GFT

What a delightful pick-me-up! To my tastes, this, along with Balle de Match, is pretty much the pinnacle of men's semi-sweet citrus fragrances. It begins as grassy lemon, somehow capturing the brightness but not the sourness of the peel, with just enough soapiness from the blossoms thrown in to mellow it out. In a sense, it's lemon dishsoap, but only in the most delicate, ephemeral way, with just a hint of that sharp soap fizziness that irritates my nose when overdone. It also has a bit of the creamy headiness that I recently found in Creed's Royal Water, but it actually backs it up with something! As it fades, it manages to keep the ratio of tart lemon rind, sweet fruit, and soapy blossoms surprisingly constant, and slowly introduces woodier basenotes. It does venture closer to the brassy, golden metallic aura of Colonia Intensa or Lalique White, but like Burberry Original, GFT stops short of crossing over into that zone; I might call it an "organic" alternative to CI or LW. What's probably the most unusual here is that the stuff has superhuman longevity for a citrus fragrance. Even at the end of the day, I can still smell the quiet, soapy-citrus base, as almost a "clean linen" or "white musk" type of scent, but again in only the most natural, unforced sense, and with sweet lemon juice persisting hours beyond the point where you'd normally expect it to disappear. One of the best in its class.

Popped in to the local barbershop to stock up on Extract of Limes, but unfortunately they were out. Picked up GFT instead. This is a classy, sophisticated gentleman's cologne. Very much in the same vein as D.R. Harris' Arlington, or Taylor of Old Bond Street's Mr. Taylors. However, this has a lot more lemon than both. The open is a blast of citrus, predominantly lemon but with a hint of bergamot and mandarin. This slowly fades into a woody-musky drydown, however the lemon sustains throughout. If you don't like lemon, don't buy this. It's by far the most predominant note. If however, like me you love lemon, buy a bottle of this and just bathe in it, it's that good. Longevity is decent for a cologne, I get 4 hours on my skin with moderate sillage.

Lovely citrus cologne with many fougère traits. This is what AdP Colonia Essenza could have been instead of the cheap soap bar mess it becomes after 30 minutes; GFT is in fact the perfect modernisation of the 1916 AdP Colonia. The first seconds you will smell more talcum than I personally like, but that lasts only two minutes before it dries down to a stable if intimate barbershop scent. It is not so top heavy that you couldn’t use it the year around. Perfect for the workplace if you have perfume sensitive colleagues. GFT being a cologne, you are free to change into an evening scent after working hours, without any fuzz. For example Trumper’s Havana ;)

This is good stuff. A fresh sophisticated scent. Cost is quite expensive but you should get a 30ml to try at least once. Trumper make first class fragrances but are not as well known as the designer brands. They began (and still exist) as a barber shop in London renowned for their excellent services and superior product line. You can use this to your advantage as their fragrances will be different from others in your social circle. I apply this quitle lightly and find that it lasts well, it stays on clothes for a long time too. Thumps up :)

Fresh blast of lemony opening that dries down to a lavender mid and lavender musky base. Right in between like and love for me at the moment. Fresh while still being a gentlemanly old school English scent. I might grow to love it, it's a pleasant and easy reach scent for casual or summer wear. Scent: 7.5 / Sillage: 7 / Longevity: 7

Is there such thing as a fragrance that is classy, sophisticated, citrusy and manly at the same time? Yes!! Is is GFT! My favorite summer scent when compared to my other high productions summer scents this one takes the cake!

One of my favorite Summer scents... Great citrus blast in the opening and dries down to a wonderful musky ceder... When you wear this in the United States you know that you won't smell like anyone else...

Finally made it to the Geo F Trumper shop and it was all very fabulous. The people were super-nice and they gave me samples. So I got the deodorant in this flavour (plus a sample) and the Limes skin food. It's quite subtle, seems not really to project much at all, but has great longevity. When I first put it on I felt I could hardly smell it but it was still there 24 hours later. The Sandalwood, which I wouldn't want to wear, is much stronger. The deodorant is extremely subtle but it's a lovely fragrance, a bit classic and a bit modern. It has a kid's-birthday-party lightness (cheesecake? lemon meringue pie?) and then a nice bit of vetiver to bring you back to the barber shop. I wear it when I know I'm going to be around people who "don't like perfume", because it's so discreet.

When GFT first goes on, it's like I'm bathing in a vat of creamy lemon pledge. The lemon is definitely a dominate note. As time goes by, the heavy lemons start to dissipate a bit and the fragrance draws closer to the skin. As it dries down, the musk starts to reveal itself, along with what I perceive to be a sweet, slighty green and somewhat aquatic scent. There's more of a Mugler Cologne-like scent at play here, except you'd have to imagine Mugler Cologne with a lemon dominant note. it's definitely clean and fresh. Not bad at all. It's not something that I'd rave over but it's still pretty good. Call it a "like", not a "love" for me. Projection and longevity are average.

A class act. A refreshing summer cologne. Opens with an absolute blast of clean lemon. Slowly settles into a cedar and musk drydown. Slight "dirtiness" under the clean lemon, but in a nice way. Old school.

I struggle with this fragrance, I love it because of the memories of my late father using this and all it's various accompanying products ie shaving cream which are fantastic from a performance perspective but in real terms I can't wear it as to my nose it's quite bracing and jarring to the sense's , super sharp citrus and severe herbal elements make it feel very medicinal but not in a good way, it's not particularly refined which when compared to Eucris and their Sandalwood it's like it's not even related to the same house. Situationally I can't visualise where and when it might be appropriate to wear, perhaps early morning when walking the dog to keep you alert.

Based on a carded sample. Opens very lemony, soon dries to a barely discernable soap/musk base. Those looking for something to be wowed by, try Sandalwood or Eucris, this one's pretty bland. 2/5

Yesterday I tried Curzon and it was instant love; today I'm trying GFT and I already know it's not for me. It feels like a blast of artificial lemon while the base note has been toned down so hard that you can only vaguely feel it rather than obviously smell it. Maybe some prefer this style, and fair enough, but if you like classic colognes then get Curzon at half the price, while you may well be able to find a modern lemon scent done better elsewhere.

The top is bright citrus, mostly lemon but picking up the mandarin and bergamot also. It slowly adds the woody and musky scent as it transitions to mid and base. The citrus stays all the way through though. This will be perfect for hot summer days.

Lemon, herbs, pretty good...oh, no, here comes the lavender. No.

My favourite out of four Geo F Trumper colognes I have tested. This one is certainly a mature scent with the zesty lemon opening and traditional musky base but i don't see it as dated unlike other offerings. GFT doesn't last too long however, perhaps 2-3 hours before becoming a skin scent. That's still a lot longer than Extract of Limes which genuinely lasts for about 2 minutes.

Classy lemon and bergamot. ..eventually revealing a nicely done musk..as good as adp colonia but not as good as essenza..cheap enough if shopped around on ebay ..projects well and really lasts considering it's a citrus based cologne ..I get 4 hours of performance easily..give it a try if you like citrus scents

The whole Trumpers range is woefully underrated. Including this little gem. Although it is only fair to sat that if you wear it in London you will not smell unique...but you will smell good.

This is to me as perfect British style on a Classic man as whipper cream on strawberries. 10/10. No doubt may be the best of the gft line.

Its like a more grown up adg I love it and its so original here in the states
