیرین و مصنوعیش که تا آخر ادامه داره و همچنین با دوام نبودن رایحه کاکائو

The opening is very much like a rich, gourmet bar of orange-infused dark chocolate, but it also resembles that wonderful coffee drink known as a Caffe Borgia, made like a chocolate mocha, but flavoured with orange zest. ...and of course, the titular corpse reviver is actually a sweet, citrus-aromatic cocktail, ...that has nothing to do with Frankenstein, bodysnatching, or any other horror tropes, despite some suggestive marketing to the contrary. Later in the drydown, the tune changes markedly, with an unlisted, maple-like note of fenugreek, tinged with anise and other herbs. Also, if I am getting any civet, it's staying politely subliminal within the darkness of the chocolate.

Corpse Reviver is named after a well known hangover cure cocktail from the 20's. I adore this scent! I received a sample pack with a Christmas gift of Mon Serrat (also a great scent). I have used most of my sample of Corpse Reviver in just under a day. To me, it shares some dna with Volutes by Diptyque, but with an added syrupy boozy layer, which is wearing well on this boxing day evening. It also could be compared to one of my favorites: Aomassai by Pierre Guillaume, but a bit smokier. The dry down a hour after spraying is quite mellow and easy to wear. A winner, for sure from this fabulous perfumer!!

Absolutely insane. On me, like a giant, sticky chocolate cake plopped on top of a beavery fecal soil accord. Frosting melting off into the pile, impossible to tell now which brown is which brown. As if compelled by psychosis, someone comes along later to stuff it all into a crocodile Birkin they spilled Lagavulin in roughly sixty years prior. I don’t want to smell like this but I’m still very glad to smell it. Fazzolari’s a nut job, and my life’s better for it.

This smells the way desi snacks do when you open the bag -- there's a lentil flour element about this -- it is UTTERLY wild -- I love this scent, but I struggle to wear it. I like smelling it, but I don't think I could wear it, if I'm being entirely honest. Dry chocolate, dry booze and dry fenugreek -- that's what I'm getting. Some bleached woods, too, but mostly this is a gourmand Indian snack food smell. I can't believe I'm the only one who thinks so...!

That is a Tootsie Roll, wearing rosary beads. It's the end of service, and everyone is trying to give you a hug. I don't know, man. I don't hate it, but I'm conflicted. It smells like raisins and chocolate at the bottom of a church lady's purse. I don't think this is bad, but has so much going on. Like, so much. My nose is confused. I hate to say this but it has a hint of piss to me, like sweet, diabetic urine, It's faint, but I can't entirely ignore it.

I WAS SO EXCITED to try this!! The chocolate and caramel are TO DIE FOR! There is a maple syrup "overall" as it wears on. However, it's a masculine gourmand/atmospheric, so I wouldn't grab a full size. Very fun tho! (and if the rest of my sample wears more unisex/fem, I would NOT hesitate to grab a full size) Edit- If you feel like me, try Ummagumma. I think CR was sweeter/more gourmand, but Umma is def unisex, and wearable.

Thoughts of a sampling... * It’s a gourmand. * Very caramel like. * With maple syrup. * And a sweet whiskey. * Similar to flavored coffee creamers from the gas station. * There is nothing corpse reviving about it. * Wish I could try “Cadavre Exquis” the original version of this as it probably had a more potent animalic to counter balance the sweetness. ** Final thought... “I’ll take my coffee black, no cream or sugar please”

this one is a trip and a half... it starts off with a bitter, non-dairy chocolate hit alongside the boozy, acidic whiskey. it's a killer combo, but it changes really quickly. dries down to a gourmand indian savoury crisp kinda smell, like besan bhuja snacks or something similar. i'm not sure how that accord is struck, but it's a monumental change, for sure... gotta try this again, just to be sure...

This is my new jam. Dark chocolate, Chocolate, prunes simmered in whiskey long enough for the alcohol to burn off and just leave an amazing wood barrel aged taste. The camphor for me reads as bay leaf with the rosemary, and civet underneath it all to pin it down. Great longevity. Gourmand without the sugar.

Damn that civet is stanky. I shouldn't have put this on for work coz I smell like I melted sultana chocolate on my body on a whisky bender and had a homeless man and his dog lick it off my nips. It is loud juice too, I am defintely wide awake with the olfactory punch in the face from this.

straight up butterscotch hard candies with a weird, gloomy, dour note hanging in the background that i can't quite make sense of or fully capture!! an interesting one for sure but i can't really imagine anyone wearing it

Lol...this quite possibly could wake the dead. What with Chocolate and whiskey, civet and camphor, anise and marigold! Such a kooky combo! But, hey, that's the fun of niche perfumery...anything goes! ✨
