Teak Wood

This is a gem of a scent! Of all the Eau de Colognes that I have, this has some of the absolute finest, natural wood notes that I have ever smelled in an EdC-strength composition. But, then again, the entire line of Gandini 1896 is far richer than virtually any EdC you will find! From the initial spray, one is treated to a wonderful, slightly tropical smell of kiwi and pineapple - neither dominant, nor too sweet or fruity. It is the aroma of sniffing the base of a pineapple to know it's ripe and smell of fresh-cut kiwi! The violet leaf is the key here a watery, 'liquid floral' note that is there upon first spray throughout the wearing. It keeps the fruit in line and a wonderful fresh, clear note that transcends to the heart and into the base. By the way, I smell wood radiating through this scent within the first 30 seconds it is on me - so don't think this doesn't hold up to its name. It indeed does, as this is definitely a wood-driven fragrance of very high quality...but not overly-woody. A balanced 'Colonia'-strength creation that is full of charm. The heart is interesting. The violet leaf is still present (very nice and not overdone - very natural), and then you are introduced to the earthy caraway, white pepper and cumin...karazzmatic's perspective is interesting as you get a touch of fruit balanced by the savory and earthy spices with violet leaf emanating all the way from the end of the top notes. This is great craftsmanship - a wonderful and rich composition with wood breathing through the entire time from the rich base that this composition is built on and named for. Teak wood shines through, along with Sandalwood and Cashmere "wood". Here is an interesting point - "Cashmere Wood" is not actually from a tree or even a type of wood! It is actually a fragrance term that is used to represent a synthesized molecule that is a combination of cedarwood, amber, musk, and vanilla. The teak wood, smells excellent and I believe is natural in here (as this really is the bottle's name sake note, and it doesn't disappoint) - and, yes, I have smelled fresh-cut teak as my father was a woodworker and used exotic hardwoods. The Sandalwood used here is also very nice - smooth, slightly "creamy" and does a nice job to integrate notes. Very balanced. But, the Cashmere "wood" note is revelatory. The first time I wore this, I re-read the tester bottles ingredients because I was sure that I smelled amber and possibly vanilla late in the dry down as well as cedarwood (which I know very well - and counters the Sandalwood by having a slightly dusty quality). Not unhappy at all - this actually impressed me! Brilliant. The Gandini house has really done something with the 1896 line and Teak Wood is, yet another, stand-out bottle! It is among my top 2-3 in the entire line as a matter of fact. It blends incredibly well with Pomegranate & Incense, which I adore as well! Layer the two scents together - I prefer a nice base of Teak Wood and a few well-placed shots of Pomegranate & Incense to open up an entire spectrum of notes that interact so well together. But, wearing it alone is absolutely wonderful as well... I have said it before and I will mention it again here - this line form Gandini is niche quality fragrance in "Eau de Cologne" strength that is incredibly rich, intelligent and harmonious. The ingredients are excellent and both the longevity and projection are very good (easily EdT in strength and better compositions than so many mainstream fragrances that get attention). I get compliments on this with every wearing, and it is wonderful for year-round wear! Very highly recommended and definitely Unisex! The wood is warm, aromatic and the spicy heart really make this come together wonderfully. It is sexy and striking on my wife's olive skin, but she prefers it on me. I have extra bottles so we can enjoy it...together! Salud.

I love Teak Wood by Gandini. It is one of the most intriguing fragrances I own. The complexity is alluring and the charm lies in the heart of this fragrance. It literally smells better the longer it wears on. The caraway and pepper play off the kiwi and pineapple; it's like sweet and savory combine to make a culinary masterpiece of a fragrance. The teak wood then introduces itself with a distinguished profoundness, and the entire three course experience of notes satisfies the nasal palette, tantalizing my elegant sense of smell. I am left only wanting more.

Csodás unisex illat! Vasalt ing mellé, vagy fürdés után... Tiszta, kifinomult, harmonia teremtő darab. Kellemes viselet több évszakban is. Nekem a gyerekkorom kedves, tiszta, ovis pillanatait is felidézte. Szeretem, kár, hogy itt Magyarországon nehezen beszerezhető...

One word to describe this fragrance: DELICIOUS! From the moment I spray it on it makes my senses go wild. It lasts a long time on me and I love that. Definitely a day time fragrance.

this is such a splendid fragrance, it's one of only two in possession of "ozonic" qualities that i actually enjoy. there's nothing overtly synthetic, smothering, or cloying about the freshness in Teak Wood. been working on the same bottle for 8 years now; the concentration isn't meant to hold like an EDP so i feel fortunate to get a minimum of 7 hours out of three strategically placed spritzes. the violet is discreetly electric, the teak lends a depth of warmth that somehow also breathes, and while my skin doesn't pull any of the other notes i find the marriage of these two elements alone harmonious. i generally shy away from "clean" fragrances but Teak Wood has just enough character to hold my interest without veering in to variations on laundry detergent and overloaded aquatic note territory most "clean" fragrances seem to posses. that it does this so consistently, across seasons, and is also a genuine pleasure to wear is rather remarkable given my general preferences. while this is certainly unisex, it makes me feel feminine in a down to earth, subtly pretty way. this is such a massively under-rated perfume, it does not insist upon itself. it moves around you, it breathes, but it never imposes. just gorgeous.

Teak Wood is a bit more masculine than I anticipated...and I have no problem wearing masculine scents. The challenge is that Teak Wood has a traditional men's cologne vibe. I was hoping for a more unisex feel based on the description of pineapple and violet leaf (neither of which I detect). On me, I get that soapy, woody element that says, 'this is clearly for men.' Not happy about it, but I haven't worn it enough to form a sound opinion. Plus, it might be very good for layering. I'll experiment more and post an update.

Got my bottle from Amazon and I'm highly disappointed. The initial blast is straight up alcohol and nothing else. After about 1 minute you get a faint generic scent that doesn't smell like anything in particular. Weak sauce. If you're looking for an amazing and faaaaaarrrr superior fragrance with a kiwi note then grab a bottle of Orion by Nulifar du Nil and thank me later. It's only $85 for a 100ml which is nuts because it smells like it can sell for double that price.

This is not your typical wood. This scent is evanescent in every way. Shame, Shame, Shame!!!...but then again, this is a eau de cologne. Not a total lost mainly because it was $30 bucks...This is a clean, tropical, daytime summer scent. With this kind of description, you wouldn't have ever guessed that im describing a woody fragrance. Personally, i liked it for the hour it lasted. *BLIND BUY WORTHY AWARD*
