Lemon Eclair

I love sweetish lemon scents and had high hopes. I didn't like the opening which smelt too much like biscuits. Thankfully that note quickly eased off quite a bit and then the lemon came into it's own. I admit I was concerned that this might smell like an air freshener. Thankfully it doesn't. It smells just like I imagine a lemon eclair might be like. It's not too sweet which was one of my main concerns. I know Americans have a very sweet tooth but I trusted in Youtubers Delicious Delights recommendation. She is a big fan of this yummy number. It doesnt smell too artificial thank heavens. I have a very sensitive nose and would soon have tossed the sample. Trust me this sensitivity is the bain of my life. I'm not really heavily into gourmands but this is yummy. One to wear on casual days. Moderate sillage and longevity.

I don't see the logic in discontinuing this fragrance. Its the best I've ever smelled from them. I've noticed they've tried to make a bunch of copies of this without some of its crucial notes and they were all disasters. They should bring the same formula back. I'm kind of disinterested in the rest now. Just an FYI, Shalimar Souffle de Parfum is NOT similar to this fragrance. The only thing that fragrance has in common with this is fact it has lemon in it, but the lemon takes a back seat in Eclair. It's all about the sweet bakery/pastry smell in it, that just so happens to have a lemon on the side. With Shalimar Souffle de Parfum, its all light, lemon & leather blah.

I got several of Mr. Covarrubias scents last year. Lemon eclair was one of the best from the haul I got. It is a lemon vanilla cream dream. You feel the pastry notes just for a few minutes, then the drydown has not much evolution, it is Meyer lemon custard with extra heavy cream and a dense vanilla note. It reminds me of good old Lemon signature vanilla scent from bath and body works (around 2009-2010) but with extra creaminess. Longevity not so great, around 2-3 hours with decent projection, my husband said I smelled like a nice dessert from a fancy bakery. Lemon custard dream! I have a back up bottle, since this brand tends to discontinue scents every now and then.

I've been looking for a perfume version of C.O. Bigelow No. 005 lemon body cream (and no, it's not their No. 1999 perfume). I think this is the closest I've found so far, although I think the nature of the body cream composition allows for a longer-lasting, more photorealistic lemon scent. Still, though, this has a nice "baked lemon treat" sort of scent. Ganache's similar perfume "When Life Gives You Lemons" is a much more intense version of this with a heavier baked good note that sometimes leans synthetic. I'm so glad I decided to spring for a bottle of Lemon Eclair!

This is a very good summer gourmand. Very citrusy and creamy: not as heavy as typical gourmands but not as light and breezy as typical citrus perfumes. Absolutely gorgeous. Low sillage, lasts about 8 hours. The lemon is muted after an hour or so and the buttery sweet pasrty amps up but still isn't too heavy or cloying. After 8 hours it dried down to a sweet white musky skin scent that stuck around until washed off. For me, this is perfect for summer.

I've collected multiple Lemon Gourmand scents for many years. The are VERY tricky, if they are natural the oil is very fragile and the longevity is very limited. Thankfully, there is no "lemon cleaner" scent here. It relies on its bakery base to give it around 20 minutes longevity. But it was a WONDERFUL 20 minutes! Editing to update: The base notes are still perceptible after 3 hours, but I have to sniff my wrists.

Pretty, my favorite from this house (followed by the chocolate and strawberry scents). Absolutely no longevity, tho. Completely gone without a trace in a half hour.

Citrusy gourmands are my weak spot. Done right it can be either a sweeter, honeyed lemon or a fresher, sharper lemon complementing a warm, cakey base, like in a delicious sponge cake. I have several favourites in this category, in different price ranges, and so I had to try this. The lemon is pure and utter floor cleaner to me, to be frank. I detect a biscuit undertone, but it does in no way make up for the overwhelming sharp Ajax smell. I had about the same experience with DKNY Delicious Delights Dreamsicle. A sharp and fresh lemon, as opposed to sweet, is not necessarily a problem - in Kerosene Unknown Pleasures it makes a very realistic rendition of lemon zest with a lovely, warm, slightly cinnamon-y sponge cake. That is a lovely, albeit expensive, example of a lemon gourmand done right. Also Lira by Xerjoff is very much like Unknown Pleasures, and my personal favourite is Hilde Soliani Vani Choc that contrary to the name is a lovely sweet lemon with the most delicious vanilla base. Ironically I'm thankful that this perfume doesn't last long on the skin, something that is the case with many citrus perfumes. I would never, ever pay the price for this perfume. For a very cheap yet wonderfully delicious lemon gourmand I very much recommend you search for Froot Loops on Etsy and choose basically any oil perfume (I've tested many of them, and most of them are from the same stock oil company). Two examples are Froot Loops by Bathandbodybakery9 or by SomethinSpecial.

Do not like this whatsoever. I wish I did as the brand is a nice indie, but it starts off ok with notes of lemon and vanilla but rapidly deteriorates into the inside of a movie theatre bathroom. In other words, cleaner. Lemon always has that risk but often it works fine on me - but here, perhaps combined with the 'creamy' notes, it becomes very unpleasant. I've got to imagine it's something to do with my skin, so proceed with caution if you aren't sure how lemon or cream notes will act on you.

I don't know if there was a reformulation in between Ganache Parfums' closures and openings. Being new to fragrance, this is my first time purchasing from them. But this is pretty bad. It smells like lemon bathroom cleaner. There's nothing gourmand or pastry about this. I had also ordered Chocolate Ganache and sprayed it on a test strip after (unfortunately) spraying Lemon Eclair on my skin. They were so bad my boyfriend had to leave the room and open windows.

So, I have a newer (soon to be discontinued, maybe?) similar fragrance from Ganache called Lemon Creme, and I love it! Mine is a 50ml extrait de parfum in a tallish cylindrical bottle with a black label. I'm pretty sure it's either the same or an improved version of this one, as the listed notes are almost the same: Lemon curd, Bavarian cream, Meyer lemon zest, buttery meringue cookie, fresh baked lemon meringue, and white musk. The description on the Ganache website is also very similar: “Our interpretation of temptingly tart and fluffy lemon meringue cookie sitting on top of velvety vanilla custard drizzled with Meyer lemon glaze.” Lemon Creme is a truly luscious lemon gourmand, and if you like that sort of thing then I'd highly recommend you get it while you can!

I agree that this doesn't smell like a cleanser. . . . But it is reminiscent of some car air freshener so Ive smelled. As it settles the pastry scent blooms, fairly realistic and breads and makes it less so. The resulting lemon cream pastry has moments of realism and moments that are very plastic and synthetic. Although, I do recall thinking meyer lemons smelled fake, so it could just be me. At 5 hours there was a lovely sugared lemon scent, but I couldn't detect it at 6.

I agree with Britts..I don't like this either.This is the second one in this line, that I don't like..I didn't think either one smells like the description to me. Maybe it would have been better, if they didn't add the musk.
