Southern Tea Kakes

It's a YES for me! I was looking for a buttery crust, type of sweet fragrance and I am not unhappy with this! FOR ME the almond and the tea transports me to a bakery, when you walk in and smell the fresh, buttery dough of flaky pastries in the air. Not the sweet fruity part of a pastry - but the flaky golden sweet crust bits that would be left behind on your plate; I think the macaroon note has a hand in this crust smell as well. I do get the almond and it's nuttiness, reminding me of almond cookies. The white tea is comforting, and the greenness of the tea adds a cool and sweet and slightly earthy element. This is not extremely over the top sweet to me, I get a little floral on my skin, the more I smell the cap the more I think I smell some vanilla too - but mostly buttery crust. There is no tobacco for me. And in this current December, east coast cool weather, I almost feel like where is it soon after putting it on...but then as I move around - there it goes, that buttery pastry crust smell in the air. I think this may shine more in the warmer weather but I still adore it.

Such a delicious, sweet and strong almond! All almond for about 15 minutes and then it blends with the emerging scent of thick vanilla buttercream icing sprinkled with toasted almonds along with a enticing bakery smell of a white cake just out of the oven with its top nicely browned. Sprays on with an oil sheen, projects moderately but steadily for the 6-8 hours it lasts on my skin. On clothing - I noticed it on a t-shirt pulled from the laundry hamper 4 days after wearing it! No question Southern Tea Kakes is the fragrance translation of cake and it is soooo tasty! I don't know how Jarek manages to create such literal translations of edibles but he does it like nothing I've ever found from any other house. If he weren't a fragrance artist I think he'd have made a great pastry chef! Edit 11/20/20: My bottle has mellowed and seems more like almond biscotti than cake as the initial almond extract scent has morphed into a toasted almond fragrance very close to Amaretto liqueur. I'm enjoying it even more than when I first got my bottle!

I get mostly almond and macaron notes. This is a very intense almond at the start and is gourmand (I love as edible as possible), but there's something very synthetic about it which I can't get past. Projection is very strong for the first hour or so and then disappears completely. I was not impressed with either Ganache perfumes I have tried, this one or Lemon Creme (which smelt like cleaner). This scent isn't terrible but it's not something I reach for.

This very strongly reminds me of store-bought almond cakes. Or even the poppy seed pound cakes that you can buy. I like gourmand perfumes - but this is crossing territory into edible - and I don't really want to eat it either. I can really only smell the almond and macaroon. I get absolutely no tea, tobacco or florals. Bought this blindly from Ganache because they are closing (I think) and the notes sounded right up my alley. I will definitely be passing this one to someone else.

I love every second of this fragrance from start to finish. At first spray, it is extremely sweet and truly does smell like almond cake fresh from the oven. After an hour or so, this settles into fluffy, creamy, yummy fragrance that is supported by the barest hint of musk. I get almost no tobacco, but just when I am not looking for it, something earthy peeks out of this fragrance and I assume it is that. Projection pales in comparison to One Legged Joe. This scent is more intimate and sits closer to the skin. Longevity might be an issue. I am doing a full wear test today, but given the softness of this fragrance, I am only expecting between 4-6 hours.
