One Legged Joe

Okay...so...this is a LOVE! I got One Legged Joe in the mail yesterday and tried it on paper. I liked it, but wasn't overwhelmed. It gave me Bath and Body Works candle vibes. I wasn't mad at it, but there appeared to be a waxiness in the scent that my nose couldn't get around. I decided to do a full wear test today with three sprays. One on each wrist and one on my neck and let me tell you...for this scent, that was overspraying. People can smell me across the parking lot and through a mask. LUCKILY! This scent warms so gorgeously on the skin. It is both sweet and aromatic and VERY complex. I haven't let the bottle "rest" and it is already so potent and gorgeous. I get more in-your-face maple upfront than coffee, but the coffee and woods are there and they balance the sweetness of the maple. This is like a warm hug in a bottle, but it's also just so dang unique. Like, on one hand, it does give me Denny's diner vibes, but on the other hand, there is something so deep and complex about this fragrance that elevates it from just pancakes and syrup to something else entirely. This scent makes me understand what "taking one's nose on a scent journey" actually means. Projection and Sillage are a 20 out of 10. I will update with the longevity at the end of the day.

One Legged Joe is the smell of IHOP, Waffle House or Denny's on Sunday morning when the grill has pounds of bacon frying, the coffee is brewing and pancakes with maple syrup are being served. Diners not eating pancakes are enjoying toast with strawberry jam. Sweet and savory. Warm and inviting. Cozy and relaxing. (And if you're lucky, it's also the smell of breakfast in bed!) While this would be an appetite enhancing room spray I can say unequivocally that I truly enjoy wearing this and having its delicious aroma wafting around me whether I'm wearing it morning, noon or night. Compliments galore too, I might add. Coworkers smile and sniff me as do strangers in line behind me in stores. Lasts a good 8-10 hours on my skin and is noticeable on my clothes for days. Sillage is powerful, too. One Legged Joe is a happy fragrance and the very best and most long lasting coffee fragrance I've ever encountered.

WOW ! Wearing this for the first time today. This perfume is wonderful ! It really smells like rich fresh brewed black coffee with sweet maple syrup and pancakes with a touch of caramel! Projection is consistently at least 3 feet ! Warmth of my skin really enhances this scent. Clings nicely in my hair, too ! I have never had so very many compliments in one day, from both men and women ! Yes, I told them all where to order this one, too ! Delicious, true-to-life flavors and super long lasting ! I've worn this for over 10 hours now and it's still going as strong as when I first sprayed it on ! Amazing ! It's addictive and I'm totally hooked on it ! Glad I bought the largest bottle ! I will explore other perfumes from this house, too ! Excellent WAY above average niche quality, uniquely creative, with incredible projection, and extremely long lasting ! SCORE !!!!

This is a decadent, full-bodied gourmand if I ever smelled one! I'm taken back to my days of waitressing at White Coffee Pot in high school, coffee on the burners, pancakes and syrup on the plates. This is a fragrance that smells like no other. I have Mama Joe and Lushious Joe, but this is my favorite of the three, Lushious Joe coming in at a close second. While Lushious Joe is a coffee scent, I get more of the baked goods and sweetness with One-Legged Joe. I don't know how Ganache was able to come up with this one. It's unisex, lasts for hours - at least 10 - and for days on my clothing. My bottle is from 2017 and I don't think the line was continued, so if you can still find this, get it. Be warned, though - you'll smell like maple syrup and waffles, even a little bacon, so if that's not your thing, this one isn't for you.

What a memory in a bottle! For me, this is Christmas morning in Los Angeles. Everyone goes to IHOP, especially the one on Santa Monica Boulevard. No one wants to cook on Christmas morning after you open presents, so everyone goes to IHOP in their jammies with messy hair. I get a ton of rich maple syrup which lasts the entire wearing, then a strong cup of Joe in one of those industrial beige coffee shop mugs, and melted butter on warm pancakes. My gosh, this is just so good. I had no idea I even wanted a perfume that smelled like this, but I really love it. It just smells so much like being home for the holidays with the ones you love and it brings a huge smile to my face.

This has got to be the most delicious coffee scent ever. I want to drink it, I want to eat it, I want to bathe in it. It smells like a traditional coffee shop with wooden floors, freshly brewed coffee and freshly baked delicious caramel cakes are being served. It smells very similar to the discontinued oil from Black Violet called Affogato. Amazing longevity and projection, 3 squirts last almost 24 hours and the comments from others...well...who smells like a cake and coffee...mmmm where is that coffee cake...who made pot of sweet mocha... Yes, a full bottle is on the way to join my collection...YUM!!!

To confirm what the reviewer back in 2019 asked, yes, this was renamed to Starfish & Coffee. I have a sample of OLJ from 2017 and a bottle of S&C that I bought in 2018 and have one on each wrist right now. Can confirm they are identical. I tested almost every fragrance from the house back at the time and this was my favorite. Haven't worn it in forever but I'm glad I rediscovered my sample/bottle.

Mate of mine sent me this and I'm not going to lie I wasn't expecting to like it as much as I did. Okay, not that I'm the arbiter of good taste in perfumery or anything (I fuckin' am!) but I don't really class these overt, 'Hey wanna smell like cake?' gourmands as 'real perfume' yeah call me a snob if you like. All that aside I can assess One legged Joe on it's merits, it hits the brief, although too sweet for most if you're a glutton for this shit or have a great big, gurgling, inner child within you (in my case) which demands satisfaction, you'll take something from this. I know what this reminds me of, it's like trash coffee, specifically a Tim Horton's French vanilla latte, which is stupidly sweet and tastes as if Dominican vanilla gummed cigarillos and coca butter magic trees have been repeated dipped into your coffee. Trash and yet I still drink them. Then you get the butter materials/accord which is usually sent to ruin most Indy's compositions but here it's quite restrained and not too sickly, perhaps because it's surrounded by lots of other massively sweet and icky materials. The bitterness of the coffee note/accord is really well done, lasts, actually smells like coffee and serves to offer something mildly less saccharine than everything else in here. Still this is almost unwearable, simply because I don't care to smell like this, and it's not really what excites me about perfumery but hey that's just me. I accept that gourmand lovers, (the fanatical cat ladies of the fragrance community) will probably love this as it stands out in the field because clearly the perfumer has a affinity with these materials and can be super creative in the gourmand space.

This was awful for me. Coffee, yes, but mixed with some spicy notes (maple syrup?) that made this smell like stale urine. Couldn’t use it as a fragrance on me so thought I could perhaps use it as a room spray? Maybe it was my skin chemistry? Turned out no, I sprayed liberally my comforter and at night I was trying to find out where the pee smell was coming from. Mama Joe on the other hand is delicious!

All I get is the coffee and hint of the woody notes. Not good.

Managed to snag this for a steal during a BOGOF sale, and I'm glad I did as I'm not sure how easy these are going to be to hunt down in the future. THIS is what a coffee scent should be. So many scents claim to have a coffee note and it's virtually undetectable (I'm looking at you, Black Opium)....but here it's the main feature. So. Damn. Good. This fragrance is a camping trip in the Pacific Northwest in a bottle. The opening is a burst of sweet freshly brewed coffee...a hint of bitter but mostly sweet, which is my favorite way to drink coffee. The buttery pancakes and syrup accord come in fairly quickly, you do have to like maple as a note in order to love this one, as it's tenacious but OH SO YUMMY. The woodsy background just amplifies the feel of waking up on a crisp morning outdoors, heating your coffee and getting excited for the breakfast cooking over an open fire. I have to give Ganache props for the clever name (One legged Joe= I Hop) but rather than a chain restaurant, this smells like childhood memories up at Baker Lake to me. An absolute winner.

This is strong stuff! I'm not really into gourmand scents, although I'm trying more, so please take this review with a pinch of salt (yes, pun intended). It is very sweet, like pancake syrup, with a dollop of sweetened coffee. It is sweeter than my usual range, so I don't think this will be a regular in my rotation, but if you like really sweet fragrances, try it! I didn't find it unpleasant, but I'm not in love either. It lasts a long time and I think its sillage would be very heavy if one sprayed more than two small spritzes (which I don't recommend unless you REALLY love this).

Powerful juice! People will comment but be careful not to overspray, or the comments may not be what you’re hoping for. Yes, it’s pancakes and syrup. Completely unisex imo. 10/10
