Bois de Lune

I get a sweet, woody and fruity iris, unisex and warm with a good projection. The lavender is more clean than aromatic on me, and the sandalwood is smooth, comforting.

Hard pass for me on this one. I can’t even define what it smells like, it’s a mess of woodiness and fruits and a sort of cloying, musty scent. Like dusty potpourri that’s been sitting in the bathroom of a cabin for a couple of years. It’s almost inconceivable to me that this was released in 2019, it feels so out of place.

I had the same problem as the reviewer, alex6863, directly below; the samples are packaged in tinfoil and it is terrible idea. Initially I thought it was a towelette, but when I carefully opened the foil the fluid went flying out. All over me, my clothes and my computer. It would be less bothersome if I liked the scent, but Bois de Lune smells like rubber and fruit. And gunpowder. I waited an hour thinking the opening notes would change—that didn’t happen. Galimard is new to me brand, I hope this is the perfume outlier. Bois de Lune is a very rare hate vote from me.

Bois de Lune comes as an EdT, EdP and as a parfum. My review is for the EdP concentration. This was a confusing one to me. I ordered the sample set from Galimard’s website that, while affordable, comes in the most ridiculous packing I’ve ever had to deal with. You get a sachet filled with 1 ml of EDP, and I guess they just want you to dump all that on your wrist. It makes zero sense. Anyway, I cut off the corner of the sachet, intending to apply what I would consider a normal amount and... failed miserably. I ended up drenching my wrist with at least half a ml. You’d think after that I would have smelled like a walking perfume store, but I was honestly struggling to smell anything. I just got a faint candy-like sweetness with a hint of wood. That’s the best I can do to describe Bois de Lune. It seems extremely generic to me, and the sillage leaves a lot to be desired. I wouldn’t go out of my way to get this, you’re not missing out on a mind blowing experience. Easy pass.

Can't help thinking how unfair some of these reviews are! I agree that putting perfume into sachets is a ridiculous idea, but Galimard isn't a desigber fragrance from huge perfume company. But what Galimard is, is an old, family run perfume company. And whilst some of their fragrances compete with niche prices, some don't and they don't focus on packaging. As much as they do with making the fragrances themselves and I like that. This is a lovely aromatic and long lasting fragrance, that I bought when I smelled it, in the Galimard brochure and for days and days it lingered in my home and I kept wondering what was this beautifully, haunting smell I kept smelling. From the notes you woukd think that this was going to be sweet, fruity or fresh because of the sweet, apple and pear notes. But it isn't. Its very grown up and uniquely, unisex. None of the notes are independent of the other and I like that. As its very well blended.
