Bambou Trefle

After a bracing blast of lemon this modestly priced Galimard offering settles into a linear sea of greenness. Very nice too, and with longevity (all working day on me) which belies it's designation as a "cologne" even if an absolue. So if you're into pure greenery in spring and summer (think crushed leaves and stems in a florist) this could be for you. It's grown on me and I wear it more with the passing years.

This is, to me, a sharp and sour-bitter green that I have to be in the mood to wear. I got a travel-size decant of this to try but will never buy it full size; I don't like it enough at this point to wear it regularly. I should have known by looking at the notes how linear it would be, it doesn't go through much of a transformation and smells basically the same from beginning to end. There's something about the sourness of it that bothers me at times, like bringing back a memory of a place I was that I didn't want to be, or something. I think when you wear a perfume, it should be a pleasant experience and make you feel good; this one does the opposite for me. On the plus side, it is long lasting, and I like it better after I've worn it for around 6 hours and the sourness has faded by then, however I don't think it's worth the wait.
