Sidama

Sidama was launched on November 3rd, 2023. It was named in honor of Sidama, in Ethiopia, a place known by many as the birthplace of coffee. The creative concept came from a memory of the brand's founder himself, which occurred more than two decades ago, when he tried, for the first time, a naturally processed Ethiopian coffee. Revealing a bold, rich aroma with clear blueberry nuances, this experiment brought to light the need to recreate a fragrance that could be an ode to your favorite coffee. To this end, the perfumer Ugo Charron (Mane) was in charge of bringing the project to life, which is also part of the Origin Collection. Sidama's fragrance is woody-ambery and has notes of coffee, rum absolute, apricot, and mixed fruits on top. The body brings notes of iris, dark chocolate, and the TropicaloneTM molecule which, unlike other similar lactones, used to replicate the smell of peach, reveals the aroma we feel in pineapple, passion fruit, and pitaya, with a lighter milky effect and greater tropical content. Finally, the base carries notes of coffee tree wood, vetiver, patchouli, and another Mane's molecule, called OrcanoxTM. It comes from esclareol and is rich in ambery, woody, musky, and soft powdery nuances. However, Sidama does not reveal a literal fragrance for those hoping to smell the typical aroma of coffee. As soon as it is sprayed on my skin, I feel like someone spilled a glass of a very sweet rum on me. The opening is boozy and hot and remains this way for the first five minutes. I got to thinking: “Does anyone want to go around smelling like rum?”. But I noticed that the strong smell of rum started to give way to a different hot drink, closer to Café Caribenho (which contains a shot of espresso, rum, and vanilla). From then on, Sidama proved to be a perfect drink to be enjoyed at tobacconists and European cafes, bottled with 27% essence. And the more I inhale the air, the more facets emerge. Now, between a bite of the apricot tartlet and a few sips of coffee, I am struck by the strong aroma of dark chocolate from the dessert served at the next table. It's hot in Brazil, but I can swear the snow is falling on the other side of the windows! The evolution is slow, and the fragrance exudes mercilessly. Around me, the environment begins to transform into a chalet of dark wood covered with a shiny varnish, which houses a small fireplace, from which I hear the crackling of wood and some branches of fuzzy, fragrant leaves. The smoke that comes out of the chimney does not dissipate completely and it is easy to notice the smell of vetiver. The last sip brings me back to the reality of my routine and reminds me that fragrances have a peculiar power to transport us to places that no one sees but can feel. Sidama doesn't smell like any other fragrance in my collection and carries a lot of the brand's DNA, which reinforces aspects of male beauty, neatness, and virility.
