Septamber

I echo Seuni's sentiments about Septamber smelling just as it is described by the listed notes. This could instill fear in people like me who are a little wary of wine or tobacco notes, but I really enjoy Septamber. For me, it fulfills a very specific niche I've always found difficult: gray, rainy, springtime days. Unlike many people, I loathe rain and overcast weather. The last thing I want is to lean into a fragrance that echoes the rainy drizzle or feels gray and damp in any way. On the other hand, solar flowers or other summery bright scents feel totally inappropriate -- and by spring, I'm looking to let go of most of my heavily warming, cozy winter fragrances. What to do? Enter Septamber, stage left! The wine note counteracts the drizzly gloom, the maple and woodsiness keep me grounded through the rain, and yet there's an overall lightness that doesn't feel cloying or like I need to be stuck in a snowdrift to enjoy it. Plus, longevity is fantastic, with a very wearable, tobacco-centric yet balanced drydown. This is a total keeper for me.

I love Gallagher's compositions - mostly because of their quality, lasting, well priced and most importantly - they smell of the things he puts in the note breakdown. What do I mean by that - This smells of: - when you put your nose into a tin of apricot flavored black tea, and - red, mulled wine but not as spicy as some you can buy bottled. a warm, red wine smell, and - dusty, woody, warm, tobacco-like smell - resinous, amber warmth but without the leathery, bitter, old wood/old house smell. That's it. It smells of that he has said - an amber warm, wine, black tea, apricot and maple woody experience. Delicious, very close to gourmand (or maybe even?), warm, cozy, unisex experience of all woody, dusty, fruity, winey, and ambery. Will last you about 9h, maybe more as a skin scent, projects nicely and leaves a great trail. Office safe if you pull light on the trigger in the autumn times. Absolute unisex. When it dries down reminds me of tobacolor, but better.

Received my sample of this today, and decided to spray on one wrist to test. It's a dark, windy Fall day and this does not disappoint. Gorgeous! To me this is like an Old Fashioned, made with very high quality whiskey. A bit fruity, a bit floral, a little smoky, sweet, boozy with a touch of oak, a tiny bit of bitterness to offset the sweetness. I do find this gourmand, but not at all foody. A little grown up, as most strong whiskey drinks are. Simply delicious, unisex, and perfect for Fall and Winter. So unique, but also wearable. I am in love 😍. Im surprised at some of the negative reviews here - I find this 100 percent addictive and want a full bottle of this! Going to try a full day wear test tomorrow, and will update if anything changes, but right now just ugh - so beautiful.

the end all be all of niche wine fragrances. i love fall, it’s my favorite season, growing up in jersey this is exactly what fall feels like, sitting on a park bench on the last warm day of summer before the leaves turn and fall ensues. this fragrance is that transformation, beauty in a bottle; for the price, i can’t think of a similar alternative that could touch the level of septamber. nuff said, please try before you judge. sparkly apricot in the opening accompanied by a photorealistic red wine note which follows you throughout the drydown, later turns into the beautiful smell of a centuries old wine cellar, the last ray of sun beaming through the bilco doors revealing an antique oak wood smell accompanied by the harvest season hay. 10/10

Oh! This is beautiful! Shockingly beautiful. Without descending into use of the ubiquitous (and awful) ‘smoke/incense/oud/spice/wood’ note, this is a tour of September: wine, burning leaves, woods, dried hay, apples, maple syrup.... The notes touch, one slips out, another combination. There was never a moment when this wasn’t beautiful and evocative!

Extremely balsamic! Smells like propolis (bee-glue) mixed with some prunes or other dried fruits with a huge amount of olibanum. Plus, some subtle sweetness (from beeswax maybe). It’s very intense but I like it. It’s definitely a statement. Follow me on IG: scent.guide

This is a strong like for me. As the same suggests, this is a great one for fall (or even winter). This opens with super boozy wine and oak. I'm not the biggest fan of oak, and thankfully it didn't bother me in this fragrance. I also find it to be quite smokey early on...almost like a campfire or burning leaves. As it develops this starts to go more gourmand-I'm shocked this doesn't have chestnut in it! I get a delicious nutty chestnut and vanilla with maple syrup/immortelle, with the wine. I find this scent to be very boozy from start to finish. Also, the immortelle in this comes across as maple syrup and does not go in the curry direction (thankfully). To me, this is in the same vein as MM By the Fireplace or Kerosene Blackmail; I'd say they could all be cousins, and if you like one, you'd like the other. Definitely recommend giving this one a try.

I hate the look of the bottle, but the scent isn’t bad. I would say it’s somewhat challenging in the beginning when it’s very strongly tobacco and woods, but it mellows after 10 minutes and I’m reminded of mulled wine with fine wooden furniture. A hint of cherry. Opening an old, old wooden chest. Creased leather bound books. All around not terrible, a relatively sophisticated blend of notes in my book. I would give it another shot in winter.

"September" is not the first thing that comes to mind when smelling this fragrance. I was hoping for a scent that screams "fall." This isn't it. The rose is very forward in this one. Totally unisex. A man or woman can both feel comfortable wearing this. They should have titled this some variation on the word "February," because I (male) would totally rock it for Valentines Day and would also love to smell it on my wife.

Strong apricot surrounded by slightly uncomfortable sweetness (maple?), smokiness (tobacco & leather), and bitterness (wine & oak tannins); it has some sharpness, booziness, & warmth as well... Starts out just okay but the looong labdanum drydown is addictive!

A stack of papers on which someone once spilled a lot of dry red wine, wine from a tetra pack to be precise. If I really try, I can smell some oak, hay, and tobacco plus a hint of immortelle. I've been giving this fragrance a try again & again for several months already... alas, it's a scrubber.

I was given this as a free sample, not by choice, so I feel a little harsh writing a review on this but....eurgh. To my nose, this is horrible & unwearable & would massively choke out all those around you. It reminds me nothing of September, which is one of my favourite months & reminds me more of a middle eastern spice market overpowering your nostrils relentlessly.

This was so disappointing. All I smell is wood varnish. I don't smell any of this other notes. Also pulls quite masculine.

Reminds me of San Francisco. Smells very strongly of port wine when first sprayed, but quickly settles to an oaky ambery port wine. I love it because of the reminiscence, but people might think you smell like a lush that’s been drinking red wine for two days.

Probably my 2nd favorite Gallagher next to Rose Noir. Not usually a fan of turkish rose in perfumes, it integrates well with the honeyed amber, maple, oakwood, etc..aspects of this design. ✨

This one was a scrubber for me. Disappointing because the notes sound great, but there’s something so overpowering and cloying about it.

Kinda nice, smells a bit like old honey. Still detectable after 28 hours
