Gallagher Fragrances - CARPÉ CAFÉ Vacation w/ french Press columbian coffee ☕♨️ I really love the smell of coffee yet only a few coffee-based fragrances captivate my heart like this one. Carpe Café is a very pungent and rich smelling coffee dominant fumes with magical power to transport the wearer to a chill vacation setting. A very powerful and spesific olfactory journey that always put my mind at ease and relaxing state. Which why I prefer to wear it on weekend occasion. The list of notes displayed the bottle are overly understated and too simple compared to what it delivers imo. Coffee aficionados who smell will definitely appreciate the richness from the multiple layers it brings to the palate. It's like enjoying the finest Columbian coffee beans using French Press to extract pure, strong and fullest aroma with utmost smoothness. The comforting vanilla blend with a hint of its natural sweetness create a contrasting balance countering the strong and pungent coffee notes. Imagine sitting at a small coffee shop in a town with almost no car where the air is free from pollution. There is this vivid woody and piney smells of trees whispering gently in the wind while sipping the hot served coffee. On the initial spray there is a strong spicy kick that makes it masculine leaning in my opinion. But if one can enjoy such a similar profile in their drinks I guess it's for everyone who love spicy gourmand drinks. A perfect one to wear in cold weather for its heart-warming effect. I find Carpe Café as one of the best work in perfumery highlighting coffee up-front and centered without being plain or too one dimensional. For a comparison it has a similar profile with Rubini Tambour Sacre which is highly complex too but perhaps can be overly challenging to worn in many situations. Carpe Café however bridged the two end perfectly in the middle. If you want to soften the masculine side just add your favorite floral fragrance and hopefully you find it as lovely as or even better than the infamous Montale Intense Cafe. This smells like coffee in the morning during a camping trip. The coffee note comes on a bit strong at first and may seem a bit synthetic, but give it a half-hour, and the coffee subsides to a far more pleasant strength while a very well-rounded, natural fir note takes center stage. I wanted to try this for the coffee, but I ended up loving it for the impression of crisp mountain air. This may fall on the more male side of unisex, but I'm a female who deeply loves coffee and hiking so I will wear it happily. A little goes a long way and lasts all day. Gallagher Fragrances does not struggle with longevity issues.

It smell like coffee. A lot of coffee. It covers almost all the other notes, which is not a bad thing, because it keeps a nice dark mysterious aura around the person who wears it. I can't smell any of the two middle notes, because my skin chemistry reacts well with woody notes, and they become present very soon after applying. You can't wear this in a professional context. It's meant for a night out in a place that's loud and smells like booze, whether you're a lady or a gentleman. Sample before you buy, as it's not a fragrance that's easy to wear.

I believe i saved the best for last!! Wow.... just unbelievably overwhelming blend! That coffee mingled with that blood-sharp myrrh and sharp fir is just perfect! The coffee is slightly sweetened. That labdanum is mixed with sweet dark amber that gives the boost of dark sweet coffee. This is my favorite of the ones i have tried so far, and amusing take on coffee. Brilliant.

Honored to have a full bottle of this. I'm not HUGE on coffee fragrances, however this one is blended perfectly! The vanilla really tones the coffee down and makes it so cozy warm. Top tier fragrance! Too bad it's discontinued

The essence of sweet coffee, somewhat like a candy from a box of chocolates. Refreshing, sweet, and pronounced. The scent is distinct but not overpowering. Long-lasting. With the potential for niche perfumes.

A beautiful nutty coffee in the opening with a vineyard green halo. I really enjoy this fragrance!

As I'm a specialty coffee blogger (ile_klikow on Instagram, feel welcome to have a look ;) ) when I saw a 'Colombian Coffee' note I went both intrigued, and amused. The top is definitely coffee but more a sweet, cappuccino, mocca kind of way, not ground Colombian high quality coffee (no flowery, orange or anything of this kind of notes). Underneath a pretty realistic, bus still sweet approach to coffee there is some kind of fir or cypress, but it's still a backbone as these perfumes are all about warm, sweet, woody, chocolaty coffee. The vanilla, amber, and sandalwood bring additional creamy, woody, sweet, wam aspects to the profile. I mean, if you want to smell like a sweet, warm, inviting coffeeshop that's your pick - the cypress and fir serve as a background and it never really goes into a mountain-y woods territory. Beware though, this is concentrated. Not only it's oily on my hand, it stains everything brown. Don't try using it on white t-shirts. An absolute unisex, warm, inviting. Best for autumn, winter, day, night, especially dates and cozy evening situations. Not a heavy projector, but leaves a nice sillage. Will last you a day, but nothing post-shower 12h+ crazy kind of stuff.

Beautiful. The opening is a blast of coffee and sweet French vanilla, with a certain chemical vibe for about a minute. Then the chemical wears off and this coffee vanilla with hints of cypress and pine is the dominant scent for another 30 min. Smells fantastic, and not very Gourmand-y to my surprise. Then the Myrhh and Amber set in for the long haul, 8-12 hours of beautiful sweet balsamic goodness. Can see as unisex but in my opinion the dark depths of the Myrhh lean masculine. Scent: 8.7/10 Longevity: 9/10 Sillage: 8/10 Value: 7/10 ( two sprays=4-6 sprays of designer stuff) A must try!

**I am collecting donations for a perfume raffle basket to benefit a friend, and Daniel Gallagher graciously donated two full size bottles for the raffle baskets, in addition to a discovery set of samples to send to my friend. Not familiar with the line, I had to test them out before sending them off to my friend.** I love gourmands, I am not a fan of coffee fragrances. This one is one of the best I've sampled, it's similar to Kerosene's Follow but without the sickly maple note. The opening is big, but the drydown is soft and I think this would be an excellent fragrance for layering.

Nice aromatic resinous coffee, perfectly balanced and perfectly sweet, but not too sweet. Interesting and nicely complex, but still wearable scent. Not too gourmand, which might be a pro or a con, depending on preference.

Carpe Cafe is undeniably balsamic. While the coffee note is the star of the show, there are other elements at play as well. The cypress note adds a refreshing twist, providing a green and woody undertone that cuts through the sweetness of the balsamic scent. Carpe Cafe is a great fragrance for colder weather. My only critique of Carpe Cafe is that I wish the coffee note lasted a little longer. While it is prominent at first, it seems to fade a bit too quickly, leaving the balsamic and cypress notes to take center stage.

I would have to say that i find the coffee smell overwhelming in what is frankly an unpleasant way to me. I get a very slight bit of the vanilla but none of the other notes come through to me. Frankly I am not a fan of this fragrance, but a lot of his other fragrances are great.

I don't like it at all. Coffe note makes it too complicated and masculine. The juice feels heavy and you get an impression of heavy oils, like it has not been destilled properly. Not for me.

I get neither coffee nor vanilla, but an acidic chemical smell

Carpe cafe. It does indeed feel like seizing the day.. though coffee. I get the impression that this fragrance is rather underrated as of yet. Initially I felt that it was a little off putting. Sticky, too strong, too bracing. Honestly, I feel that this is the case with some of the best perfumes I know & own. Upon first spray I smell a coarse alcohol which quickly evaporates, as is the case with many niche parfums. In its place, I smell a rich, bold cup of coffee, laced with vanilla. Oily, rich vanilla. Not a sugared coffee, the laudanum base gives it a bit of sweetness, which I feel is a very masterful move, in leiu of a boring “cafe latte”. So, we’ve had our morning coffee, the air is still chill, we’re in our socks & pj’s at the cabin far north, checking email, while the fire crackles and the kettle boils gently. The smell of fir, cypress & smoke mingle softly with the scent of our morning brew, I smell your cologne, a bit bracing & masculine on the sheets still. My own scent, a bit sweet, cozy, slightly oriental, but faded clings to my night shirt. The overall effect is magical. Rich coffee at the cabin, that rare feeling of comfort combined with the freedom, mystery, & liberation of the outdoors. The scent of snow to come, tension in the air. The bliss of comforting fire and all of the luxuries it provides. Carpe Cafe is a beautifully excexuted contradiction which creates a truly magical harmony for me. Rich coffe in the wild, yet still, setting of a snowy hunting cabin.. the smell of your lover, there with you. It’s warm, close, and not only serene but exciting, and enchanting as only a wild winter landscape can be. Both tamed, as mortal fire, and wild as winter snow. For me, a truly intoxicating fragrance which I cannot get enough of. As addictive as caffeine & sugar. As necessary as fresh, mountain air. The longevity is great, 6-8 hours but I find myself reapplying to experience that middle phase of rich coffee vs wild fir over & over. Truly FB worthy.

Dark roasted coffee over resinous amber Carpe Cafe is indeed an evocative fragrance true to its purpose of highlighting a vivid coffee note in its opening. As the dark bitter coffee opening slowly dies out into a resinous evergreen amber heart, half as daring as something like SL Fille en Anguilles, it dries down (to my nose) into a warm resinous buzz that has little shape or intrigue. Not uncomfortable by any means, just not very interesting, dry woody amber with hints of myrrh. I believe that for the sake of sullying the opening realism, the rest of the formula was given not enough attention. Having sampled loads of coffee fragrances, I have come to the conclusion that many of them suffer a similar fate, because of the fact that few raw materials/olfactory profiles resemble coffee, the ambery vanillic family being to sweet and creamy, too similar to supermarket coffee creamers, while charred or intense woody notes arent appetizing enough to evoke coffee. The third pitfall: coffee in the top, nothing noteworthy after, which I believe this belongs in. My go to coffee fragrances are still Cafe Croissant (buttery cappuccino) and Akro Awake (realistic black coffee through cardamom and vetiver), Carpe Cafe falls into the same forgotten drawer as that last 10 coffee ambers have.

I beg to differ. This is a very cypress & fir dominant perfume with some coffee in a secondary role. Not sure if I like this combination. Then after 1 hour or so the myrrh and labdsnum dominate for the rest of the duration. The coffee become soft. The overall perfume becomes very resinous. There is a very strong clove accord that also makes presence. I was expecting a vanilla coffee dominant scent from this perfume. Instead what I got was a clove-myrrh potpourri. The sandalwood and vanilla are not noticeable to my nose. I’ll pass.

Smells like sitting down beside the Christmas tree and sipping a sweetened coffee before the festivities begin. A very thoughtful and well-blended fragrance. It has more green cypress with a bit of myrrh and coffee. This fragrance brings back memories that I don't even have. I hope Daniel starts making this one again.
