Galone

Easily my favorite gourmand perfume of all time. It's just amazing how they blended sesame, caramel, and spices. I was told multiple times I smelled like I just made sesame balls (lol). The galone is seen as a deity of protection, guidance and leadership, and galone is a very comforting, relaxing smell, especially for a gourmand. It's strong and long lasting, but not cloying or harsh at all. It doesn't change too much throughout wearing, but I do notice it gets slightly nuttier and muskier as it dries down. Expensive, but I'd say it's definitely worth it solely due to this being a modern masterpiece in gourmand perfume.

Blind bought a full bottle and I love it. Smoky, nutty, with caramel that smells slightly burnt. SO says it reminds him of Raid bug spray- there is a note that smells burnt, but it reminds me more of ashes of volcanic rock. (He doesn’t like any kind of scent whatsoever and has never worn a single perfume in his life so his opinion is irrelevant, LOL). I like it a lot but definitely sample first.

Smells just like bánh cam (hope I’m spelling that right!), which my partner’s mom makes for us when I visit. :) It’s very sweet and has a super realistic sesame note, with maybe a hint of cooked rice in there too? There’s also this warm, slightly greasy aroma, but in a really comforting, delicious way. And like the rest of the series, the projection and longevity are intense.

This is the sesame fragrance I've been waiting to find! I've smelled a number of fragrance that have sesame in them, but this is the first one where I really smell the sesame. It's magnificent. Smells like those sesame brittle candies. So delicious, makes you want to eat it. Mad love for this. My small sample vial will not be enough.

Real notes: Top: Sesame and Nutmeg Absolute Heart: Smoked Nuts and Volcanic Caramel Base: Sandalwood, Vetiver and Golden Musk Now this is strange as this smells like coffee and not the affordable instant kind which smells like burnt popcorn to me for some reason. Just really nice coffee. Would layer this with a milky scent which is why I'm not giving this a 😍 but if you like coffee scents then you'll like this!

Galone opened in a way that honestly confused me at first. The very initial spray had a powdery quality that made me nervous because it briefly reminded me of the same “old powder” effect I’ve experienced with several other fragrances lately. Thankfully, that phase dissipated fairly quickly and the fragrance transformed into something much darker and more atmospheric. Despite the note pyramid listing Sichuan pepper prominently, I never actually detected a distinct pepper note on my skin. Instead, the fragrance rapidly evolved into what I can only describe as “volcanic caramel” — which, after smelling it, suddenly makes perfect sense as a description. This is not a creamy salted caramel fragrance at all. The caramel note itself was surprisingly fleeting, lasting maybe thirty minutes before fading into the background. What remained was a deeply roasted, nutty accord dominated by sesame. On my skin, the sesame completely overtook the composition and transformed the fragrance into something much drier and toastier than expected. Instead of smelling edible or dessert-like, it smelled more like roasted nuts warmed over dark mineral heat. The fragrance also became significantly sharper as it developed. Once the caramel disappeared, I was mostly left with an ambery roasted nuttiness that felt more atmospheric than gourmand. I kept waiting for sweetness to return — maybe through dates or a softer caramelized accord — but it never really happened. I think this perfume will appeal much more to people who enjoy savory gourmands, toasted sesame, and darker roasted compositions. But if you’re specifically looking for a lush salted caramel scent, this probably is not it. On my skin, Galone became less “dessert” and more “charred sesame confection.”

I would personally crown this as THE quintessential sesame scent. I'm the furthest thing from a gourmand lover, but this execution is commendable. It is definitely very very sweet due to the caramel, but the light pepperiness and borderline savory sesame notes make this a dream-like "salted dessert" concoction.
