Eclipse

Just received this. The opening is very harsh...almost like nail polish remover, however that quickly dissipates. I don’t have the nose like a lot of experts here, but those notes listed above seem accurate. This seems a bit like Roja Scandal which I bought because some said it was similar to the original Calvin by Calvin Klein. Anyway, the dry down is quite lovely . It almost like a mixing of Geo. F. Trumpers Wellington, Marlborough, and Curzon; I can see now why it’s in a bottle like those. Their masterpiece is still Eucris but this is nice. I’ll buy more when the price comes down. Roja Scandal doesn’t come close to this...similar scent, George Trumper far superior than the overrated and overhyped and overpriced and over sanctimonious Roja. ***Update. I bought this about 4 months ago. When I first sprayed it, it was harsh, but dried down wonderfully. The harshness no longer exists. Love this. And, Roja Scandal doesn’t come close- people are paying for that glass bottle and packaging. When this comes down in price, I’ll grab another bottle. Beautiful, elegant, classy, gentleman fragrance.

Unfortunately nail polish remover is correct but it certainly does not dry down to anything lovely and Roja would faint from indignation if anyone thought this could be compared this to the excellent Scandal. The very best kindest summary is that this is a brash dandy barbershop scent and manages to smell both expensive and terrible at the same time .. so in today's market it'll go far !! Personally I'd fire whoever was responsible for this screeching disappointment.

The base notes here are switched with the top notes. Looks like because of Trumpers website, they start with the base notes on top of the pyramid, confusing for some haha...

I wish Fragrantica would have online vendors post who has it so that it can be bought.
