Villainess Vanilla

I also received this as part of the Fragrantica giveaway. To my nose, the initial lime and fir notes were a surprise, but not overwhelming at all.Then came the black current and pineapple and finally a drydown of musky rose. Although this fragrance isn't one I would normally choose, I can appreciate that a more fruity/rose admirer would like this one.

This was a strange one. I didn't really like it at the end, but here we go: Pulled out an old sample. At first I thought I was smelling peach, with some smoke. Looked here, and saw pineapple listed. Reapplied after a shower, and sure, I could see it. I think the pineapple mixed with the blackcurrant gives a very juicy vibe, and doesn't really read pineapple to me personally. I didn't pick up any cucumber or bergamot. Definitely got a smoke note, and after smelling some aromachemicals, I could see that fir might be listed when using something that actually is more of a smoke than a balsam. Whatever. It was the drydown that I didn't really like. There's a sort of buttery/fatty/creamy smell that doesn't sit right with me. I don't hate it, but I also actively do not enjoy it. It's more of a buttercream/fatty smell with a whisper of vanilla, than vanilla. This is a miss for me, but if you like any of the above qualities, it might do it for ya.

Where is the actual vanilla? All I get is sharp chemical soup.

This will be my third review of four of the fragrances I have bought from Gallagher Fragrances. The first reviewing being Bergamust which I am falling more in love with since I have reviewed it, the second being Liberalis Hortus. This Scent for me wasn't my cup of tea. I think its a well composed scent and is for sure more a women scent than it is a man scent. I think I will let my gf check this one out and I assume she will love it. The scent opens up very flowery and like roses. it has vanilla that comes through after a bit and becomes a very floral sweet scent that I would like to smell on a women, just not a man. I do think its a great scent and I wont rate it based on it not being for me, more for what I would rate this smelling it on my gf. Longevity and projection will be kept standard as I cant rate that based on me because its not coming from me. I think this is a great scent for women more than men, while I am sure there are some guys who can rock this with no problem. I received this fragrance as part of one of Fragrantica's official giveaways. Thank you, Mr. Gallagher. I find this one to be a little unusual among vanilla perfumes; I can smell not only the pineapple, but some of its acidity as well. While I'm not particularly fond of this one, there's something to be said for vanillas that aren't simply creamy cream. Going by the contrast of the previous review, I wonder how much it varies batch-to-batch, because I'm not getting any rose whatsoever - it's just acidic pineapple and vanilla for me.

I was told that I smelt of baby powder when wearing this. Not what I was hoping for.
