Cognac Cafe

I believe this fragrance is now discontinued, but I was lucky enough to get my hands on a 10ml sample. This is an extrait-strength scent, and even 24 hours later, I can still catch traces of its rich coffee, almond, and sugar notes lingering on my T-shirt after wearing it on a night out. What struck me immediately was the sheer number of compliments I received. On the first wear, people kept telling me I smelled like boozy chocolate, warm coffee, or caramel. One woman even asked, “You smell lovely, what is it?” while we were at the bar—definitely a moment that made my night. Later on, a fellow fragrance enthusiast picked up on it and guessed, “You are wearing Black Phantom!” And to top it off, at the end of the night, our taxi driver asked my wife what fragrance she was wearing, only for her to point at me and say, “It’s him!” This was a solid six hours after applying it, and it was still going strong. I own Black Phantom myself but wear it sparingly—its intensity can be overwhelming, almost like a punch in the face. This fragrance, on the other hand, has the same dark, warm vibe as Black Phantom but is smoother and more refined. The Galleria Oud is sweeter, with the almond note adding richness and a hint of boozy rum or cognac in the background. There’s also a delectable gourmand sugar sweetness that lifts the whole composition, giving it a more approachable, commercial feel, much like a Killian fragrance. I can understand why some people might compare it to Angel Share. While it doesn’t smell like Angel Share at all, it does share that same warmth and complexity, effortlessly blending oud, booze, chocolate, almond, and coffee. It’s an easy-wearing, Eastern-inspired fragrance that’s also a compliment magnet. I’m so glad I got the chance to try it.

Sweet dark coffee and vanilla vibe. This is fantastic, to me. I love this fragrance and I haven't really smelled anything that quite nails it like this one does. The sweetness on this can be considered unisex. It's definitely mass appealing and heavy on coffee/vanilla but it's not like a typical youthful sweet frag. Definitely a cooler weather scent, good for people who like gourmands. It's very gourmand, no musky notes or ambroxan. It's smooth, good quality, and smells very nice. Remove the fact that it's a failed Youtube venture and you have yourself a good fragrance. This one lasts FOREVER on me too, easily 8-10 hours, lasts days on clothes. Great buy for the $41 its going for. Wouldnt buy this at the original price point of $205, but $41 for a 100ml of good quality juice is a great price for what you are getting here. Go for it if it is still available, but read reviews if you're going in blind because it may not smell like you think it does. You can probably get a decant somewhere still, I would always say to sample first.

You must give Cognac Cafe 15 to 30 minutes. I nearly wrote it off as too sweet and one dimensional, until a Noir thing started happening. There are no fruit notes listed, but I definitely pick up a cherry or tart fruit-like note happening in the mid that elevates this fragrance beyond the toffee/brown sugar opening. I don't pick up any coffee. The papyrus and oak come along after an hour or so but only as bit players. The vanilla becomes more prominent after a couple hours. People have compared this to Black Phantom and, if you judge it by the first 15 to 30 minutes, I can see why. But on my skin there is something else going on in the mid and into dry down that I really dig. I do rank this up there with some of the better gourmand fragrances. The quality is there, whether you like this type of fragrance or not.

Easier to wear and more agreeable version of Black Phantom by Kilian, IMO (same perfumer). Sure some notes have changed around but what you are getting is coffee, toffee/brown sugar, hint of greenness + vanilla type of goodness (touch of cognac throughout). The whole Galleria line is actually pretty great with Cognac Cafe and Shades of Seduction being my favorites. I did not expect such strong releases from a youtuber brand, very nice surprise. Performance is better than Kilian, but Kilian's presentation however is unbeatable!

Oh my goodness what a beautiful perfume. This smells like a very beautiful coffee with liquor in it. I sprayed it once on my wrist, got on my car, turned on the heat and the inside of my car turned into a chocolate house. This doesn't smell like anything like Black Phantom, I have both fragrances, I can safely say if anyone thinks this is clone for BF this person really needs to smell both fragrances.

@onnagreen it's funny you say that, I gave it away to my girlfriend because I found it too feminine for me. I love it on her however, and she told me her friends complimented her on it. A delicious gourmand that has good longevity and projection, Cognac Cafe is yet another hit by Sidonie Lancesseur. 8/10

A very creamy coffee scent. Reminds me of walking into a Starbucks. Leans a little bit masculine. Very long lasting and worth the going price of about $100 these days for 100ml.

This is my sampling of the recently-released Galleria Parfums from Ashton / Gents Scents, Cognac Cafe, certainly my most anticipated try of the line of 7 new fragrances, as I tend to love both boozy and coffee-rich fragrances. Cognac Cafe consists of coffee, not of the dark/burnt variety but the steamed/milky variety, in concert with notes of cognac, almond, brown sugar, and licorice, the result being something nearly entirely gourmand, quite sweet and creamy with a slightly nutty/spicy/powdery side fostered by the almond, along with cedar, myrrh, and vanilla in the base. It immediately reminds me of another nuanced milky scent, Xerjoff Italica, but with the notable addition of coffee. As it dries down, it settles into a very comfortable balance that’s sweet (but overly sweet) with nuances, particularly of the almond (with a sort of spicy nutmeg side), shining through with each subsequent smell. And it has vague resinous and woody qualities without being substantially resinous or woody. The first impression is a good one—this is a very good fragrance that gourmand lovers will surely gravitate toward; it performs well; and unlike Italica, as with the rest of the line, it is priced at $205 for 100ml, which very reasonable for independent perfumery, in my opinion. I’ll continue to wear it some more but this is certainly one I’d recommend that others try. I was fortunate to buy some decants of the collection, but an official discovery set is also available for $35. I look forward to sampling the rest of the line, as well. 7 out of 10

I would describe this as going to a coffee shop, a starbucksish coffees shop, the barista wants to show you their new drink, and the pull out a big sandlewood bowl, that is full of coffee beans but these coffees they use are all orange, pink and purple, sorta pastel colors, that give off almost a bubble gum sweetish smell. Its a mix of something I would say part By kilians, Black phantom, and actually Mancera cafe oud with out the celery smell.. with just a pinch of that bond new york I love for all sorta vibe with out going full blown hazelnut coffee kinda thing. I get a very slight bit of cognac smell to this, but only in very specific light breaths, as this pastel coffee froth really covers it up. Personally again I think if you like dark phantom youll probably like this. Or if you like manceras cafe oud but you dont want that celery note, which on my skin lasted for hours and hours. Check this one out. As it basically for the most part is a mix of those 2 fragrances. Not a holy grail coffee scent for me, but I do like it enough that id probably pick up a decant if the price was right at the time

This smells very metallic to me. I don't understand why. I do get the gourmand, the coffee, the cognac, etc., but something in this is off. Maybe the coffee? Edit: This projects very strong if you spray too much. I may have used too many sprays and that could have caused that metallic-ness in this, but in general, this isn't my favorite of the bunch. I really like Dream Woods. I will say that this is the best coffee fragrance I've ever smelled and none others come close. Primarily because the good ones are typically very dark or bitter. So if it's possible, I think it's worth giving it a try if feasible. Don't go out of your way however. Edit 2: No, even with little sprays this still comes off as metallic, but this at least it's not as intense or strong. This also is not the best coffee fragrance to my nose. I prefer something like Ristretto Intense Cafe, and another.

Cream and Coffee, in that order. Cognac Cafe is made up of creamy, milky vanilla, sweetened with "taste-realistic" sugar, mixed with half a shot of espresso. Sweet, creamy, milky, sugary, vanilla, coffee. The sugary-sweet, edible vanilla dominates. Very creamy, like a double fat milk. The coffee is added in a calculated way that you get it's soft scent without its woodiness or bitterness. This is why it's ranked third in perception here. The almond and oak, while not overt, I believe they enhance the creaminess of the scent. This is a sweet vanilla delight with hints of coffee for gourmand and coffee lovers. Very wearable. Very sweet, especially as it dries down. In the winter, I can see Cognac Cafe killing in a good way! Leans feminine with its sweet creaminess. "Like"

Okay so the main reason I even bought any fragrances from Galleria was because I thought the name of this one sounded intriguing. I wanted it. I'll be honest it didn't smell like how I anticipated. I expected a boozy coffee. I got a starbucks latte. But I was not disappointed. It is a nice scent my girlfriend likes it. I like it. Its a warm, cozy, cuddle buddy frag. It's a very very unisex fragrance. Lasts for hours 10 to 12 easily projects decently even after 6 hours. The compliments I usually get with this one is "you smell nice"

Cognac cafe is a delicious gourmand fragrance that sits close to the skin even though it’s labeled as an elixir. I overlooked this house and bought it when they were having their close out sale. If you like vanillac coffee with almond milk you’ll like this it’s exactly that with a touch of cognac. The cognac in this fragrance isn’t loud or projecting it’s just a supporting note that lingers in the background. The almond in this fragrance to me mixed with the sandalwood makes this a very creamy fragrance/ gives off that latté vibe.

This one was my favourite of all seven Galleria fragrances - that being said, after seeing the comparisons to Black Phantom (which I haven't smelt) it suggests this is yet another clone / take on a pre-existing fragrance, not unlike several others in the lineup. Smooth gourmand coffee, with a hint of cognac and sugary vanilla sweetness is what I got. If it was half the price i'd actually consider buying a bottle, but if it's as similar to Black Phantom as some of the other fragrances are to others that would turn me off.

I get cherry, chocolate, and coffee. The cherry is most likely the licorice. It reminds me of a cherry chocolate beer produced by a local microbrewery. Super gourmand. On the dry down it is chocolate, booze, and coffee. It may or may not be a twin of Kilian Black Phantom, but it's definitely at least a sibling. I can't tell if I like it or not but I imagine this will be a crowd pleaser.

Starts out as a very sweet almond milk latte blast. The almond milk dissipates and it becomes a more balanced and enjoyable sweet vanilla/woody scent with coffee underneath. I enjoy the mid/dry down more than the opening. Worth sampling if you like these notes, especially if you like Black Phantom because there are similarities. Not surprised it's the same perfumer.

Nutty, woody, resinous coffee with a slightly fruity booze undertone. More woody than boozy so the name is kinda misleading in my opinion. The sour/terpy aspect of the coffee is not present. Very strong and performant, hurts my nose to smell the test strip too closely. Unisex, good for cold weather. Discontinued.

This is a very sweet fragrance to my nose. In the opening I get a blast of coffee but it quickly settles into a very sugary almond and oak scent on my skin with little fleeting hints of cognac. I thought it was ok, a little cloying for me, my partner really enjoyed it on me though.

Dark liquor aged in an oak barrel added to your morning coffee. I put this on around 8pm and could easily still smell it when I woke up at 7am.. great longevity and also strooooong. Be careful with your sprays 😉. Quite nice but leans a little too masculine for my taste.

I’m blasting through this sample from the sample set because it is so short lived. Two hours and it’s gone. It’s a sophisticated gourmand and nicely blended but it also has a projection problem. Too bad. I had more success with Dream Woods and By the Yuzu Grove.
