George

This is a sweet honeyed molasses type style of fragrance that's perfect for cold weather. I didn't get liquorice at all. I've used molasses in coffee before and it's like be a sweet version of that mixed with (in my opinion) a perfectly blended honey note. There is no citrus in this. Forget the notes completely. This is good and good for cold weather. Its great type of gentleman cowboy style of fragrance. Would never ever wear this in the heat. But the ingredients and the blend in my opinion are very good and smooth. And definitely worth a try. For me this is a 7.5/10. Very well blended and the best honey note I've ever come across so far.

Agree with the review below - opening is not citrusy at all, more of a spicy boozy tobacco vibe. It actually smells fantastic - i have 8 from this brand and they semt me a few 2 ml samples of the ones i don't have, George being one i have yet to purchase. I will have to definitely get a bottle after testing my 2ml Geprge on skin - it is damn good

Scent - What my wife and I get from GN's George, I have not read anywhere else so I created my Fragrantica account to write this review. What we get right away is a strong hit of black licorice. Licorice tends to have a kind of anise-like flavor but that's not what this is. This is opening a bag of black licorice and breathing it in. It's not light or bright, it's deep, complex, and... I think the word 'thick' applies well here. That may be the oak moss, musk, and amber combining with everything else to give it that thick texture. I tend to go for fragrances like this—ones that aren't light and airy but deep, thick, sticky... but this one has a gourmand bend to it. I would not describe it as sweet, mind you. It's kind of bitter, like a black coffee (it does not smell like coffee, that's my comparison for sweetness vs bitterness). Projection - I wore this twice and on the first day, three sprays (one spray on each side of my neck, just above the collarbone, plus one at the base of my neck/upper chest) was way too much to be considered officer appropriate. Day two, I sprayed it once on my chest and that was the right amount. Longevity - Applying the fragrance at 6:45 AM, the licorice note was less intense by 10:30 AM and had become a kind of old-school bitter aftershave, less obviously licorice-like but still there. Incredibly longevity, as with all GN fragrances, and the scent was still detectible at 8 PM.

The perfume George was relaunched in August 2022, in a Parfum Extrait concentration, following the production partnership signed between Gentleman’s Nod and the Fragrance House called Mane. However, George was one of the first fragrances marketed by the brand (along with ERNEST, JACKIE, and JOHNNY), through the work initiated by the founder with fragrances applied to shaving products, not for the body. Its name pays homage to George Washington, the first president of the United States. Its new formulation contains 27% concentration, is classified as woody-ambery, and brings notes of orange, lemon, lime, and bergamot, in the output. Then, notes of rosewood, rose, fir, labdanum, and eucalyptus emerge in the heart, while the base carries patchouli, tobacco, oakmoss, amber, and musk notes. When sprayed on the skin, George's fragrance doesn't start very citrusy, although its olfactory pyramid tells me that. On the contrary, I feel the sweet orange and an explosion of intense nuances, slightly alcoholic and a little resinous. It's sweeter than it might seem, but it's not cloying. For me, it was love at first sniff! To my sense of smell, George is a mix of bourbon and tobacco, like a meeting between the pipe and the distillate from the tobacconists of bygone eras. It is a meeting point for elegant and esteemed men, with their perfectly styled mustaches and top hats in hand. Here, the floral facets are masked by the woody and creamy content of rosewood. The labdanum is warm, and sophisticated, and brings little of that leathery style that it is usually explored. The patchouli is sweet, with its chocolate nuances that become even more liqueur with the strong tobacco content. George is not a versatile perfume, but it conveys class and modernity at the same time. It projects well and has high durability, besides the quality (and olfactory profile) of less commercial niche perfumes, whose artistic roots speak louder. Without a doubt, it is one of my favorites from the brand.
