Taba Choko

If Taba Choko means Tobacco Chocolate then Taba Choko is a misnomer. The only thing chocolate is the color of the liquid and as far as Tobacco is concerned, I don't smell any at all. This fragrance is all about saffron. The leather aspect of this note is an apparition. It doesn't add any real character to an otherwise uninspiring fragrance. The oud is another note sorta like an apparition. Im not sure if this Indian oud is supposed to be fecal or barely noticeable. With the combination of notes, I was heavily rooting for the oud to be formidable. A quiet fragrance this is; a luminous creation and feminine in nature. I need to call Fragrantica down to the front of the congregation. I'd like to have a word with them for listing accords that doesn't seem to exist. There's barely any leather, barely any powder, no vanilla, no tobacco, no chocolate and no picture of the fragrance...and I thought Taba Choko was gonna be explicit..psst!

I enjoy @Roge’s reviews all the time, he tells it straight up with no bs, one of the best reviewers on fragrantica. In this case though, I have a different take on Taba Choko. I agree that the saffron dominates but I’m getting the hints Oud and vanilla and for whatever reason, the olfactory illusion of chocolate. The chocolate is fleeting and comes and goes but it’s there somewhere. I’m also getting a slight BBQ smell but it’s not offputting or anything, it’s just there. Not what I expected from this one but nice all the same. And different. Good projection for the first 10minutes before it settles down and the longevity is 8 hours with me.

I get leather, safran and a bit of vanilla and something "bright" on dry-down, almost vetiver-like. (I am a regular consumer). A hint of mesquite. Certainly not heavy on any of the other notes listed here. Excellent fragrance none-the-less. I compare these situations to when you go for a glass thinking it's soda-water and it turns out to be Sprite. Sprite is great, but that moment is a disappointment.
