Victorian Tobacco

I mentioned how I love his lineup in dream woods bottle. The presentation, etc. We’ll skip over that... Victorian Tobacco was the second bottle I opened. Sprayed my hand and... this may be my favorite one in his lineup. It’s the most memorable one for me. I haven’t sprayed this in a couple of weeks but I can remember EXACTLY what this smells like in my head. Very distinct. Smells just like tobacco and liquor to me. Although I don’t go to cigar bars. This would be the perfect fragrance to wear. I genuinely love this fragrance. I just don’t know where else I would wear this. I can see not many people loving this fragrance. It smells great, but not a huge people pleaser. But this is something a f*cking man wears. You need confidence. Not a teenager or someone in their early 20s. This adds plus +10 to you manly hood. This is how you max out your man stat. This is the tell your wife “No, you go to the store and pick up your own damn tampons and do the dishes” fragrance. This fragrance adds 25 lbs to your bench. If you’re a girl transitioning into a man (since it’s the popular thing to do nowadays), this is what you need to finish the transition. Spray it on your neck and grow an Adam’s apple. Spray it on your chest... BOOM! Chest hair. Is it a safe blind buy? Probably not... but I genuinely love it. If you’re into tobacco fragrances and have the confidence to pull it off. ABSOLUTELY!

This is a man's man scent. I love it. It's a 9 out of 10. This fragrance makes no excuses for what it is. Smelling the cap my first thought was, 'This is the good stuff.' I couldn't wait to spray it on my skin. Tobacco is the star here but there is much more to enjoy. The gin and juniper berries in the opening gives it a dry effervescence. The apple note makes for a mellow sweetness. The soft woods give the scent a laid back strength. I really like the use of oak. Accords shift through out in a pleasant way. When the chocolate cake like patchouli rises to the heart of the scent the blend with the haitian vetiver brings a decadent sophistication. This is addictive. I wanted to keep respraying to start the scent journey all over from the beginning. I got three hours of strong sillage. A female friend liked it very much and gave it an 8 out of 10. I could see this as a signature scent for a bold personality. This is a scent for a confident, intelligent male with sophistication though it may work for a confident female too. The name is suitable. It's something one imagines smelling sitting down to a meeting with Sherlock Holmes and Dr. Moriarty. If you enjoy tobacco fragrances here's one you shouldn't miss. This is steampunk fantasy meets black leather and hard woods.

My second try of Galleria Parfums (curated by Ashton of Gents Scents) is Victorian Tobacco, a fresh, herbaceous, semi-spicy tobacco scent that boasts of sophistication with a very pleasant, semi-masculine blend that features notes of gin and tonic, juniper, geranium, clary sage, tonka, guaiac, vanilla, and of course, tobacco itself. I do not consider it to be a “sweet tobacco” fragrance as it’s only semi-sweet, nor is it overly heady or sharp; it feels very well-rounded and carefully thought out, perhaps not an easy winner for everyone but certainly a nod to those that enjoy tobacco-centric fragrances. I think this is a great offering, easily a men’s signature scent that can be worn throughout most of the year (perhaps not on a very hot day) and through a variety of situations. It dresses up very well while still being comforting and reasonably easy to wear. I believe it’s only for sale via the company website, at $205 for 100ml, just over $2/ml, a fair price for what smells like a high-quality scent that balances wearability, sophistication, performance, and inventiveness. 8 out of 10

If you took out the florals from Tom Ford Black Orchid and added dry tobacco (leaf) note. You could come up with something close to Victorian Tobacco. Having said that, this fragrance is what I always wanted Black Orchid to be. I think Black Orchid is fantastic but the florals always bothered me and kept me from fully enjoying that amazing concoction of dark cocoa, patchouli and vanilla. I get a very similar feel from Victorian Tobacco, doesn't list cocoa as a note but I assume it is the patchouli that smells chocolaty here. The juniper berries do give it a very slight herbal feel, specially in the opening but it is enjoyable and along with the apple, it provides a juxtaposition for the richness in the base. Performance is fantastic, best from the whole line performance-wise if my memory serves. Tip: Don't smell it up close as the scent is quite intense, let it do it's magic in the air. My girlfriend didn't like the fragrance when I asked her to smell my arm but another day, I gave it a full wearing and she complimented me. So yeah 🤷♂️

This smells sweet, creamy, and luxurious. It has a deep smell, and it lasts and lasts. I got some on the sleeve of my jacket, and my jacket has been smelling like it for weeks now. Not many colognes have grabbed and held my attention as of late. They either smell like something else I have, are just not that interesting, are weird, or they have longevity problems. This one cures all of those things. It is unique, reminds of a very sweet tobacco that I imagine being from a big leaf of flue-cured tobacco, sweet and without smokiness. It really lasts a long time and I can enjoy the scent all day. I love most tobacco scents, but this is the only one I have smelled that is creamy and gourmand while also being tobacco. Love, love, love.

So much I want this!!! Of the 7 in the collection, this is the most intriguing. My finger was on the keyboard ready to click on "pay" to buy a full bottle, and my wife yelled from across the room "what the heck is that smell???!!!". All I can say is that she is a newbie and can't handle too much of this good stuff. I might have to settle for the easier scent of Cognac Cafe. I really really really want Victorian Tobacco, but I was told I am not allowed in the house if I wear this. Update: I wore the sample again, and again she immediately smelt it from across the room and complaint. But, I really really want it, so I just placed an order. I figure I will wear it when I go out by myself. Smart, eh!

This criminally underated for a strong tobacco scent by Jorge Lee. This is a strong, long lasting tobacco fragrance with a strong booze note throughout. It's not going to be everyone's cup of tea because it is definitely a masculine frag for guys who like to be punched in the nose. Imagine Sherlock Holmes pulling his favorite blend out his Persian slipper, filling the 221B Baker Street drawing room with the strong tobacco smell. Elementary, Watson, simply elementary.

oh damn this is actually very good opening fresh Gin juniper berry blast and the scent is like a fresher style tobacco but still with some light spicy and cacao touches of sweetnes and it's very well made! if you want something thats not the same as all the sweet tobacco fragrances. then this is actually very good i like it alot and it's easy to wear but still unique!

This is less intense on my skin compared to on paper. It's quite strong in the opening and this smells a little boozy. It has this smell of fall time where it's dark, sweet, and rich. It reminds me of the taste of wine. It's lovely in the opening, but once it begins to settle and dry down, the tobacco begins to show itself. It's slightly ashy, and smells closer to cigarettes than to other types of tobacco. It's not bad, but I'm not much of a fan of the ashy type of tobacco. Overall however, this smells nice and I would not tell anyone not to try this, but it isn't worth going out of your way (unless you're a fan of tobacco fragrances, or Gents Scents).

I will start this off with a couple of positives. The tobacco note is well done and smells quite natural. The performance on this is also very good, I get 9+ hours of longevity and the projection is decent. The scent as a whole however, a bit of a let down. The opening reminds me of original flavoured Fisherman's Friend throat lozenges. It then dries down into a boozy, syrupy sweet tobacco which is ok, but there are better boozy tobacco fragrances out there for the price.

Really suprised this one doesn't have as much posotive feedback as I had expected. It is a little strange. The name really nails it on the head. If I were to ignore the listed notes I get a slightly spicey, dusty, honeycomb, with maple syrup. It dries down and the honey/maple stay through the duration, lingering pipe Tobacco smoke in the background. The Dry down really reminds me of a dusty/masculin version of Unique Luxury Crush on me.

This is a complex one. A blast of wood and spices from the beginning. Like a perfume from the 80s: so loud, woody, & spicy.The vanilla comes, sweet and shy, hours into the dry down to soften the scent further. The tobacco here is different. Heavily woody and slightly bitter and dusty, like a hefty dose of myrrh, barely softened with a small dose of ambery beeswax with a very light nuance of honey. The juniper/gin notes freshen the scent in a sharp, freshly spicy, and slightly minty and green way. Woody, heavy, loud, slightly-bitter, resinous, dusty, spicy, lightly-fresh. Ash of GentsScents of YouTube, the creative director of Galleria Parfums, always said he loves Drakkar Noir. Well, Victorian Tobacco is his modern take on such a perfume. Of all the Galleria Parfums lineup, this is the most niche and difficult to wear fragrance. This is very old school. I do not like saying it but this is "old man fragrance". Like the classic Aramis and Aramis 900. Cool weather, masculine wear. "OK".

This review of VT is based on the discovery set sample. My first reaction is that this had to be a mistake. After a while I began to wonder if Jorge Lee was actually trying to recreate a slightly stale pipe tobacco mixed with seventies style, male cologne. To my nose, this is the most spot on tobacco note I have encountered in a fragrance. Unfortunately, it reminds me of the kind of tobacco that was common in the South many years ago: not sweet, not blended, and a little past it. I have no idea where others are getting the sweet thing because my sample was dry as ash. Add to that underlying notes of a seventies, male fragrance, with the clary sage, geranium and patchouli and you have Victorian Tobacco. It literally smells like an aging, victorian dude. If that's your thing, you will happily give off that vibe for hours and hours because performance is major. Good luck with that.

Much darker than the notes indicate, this surprised me. It's interesting, pleasant even, but I don't actually enjoy it. It reminds me of both pink urinal cakes and summer camp wooden cabins. There's also a whiff of forest air about it. It's definitely not a bad smell, dryly sweet warm woods with an herbal (almost metholated or pine-y?) touch, but I have zero interest in smelling like this. Also it's very musky in the end, which is unappealing. Review of official trial size spray sample from discovery set.

Very strong bitter dry tobacco oil. Smells like cigar without the burnt smell. Pure cigar paper and oil + some nutmeg and dry fruit. I don't like it but it is unique. 7.6/10

It smells like Michael's Craft Store. I was REALLY looking forward to this so it's a little disappointing that the notes play together perfectly to resemble a craft store.

So far, this has been my least favorite of the Galleria Parfums line. Right up front, juniper and gin are prominent. These last quite a while too, far longer than what I'd typically attribute to a top note. Obviously the tobacco is there, but Victorian Tobacco from start to finish is sickly sweet. There is almost a syrupy quality to it. The woods plus the sweetness leads to a very maple syrup feeling. That about sums up the scent for me: A cigar dipped in maple syrup. Performance is very good. As a heavy cold weather scent, it doesn't blow off your skin, but it is noticeable to those around you. My wife offered the unsolicited maple syrup comment from about 3 feet 30 minutes after spraying. It sticks around on the skin too. 12 hours and I could still get a solid nose on it as a skin scent and I got a few whiffs in the morning after a sleep. I probably won't be giving this one another wear. There are many other tobacco and/or boozy scents that I enjoy more.

Definitely the most individual of the Galleria line, but also comfortably the worst - based off the notes I was excited to try this, but I had to physically scrub this one off my skin. Stick to making overpriced clones I think, because this one really missed the mark.

I don't care for this at ALL. I think my problem is that I feel those sharper fresher top notes trying to play on the same playground with a dark, aggressive tobacco and vanilla to boot... is just a bust. This is not a good blend, and I completely understand why dajc26 is not allowed to wear this in the house, lest the spouse have a stroke... I DO have an experienced nose and I don't see any reason to bring this stuff into the house, or the garage, or a party or anywhere. But don't take that as hate if you love it... I just want to throw out a warning to the unsuspecting who think the notes look interesting. As far as Galleria is concerned, I keep recommending the sampler set though... there is great variety here, and a nice value on generous sample sizes. My favorites were By the Yuzu grove, Dream Woods, and Shades of Seduction.

Imortelle Imortelle Imortelle! Yep the infamous note that made Annick Goutal Sables legendary. The drydown is 100% spot on. This is old school and very very difficult to pull off. I had a love/hate relationship with Sables but the top notes in VT are not as challenging but man oh man that drydown is magical. Fougere Bengale is another 1 to try that is similar.
