Resinwood

Sampling one of the two most recent releases from Gallagher Fragrances, Resinwood, a fittingly woody and resinous blend accented by timur pepper, black hemlock, frankincense, amber, oakmoss, and sandalwood, per the official note listing. The pepper and hemlock stand out most significantly, the sharp spiciness of the pepper pairing with dark, almost otherworldly poison of the hemlock, a concept beautifully explored in Parfums Quartana’s Hemlock, appearing more measuredly in Resinwood. The fragrance opens a bit heady but gives way to the satisfying pepper/hemlock blend after some moments, with the woods and oakmoss gradually becoming a bigger part of the equation over time. It’s really just the opening moments that are particularly intense and bold, as it predictably becomes a bit more reserved over time. Overall, it’s pretty outstanding in terms of quality and creativity, and mostly so with performance. Resinwood is part of the main collection, EDP concentration, priced at $125 for 50ml and sold in the US via the house website and boutiques that carry the line. The house’s pricing has leveled in recent years to be very reasonable in the current market, and with the diversity and depth of their catalogue, it’s one of my favorite success stories of niche perfume brands in the US. 8 out of 10

Gorgeous. Ormonde Woman is as close as I come to having a signature scent and the black hemlock present in Resinwood is the only time I’ve smelled black hemlock be as real and as present as it is in Ormonde Woman. This is honestly what I wish Ormonde Man smelled more like and I had to pick up a bottle of Resinwood for my man immediately. Only wish it had come out before I bought him that Ormonde man bottle years ago, coulda saved a pretty penny 😅

Hemlock, bergamot, and frankincense, all look great. I like the new lavender 🪻 bourbon one as well. Would definitely be interested in this.
